This paper presents a DSS for water management, and decision makers during water pollution accidents, by means of analysis tools for estimating strategies to avoid water pollution effects resulting from waste industry, oil pollution and other causes. The DSS is based on Internet and Web technologies. The WATERDSS online data (web) services provide a computed water quality index or water pollution test per water application unit employing statistical models. WATERDSS tests the data of water management stations in real-time. The results of the test are presented in GIS maps (ArcGIS) with time series graphs, email reports and web sites. The system automatically sends warnings when water pollution levels are exceeded, using text messages as email reports. The WATERDSS is tested on a case study in the Tigris River in Baghdad city in Iraq. In this research work we develop the application to contain (Data base, Alerts messages, Treatment water advices, optimization algorithms of machine learning, decision tree based on the Evolutionary Computing principles and Water pollution causes). Also, we put the data on the map by using ArcGIS (Arc Map) to determine the location of the water stations.

ABSTRACT In the vision of a future pervaded by Ambient Intelligence (AmI), innovative solutions are required in order to facilitate the development of applications able to fulfill the real needs of the users. In using agents for building AmI applications, there is a lack of platforms and languages that strike a good balance between flexibility and power of expression, on the one hand, and ease of use and quick deployment, on the other hand. We introduce the tATAmI platform, which together with the S-CLAIM AOP language presents a suitable solution for these issues. This paper presents the architecture of tATAmI together with a brief description of two scenarios that were implemented using the platform and some other important technical aspects concerning it.

ABSTRACT Representation and reasoning about context information is a main research area in Ambient Intelligence (AmI). Context modeling in such applications is facing openness and heterogeneity. To tackle such problems, we argue that usage of semantic web technologies is a promising direction. We introduce CONSERT, an approach for context meta-modeling offering a consistent and uniform means for working with domain knowledge, as well as constraints and meta-properties thereof. We provide a formalization of the model and detail its innovative implementation using techniques from the semantic web community such as ontology modeling and SPARQL. A stepwise example of modeling a commonly encountered AmI scenario showcases the expressiveness of our approach. Finally, the architecture of the representation and reasoning engine for CONSERT is presented and evaluated in terms of performance.

Summary High amounts of bee venom, arrived accidentally or experimentally in the human or animal body are responsible for dramatic changes at the level of all vital organs. In this paper we reported structural- functional, but mainly ultrastructural changes produced at the level of hypothalamus after a single, very high dose of whole bee venom solution injected in rats. Light microscopy data demonstrates a very intense neurosecretory activity in most of the magnocellular and parvocellular hypothalamic neurons. Ultrastructural data confirms the higher metabolic activity of the neurons: round nuclei, with 1-2 big nucleoli, and a very high amount of euchromatin and a few heterochromatin, a high amount of rough endoplasmic reticulum, and in some cases big secretory vesicles. But in the same time, many neurons are damaged by the venom molecules: nuclei have an irregular aspect, and extensive vacuolization of the cytoplasm is present, the capillary endothelium and the membranes of pericyt...

ABSTRACT In this paper we present a robot platform and a robot agent architecture for a real-time heterogeneous mobile robotic swarm. The robot platform is a modularized distributed architecture structured along three conceptual layers: sensor, actuation and the main unit. Each module is mechanically and electronically independent. The agent architecture has a distributed design with seven modules that is aimed at satisfying the constrains of many dynamic real world environments. The agent processes are organized in three categories: hard real-time behaviors, soft real-time behaviors and non-time-critical reasoning. The distributed architecture of the platform and the agent enable the robotic swarm to make efficient use of its resources and provide a flexible base for investigating many of the still open research questions for multi-robot systems.

ABSTRACT As computation increasingly pervades our environment and every aspect of our activity, there is the need of finding new paradigms of computation that support flexible interactions among humans, autonomous software components and objects enhanced with information, in a common shared environment. In this paper, we make a review of three important paradigms that promote autonomy, flexibility and dynamics of the supported applications, namely self-organizing systems, multi-agent systems, and context aware systems. We argue that the combination of these paradigms leads to the development of adaptable systems and applications that can face the current demands of users and requirements of modern digital environments and devices. We also show that self organizing context aware agent systems are fitted to develop ambient intelligence applications.

In human society, trust plays an important role -- it is the main factor behind most decisions. Within an organization, both real and virtual, a series of decisions on personnel management flow are made. The paper proposes a trust model of agents in a virtual organization, which can be used to decide whether it is better to start, continue, or stop working with the evaluated agent. The trust factor of an agent is summarized as a unique value based on a function which properly aggregates the agent's characteristics and the available information on agent's performance. The proposed model has the advantage of assuring simple calculations and providing an overview of the evaluated agent's performance.

The paper presents a multi-agent system that tries to solve the problem of rational exploitation of natural renewable resources by self-interested agents. The particular problem instance is that of several fishing companies trying to catch fish in several fishing banks. The system comprises a set of cognitive agents that represent the companies, are able to build plans and will interact with other companies to ensure the ecological balance of the resources and the achievement of their own plans. The environment is represented by a particular agent with which the companies interact. The agents are using both a symbolic representation and a genetic representation to build plans, to model the evolution of the unpredictable world in which they live and to conduct negotiation. The genetic approach is based on cooperative coadapted species and is used to model the multi-agent world from the point of view of a particular agent
