The Yemen, is the birth place and hub for a number of monotheistic religious convictions . In its North West region, just 243 kilometers away from San'aa, the official capital of the Republic of Yemen , lies a spiritual center, a holy metropolis known as Saa'da  .
It is to Zaidi Islam as Qum is to Shia Islam and Mecca is to Sunni Islam. It is where the scholars dwell, to read, learn and teach their disciples to carry on the doctrine and preserve the faith throughout history.
It is here that the Houthi phenomenon first appeared.
This study focuses on the very beginnings of Houthism as a phenomenon, it's source and affiliations. It is but the first part of a series of papers that will delve into the movement as it expands over time.

Kelam tarihi denilince ilk akla gelen ekol, hiç şüphesiz ki bu ilmi kurarak metodunu oluşturan ve meseleleri belirli bir disiplin ve prensip içerisinde ele alan Mu‘tezile’dir. Akaidden kelama geçiş sürecinin baş aktörleri olan Mu‘tezilî kelamcıların hayatları hakkındaki bilinen tek müstakil eser Kâdî Abdülcebbâr’ın (ö. 415) Fazlu’l-İ‘tizâl ve Tabakâtü’l-Mu‘tezile isimli eseridir. Ebü’l-Kâsım el-Belhî’nin (ö. 319/931) Kitâbü’l-Makâlât’ının “Bâbu zikri’l-Mu‘tezile”; Hâkim el-Cüşemî’nin (ö. 494) Şerhu’l-‘uyûn’unun “Fasl fî zikri tabakâti’l-Mu‘tezile” ve İbnü’l-Murtazâ’nın (ö. 840/1437) el-Münye ve’l-emel’inin “Zikru’l-Mu‘tezile” bölümleri ise Mu‘tezilî kelamcılar hakkında kaleme alınan kitap bölümleridir.
Mezhebin bizzat içindeki ya da onlara yakın olan kişiler tarafından yazılan bu eserlerin yanı sıra genel tabakât kitaplarında da hem ekoller bazında hem de tek tek isimler bazında Mu‘tezilî kelamı ve kelamcıları ele alınmıştır. Bu tebliğimizde Mu‘tezilî tabakâtından bahseden bu dört eser esas alınarak, yer yer diğer tabakât kitaplarıyla da karşılaştırmalar yapılmak suretiyle Mu‘tezile mezhebinin kuruluşunda ve ekolleşmesinde etkin rolleri olan mütekellimlerin tabaka halinde ele alınmalarındaki ortak ve farklı hareket noktaları değerlendirilecek; tabakat eserleri arasında karşılaştırmalar yapılarak Tabakâtü’l-Mu‘tezile literatürünün nasıl oluşturulduğu irdelenecektir.

When the history of Kalām is discussed, the first Kalām school comes to mind with no doubt is the Mu‘tazilah, its founder and methodiser which approaches to its problems in a very distinctive discipline. There are various individual works written on the lives of prominent Mutazilite scholars, namely: “Bāb Dhikr al-Mu‘tazilah” in Kitāb al-Maqālāt of Abū al-Qāsim al-Balkhī (d. 319), Ṭabaqāt al-Mu‘tazilah of al-Qāḍī ‘Abd al-Jabbār (d. 415), Sharḥ al-‘Uyūn of al-Ḥākim al-Jushamī (d. 494) and “Dhikr al-Mu‘tazilah” in al-Munyah wa’l-Amal of Ibn al-Murtaḍā (d. 840).
Apart from these works which are written by directly Mutazilite scholars or scholars with similar theological tendencies, Mutazilite School and its scholars have been studied and classified by many other ṭabaqāt works on the basis of the school or its particular scholars. In this work, by the lead of four aforementioned Mutazilite ṭabaqāt works and with some help of others, it is attempted to analyse different and/or common aspects in the introduction of prominent figures of Mutazilite, whether in its foundation or development, within ṭabaqāt form and to assess the formation of Ṭabaqāt al-Mu‘tazilah genre by comparing these different works.

