    The variable porosity and thermal dispersion effects on natural convection in an inclined porous cavity are investigated numerically. The wall effect on porosity is approximated by an exponential function and its effect on thermal dispersion is modeled in terms of a dispersive length. Numerical results show that both variable porosity and thermal dispersion effects increase the temperature gradient adjacent to the wall resulting in the enhancement of surface heat flux. These effects become important when the dimensionless particle diameter is increased. The variable porosity effect increases the fluid velocity near the wall, consequently enhancing convective heat transfer. The Prandtl number effect on the Nusselt number is small for Prandtl number greater than one, but increases as the Prandtl number decreases below one. The effect of thermal conductivity ratio on the Nusselt number is greater at low Rayleigh numbers where conduction heat transfer is predominant. A comparison between theoretical and experimental results shows that the calculated Nusselt numbers which take into account variable porosity and thermal dispersion effects have the best agreement with experimental data.

    This paper presents the mobile content zooming approach by utilizing the user's subconscious behavior of moving smartphone closer towards eyes based on the combination of smartphone and smartwatch. The spontaneous reaction movement of looking closer is captured by the orientation sensors of smartwatch and translated to the zooming parameter for adjusting display ratio. The conducted user experiments and evaluations indicate that the method is able to achieve the improved experience of zooming the content of mobile devices with natural spatial user interaction.

    As far as product design education is concerned, traditional classroom teaching mostly uses desktop research, simple field investigation and non-rigorous interviews as the main means, which often fails to accurately and systematically grasp users' real needs and preferences. The purpose of this study is to explore the new path of product design education, stimulate students' creativity, and ensure that the conceptual scheme designed by students accurately captures user preferences. Firstly, students are required to collect the sample data of the design object through market research and patent query, and use Evaluation Grid Method (EGM) of Miryoku Engineering to extract the attractive factors of the design object. Then, the charm evaluation of users and potential users is obtained by questionnaire survey, and the Quantification Theory Type I (QTT□) is used to analyze the questionnaire data. Finally, the correlation between the specific characteristics of the design object and the demand intention is constructed, which can be used as a reference for students to carry out design innovation. This study is helpful for students to carry out product design practice and improve the scientific and strictness of current product design education.

Therefore, design for behaviour change should be viewed as a strategy for enabling lifestyle changes as soon as possible. Although how to use equipment to assist physically disabled people in hydrotherapy rehabilitation is the primary design goal, the psychological feelings of users are also one of the focuses of this study.     Display Omitted Propose evaluation equations of aesthetic measures in aesthetics.Apply genetic algorithms on the optimization of product forms.Reduce the difference in the aesthetic cognitions between designers and consumer.Apply this on the measurement of product aesthetics to shorten design procedures. In the past, designers developed new products by virtue of their own accumulation of aesthetic perception and experience. Because the information that designers could master was limited, it was difficult to develop quickly the capability of satisfying consumer-oriented markets. This limitation may consequently cause the enterprises unnecessary risks. Based on this, a set of aesthetic evaluations and an optimization system for form aesthetics are proposed in this study. Calculations of explicit equations were performed so as to assisting in measuring the aesthetic characteristics; next, a fuzzy judgment was invoked to calculate the perceptual aesthetic measures of a product style so as to establish the overall aesthetic standard for the product. Aesthetic measurement principles were combined with the genetic algorithm (GA) and applied to the optimization of the product's shape. All-in-one stereos were chosen to serve as the target products as a case study. Further form optimization was conducted on two of the stereos and the questionnaire survey indicated that their aesthetic measures increased after the optimization. The errors that resulted from the equations for aesthetic measurements and judgments were also reduced accordingly. The precision and feasibility of the aesthetic theory that was constructed in this study were assessed, tested, and verified.

    ABSTRACT ABSTRACT  A computer-aided design method for creating the 3D model of an underwater hull has been developed based on the use of B-spline curves. With the constructed program, the configuration of an underwater hull can easily be generated by the designer. The form of an underwater hull can be modified by one of the following methods: (1) changing the shape of the cross section of the hull, (2) inserting a new section between two different sections, and (3) changing the distance between two adjacent sections. In addition, the nose shape of the hull can also be modified by setting a point, a cross-section, the tangent vector, or the radius of curvature at the nose. After the form of a hull is constructed, a 2D grid mesh for the environment around the hull, which is going to affect the underwater hull when it is moving in the water, can be generated with another program built in this study based on the body-fitted curvilinear coordinate system. The grid mesh can be used to analyze the drag coefficient of the hull, which is the next step in the development of this design environment. Some hull configurations and the grid meshes of the environment around the hulls are constructed. They are well under control and the feasibility of applying these techniques to shape design for an underwater hull is demonstrated.

    Interior design has been on the threshold of custom-made services. Based on past experiences, customers often describe the desired images and styles of interior design for their own homes. This research is targeted at two tasks. One is to describe the image and style of interior design in terms of Kansei (emotional) adjectives. The other is to employ fuzzy theory to evaluate the chosen terms connected with the interior design of Westem living rooms. Then, in compliance with the preferred terms and their percentage data, customers' requirements are closely linked to the design data. In this way, the simulated 3D image in this paper objectively reflecting the client's requirements on interior design.

    The purpose of this study is to evaluate the gas tr ansport and the performance of the flow channel design in t he Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFCs). The numerical simulation is restricted to 2-D incompressible flow , laminar. The types of the flow channels in the bipolar plate s embrace the blocked, wavelet, triangular flow channels etc. The results show the more gas flow into the gas diffusion layer and the performance increases compared to the straight flow channel. These structures increase the gas flow velocity in the longitudinally, and improve the performance in the catalyst layer. That is due to the forced convection mechani sm caused by the irregular flow channels. Therefore, the irre gular flow channel can enhance the gas transport into the cata lyst layer, and improve the performance of the PEMFC.

    A high-performance operating interface design method was proposed in this study. A relationship matrix for the components on the operating interface was first constructed in the proposed method, and then, a relationship network for the operating components was constructed based on the matrix which was built by using the fuzzy graph theory. The performance of the target interface was then evaluated based on the evaluation model proposed in this study. The operation panel of a real car stereo was used in the case study so as to verify the feasibility of the proposed methodology. The results indicated that the operating performance of a product interface can be correctly evaluated by the proposed method, and new high-performance operating interfaces can be developed accordingly.

    The need of the cosmetic market has increased annually, and automation technology has also been extensively studied. Thus, cosmetic producers raised the requirement for automation equipment. This study was based on the related study and analysis on the existed products to develop the innovation producing sequential process in assembly. In this study, the electrical control system and the platform structure design were applied to the traditional station production process to reach the goal of automated production. By adjusting the numbers of automated gluing head and various types of jigs in the design of carriers, it can be replaced according to the need of the design to reach advantage in diversified flexible production. Meanwhile, man-machine interface and safety interlock system with linkage arrangement enabled operating convenience and enhanced operating safety.

However, although the data resolution of 3D scanning device is increasing and there are more and more abundant complementary applications, the penetration rate of 3D scanning for the public is still limited by the relative high price of the devices.
