RESUMEN
Señorío de habla tallán ubicado en el extremo norte del espacio costeño del imperio Chimar. Pervivía gracias al caudaloso y perma-nente río de su nombre que baja de Loja. Su clima caluroso permitía la reproducción incluso de caimanes (lagartos). Sus habitantes dedicados a la agricultura y pesca muy activa en el mar, también consagraban gran parte de su vida a la confección de varios estilos de embarcaciones, la más común de ellas las balsas de madera Ochroma que, con timón, anclas y velamen favorecía la navegación a largas distancias, como es a Chincha y playas del oeste de Panamá. Así intercambiaban caracolas Strombus Galeatus con bronce, oro, telas y otros objetos andinos.

El artículo se propone contribuir al conocimiento del proceso de construcción de la sociedad colonial peruana y del período de gobierno del licenciado Cristóbal Vaca de Castro dando a conocer una carta inédita escrita por el gobernador en Jauja, el 18 de agosto de 1542, unas semanas antes de la batalla de Chupas.

The article attempts to contribute to the knowledge of the process of construction of colonial Peruvian society and of the period ofCristóbal Vaca de Castro's government by bringing to the public's attention anunpublished letter written by the governor in Jauja, dated August 18, 1542, a few weeks before the battle of Chupas.

In Northern Europe, images of Saint James the Greater depict the saint as a pilgrim with staff, prayer book and brimmed hat decorated with a scallop shell. On the Iberian Peninsula, however, the saint is generally portrayed very differently – on horseback trampling a cowering Moor underfoot. This image, and others involving Christian saints intervening in battles, was transferred to Africa and then on to the Americas. Within years of the first American conquests, the Moor under the hooves of the triumphant Saint James was portrayed as an Amerindian. Although it is often assumed that these depictions represent an unfeeling celebration of Iberian victory, the reality is more complex.

This essay explores how cultural exchange and evolving emotional responses to conversion and colonisation led both Iberian and indigenous artists to quite literally carve victory out of defeat. It also looks at how sixteenth- and seventeenth-century outsiders responded to these altered heroes of the Reconquista, and at the continuing consequences of Iberia’s attachment to martial myths.

Por su formación intelectual y recorrido biográfico, el Inca Garcilaso fue un mestizo privilegiado. En este texto trataremos de configurar la idea del otro que el autor cuzqueño construye en su discurso; ese otro se relaciona por un lado con el indio americano, pero también con la figura de la mujer, tanto europea como indígena. Así, basándonos en las ideas de Silvia Federici y Rita Segato, estableceremos la mirada de género como un punto de partida para analizar las lecturas que ayudaron a Garcilaso a construir su discurso sobre el otro en La Florida del Inca.

Given his intellectual training and biographical itinerary, Inca Garcilaso was a privileged mestizo. This text aims to define the idea of the 'other' built in Garcilaso's discourse. On one hand, that 'other' is related to the Amerindian, but on the other hand it is strongly related to the female figure, either European or Indigenous. Following Silvia Federici and Rita Segato's studies on gender, I will focus on the readings that led Garcilaso to build his ideas about the 'other' in La Florida del Inca.

RESUMEN
Entre los cronistas el primero y único que ha hecho alusión al señorío de Ishma o Ichma es el sacerdote Cristóbal de Albornoz (1582). El informe nal de La visita toledana (1583) permite conocer su perímetro y organización territorial. Estuvo ubicado en el área yunga y chaupiyunga de la hoy provincia Lima. Su espacio abrazaba, por el sur, desde el valle de Lurín, hasta más allá del valle de Lima por el norte; por tanto, no incluía la arroyada del Chillón. Consecuentemente comprendía dos valles: Lima y Pachacamac. Conformó un Estado señorial de estructura teocrática. Pese a haber ocupado un desierto, los habitantes de Lima sobre todo tuvieron un alto nivel de vida, gracias a su pericia para trazar múltiples canales de riego hasta donde pudieran llegar las aguas del río, para dar vida a un extenso vergel y boscaje. En el otro valle, levantaron la huaca al dios Pachacamac, cuyo oráculo fue visitado y consultado hasta por los sapa incas del Cusco. Hay que enfatizar que Ishma, prácticamente, conserva su ámbito territorial preincaico hasta ahora.