We were one strong Ummah, believing in Tawheed, then differed, thus weaknesses. Division and differences in Islam are something inevitable, to which history bears witness.
A sect is a subgroup of a religious, political, or philosophical belief system, usually an offshoot of a larger group.  This Ummah was prophesized to be divided into 73 sects, all of them in the hellfire except one; that which Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and his companions (may Allaah be pleased with them) are upon.
However, leniency is one of the major characteristics of every sunnah scholar regarding the explanation of Kitaab and Sunnah to the erred sects or groups but this is not in the book of many young scholars today. Thus, lots of right-thinking and religiously committed Islamic intellectuals, scholars, and professionals have been disenchanting with the state of the Muslim Ummah presently.
This called for more elaboration on sects in Islam, and a dire need of this Ummah for a correct way of regulating our differences and living with them, collaborating on common grounds, and excusing one another on naysaying issues by Kitaab and Sunnah.
Oh brethren, adhere to the jamaa’ah (group) of the Muslims and their leader. And if there is no jamaa’ah and no leader, then, keep away from all those different sects.

'Kitaab at-Tawheed' (‘The Book of Monotheism’) is the famous Sunni theologian Abu Mansoor al-Maturidi’s (d. 333/944) magnum opus: both the work and its author became the foundation of Sunni theological and philosophical thought until the present day. Its early provenance and originality as well as wide and enduring influence make this book essential for students of theology, philosophy, and the history of ideas. Yet despite the wide purported influence of and devotion to his ideas, Maturidi’s work has however been strangely neglected by Muslim and non-Muslim scholars alike. This book is the first of two volumes comprising the first ever English translation - with commentary - of ‘Kitaab at-Tawheed’.

This work is unique in that it provides a detailed and holistic approach to Islamic theology whilst also being its earliest extant comprehensive source. Maturidi presents the epistemological foundations of his teaching, provides detailed arguments in defence of monotheism - including his cosmological doctrines such as proofs that the universe is created and its ontological, temporal or infinite nature. He also focuses on God, his existence, the differences between God and created entities, and the names and attributes of God, analysing issues related to anthropomorphism and the speech and the vision of God.

Regardless of theological affiliation, this is an indispensable work for academics and laymen alike.

We examine a hitherto unstudied debate, turning on the epistemology of value judgements, between Ashʿarīs and Baṣran Muʿtazilīs of the late eleventh and twelfth centuries. Al-Ghazālī and al-Rāzī countered Muʿtazilī ethical realism, here defended by al-Malāḥimī, by developing an emotive subjectivism underpinned by increasingly sophisticated psychological accounts of ethical motivation. Value judgements, they maintained, arise not from knowledge of some ethical attributes of acts themselves, but from subjective inclinations, which are often elusive because they can be unconscious or indirect. We also argue against the widespread notion that Ashʿarīs espoused an anti-rationalist ethics, and we show that they were not only ethical rationalists, but also the more innovative side in this debate.

Bu çalışma, kelam düşüncesinde yer verilen bilimsel bilgi ve kelamın bilim ile kurduğu ilişkiyi ele almaktadır. Kelamcılar, kelamın teşekkülü ile birlikte bilim tarihi açısından bilim olarak kabul edilen alanlarla ilişki kurmuş, kelam eserlerinde bu bilgi türüne benimseme ya da eleştiri bağlamında yer vermiştir. Allah’ın görülmesinin imkanının tartışıldığı rü’yetullah meselesi, görme duyumunun teorik açıklamasını içermesi bağlamında kelamcıların bilimin araştırma alanına giren görme konusundaki yaklaşımları üzerinden kelam-bilim ilişkisini incelemeye müsait bir konudur.

