1. 1 Scope. Thi s speci f i cati on covers the requi rements f or heat treated
al umi num al l oy di e f orgi ngs, hand f orgi ngs, and ri ng f orgi ngs, produced under
addi ti onal mechani cal property control to ensure known mechani cal properti es f or
parts used i n aerospace cri ti cal appl i cati ons. Thi s speci f i cati on al so covers
the requi rements f or f orgi ngs f urni shed i n the F or 01 condi ti ons whi ch wi l l
ul ti matel y be used i n the heat treated condi ti on.

f orgi ng f l ow l i nes. The speci men l oc~ti on shcul d be i ndi cated on ~he f orgi ng
engi neeri ng drawi ng. I f the speci men l ocati ons are not i ndi cated on the f orgi ng
engi neeri ng drawi ng, they shal l be taken f rom areas representati ve of thi ck and

or ( 3) when the purpose of condi ti ons under whi ch the f orgi ng i s to be USed so
dictates, the requi rements shal l be as spec~f i ed i n the contract, order or
drawi ng. I n such cases, the mechani cal properti es of test speci mens taken f rom
