“Apart from the technical aspects of speech production, cultural influences also contribute to the divergence between British and American breathing patterns while speaking. British culture traditionally values politeness, understatement, and subtlety in communication.

Accordingly, the inhalation technique aligns with these cultural norms by allowing speakers to deliver their message in a composed and restrained manner.

Conversely, American culture often celebrates dynamic and energetic communication…The tendency to exhale while speaking in an assertive and confident manner aligns with the American cultural ideal of directness and self-assurance. Therefore, the emphasis on exhalation may be a reflection of American cultural values and norms.”

AI
history usage and phonemic differences
From Chat GPT "Mid-Atlantic English is a term that refers to a specific accent used by some American speakers. It is a blend of features from both American and British English and is often associated with the accent used by actors in classic Hollywood films.

The phonemic differences between American English and Mid-Atlantic English are subtle but noticeable. The most notable differences include:

1. Pronunciation of /r/: In Mid-Atlantic English, the /r/ sound is pronounced more prominently than in most American accents, giving it a slight British flavor.

2. Vowel sounds: There are some vowel sounds that are pronounced differently in Mid-Atlantic English compared to American English, such as the "o" sound in words like "hot" and "bot," which is pronounced with a slightly rounded "o" sound in Mid-Atlantic English.

3. Intonation: In Mid-Atlantic English, there is often more emphasis on the final syllables of words, giving sentences a slightly sing-song quality.

Overall, Mid-Atlantic English is a unique and distinct accent that blends elements of both American and British English

Root word is [car]. + plural Carson is NOT pronounced as [cars] [on] Instead, there is a syllabic stress which blends the [car][son] Why? Sometimes we will assume that there is a root word within a word, (in this case cars),and make the error that the "root word" can be pronounced standalone (CARSon). *Illicit *carson ≠ cars+on Pronication Instead, we need to treat the word in question as its own.

Western cultures have different values  and means of expressing specific ideologies than Eastern cultures. Specific language  that leaders from past to present vary from culture to culture are primarily based on a few factors : Direct / Indirect communication , emotional appeal vs emotional suppression, different types of authority references in speech,  varied cultural values - independence vs filial piety, individual / collective hope, patriotism  vs nationalistic pride based on tradition heritage vs national identity  . Understanding these language ques and tactics can better serve specific types of culture  when attempting to persuade or impose an idea to the audience for personal,  or business dealings.

Culture is a great part of why certain people interact and express themselves in the way they do. Since language is a part of culture- it is also a strong indicator of why people from a culture express themselves differently than another group . I find it would be beneficial for people who live in an area with different demographics, including varied ethnic backgrounds to explore the different dynamics between the sytantical form of various languages and the relationship with the culture since the way people use language  can determine more of their culture. This would provide more insight of why individuals display more of one characteristic than another (punctuality  vs being late, obedience , submissiveness, direct vs sneaky , tactful vs tactless). Syntax shapes the way people in different cultures perceive and interact with each other - illustrating specific ideas of time, progress, clarity, structure, respect, storytelling, spatial relationships which reflects specific cultural and personality traits.

On Life- Tolstoy:

Man has compared life and its definition towards 4 ideals:

1. Animal Creature Comforts - Eating Fighting Hunting and Mating

2. A Personality or Ego - A preference for likings and dislikes

3. Plant life - The system of organic growth from birth to decay

4. Material - Space and time

The conflicts which arise from these theories is as follows:

1. Animal creature comforts satisfy only self and nothing outside of “creature comforts” - Ann Landers.

2. Personality itself does not explain human living organisms as a whole, in the material body and life. This is also known as biase, for personal likings and dislikings.

3. Plant life ideals explains organisms from birth of a seed to the death of the plant, yet cannot compare to the whole intricacies of man. Plant life describes life to decay, a to b. Comparing life to plants is a comparison between point A to B, whereas life is infinite without points, as it is outside of these bounds.

4. Material can be explained through place, time of the past and future, the area in which man resides, and lives. yet the material cannot explain mankind and life itself because this is like explaining the definition of height by its dimensions of length and width. this explains everything but the man and life.

