During the Second World War, artists and writers expoused the erotic intimacy in their work, assuming life in the middle of chaos and death. The poetry in prose of Hugo Margenat Mediavilla assumes politics and eroticism. His transitional poetry shows some voices which represent different characters in the public and private spheres. These voices communicate technical novelty by changing the discourse, but more important to analize is the hidden violence through the distorted language.

This essay analyzes traditional narrative intersected by cinematographic semiotics. The semiotic influence on film is identified in Carlos Fuentes’ narrative since the beginning. His second novel, Good Conscience (1961), returns to lineal historicization, but it departs from modern technics of artistic cinematographic language. In this form, Fuentes inserts himself in renewed ways of writing novels in Latin American, a vein less explored in this novel.

Eugenio María de Hostos, the novelist is the less valued by literary critics. The first Hostos wrotes two novels, La Peregrinación de Bayoán (1863) and La Tela de Araña [1864] for colonial Spain, and its political and cultural regents. Then is of cardinal importance, the audience for whom he wrotes both novels and the ironic language used against them, unknown by he’s scholars. The comparative study demonstrates that the novels shared the same intertextual base.

The study of the narrative of Eugenio María de Hostos circumscribes to La Peregrinación de Bayoán (1863, 1873), only a few studies attend La Tela de Araña, wroted with the pretext to compete in the narrative contest of The Royal Spanish Academy in 1864. This essay studies both novels together and its unavoidable similarities. For that reason, the audience is of cardinal importance, from the political circles in the Court and Royal Palace until the scholars in The Royal Spanish Academy and Madrid Athenæum. Both narratives share intertextual base and generate new traditions. Manifest, with different gradations, an ironic language that turns, in occasions, into a sarcastic one and also makes difficult political and cultural national projects. This produces nearness-remoteness of literary movements from Spain and Latin America, and also between personages in the narratives of pilgrimage and carnival respectively. This struggle with omnimode modern civilization exposes a critique of colonialism and emergent capitalism, and with these, the violence toward other subjectivities, such as ethnic-racial and gender. The desire of Hostos to become the first puerto rican novelist also had to combat the imposed censorship by the political and cultural spanish regency. This essay studies the cultural and legal circles of power with the Latin American discourse. The narrative of the first Hostos is analyzed with an interdisciplinary epistemology and axiology critic of Modernity, which includes feminist theory, subaltern discourse and social-ethics.
