Many observers propose the exclusion of all religious related aspects from organizational life, others promote a more tolerant approach of certain practices, symbols and ceremonies, and few commentators highlight the values, diverse religious beliefs and experiences that employees could bring to the organization. Arguments, conclusions and recommendations are often contradictory and inconclusive due to the complexity and dividing nature of religion diversity. In Managing Religious Diversity in the Workplace the editors present a selection of essays, conceptual papers, empirical studies and case studies about how religious diversity and spirituality are managed. The book explores how firms address organizational and managerial challenges deriving from the religion diverse backgrounds of their employees. The different contributions discuss policies and practices, how implicit and unmarked religious norms influence the ‘managing’ of religious issues in organizations, and what the benefits of a religion diverse workforce are. It also includes contributions which address aspects of spirituality in the workplace, and the role of legal frameworks and their influence on organizations and their policies and practices regarding religion diversity. The perspectives and contributions include a wide range of disciplines by authors from leading academic institutions around the world.https://nsuworks.nova.edu/hcbe_facbooks/1085/thumbnail.jp

This research focused on selected renters of apartments in the Lat Krabang district of Bangkok as it has become a strategic business area in the city. This study investigates the factors influencing the decision of apartment renters while also inquiring into operational management of apartments. The study collected 399 responses from tenants and business owners to determine whether demographical characteristics affected their decisions to rent apartments. Through hypothesis testing, it was found that the factors of age, income level, occupation, place of birth, educational level, and nationality have a significant influence a person’s decision to rent an apartment. The most popular method for entrepreneurs to advertise was on billboards in front of buildings. The rental occupancy rate is approximately 90% and most entrepreneurs did not require any specific qualifications from renters. The business owners personally collect rent and manage the day-to-day operations of their apartments. The specific results and implications for entrepreneurs, builders, and managers are discussed

This study examines the relationship between personality traits and burnout through self-efficacy among public school teachers, while assessing the moderating role of school climate between self-efficacy and burnout. The 375 responses were collected from teachers belonging to three districts for this quantitative-based study, and the deductive approach is used to address the proposed hypotheses. The findings revealed a significant impact for personality traits on burnout through self-efficacy. This research study is useful for educators, researchers, and practitioners by providing directions to diagnose and prevent factors that influence burnout, and to diminish these feelings when they do occur among them.

PurposeAfghanistan is an ethnically diverse country which has suffered from many negative consequences caused by mismanagement of diversity, low levels of education, and political acrimony among different groups. The paper seeks to discuss how cultural and ethnic diversity can lead to civil unrest and make management of a country more complex. When diversity is not managed well, its consequences can be high levels of conflict, animosity, discrimination, corruption, and distrust among different ethnic groups.Design/methodologyThis is a conceptual paper. It covers the realities of ethnic, religious and language diversity in Afghanistan based on first hand observations and experience along with findings from the literature.FindingsThe paper suggests that diversity education along with an ethical climate is especially crucial for Afghanistan if the aim is to create an inclusive culture where everyone's voice is heard, understood and integrated for implementation. A diversity continuum model for inclusivity is created for managers, expatriates, diversity officers, government officials, and educators so they can use it for their training and development programs in their efforts to create a fair work climate in Afghanistan.Research limitationsThis paper is limited to personal observations and experiences along with a review of literature from experts who write about diversity and corruption.Practical implicationsManagers, employers, and employees can use this material for training to create diversity awareness, provide diversity management skills, and to reduce unfair, discriminatory, and corrupt practices.Social implicationsEmployees of all ethnicities should know their rights and work toward the creation of an inclusive culture in Afghanistan.OriginalityThis is an original paper and the inclusivity model is created by the author for this study.
