Sorrento

Intervista rilasciata a MalKo per «Hyde Park», 27 giugno 2013, su un progetto di costruzione di un parcheggio interrato multipiano in una porzione di un antico agrumeto della Penisola Sorrentina. Il testo è stato poi rilanciato da "Salviamo il Paesaggio" (14 luglio 2013), ma cambiando e aggravando il titolo dell’articolo.

"La Baia di Napoli. Strategie Integrate per la Conservazione e la Fruizione del Paesaggio Culturale" (Bay of Naples. Integrated strategies for the conservation and fruition of the cultural landscape), edited by Aldo Aveta, Bianca Gioia Marino, Raffaele Amore, contains the results of a multidisciplinary confrontation at the University of Naples, "Federico II", in october 2016. The book was published by artstudiopaparo, october 2017.

My abstract:
The Punta Campanella, known in the past as Promontorium Minervae, is the finis terrae of the Sorrento Peninsula, a place representing a geographical but also historical and identity convergence. Dominated by the “double cusp” of Mount San Costanzo, this last strip of Sorrento land overlooks the island of Capri, and delimits the south of the Gulf of Naples from the north of the Gulf of Salerno. The place is at the center of continued and extended researches operated by geologists and botanists, as well as by archaeologists and historians, and, despite the appearance of a limited number of contributions focusing on this aspect, it is, at multiple levels, also a particularly challenging topic for cultural anthropology. More in detail, its interest is due from one side to the presence of “classical” anthropological subjects, such as local legends and popular toponymy, or religious cults more or less archaic, but still practiced, and from the other side with the existence of hints more in the “avant-garde”, such as a variety of uses of the same territory (by farmers and, in more recent years, the hikers), that are closely linked to a collective imagination, which is, at the same time, both produced and producer of the relationship between beings humans and their places. In my contribution I talk about the sense attributed to the place by some locals to whom I made walking interview and ethnographic surveys: a “sense of place” that now can change because of the opening of a street.

Un'analisi del rapporto tra i sorrentini e le Antiche Mura di difesa cittadina di origine cinquecentesca: una relazione solo parzialmente di tipo storico o storiografico, in quanto quello spazio é innanzitutto sociale e personale: un luogo di ricordi individuali e di comitiva, di azioni, di formazione, di desideri, cioé di percorsi soggettivi e generazionali.

Catalogo ed illustrazione della mostra bibliografica antiquaria, organizzata da F. De Salvia nel Salone della Meridiana del Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli.
Il tema è l'interesse degli studiosi napoletani,fra 500 ed 800, per l'Egitto antico e per le sue
proiezioni archeologiche nella Campania. I siti campani trattati concernano Napoli, i campi flegrei, Ercolano e Pompei, e Sorrento; inoltre è stata considerata anche la
Collezione Egizia del R. Museo Borbonico. Tale mostra è un omaggio per il XVII congresso nazionale di papirologia, e fa da corredo alla mostra archeologica "Civiltà
dell'antico Egitto in campania" (Giugno-Settembre 1983), organizzata nel medesimo Museo con la collaborazione anche dell'Autore.

In June 2020, a French newspaper used a photo of the "Incappucciati" (a Catholic procession) of Sorrento (Italy) in an article that talked about something else, namely members of the Ku Klux Klan. This is a gaffe discovered by the Italian anthropologist Giovanni Gugg, who in this article explains the digital responsibility of each of us.
