This guide is the first preview of The Resolute Man. The final version f The Resolute Man will be released at the 160th Anniversary Convention and 37th School of Fraternity Practices to be held July 22-26, 2016 in Atlanta, Georgia. В статье суммированы результаты сравнительного исследования армянского эпоса о «неистовых сасунцах» («Sasna cṙer» = «Давид Сасунский») и «Махабхараты». Выявлено значительное сходство их этнографического субстрата, пре-жде всего отражаемой эпосом архаической социальной организации. В древнейшем слое как армянского, так и индийского эпоса сохраняется память о сельском, преимущественно скотоводческом обществе, важную роль в котором играл инсти-тут молодежных воинских братств. Отражением этого института в «Сасна црер» можно считать мотивы буйства юных героев с последующим изгнанием, создания ими поселения в лесной глуши, братства юных воинов, защиты ими стад и отражения вражеских нашествий, боевого бешенства, являющегося главной характеристикой всех сасунских героев, образ их неизменного, переходящего из поколения в поколение наставника и предводителя, «дядьки» Кери-Тороса, упоми-нания оргиастических пиршеств молодежного объединения, следы добрачной свободы юношей и девушек и т.п. Исполь-зование данных мотивов, очевидно, поддерживалось существованием у армян вплоть до Новейшего времени института юношеских социовозрастных объединений, что засвидетельствовано этнографией. Сравнительное изучение армянского эпоса позволяет выявить в нем прежде скрытые от нас аспекты социально-исторического содержания. Более широкое привлечение материалов армянского эпоса к изучению как индоевропейских, так и иных эпических традиций народов Кав-каза и степной Евразии послужит обогащению и развитию сравнительного эпосоведения. Ключевые слова: армянский эпос, «Махабхарата», сравнительное эпосоведение, этнографический субстрат, социо-возрастные объединения, юношеские воинские братства. The author summarizes the results of his search for parallels between the Armenian epic "Sasna cṙer" ("Daredevils of Sassoun") and the Mahābhārata. The comparative study has revealed considerable similarity in the "ethnographic substratum" of both epics, particularly that relating to the archaic social organization mirrored by the epic. The earliest layer of both the Armenian and the Indian epics retains the memory of a rural, largely pastoral society, in which an important role was played by the fraternities of young warriors. In the Armenian epic, this is indicated by recurrent motifs such as the young heroes' rampage followed by exile, the foundation of their own outpost in the backwoods, young male warriors' fraternities, their defense of herds, warding off enemy attacks, battle frenzy (a common characteristic of all the Sasun heroes), their immutable tutor and leader ("uncle") Keri Toros, allusions to orgiastic feasts, premarital freedom enjoyed by boys and girls, etc. In Armenians, these motifs were supported by the existence until the recent times of age sets, described by ethnographers. The comparative study of the Armenian epic reveals its hitherto unnoticed socio-historical aspects. Its wider use for studying other epic traditions (not only Indo-European but also those of other peoples inhabiting the Caucasus and the Eurasian steppes) will contribute to the comparative epic studies.

The study examines how the TFM Girls Instagram account, along with its followers, shapes and maintains dominant discourses of masculinity. Mixed-method analyses revealed that women were depicted more in bikinis, posed in overtly sexually suggestive poses, excluded the women’s eyes and faces, and included predominately White, fit, big-breasted women. There was a positive correlation between the number of likes/comments with breast size. There were also instances of misogyny and objectification manifested in the men’s comments attached to the photographs. The results highlight Instagram as a digital extension of fraternal social spaces. TFM Girls reinforces hegemonic masculinity on a macro-level by allowing virtual linkages among fraternity members across the United States and by fostering a national online frat house ripe with misogyny and objectification.

Das vorliegende Werk befasst sich mit den Aufgaben von Bruderschaften im Waldviertel. Neben einem Überblick über die religiösen Bruderschaften in diesem Gebiet, wurden die typischen Funktionen dieser Gemeinschaften exemplarisch anhand der Bruderschaft zu den Sieben Schmerzen Mariens zu Rafings dargelegt. Als wichtigste Quelle diente das Bruderschaftsrechnungsbuch aus dem 16. Jahrhundert, das Einblick in die Mitgliederstruktur und Ereignisse innerhalb dieser Gemeinschaft bot. Die zentrale Aufgabe bestand in der Abhaltung von Begräbnissen und Messen zum Gedenken an die Toten sowie die Erhaltung und die Ausstattung der Pfarrkirche Windigsteig und der Wallfahrtskirche Maria Rafings. Die Quellen geben zudem Auskunft über die Ämter der Zechmeister, über die Schreiber und die Bruderschaftsmitglieder selbst, deren Namen und Herkunft Aufschluss über das Einzugsgebiet dieser Bruderschaft bieten. Darüber hinaus wird die Einbettung der Pfarre in kirchliche und weltliche Verwaltungsstrukturen beleuchtet und dabei auf auftretende Konflikte vor dem Hintergrund konfessioneller und wirtschaftlicher Interessen eingegangen. Speziell die Wallfahrtskirche Maria Rafings stellte hierbei einen Streitpunkt zwischen den Äbten von Stift Zwettl und den Grundherren von Meires dar.