Çalışma iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde rü’yetullah konusu, problemin tarihsel sürecinden başlamak üzere, erken dönem Mu‘tezile Eş‘arîyye ve Mâtürîdîyye kelamındaki tartışmalar çerçevesinde ortaya konulmuştur. Bu çerçevede Allah’ın görülemeyeceği ve görülebileceği iddialarının akli ve nakli delilleri ele alınmış, zaman ve mekan açısından Allah’ın görülmesinin tartışıldığı bağlamlar ayrıca incelenmiştir. İkinci bölümde rü’yetullah tartışmaları sebebiyle kelam içerisinde yer alan bilim olarak görme duyumunun teorisi tespit edilmiştir. Bu çerçevede kelamcıların görmenin gerçekleşebilmesi için gerekli olan şartlar, görme süreci, görmenin gerçekleşme biçimi, görmeyi engelleyen problemler ve nelerin görülebileceği konularındaki yaklaşımları incelenmiştir. Kelamcıların bilimsel bilgi ile kurduğu ilişki ise, görme olgusu çerçevesinde teolojinin bilimsel açıklamayı belirlemesi ve bilimsel açıklamanın teolojiyi belirlemesinin örnekleri üzerinden açıklanmıştır. Son olarak kelamcıların görme konusundaki temel iddialarının güncel bilim açısından değerlendirmesi yapılmıştır.

In this doctoral thesis, the scientific knowledge in Islamic theology (Kalām) and the relationship between theology and science has been studied. Islamic theologians (Mutakallimūn), with the formation of Kalām, established relations with the fields categorized as science in terms of the history of science, and included parts of this knowledge in their books. Vision of God (Ruʿyat Allāh) issue is a suitable subject for examining the Kalām-science relationship because of Mutakallimūn’s investigation of the theoretical explanation of the sense of sight within the subject.

This study consists of two chapters. In the first chapter, the subject of Ruʿyat Allāh is portrayed within the framework of the discussions in the early Muʿtazilah, Ashʿariya and and Māturīdīyah Kalām, starting with the history of the problem. The proofs of Mutakallimūn about whether Ruʿyat Allāh is possible or not are discussed and various aspects of the issue in terms of time and place are also scrutinized. In the second chapter, Mutakallimūn’s theory of vision, which is the science within Kalām due to the problem of Ruʿyat Allāh, is unveiled. In this context, assumptions of Mutakallimūn about the conditions necessary for seeing, the mechanism of seeing, the problems that prevent seeing and what can be seen are examined. The relationship between Kalām and scientific knowledge is explained through examples of theology's determination of scientific explanation and the scientific explanation's determination of theology within the framework of sight. Lastly, principal claims of the Mutakallimūn about vision are evaluated in terms of contemporary science.

The Mu tazilī theologians, particularly the later Imāmī ones, developed numerous, interesting arguments against divine command theory. The arguments, however, have not received the attention they deserve. Some of the arguments have been discussed in passing, and some have not been discussed at all. In this paper, I aim to present and analyse the arguments. To that end, I first distinguish between different semantic, ontological, epistemological, and theological theses that were often conflated in the debate, and examine the logical relation among them. Then I go over the Mu tazila's arguments determining, among other things, which of the theses was targeted by each argument. In presenting the arguments, I focus mainly on the late kalām period, the period falling roughly between the thirteens and fifteens centuries of the common era, as the arguments were at their most sophisticated level by this time.

Sharif al-Murtada (d. 436/1044) who is a Shiite-Mu’tazilite scholar in the fifth
century AH, an eminent theologian as well as a commentator of Qur’an. In his remarkable
work entitled Gurerü’l-fawaid wa dürerü’l-kalâid (Amâlî al-Murtada), he exegises various
Qur’anic verses according to Shiite-Mu’tazilite theological thought. This article deals with
the problem of the vision of God (ru’yatullah) and predestination (Qadha-Qadar) from
the point of view Shiite-Mu’tazilite perspective of the Qur’anic interpretation. Also I will
compare this Qur’anic understanding with the Sunni Qur’anic interpretation.

This is my Bachelor Thesis about Good and Evil according to the two Sunni Schools, the Asharis and Maturidis, also dealing with the Mutazilite view.

