Ian Saunders is the founder and CEO of Ontolect. A twenty-five year career with data- driven
technology businesses enables Ian to draw on experience to develop strategies for Ontolect clients.
Ian was co-founder and CEO of Crystal Semantics, a leading semantic data company serving the
online advertising sector. Growing the business from startup to become the global market leader,
Ian led the business through rapid growth to a initial acquisition by German media company, Ad
Pepper Media, followed by a subsequent acquisition by WPP, the world‘s largest marketing services
company. Post-acquisition, Ian became a senior Vice President at WPP‘s digital trading business
Xaxis, where he was in charge of the company‘s global data strategy.
SInce founding Ontolect, Ian leads the consultancy team and has a hands-on role in many projects.

Ian was co-founder and CEO of Crystal Semantics, a leading semantic data company serving the online advertising sector. Growing the business from startup to become the global market leader, Ian led the business through rapid growth to a initial acquisition by German media company, Ad Pepper Media, followed by a subsequent acquisition by WPP, the world‘s largest marketing services company. Post-acquisition, Ian became a senior Vice President at WPP‘s digital trading business Xaxis, where he was in charge of the company‘s global data strategy. SInce founding Ontolect, Ian leads the consultancy team and has a hands-on role in many projects.