ABSTRACT

Resumen: En este capítulo, considero la conversión religiosa de los indios como objetivo principal de la evangelización católica durante los primeros dos siglos de la Colonia en Huarochirí (sierra de Lima). Demuestro cómo estas actividades eran «presentaciones formales» dirigidas a la conversión del espacio y, por lo tanto, a la conversión del pasado andino (además de la conversión de la gente indígena misma). Debido a su manuscrito quechua de carácter único, Huarochirí ha sido un epicentro tanto del estudio de la evangelización como de la reconstrucción de la cultura e historia prehispánica y colonial. Sin embargo, la prevalencia de estudios etnohistóricos y la falta de investigaciones arqueológicas sistemáticas en el eje central de la composición del manuscrito han impedido una comprensión más profunda de la prehistoria de Huarochirí y sus modos de historicidad asociados. Aquí, se combina historia con arqueología sistemática recientemente hecha en Huarochirí para permitir una visión de ciertas características culturales del entendimiento, codificación y comunicación del pasado, tanto en el registro arqueológico como en el contenido del mismo manuscrito. Las evidencias presentadas desafían la reconstrucción (etno)histórica prevalente del pasado huarochirano, lo que demuestra cómo el contenido y el mismo concepto de la historia fueron convertidos cuando las secuencias narrativas fueron interpretadas como secuencias históricas, lo cual ha ofuscado formas culturalmente distintas de entender, codificar y comunicar el pasado en los Andes indígenas. Datos históricos y arqueológicos adicionales proveen vistas de una «historicidad andina».

Abstract: PACHA AND PERFORMATIVITY: THE COLONIAL CONVERSION OF PREHISTORIC HUAROCHIRÍ In this chapter I consider the religious conversion of Indian populations as the primary objective of Catholic evange-lization during the first two centuries of the Spanish colonial period in Huarochirí (in the highlands east of Lima). I demonstrate how these activities were performative acts aimed at the conversion of space, which had implications for the conversion of the Andean past. Due to its unique Quechua manuscript, Huarochirí has been an epicenter both for studies of evangelization and for the reconstruction of the culture and history of the prehispanic and colonial indigenous world. However, the prevalence of ethnohistoric studies and the lack of systematic archaeology in the central axis of the manu-script's composition has hindered deeper understandings of Huarochirí's past and the different historicities employed in its reconstruction. Here history is combined with recent systematic archaeological research to provide a view of the different ways the past was understood, codified, and communicated in Huarochirí's past–evident both in the material record and in the contents of the manuscript itself. The evidence presented challenges the prevalent ethnohistorical reconstruction of Huarochirí's prehistory, demonstrating how both the contents and the very concept of history were converted as narrative sequences were conflated with historical sequences, obscuring culturally distinct forms of understanding, codifying, and communicating the past in the indigenous Andes. Additional archaeological and historical data provide a glimpse of an «Andean historicity».

Al suroeste de la cuarta región del imperio de los Incas, llamada Cuntisuso, y oeste del Collasuyu existía la subregión denominada Colesuyu. Comprendía las vertientes, laderas y llanuras del poniente, hasta las orillas marítimas. Por el norte comenzaba en lo ríos Chili y Quilca —Arequipa—, aunque más pronunciadamente desde el actual departamento de Moquegua, acabando, por el sur, en la quebrada de Camarones, bien que otros documentos quinientistas aseveran que se extendía a partir de Camaná hasta el pequeño río de Pica-Loa. En consecuencia, encerraba valles y desiertos, aparte de las playas ocupadas por pescadores camancha-cas o changos que intercambiaban sus productos con labradores y ganaderos. Entre Collisuyo y el lago Puquinacocha (Titicaca) se interponía el ámbito Urcosuyo. Al este de la citada palude se encontraba la otra subdivisión llamada Umasuyo. Y más allá la nombrada Manca. No fueron creaciones de los incas, sino instauraciones hechas en edades más antiguas.