Research works on Mu’tazila in Turkey since 1920 have been evaluated in this review study. There are also researchers who consider Mu‘tazila as a belief system as well as those who think it as a philosophical movement. However, seeing Mu‘tazila only as a theological sects is actually prevents the capacity of this school in its fields of existence, knowledge, morality, aesthetics, language and politics, with which this school can contribute to the solutions for various problems in contemporary philosophy. Unfortunately, almost all studies on Mu’tazila usually attempted to illustrate this school as a historical thought. However, this approach is likely to be unnecessary and not sufficient for the mobilization of Mu’tazilî ideas in contemporary philosophy. There are some topics have yet to be studied or adequately addressed albeit many of Mu’tazila topics have been dealt until today. Moreover, there is not even enough comparison in Mu‘tazila studies. Comparisons between Mu’tazila and Islamic philosophical thoughts have also been found limited to only a few studies as well.

This article presents and analyzes a new source on the relationship between hadith and Sufism, a juzʾ in the library of the University of Leipzig titled Juzʾ fīhi qiṣṣat al-ʿAbbās b. Ḥamza maʿa Dhī l-Nūn al-Miṣrī raḥmat Allāh ʿalayhi, “An Encounter of al-ʿAbbās b. Ḥamza with Dhū l-Nūn al-Miṣrī.” The text is an account of the visit of Abū l-Faḍl al-ʿAbbās b. Ḥamza b. Ashūsh of Nishapur (d. 288/901) to Dhū l-Nūn al-Miṣrī (d. ca 245/859-860), an influential figure in the early mystical tradition. By underlying the difference between a mainstream ḥadīth transmission and what the text calls ḥadīth al-riqāq (“heart-melting traditions”), the text helps to defend early ascetics and mystics against accusations of being “weak transmitters” of prophetical traditions

İslam düşünce tarihinde hidâyet ve dalâlet meselesi kelam literatüründe kulların fiilleri ile “kaza, kader, özgür irade” gibi başlıklar altında ele alınmıştır. İslâm âlimleri hidâyet ve dalâletin ilâhî kaynaklı olduğunu temel bir prensip olarak kabul etmekle birlikte söz konusu iki kavramın tanımı ve mahiyeti konusunda farklı görüşler benimsemişlerdir. Bunun temel sebeplerinden biri konuyla ilgili ilk bakışta çelişkili gibi görünen farklı ayetlerin yer almasıdır. Bu konuda iki farklı ayet grubunun yer alması doğal olarak farklı görüşlerin ileri sürülmesine neden olmuştur. Bu çalışmada bu teorik zemin esas alınarak Ehl-i Sünnet, Mu‘tezile ve Şîa gibi kelam ekollerinin konuya dair temel yaklaşımları kıyaslamalı bir metod kullanılarak tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır.

ABSTRACT
In the history of Islamic thought, the issue of guidance (hidâyet) and heresy has been dealt with under the titles of “qada, fate, free will” in the literature of kalam. Although Islamic scholars accept the divine origin of guidance and heresy as a basic principle, they have different views on the definition and nature of the two concepts in question. One of the main reasons for this is that there are different verses on the subject that seem contradictory at first glance. For instance, the verses such as “So Allah leads astray those whom He pleases and guides whom He pleases” (Ibrahim 14/4); “To such as Allah rejects from His guidance, there can be no guide” (The Elevated Place 7/186); “…yet surely Allah does not guide him who leads astray…” (The Bee 16/37) state that guidance and heresy are in the hands of Allah and that humans have nothing to do with this issue. However, some other verses such as “…and whatever misfortune befalls you, it is from yourself…” (Women 4/79); “Whoever goes aright, for his own soul does he go aright; and whoever goes astray, to its detriment only does he go astray…” (The Israelites 17/15); “It is naught but a reminder for the nations, For him among you who pleases to go straight” (The Covering Up 81/27-28) state that it is up to humans to choose guidance and heresy The presence of two different verse groups on this subject naturally caused different views to be put forward. In this study, based on this theoretical basis, the basic approaches of kalam schools such as Ahl al-Sunna, Muʿtazila and Shīʿa on the subject were tried to be determined using a comparative method.