The ideas of  what man is can be described in these four points of:

1.Aspiration towards good or bad

2. Reasonings behind the action

3. Animal personalities

4. Relations to the animal personaliy to self - as if the studies are to reflect what humankind is.

An Organization’s Culture and Virtue
As a collective, individuals can promote a virtuous culture of excellence through a combination of varied approaches, including ideas such as growth plans and codes of conduct. Several esteemed speakers such as Mellody Hobson, Dr. James Otteson, and Jordan Petterson, note several key aspects of what a virtuous organizational culture may include- self-regulation, intentional inclusivity, awareness, and integrity (YouTube, n.d.). From experience, I have witnessed leaders often demonstrate virtue in their leadership journey by example and through practice. Oftentimes, leaders and members of an organization will fall short of expectations, however, “being comfortable with the uncomfortable,” is a model that leaders should recognize, as this highlights the struggle of building virtue (TED, 2014). This paper will discuss virtue ethics concerning company values, leadership, and a self-cultivation reflection strategy growth plan to cultivate a stronger organizational culture.

Now I stand here captivated by the mystery

When reading Gilgamesh, it surprisingly reminded me of the 2001 movie, Zoolander. When Ben Stiller is aiming for the male model of the year, his rival, Owen Wilson comes and tries to steal his image. They both eventually become best friends and tunnels the jealous feelings towards one mission- to save Hollywood stars, just like Gilgamesh and Enkidu putting aside their differences to accomplish their mission of cutting down all the cedar trees, and kill the demon Humbaba. This film, as well as Gilgamesh embellishes the importance of brother-hood, teamwork, unity, jealousy, desires, and everything in between.

Alison and Aiden (a modern rendition of JD Salinger's "Franny and Zooey")  with prologue

By Kate Ye 2024

Prologue
During a period in my life when I wanted, and needed change, I was instead left with a type of damage quite difficult to heal. I knew that only through words would I be able to express anything close to how it pains my spirit to this day.
This is a journey of a boy and a girl who weaves through each other's lives during their formative years of adolescence. Alison serves as an allegory of how words that turn into wounds can and will eventually drain our spirit if we are not careful. (Proverbs 18:21) As with our journey with Aiden, the boy serves as an innocent reminder of hope and the desire for faith unseen. (Hebrews 11:1)

Words will bring wisdom instead of wounds when used with love and care.

the studies of Skinner and Chomsky have been great influencers in linguistics studies . Even to modern day, both men's schools of thought are utilized. As finnegan would point out " language sciences, linguists, conceptual linguists, computer scientist,  cognitive neurosciences "give rise to the universals that underline the more apparent diversity of nearly 7000 human language around the world" Chomsky further emphasizes the "richness and diversity of linguistic phenomena is illusory and eothinical" from the use of conceptualizing concepts of memorizing words and concepts the contricubstsn that then men brought to language and studies related have been monumental and continue to grow.

To expand on Bayyurt's insight of sociolinguistics, this paper will further examine and provide the correlating concepts and applications of the three themes of sociolinguistics including attitude, inclusion, and contribution. Although some of the major sociolinguistics topics are covered in Bayyurt's work, the application and examples of the chosen topics have not been fully expanded in the journal article. For additional support illustrating these key concepts, this paper will examine Bayyurt's journal article by detailing the classroom applications and examples of these highlighted topics.

Slang usage can be studied within several different types of boundaries- sociolinguistics, covert groups, speech communities, diachronic studies, word derivation, connotation analysis, conversational analysis, and the study of the superstrate between speech communities. Not only this, frequency patterns of slang can be predicted and charted in regards to socioeconomic class, gender, and region. However, it should be noted that these berries themselves do not determine the slang usage, or lack thereof, within these speech communities. The morphology of slang, such as the coda, syllables and rhythm, can also determine the frequency. For example, with a potential cross study between child acquisition and slang usage, one can propose that since children are reported to prefer voicing two syllable words "ma-ma" at the critical stage, it can also be hypothesised in a future study, through research at the library, that usage of certain slang has more frequency because of a certain rhythm, sylbile, or coda pattern.

