espanolEn este articulo presentamos un metodo de investigacion en tres fases para el estudio de la presencia del folclore infantil en obras literarias denominado ‘Modelo trifasico para el estudio del Folclore Infantil en la literatura’, teniendo en cuenta los referentes previos de Alan Dundes (1965), Maxime Chevalier (1978), Neil Grobman (1979) y Montserrat Amores (1993). En la primera fase de identificacion (rastreo y cotejo) destacamos la utilidad de los informantes como colaboradores necesarios en esta tarea. En la segunda fase de nuestro modelo, fase de analisis, hemos adaptado la Tecnica de Rejilla, propia del campo de la psicologia, creando una herramienta novedosa para la investigacion literaria denominada rejilla de analisis. This article examines how Ladakhi songs represent cultural self-images through associated musical, textual, and visual tropes. Many songs of the past, both from the old royal house and the rural Buddhist populations, reflect the socio-political structure of Ladakhi society. Although some songs, past and present, reflect a pan-Tibetan identity, a distinct Ladakhi identity is nevertheless consistently asserted. Situated on the caravan routes between India, Tibet, China, and Central Asia, Ladakhi culture developed distinctive hybrid characteristics, including in its musical styles. The article discusses this tradition of hybridity from the 17th Century to the present day. Ladakhi music has moved into modern media space, portrayed through scholarly works, concerts, mass media, and the internet. An examination of the copyright history of Australia’s unofficial national anthem, ‘Waltzing Matilda', provides an insight into the political, economic and cultural relations between Britain, the United States of America and Australia. In particular, the extent to which Australia’s cultural industries are a surrogate or proxy for the larger interests of global powers is demonstrated. It is argued that this surrogacy has, and continues to have, a potentially constricting effect on the circulation of matters of cultural concern through the Australian national community. Vivendo a meta strada tra il reale e l’immaginario, il leggendario e l’habitat naturale della metafora. Nel caso della natura selvaggia, come i vulcani, una delle piu antiche metafore di tali luoghi e quella dei giganti. Questa figura e presente anche per il Vesuvio, che sorge nei pressi di Napoli, nell’Italia meridionale, dove vivrebbe intrappolato Alcioneo, il capo dei ribelli che combatterono gli dei dell’Olimpo greco nella mitologica Gigantomachia. Un significativo cuadro de la Orden Concepcionista presenta a su fundadora, Beatriz de Silva, en una iconografía simbólica que la muestra como tronco de una suerte de fecundo árbol de Jesé femenino, que extiende sus ramas. Pero si se presta atención a sus raíces, cobra evidencia la complejidad que suele suponer el camino hacia la construcción hagiográfica, en el que confluyen materiales de diversa procedencia, algunos de los cuales manifiestan la reminiscencia de un acervo folclórico común. Así sucede con algunos de los elementos centrales que se establecen en este caso, no pocos de los cuales pueden rastrearse en los diversos catálogos tipológicos que clasifican el material tradicional, como el canónico Índice ATU (Aarne, Thompson y Uther) o el Motif-Index of Folk Literature de Stith Thompson.

This introductory article explores the complex and overlapping concepts of magic, religion, and ritual and the ways in which archaeologists’ understanding of these concepts informs our interpretation of the material record. An overview of the development of a historical archaeology of ritual highlights current controversies and deficiencies in the discipline, notably assumptions regarding race and ethnicity. Zusammenfassung Das Anliegen dieses Aufsatzes ist es, eine Sammlung von Märchen und populären Erzählungen aus dem südlichen Oman vorzustellen, um zu zeigen, dass viele der historischen materiellen und kulturellen Setzungen heute noch Bestand haben. Die Erzählungen wurden in den 1970er Jahren in Gibali (auch Jibbalo oder Shari genannt) aufgezeichnet; Gibali ist eine nicht-schriftliche, moderne südarabische Sprache (Rubin 2014). Die Analyse konzentriert sich nicht auf klassische Erzähltypen, sondern bezieht sich vielmehr auf die alltäglichen Lebenszusammenhänge, die sich in den Geschichten der Dhofari spiegeln. The articles in this anthology discuss the application of retrospective methods to a wide range of historical disciplines: Old Norse studies in a wide sense, folkloristics, history of religion, etymology, early Germanic iconography and cultural history, Uralic historical linguistics, and historical geography. The articles are the result of the conference New Focus on Retrospective Methods, held in Bergen by the Retrospective Methods Network and the Centre for Medieval Studies (CMS) at the University of Bergen, 27–8 September 2010.