Bu kitap öznenin ahlâkî açıdan kendisini inşa etmesini konu edinmektedir. Elbette ki böyle bir inşayı gerçekleştirmek de onu ele almak da zordur. Çünkü öznenin ahlâksal bir yaşam biçimini edinmesini izah etmek için; beslenme, cinsellik, arzu, öfke ve düşünmek gibi insanı özne kılan bir çok etken hakkında düşünmek ve bu etkenlerin ilişki ağını ve çevreyle olan ilişkisini çözümlemek gerekmektedir. Dahası özneyle barışık olan bir yaşam biçimini sıradanlaştıran birtakım kendilik pratikleri örnekleri ortaya koymak gerekmektedir.
Doğa ve Öznellik bu sorunu 9. yüzyıl düşünürü Câhız’ın eserleri ve düşünceleri üzerinden tartışmaktadır. Genellikle hayat hakkında yazan Câhız, şarkıcı cariyelerin hâlet-i rûhiyelerini, mizansenlerin meziyetini, cebinden bir şey verirken iç çekişmesi yaşayan cimrileri, körleri ve topalları, konuşmanın erdemini, müziğin katkısını ve daha pek çok farklı yönde hayata dokunan konuları yazmıştır. Câhiz, hayatta gösterdiğimiz tüm davranışların, dahası korkaklık, cesaret ve kıskançlık gibi ahlâkî durumların; doğamızın derinliklerinde yer alan cinsellik ve beslenme eğilimlerinden kaynaklandığını düşünmektedir. Onun düşüncesinde saçımızı taramak isteği bile bu eğilimlerin dışa vurmasından başka bir şey değildir. Temelleri derinlerde yer alan alışkanlıkların değiştirilmesinde aklın yapabileceklerini eserlerinde tartışan Câhız, mizah yapma, yazı yazma, konuşma ve topluma karışma gibi sıradan olayların ideal bir ahlakın edinilmesindeki rolünün olduğunu düşünür ve aklın buyruklarının bu tür sıradan olaylarla doğal bir niteliğe dönüşebileceğini kabul eder.
İslam ahlak felsefesinin ilk eserlerini yazmış olmasına rağmen Câhız’ın bu yönü pek dikkate alınmamıştır. Câhız’ın ahlak düşüncesini ele alan ilk eserlerden olan bu çalışmada klasik metinler güncel bir yoruma tabi tutulmakta olup fizik, insanın doğası, zihinsel durumlar ve bilgi gibi birçok konunun ahlâkla ilişkisi kurulmaktadır.

The aim of this article is to discuss the causality concepts of Muslim scholars (mutakallimūn) in terms of modern physics theories and to shed light on the ongoing debates in this context. It is possible to say that there are three attitudes about causality in the Islamic kalām. The first one is the concepts that adopt the principle of causality based on the theory of nature (ṭabʽ); the second is the concepts of Ashārītes that deny causality and explain the relations between entities in the universe with the concept of possibility based on the theory of custom (ʽādah), and the third one is the understanding of the Baṣra school, which accepts causality in some subjects and explains some issues with the concept of ʽādah. In modern physics, a similar divergence is seen between Newtonian determinist understandings and indeterminist understandings based on Quantum uncertainty. In some recent research, it is argued that there are significant similarities between the principle of quantum uncertainty and the theory of custom. In this article, the causality conceptions of mutakallimūn are addressed with the context of the theories of ʽādah and ṭabʽ. Then analyzes are made on the aspects of these understandings that match and diverge with the idea of causality implied by modern physics. Consequently, a new reading is suggested, taking into account modern physics, based on the theories of mutakallimūn who accept natures and causality in natural beings-especially Abū Isḥāq al-Naẓẓām (d. 231/845)- .