This paper will discuss the importance of learning about the varied cultures of students in the classroom.

In the US classrooms, it is understood that a teacher will work with various cultures throughout his or her career. From finishing assignments, aiding students to participate in group work, and providing a safe classroom - it is part of a teacher’s obligation to understand who the student is, and how to best aid him / her to successfully complete the course.

One imperative aspect a teacher must consider when working in a classroom is the cultural difference a student may experience when interacting with their peers and authority. These obstacles include how a student responds to authority, the preference between group vs individual work, individualized study methods and interaction with peers. Although there are many learning disabilities that can be used to label “troubled” or “misbehaved” students, we must consider cultural factors which more than likely have an impact on a student’s performance.

The importance of emotional intelligence is underrated in regards to the value it holds in society, as it is far more important for career and leadership success than intelligence or IQ. As HBR states- “emotional leadership is the spark that ignites a company's performance, creating a bonfire of success or a landscape of ashes. Moods matter that much” (Goleman, et. al, 2015, p. 42). Emotional intelligence, fortunately, can be taught. Emotional intelligence components such as self-awareness, empathy, self-regulation, motivation, and social skills can be enhanced and mastered with practice. In this paper I will write about a situation where I had a low level of EQ (emotional intelligence), but later dealt with the same problem with a higher level of EQ, eventually resulting in a positive outcome.

To encourage indviduals in search of information or networking, it is pertainant not to rely on one type of search engine, web site, or internet database. It is important to document these points of interest in printed document, as a article, book as well, in order for our history not to be erased and manipulated so easily by the tech age relaince. W3C regluations is encouraged to oversee these documents online, as the knowledge we provide the public is important not only to shape accurate truths, but also to have a fair, balanced check system in place.

Knowldge is power- to provide this choice of equal power to the public brings a greater understanding of truth and unity instead of division and chaos.

Effective instruction in a language learning environment entails a few components, including application of theories. Second language acquisition (SLA) is an evolving field, or filled with brilliant theorists, researchers, and instructors who have hypothesized multiple theories in regards to teaching and language learning. This paper discusses three concepts of SLA which have built strong foundations for many future educators, including myself. The conceptual theories, which include universal grammar (UG), Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD), and Operant Conditioning, are the pillars to my philosophy of teaching, highlighting behaviorism. These three theories are analyzed with examples and applications in the classroom throughout this paper along with a discussion of how these ideas coalesce.

Effective instruction in a language learning environment entails a few components, including the application of second language acquisition theories. Second language acquisition (SLA) is an evolving field, filled with brilliant theorists, researchers, and instructors who have hypothesized multiple theories regarding teaching and language learning. This paper discusses three concepts of SLA which have provided strong foundations for future educators. The conceptual theories, which include Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD), Operant Conditioning, and Universal Grammar (UG), are the three main pillars of my philosophy of teaching, with a uniform yet balanced mix of constructivism, nativism, and behaviorism. These theories are analyzed with examples and applications in the classroom throughout this paper along with a discussion of how these ideas coalesce.

Personal Journey of SLA : Learning Mandarin Chinese as a L2 learner during my formative years has been a remarkable journey of understanding both myself, and the world of second language acquisition. From reflecting upon the types of methods my language instructors had used in their lesson plans, I now have a better comprehension of my current abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. While some classroom practices fit my preferred learning style, such as the audio lingual method, unfortunately, other approaches of instruction, such as prescriptivism, left me with little understanding. An early exposure to my L2 has not only added to my life experience, but has also created a smoother learning process.

Frauding checks is illegal and there should be a punishment according to this crime.
Although, in other cases like Freddy Grey, Rodney King, and other unlawful arrests in which police officers abuse power, and the individuals who have been found innocent, and then killed, left brutally injured, torchered, harassed, or otherwise by the powers the police officers exercised, I would like to pose a solution.
In order to prevent these tragic, unjust and debatable situations regarding police enforcement to happen in the future, I would not mind to see more awareness of citizens rights to be brought to attention in public service announcements, such as advertisements, through the public work and school place.
