NOTICE

VALUE POINTS:
• Word Limit: 50
• Max marks: 4 (Format:1, Content:2, Expression:1)
• Repetition of any information should be avoided.
• Always enclose the notice in a box.
• Keep your notice short, crisp and to-the-point.
• Highlight the word “NOTICE” and your Title. It can be either bold or
underlined.
• The purpose for which it is being written should be stated clearly.
• Focus on presentation and clarity.
• Use passive voice as far as possible
• The title should be captivating and eye-catching.
• Make sure you add more information, not just the information in the question.
• Your notice should include answers to all the 5 W’s – What, Why, When,
Where and Who.
FORMAT:
The Notice writing format should include:
• NAME OF THE INSTITUTION / ISSUING AUTHORITY
• NOTICE
• DATE OF ISSUE
• TITLE
• INFORMATION WITH DATE OF THE EVENT/TIME/VENUE
• ADDITIONAL INFORMATION(JUDGE/PRIZE etc)
• WRITER’S SIGNATURE
• NAME
• DESIGNATION.
• 1.Name of Issuing Organization/Authority: Right at the very top, you write
the name of the person or company that is issuing the notice. This will help
the reader identify the notice as important or unimportant to him.
• 2. When writing a notice we write the word “NOTICE” at the top. This helps
draw attention to the document. Notices are generally posted at a public place
or published in newspapers. It is important that they do not get lost in a sea of
information. So a bold title clearly mentioned helps draw attention.
• 3.Date: After the word ‘NOTICE’ to the left-hand side we write the date on
which the notice has been published. Since this is a formal document , date is
an important aspect of it since these documents stay on record.It should be
written as-28 April 20XX
• 4.Heading: Then we move on to an appropriate heading to the notice. This
heading should make abundantly clear the purpose of the notice.
• 5. Body: After the heading, we write the brief and to the point body of the
notice. The main content of the notice features in the body.
• 6. Writer’s Name: At the end of the notice we write the name and designation
of the notice-writer. The notice has to also be signed by the same person to
lend it authority and validity.