Bu makalede, Müslüman kelâmcıların nedensellik anlayışları modern fizik teorileri açısından ele alınmakta ve bu çerçevede süregelen tartışmalara ilişkin değerlendirmeler yapılmaktadır. Nedensellik konusunda, arada farklı tonlar olmakla birlikte, kelâmda üç farklı anlayışın olduğu görülmektedir. Bunların ilkinde nedensellik ilkesi tümüyle reddedilmektedir. Eşʽarîlerin temsil ettiği bu yaklaşımda neden ile sonuç arasındaki ilişkinin zorunlu olmadığı, âlemde meydana gelen tüm değişim ve olayların doğrudan Allah’ın yaratması ve âdetiyle gerçekleştiği savunulmaktadır. Bu yaklaşımın temelinde, onların savunduğu atomculuk doktrininde tüm cevherlerin denk olması, hiçbir arazın sürekli olamaması, Allah’ın dışında hiçbir varlığın yoktan bir şey meydana getirememesi gibi kabuller yatmaktadır. Ayrıca onlar, varlıkların bağımsız işleyen bir tabiata sahip olduğu fikrinin, Allah’ın tabiata müdahalesini ve dolayısıyla mucizeyi imkansız kılacağını düşünmüşlerdir. Nedensellik konusundaki ikinci yaklaşım Muʽtezile’nin Basra ekolüne aittir. Onlar nedensellik ilkesini belli bir ölçüde kabul etmişlerdir. Çünkü onların cevher-araz anlayışında, cevherlerin bazı arazları meydana getirmesi ve bu arazların sürekliliği mümkün olduğu gibi, cisimlerdeki iʽtimâdlar onların başka cisimler üzerinde tesir meydana getirmesine de imkan verir. Böylelikle nesnelerin birbirini etkilemesi, yani neden-sonuç ilişkisi mümkün olmaktadır. Ayrıca onlar tevlîd teorisiyle, bir fâilin fiilinin doğadaki sonuçlarının nedensellik ilkesi gereği zorunlu bir şekilde meydana geldiğini kabul etmişlerdir. Bazı konularda ise işleyişin âdet gereği olduğunu kabul ederek mutlak determizm fikrinden uzaklaşmışlardır. Üçüncü yaklaşım ise Mu‘ammer (ö. 215/830), Nazzâm (ö. 231/845), Câhız (ö. 255/869) ve Ka‘bi (ö. 319/931) gibi Muʽtezilî âlimlerin savunduğu tabiat/tabʽ teorisidir. Bu anlayışta nesnelerin Allah tarafından belirli tabiatlar üzere yaratıldıkları ve bu tabiatların bir gereği olarak neden-sonuç ilişkisi içerisinde varlıklarını sürdürdükleri kabul edilmektedir. Bu isimlerden Nazzâm ve Câhız sebep-sonuç ilişkisinin her durumda zorunlu olarak gerçekleşmeyeceğini, sebep olduğu halde bazı engellerden dolayı sonucun meydana gelmeyebileceğini de vurgulamıştır. Bu yönüyle onlar tabiatların kendi yapılarından kaynaklanan mekanik bir işleyişi reddetmiş, ilahi müdahaleye açık ve mucizenin mümkün olduğu bir evren tasavvurunu savunmuşlardır.
İslam düşüncesinde tabiat ve âdet teorileri etrafında cereyan eden nedensellik tartışmalarının bir benzeri modern fizikte determinizm-indeterminizm şeklinde cereyan etmektedir. Newton fiziğinin egemen olduğu bilim çevrelerinde determinizm savunulurken bazı kuantum fizikçileri belirsizlik ilkesinin indeterminist bir evren tablosu sunduğunu ileri sürmektedir. Kopenhag Yorumu olarak da bilinen bu yaklaşıma göre varlığın en temel yapı taşları olan atomaltı parçacıklar bazen parçacık bazen de dalga gibi davrandığından onlara ait hız ve konum gibi niteliklerin tam olarak tespit edilmesi mümkün değildir. Burada ancak olasılıklardan söz edilebilir. Parçacıkların davranışları ölçüldüğünde ise gözlemcinin ve gözlem yapılan aletin etkisi parçacığın davranışını bozmakta ve bu olasılıklardan birinin gerçekleşmesine yol açmaktadır. Öte yandan “kuantum dolanıklığı” ve “uzaktan etki” ile ilgili deneylerden elde edilen veriler iki parçacığın uzayzamanda herhangi bir bağlantı olmaksızın uzaktan etkiyle birbirilerini etkileyebileceği ortaya konmuştur. Bu durum klasik fizikteki nedensellik ilkesinin tümüyle ihlal edilmesi anlamına gelmektedir. Bazı fizikçiler ise atomaltı dünyada nedensel ilişkilerin tümüyle geçersiz olduğu, atomların ve elektronların hareketlerinin herhangi bir nedeni olmadığı şeklindeki yorumların yanlış olduğunu savunmaktadırlar. Onlara göre burada olasılıksal bir determinist bir yapı hala geçerlidir. Çünkü atomaltı dünyadaki olaylar belli olasılıklar çerçevesinde meydana gelmekte ve bu olasılıklar da kendisinden önceki dalga fonksiyonları tarafından belirlenmektedir. Kuantum fiziği ise sadece sonuçların önceden kesin olarak öngörülemeyeceğini ve nedenlerin sonuçlar tarafından zorunlu olarak belirlenmediğini ortaya koymaktadır.
Şimdiye kadar yapılan çalışmalarda genellikle Kopenhag Yorumu ile âdet teorisi karşılaştırılmış ve iki teorinin büyük ölçüde örtüştüğü savunulmuştur. Bu makalede ise varlıklardaki tabiatları ve nedenselliği kabul eden kelamcıların teorileri teorileri ile Kuantum fiziğinin soft-determinist yorumları karşılaştırılmaktadır. Buradan hareketle de modern fiziği dikkate alan yeni bir okuma önerilmektedir. Nazzâm'ın kumûn-zuhūr kavramlarını ve atomcu kelamcıların cevher-araz kavramlarını ödünç alarak bunu şöyle ifade edebiliriz: Elektron, tıpkı cevher gibi konum ve momentum gibi niteliklere sahip değildir, sadece belli olasılıklara sahiptir. Dolayısıyla, boyutu olmadığı için, dalga fonksiyonu çökünceye, yani konum ve hız gibi niteliklere sahip oluncaya kadar gerçek bir varlığı da yoktur. Bu dalga fonksiyonlarında bulunan tüm olasılıklar, maddede gizli (kumûn) potansiyel olasılıklar olarak tanımlanabilir. Bunlardan birinin ortaya çıkması ve aktüel hale gelmesi maddenin de gerçek anlamda var olması anlamında gelir. İslam düşüncesinde, sözü edilen olasılıklar arasında seçim yapan, dalga fonksiyonunun çökmesini sağlamayan ve hem gözlemcinin hem de hem de nesnenin aktüel bir gerçeklik olarak var olmasını sağlayan Allah'tır. Böyle bir karar vericinin varlığı kabul edilmezse, bu olasılıklardan hiçbiri gerçekleşmek için yeterli bir sebebe sahip olamaz. Bu şekilde nitelik kazanan nesnelerin, bu nitelikler aracılığıyla diğer nesneler üzerinde etkili olması mümkündür. Mucizelere gelince, Allah normalde görmeye alışık olduğumuz durumla çelişen en düşük olasılığı yaratarak mucizeleri meydana getirebilir. Sonuç olarak böyle bir varsayımda hem doğadaki nedensel ilişkiler hem de varlıkların belli tabiatlara sahip olduğu kabul edilmiş olur. Bu da varlıkların tabiatlarından kaynaklanan mutlak determinist bir yapıyı reddetmekle birlikte ilahi fiiller ve mucizeleri kabul etmeye imkan sağlar.