ABSTRACT
Southwest of the fourth region of the empire of the Incas, called Cuntisuso, and west of Collasuyu existed subregion have called Collisuyu. The so-called "rebellion" of Juan Santos Atahualpa in the central Peruvian jungle (1742) is one of the great paradoxes related to the historiographical studies of colonial Peru. This article attempts to present a renovating view on the subject.

The Holy Office of the Inquisition in Colonial Spanish America was only partially successful in its mission to rule on heresy, bigamy, sexual misconduct, and witchcraft. The Holy Office had too large a mission, spread over a very large geographical area with inadequate resources.  The viceroyalty, secular Church authorities and religious orders constrained its mandate.  As a large bureaucracy, it had many internal problems and external pressures.    As a result, it executed only 6% of the cases brought forward.  (A Term Paper for HTST 365 in December 2013 at the University of Calgary.)

El presente artículo pretende analizar el espacio andino y los pueblos indígenas, desde la lectura de los textos de burócratas e intelectuales de fines del siglo xviii. La perspectiva se enmarca dentro del escenario sociocultural
de la Ilustración colonial tardía. La descripción histórica de la geografía de Andahuaylas, Pachachaca, entre otras localidades propias del Partido de Abancay, se encuentra dentro de la célebre colección de artículos del Mercurio
Peruano. La descripción corresponde al juez de retasas de indios, Manuel Espinavete, uno de los funcionarios que acompañó al visitador José Antonio de Areche en los diversos juicios acontecidos durante la rebelión de Túpac Amaru II. Posterior a ello, Espinavete continuó viviendo en el Perú y se le encuentra en una de las zonas neurálgicas del tránsito andino: Abancay. Su labor consistió en verificar el número de indios de las diversas comunidades, en coordinación con las autoridades indígenas (caciques, alcaldes de indios y principales) en cotejo con los libros parroquiales del lugar. El presente artículo de investigación es una reflexión sobre el texto, a modo de “memoria” que escribió Espinavete, años después de su experiencia en Abancay.

This book examines the oscillating identities of the colonial descendants of Inca kings in
the eighteenth-century borders of the Spanish empire, by means of discursive analysis of the petitions of nobility by the Uchu Túpac Yupanqui family of Lambayeque, Perú. The unpublished manuscript of such record, classified as Mexico 2346 in Seville’s Archivo General de Indias, depicts the twelve-year legal and social journey of doña María Joaquina Uchu Inca in viceregal Mexico. The study of written and visual iconic texts reveals the history of the Uchu Yupanqui family from 1544 to 1801.

El comercio de drogas americanas en el siglo XVIII
y el aprovisionamiento de la Real Botica
En el tema del aprovisionamiento de drogas, de origen americano
y filipino, a la Real Botica, han confluido dos de las líneas principales de investigación, en el Departamento de Historia de la Farmacia y Legislación farmacéutica de la Universidad de Granada .
Dichos temas son la Historia de la Real Botica como institución real y la recopilación de cuantas noticias sobre drogas americanas aparecen en textos impresos y manuscritos y, sobre todo, a través de las documentaciones de las expediciones científicas.
Aunque el objetivo fundamental del trabajo es el aportar datos relativos al aprovisionamiento de drogas, de origen americano, a la Real Botica en el siglo XVIII, y con una mayor concreción, en su segunda mitad, no podernos sustraernos de arrancar de algo más atrás, cronológicamente, aunque de una forma sumaria, para comprender mejor la situación que queremos enmarcar, con mayor precisión, de la segunda mitad del siglo XVIII.
Se expone, con brevedad,  el panorama que se presenta, a partir
del último tercio del siglo xv,  con las exploraciones de los portugueses
primero y después con los descubrimientos españoles . Porque
ambos mundos se nos van a unir a los españoles, haciendo
realidad el secreto deseo de Colón, aunque fuese a través de una
larga y azarosa marcha. El llamado «Galeón de Manila"  va a unir,
a través de «Nueva España , en viaje s comerciales anuales, el extremo
oriente con la península. Aunque hay que destacar que esta vía no hace llegar demasiadas drogas orientales, algunas de forma más bien testimonial, llegan para el servicio de la Real Botica, pero muy poco para el comercio general, ya que portugueses primero y holandeses después, introducirían estas drogas, junto a las especias características, en el mercado español.