Seldom are entrepreneurs considered as a collective phenomenon, although they form a privileged socioeconomic elite with material resources and clout. From an organisational perspective, we know little about how successful entrepreneurs organise themselves to leverage collective legitimacy, nor the societal mechanisms used to achieve this. To operationalise this we examine the Scottish 'Entrepreneurial Exchange', a networking organisation for high net-worth entrepreneurs. Using close reading and observational techniques we interrogate the website to uncover legitimacy building mechanisms such as alignment, association and fraternity used by Exchange members. Enacting collective mechanisms including fraternizing, legitimates both the individual and the collective. We highlight the importance of collective elements of entrepreneurial identity and legitimacy building pointing to underlying social implications in further studying fraternal aspects of collective entrepreneurship.

During the course of doing family research some 30 years ago the author obtained a Report of the Proceedings of the Grand Black Chapter of Ireland held December, 1907 and June 1908. In it he found listed the name of a great uncle.. Finding this information encouraged him to do further research. He learned his grandfather after immigration to Canada from Ireland was also a Royal Black Knight. This book contains a description of the Sash worn by members of the Royal Black Institution as well as information about the operation and function of the local lodges or Preceptories to which members attended. It also includes a listing of 384 Preceptories in Canada from 1960 as appeared in a Report of Proceedings with the location, name of Preceptor, and address. The book is a resource for historians and genealogists.

Au Moyen Âge, les réseaux de confraternité, tout comme les réseaux monastiques (congrégations et ordres religieux), ont favorisé la circulation des moines et des clercs et donc celle de leurs livres (manuscrits) et de leurs textes. Les associations spirituelles ont de ce fait directement contribué à la formation et à l’enrichissement des bibliothèques anciennes, tant monastiques qu’ecclésiastiques. Plus généralement, les confraternités ont joué un rôle majeur dans les échanges matériels, techniques et intellectuels entre les établissements religieux.
Considérés à tort comme éphémères et évanescents, les réseaux de confraternité ont jusqu’à ce jour été négligés par les médiévistes. Les sources nécrologiques et confraternelles disponibles sont pourtant nombreuses, mais restent en grande majorité inédites. Elles demeurent largement sous-exploitées. Elles sont pourtant essentielles pour la connaissance des liens unissant entre eux les centres culturels et spirituels médiévaux. Avant l’émergence des grands centres scolaires urbains (collèges et universités fondés à partir de la seconde moitié du XIIe siècle et qui se développent surtout aux XIIIe et XIVe siècles), les établissements religieux (monastères, chapitres cathédraux et collégiales) furent longtemps les principaux centres intellectuels et spirituels de l’Occident chrétien. Afin d’étudier la transmission du patrimoine écrit antique et médiéval (tant religieux que profane), la reconstitution des réseaux de confraternité de ces communautés religieuses semble aussi essentielle qu’incontournable.
Les sources confraternelles, abondantes mais en grande partie inédites, peuvent servir à reconstituer les réseaux humains, sociaux, intellectuels, culturels et spirituels que nous étions jusqu’alors incapables de percevoir. Jusqu’ici les chercheurs se sont focalisés sur les individus, sans penser aux effets de masse et aux liens collectifs. Les documents permettant de mettre en évidence l’existence de ces réseaux existent, mais personne ne les regarde et n’a songé, jusqu’à ce jour, à les exploiter. C’est ce que je souhaite faire grâce au projet Memoria & societas. Il sera ainsi possible, d’une part, de mettre en lumière les liens qui unissaient autrefois les centres culturels et spirituels européens, d’autre part, de renforcer les liens qui unissent aujourd’hui les centres de recherches par la mise en place de collaborations et de partenariats. Les résultats déjà acquis dans plusieurs domaines, à commencer par l’histoire du patrimoine écrit antique et médiéval, l’histoire des bibliothèques anciennes et l’histoire de la culture et de la spiritualité, permettent dores et déjà de percevoir le formidable potentiel du projet Memoria & societas. Ils fournissent également de précieux indicateurs pour mesurer l’influence que ce programme de recherches exercera dans les années à venir sur d’autres projets nationaux et internationaux en sciences humaines et sociales. L’archéologie, l’histoire de l’architecture et du bâti, l’histoire de l’art et du patrimoine sacré, l’histoire des religions ou encore la prosopographie sont autant de domaines qui tireront de précieux bénéfices en introduisant la notion de réseau de confraternité dans leur discipline. Comme les réseaux monastiques (congrégations et ordres religieux), les réseaux de confraternité méritent d’être étudiés dans leur globalité. La progression du projet fera également émerger de nouveaux dossiers dont il est aujourd’hui impossible de prédire la nature et l’ampleur : du fait de son caractère transverse, le projet Memoria & societas est par essence porteur de découvertes.

Researchers have also noted that job satisfaction measures vary in the extent to which they measure feelings about the job or cognitions about the job (cognitive job satisfaction). This survey attempts to study job satisfaction among teaching faculty of Arts and Science Colleges in and around Coimbatore district.
