Storyboarding is a common technique in HCI and design for demonstrating system interfaces and contexts of use. Despite its recognized benefits, novice designers still encounter challenges in the creation of storyboards. Furthermore, as computing becomes increasingly integrated into the environment, blurring the distinction between the system and its surrounding context, it is imperative to depict context explicitly in storyboards. In this paper, we present two formative studies designed to uncover the important elements of storyboards. These elements include the use of text, inclusion of people, level of detail, number of panels, and representation of the passage of time. We further present an empirical study to assess the effects of these elements on the understanding and enjoyment of storyboard consumers. Finally, we demonstrate how these guidelines were successfully used in an undergraduate HCI class.

This paper argues that pension funds can earn attractive risk-adjusted rates of return on targeted real estate investment in underserved capital markets. Targeted investing is designed to achieve both a financial and social return. Fiduciary duty requires public sector pension funds to put financial obligations at the forefront of their decision-making. However these funds also have a vested interest in ensuring vibrant, healthy communities that in turn underpin employer contributions to the fund. We examine the California Urban Real Estate (CURE) program of the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS) as a model of targeted real estate investment in urban and underserved capital markets. From this case study we draw some implications for best practice in targeted investment.

ABSTRAK: Sudah hal lumrah, pustakawan sekolah memberikan literasi informasi kepada siswa di perpustakaan. Agar mempermudah pustakawan mempraktikkan literasi informasi, perlu tercipta zona nyaman bagi siswa melalui kehadiran desain interior yang ramah anak. Perpustakaan Ramah Anak hadir di Indonesia sejak 2014 oleh organisasi non-pemerintahan internasional bernama Room to Read. Guna mewujudkan desain interior yang nyaman, kiranya layak berpedoman kepada desain interior Perpustakaan Ramah Anak Room to Read. Kajian yang menggunakan metode best practice ini bertujuan memaparkan praktik menciptakan desain interior perpustakaan ramah anak. Dua tahap praktik mengubah desain interior diharapkan menjadi hasil kajian yang dapat diadopsi untuk membangun perpustakaan ramah anak di sekolah dasar lain. Metode yang telah berhasil diterapkan di SD N Potrobangsan 1 Kota Magelang ini memiliki dua tahap. Tahap pertama adalah memastikan sekolah harus memiliki ruang khusus yang dikenal sebagai perpustakaan. Tahap kedua adalah mendesain ulang interior ruang menjadi lebih nyaman dan aman dengan simulasi penataan perabot menggunakan potongan kertas berwarna.

The Cooperative Prostate Cancer Tissue Resource (CPCTR) is a consortium of four geographically dispersed institutions that are funded by the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) to provide clinically annotated prostate cancer tissue samples to researchers. To facilitate this effort, it was critical to arrive at agreed upon common data elements (CDEs) that could be used to collect demographic, pathologic, treatment and clinical outcome data. The CPCTR investigators convened a CDE curation subcommittee to develop and implement CDEs for the annotation of collected prostate tissues. The draft CDEs were refined and progressively annotated to make them ISO 11179 compliant. The CDEs were implemented in the CPCTR database and tested using software query tools developed by the investigators. By collaborative consensus the CPCTR CDE subcommittee developed 145 data elements to annotate the tissue samples collected. This paper will propose a data mining framework for the identification of agricultural production areas ill WA. The data mining (DM) framework was developed with the aim of enhancing the analysis of agricultural datasets compared to currently used statistical methods. The DM framework is a synthesis of different technologies brought together for the purpose of enhancing the interrogation of these datasets. The DM framework is based on the data, information, knowledge and wisdom continuum as a horizontal axis, with DM and online analytical processing (OLAP) forming the vertical axis. In addition the DM framework incorporates aspects of data warehousing phases, exploratory data mining (EDM) and a post-processing phase for cyclic updating of data and for data qualification.