<b>Zaydī-Muʿtazilī religious thought in Yemen (9th/15th through 12th/18th centuries)</b>
The article offers a bibliographical aperçu of Zaydī-Muʿtazilī Kalām-studies from the 15th through 18th centuries based on MS Munich, Bavarian State Library, Cod. arab. 1294. This codex contains ʿAbd Allāh b. Muḥammad al-Naǧrī’s as yet unedited K. Mirqāt al-anẓār, a major kalām textbook which for almost three centuries constituted the backbone of Zaydī kalām-studies. The body of the text is surrounded by extensive marginal notes (ḥawāšī) which mostly consist of quotations from a wide variety of Zaydī and Sunnī sources dating from the 4th/10th century up to the copy date of the manuscript in 1108/1696. In contrast to the early reception of Bahšamī kalām among the Zaydīs in Yemen during the 6th/12th and 7th/13th centuries, which has been the focus of several studies over the last few decades, the subsequent periods remain largely unexplored. The sources of this period, which have yet to be investigated, provide a window into an important moment in the history of Muslim Kalām. They are remarkable for their intellectual vitality, their engagement with and critical reception of multiple rival intellectual traditions and contemporaneous scholarly trends and the accordingly dense network of intertextualities they display. This article represents the first step toward filling this lacuna in the intellectual history of the Islamic world in general and of Yemen in particular. The article also discusses the structure and reception history of Ibn al-Murtaḍá's (d. 840/1436-37) al-Baḥr al-zakhkhār and Ghāyāt al-afkār, Zaydī scholars studying with Sunnī teachers and engaging with the later Ashʿarite tradition; Sunnī-Ashʿarī commentaries on and refutations of Zaydī theological manuals, culminating in al-Quwayʿī's (d. 1068/1658) pseudonymic Kitāb al-Nibrās and the ensuing Zaydī counter-refutations such as Kitāb al-Iḥtirās ʿan nār al-Nibrās.