Women’s literary expression in colonial Latin America started as a crossroad of rhetorical practices and textual devices that included the knowledge and transmission of oral traditions, visual iconic narratives, tangible systems of record keeping, and the incorporation of the alphabetic script.  This essay examines examples of the written production of Inca noblewomen in colonial Latin America that can be seen as “arts of the contact zone” and “autoethnographic texts.” In the space provided by the ink, paper and the colonial archive, these individuals negotiated the place of oral and visual practices of expression in the production of legal writings. Inca elite women like sixteenth-century Doña Inés Huaylas Yupanqui and late eighteenth-century Doña María Joaquina Uchu Túpac Yupanqui used the quill to dictate and sign legal documents to claim resources and power through the acknowledgment of their noble genealogies. By doing this, they also developed a female consciousness as mulieres litterarum that can be traced for more than 250 years. Themes developed by these women include ethnic pride, social mobility, noble genealogies, and awareness of their written word and visual icons used in their best interest.

En el año 1629 comenzaron las explotaciones mineras en el cerro de Quiruvilca, sierra del departamento de La Libertad, pero la veta grande fue descubierta y trabajada desde 1634, gracias a la constancia de Fernando de Ahedo y Sara+via, fundador del asiento minero, quien le puso el nombre de San José de Quiruvilca. Desde un principio bracearon trabajadores que nunca fueron compelidos a mitas. Produjo plata de buena ley. Fue visitada por Martínez Compañón, obispo humanista de la era borbónica. Tuvo un régimen laboral acorde a las costumbres de los
siglos xvii al xix. En el xx pasó al control de empresas transnacionales que además de plata, extraen otros metales. Perdura hasta hoy, tiempo durante el cual ha dado origen a una amplia población humana que vive en un enorme asentamiento urbano.

RESUMEN
Apucuracazgo originado y desarrollado en lo que ahora es la provincia de Huamanga en la región Ayacucho. Duró tanto en el Intermedio Tardío como en el imperio del Tahuantinsuyo. Su declive comenzó con la instauración del virreinato. Internamente se subdividía en Anan y Urin, con sus respectivos ayllus. Los incas lo coparon con mitmas, en especial con Acos desterrados del norte del Cusco, como sanción por un acto de atrevimiento cometido en agravio de Pachacutec. El contacto con los hispanos mermó su material humano, a causa del contagio de enfermedades letales. Para los que sobrevivieron la administración colonial fundó pueblos con el nombre de reducciones. Entre estos subsisten La Natividad de Quinua y Vinchos.

ABSTRACT
Apucuracazgo originated and evolved into what is now the province of Huamanga in Ayacucho. It takes both the Late Intermediate Period and the rule of Tahuantinsuyo. Its decline began with the establishment of the viceroyalty. Internally it was divided into Anan and Urin, with their ayllu. The Incas took a clean sweep with mitmas, especially Acos banished from the north of Cusco, as a punishment for an act committed against daring of Pachacutec. Contact with Hispanics affected its human material, owing to the spread of deadly diseases. For those who survived the colonial administration established towns with the name of reductions. These remain Nativity Quinoa and Vinchos