The tale of Aladdin is an example of the adaptation of Middle Eastern fairy tales in Europe and then of the spread of European literary tales into world culture. This article gives an account of the Georgian folk versions of ‘Aladdin’. An overview of archival material and publications outlines the characteristics and transformations of tale type ATU 561 in Georgian folklore. The article also traces the literary path that directed Aladdin to Georgia and compares Georgian translations of the tale with its folkloric variants, including the neighbouring type ATU 560.

In her last will and testament, educator-activist Mary McLeod Bethune (1875–1955) declared, “I LEAVE YOU LOVE. Love builds.” A direct descendant of former chattel slaves, Bethune believed in building from the bottom up: beginning with love, or positive thoughts, and manifesting those thoughts. By accretion of goods and goodwill, she built not only a physical school which fostered the arts as a bridge toward world citizenship for disenfranchised black people but also a school of thought, extending to encompass purposeful government service at local and federal levels, toward achieving a just society. Bethune’s determined example of building by accretion informs and helps us to better understand and articulate a wide variety of African American women’s collecting in, of, and through, the arts. Abstract:The legends of Rabbi Yosef Hayyim of Baghdad feature an elaboration of the concept of "miracle," a category which is extended to include occurrences which are generally not considered miracles elsewhere. The three stories discussed in this article reflect a unique discourse on earthly and spiritual reality and its "natural laws," and the possibility that through the intervention of divine providence, there can be a deviation from, and even violation, of these laws. The hero of these stories, for whose benefit miracles are performed, wins recognition as a tzaddik (righteous person) and an agent of rectification of reality, although from the usual perspective, the events that befall him would not be interpreted as miracles, and might even lead to a decline in his status. But in the context of the narrative discussed here, the kabbalist earns special recognition as possessing divinely endorsed authority, both for the acts of rectification that he performs and for his understanding of reality. Rabbi Yosef Hayyim of Baghdad's empowering interpretation of these events and their protagonists reflects his religious and social worldview as a man of his time and place.

The article is focused on a ballad fairly widely distributed in Western Europe and known under various titles: The Hidden Death, Le Roi Renaud, Sir Oluf, Clerk Colvill, etc. The analysis seeks to determine its structural features, narrative types, semantic oppositions, characters, gender perspective, structural analogues in the South Slavic tradition, its overall meaning and consider certain aspects of ballad poetics in the context of comparative studies.

Las paremias son una incuestionable fuente de información sobre la ideología que impera en la mentalidad de una comunidad lingüística: las paremias contienen estereotipos, concepciones y toda una visión del mundo que pertenece a esa sociedad. El artículo tiene como objetivo poner de manifiesto cómo una determinada concepción de las mujeres (en concreto, aspectos positivos y negativos asociados a la belleza femenina) estaba ya reflejada en las paremias griegas y latinas y en la literatura de la época, y que esta concepción pervive en las paremias españolas que derivan de las clásicas y que se inscriben en su misma tradición textual.

The aim of this study was to analyze the traditional and digitized folktales with the intent of understanding how meanings and values of African folktales are established. It adopted a desktop literature review method (desk study). This involved an in-depth review of studies related to folklore as an emergent of residual character. Three sorting stages were implemented on the subject under study that is, folklore as an emergent of residual character, in order to determine the viability of the subject for research. This was drawn from the trend in the subject of the study since 2010 to 2020. Using evolution literary theory, the paper analyzed how cultural practices, traditions and customs are expressed and practiced in the new form of storytelling. Abstract. The problem of using folklore traditions in modern Ukrainian children's literature is examined. The author's using of folklore traditions in the books of Ivan Andrusiak is represented there. In particular, the used folklore image of fantasy creature of Chakalka, which is a fantastic creature and where all naughty children of Slobozhanshchyna were frightened is analyzed. The writer's attention on the children's and eternal win of kindness over evil, simple didacticism of literary fairytales and the features of mentality nation reflection through the prism of author's disposition in the children's compositions are highlighted too.