The linguistic imaginations of Islamic legal theoreticians are centered on the theory of assignation (wad‘). The term wad‘ refers to assigning a meaning to a noun, or, as more classically called, an expression. The literal meaning of an expression in language refers to the truth (haqīqa) whereas its usage in another meaning, in some sense connected to the original meaning, refers to the figurative/metaphorical meaning. Theoretical jurisprudential literature has debated whether the literary meaning of an expression changes by the conduct of the Shāri‘ and, if so, whether jurists can use the term al-haqīqa al-shar‘iyya (legal truths) as a kind of truth for the nouns that are argued to have acquired different meanings.
In this article, I will first examine some aspects of the concepts related to al-haqīqa al-shar‘iyya in a historical and intellectual context. Then, by a close reading of the classical works of theologians and Hanafi legal scholars, I will try to show how the argument evolved from total denial of al-haqīqa al-shar‘iyya (after al-Bāqillānī) into a gradual acceptance in almost all Sunni traditions (especially starting with al-Juwaynī). My objective is to outline the landmarks concerning the ideas on the conduct of the Shāri‘ on the meanings of nouns by pointing particularly to al-Bāqillānī and, after him, certain theologians and Hanafi jurists. I aim to highlight the changes in ideas in their proper intellectual and historical contexts.

Son yüzyıllarda sürekli olarak Müslüman toplumlarda nüzûl-i İsa ve zuhur-i Mehdî tartışma konusu olmaktadır.

Bu tartışma ortamında bulunan Müslümanlar açısından nüzûl-i İsa ve mehdilik inançlarının klasik dönemde kelam bilginleri tarafından nasıl ele alındığı merak konusu olmaktadır. Zihinlerde tartışmanın ne zaman başladığı, nasıl bir ortamda cereyan ettiği, tartışmanın tarafları, klasik dönemde itirazların veya farklı yorumların var olup olmadığı gibi birçok soru cevap beklemektedir.

Bu çalışma da konuya yönelik dile getirilen bu sorunların çözümüne yönelik katkı sağlamayı hedeflemekte ve problemi kendi tarihinde okuma teklifi sunmaktadır. İslam düşünce geleneğinde nüzûl-i İsa ve mehdîlik tartışmalarını Mutezile, Ehl-i Sünnet, İbadîyye ve Zeydîyye ekollerinin yaklaşımları bağlamında tüm detaylarıyla bilimsel bir disiplin içinde irdelemektedir.
