Der Aufsatz geht der Frage nach, ob der Chor, der Schiller zufolge auf die Verkörperung auf der Bühne angewiesen ist, im Theatertext Funktionen erfüllen kann, die über die Implikation der Aufführung hinausgehen. Exemplarisch wird in Stücken von Heiner Müller, Tankred Dorst und Elfriede Jelinek nach Momenten gesucht, in denen der Chor durch Sprechakte eine Ebene der Inszenierung in den Text integriert und so eine Unabhängigkeit von der Aufführung auf der Bühne erreicht.

RESUMO: Heiner Müller, o mais importante herdeiro espiritual de Brecht, foi figura dominante do teatro alemão durante as décadas anteriores à sua morte em 1995. Pouco se sabe, porém, que este comunista heterodoxo e provocador político da Alemanha Oriental foi influenciado por Beckett, e que tal influência o levou, no final de sua vida, a um surpreendente e frutífero impasse mental cuja expressão se vê em sua obra mais interessante e formalmente inovadora. A conexão Müller-Beckett tem sido subestimada por estudiosos de Brecht e Müller, mas é de crucial importância para compreender não apenas o teatro de Müller, como também o fenômeno de larga disseminação do teatro "pós-dramático" que Beckett inspirou proeminentemente - categoria internacional inovadora caracterizada por paisagens teatrais quase "conscientes", personagens dramáticos descentrados e metáforas incertas do palco.

Este trabajo es un primer avance sobre el estudio de la circulación y recepción de Heiner Müller en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, entre 1989 y 2001, desde la disciplina del Teatro Comparado. Un tema de estas características plantea desde el inicio una complejidad abrumadora, ya que se constituye en sí mismo como un problema de comparatismo por excelencia: el lugar del encuentro siempre se da, por lo menos, en relación a dos términos. Por lo tanto, los problemas en este estudio siempre van a ser dobles, de la misma forma que el tema mismo se desdoblará continuamente según se trate de la circulación o la recepción (por cuestiones de extensión, haremos hincapié solamente en la circulación y en la recepción reproductiva de las piezas de Müller, como así también nos focalizaremos principalmente en lo que llamamos el primer sub-período de la recepción del autor, es decir, entre 1989-1995). Consideramos que es necesario estudiar los fenómenos teatrales tanto territorial como supraterritorialmente, entendiendo la especificidad histórica del contexto en el que se produce este encuentro. Además, en textos que precisamente disparan palabras, bombardean crueles metáforas sin ninguna piedad, con la finalidad de dificultar la recepción, consideramos que su estudio es fundamental a la hora de entender la poética de Müller. Entenderla, sin desligarla de la concepción política que la sustenta y del rechazo a todo pensamiento sistemático que la hace posible. Pero también, conocer cómo sus textos circularon, cómo fueron reapropiados, valorados, rechazados, legitimados, olvidados (y de qué manera la crítica interpretó y los espectadores experimentaron el acontecimiento teatral de cada obra), tal vez permita entender muchas de las problemáticas que el teatro y nuestra sociedad continuamente generan e intentan dar respuesta.

Le XXe siècle a vu s'affirmer une mise en crise profonde des figures de l'humain, menant à un paradigme post-anthropocentrique dont nous sommes aujourd'hui les héritiers. Les écritures théâtrales de Müller, Pasolini, Genet ou Beckett fourmillent de mouvements de défiguration qui dynamisent les formes figées de l'identité normative et qui explorent les zones troubles de l'humain et du non-humain. Mais la défiguration, au théâtre, n'est pas seulement une question thématique : elle affecte également les pratiques de représentation et de production de savoirs.
Se situant résolument entre théâtre et philosophie, cet ouvrage se propose d'explorer les captures qui s'opèrent entre les écritures scéniques de la défiguration et la réinvention des moyens expressifs de la philosophie contemporaine. Avec des alliés tels que Deleuze, Souriau, Foucault ou Lacoue-Labarthe, il explore la déposition de la raison dramatique, la scène conçue comme territoire philosophique, la fabrique scénique de la subjectivité ou encore l'invention conceptuelle de drames post-anthropocentriques.

This is the dissertation I wrote to earn my dissertation in Comparative Literature from the University of Oregon in 2000. The text analyzes Adorno's "Negative Dialectics" and then applies its concept to three artists of the late 20th century: the Nova trilogy of William S. Burroughs, William Gibson's "Neuromancer" and three plays by Heiner Mueller.

The article "Heiner Müller 's "Medeamaterial" by Michael Marmarinos" is published in the Proceedings of the International Conference "Medea in World Artistic Culture".
The article deals with the performance staged by Michael Marmarinos at Mikheil Tumanishvili Film Actors Theatre in January 2001, which was performed only a few times in Georgia and was banned as incompatible with the aesthetics of Mikhail Tumanishvili, the prominent Georgian stage director and founder of this theatre.

The dilemmas that emerge from Sophocles' Philoctetes (409 BC) in contrasting pairs: aim and means, isolation and communication, alienation and integrity, are diachronic. The play is full of dramatic upsets, in such a way as the readers and the spectators to be in permanent uncertainty about the heroes' aims and their future acts. At the same time, two of the central heroes waver, they follow an “inner” course before to decide “what to do”, which drives to a situation that requires the divine intervention, so that the end comes. The ambiguity and the uncertainty that provoke the persons' behavior and the situations allow, exactly, multiple interpretations of the tragic text, according to each “context”. Really interesting is the comparative study of the way that the myth is transformed by Sophocles, with two contemporary views of the myth, that were written in the same year (1965): Philoctetes of Yannis Ritsos and Philoctetes of Heiner Müller. The greek and the german modern view of the myth, despite their differences, have a primarily political character, in contrast with the ancient play. In any case, it is obvious that the myth is interpreted and is adjusted to the current way of thinking and to the given circumstances.

La pieza teatral de Heiner Müller es un tríptico compuesto por tres cuadros, entendiendo este concepto como se vio en clase: "suma de situaciones completas en las que difícilmente hay entrada o salida de personajes", que se enlazan a partir de la figura mitológica de Medea, desde la presentación del título podríamos aventurarnos a afirmar que Medea no es sino a partir de lo que la envuelve, lo que la oprime, el vacío entre dos lugares a los que no pertenece, territorios de partida y de llegada, Medea está sujeta a cuerdas que tensan su ser, que la estiran, es el exilio a partir de la traición. En este libreto no vemos una estructura clásica que nos remita a conceptos rígidos, las anagnórisis se presentan en diferentes partes de los cuadros, sin embargo podemos intentar analizarlo mediante el esquema propuesto por Román Calvo: el efecto a producir es el sufrimiento físico y moral por la traición, de esta manera Müller llamaría la atención del público hacia el propio artificio del teatro, no hay que olvidar que Medea habla de los hijos como actores que mienten, también llama la atención sobre la enajenación mediática. Medea se enfrenta a problemas universales como es el exilio, la traición, la guerra, el despojo, la colonización, el envejecimiento y la muerte. Las fuerzas superiores son la guerra y los discursos mediáticos que engañan. Hay un tratamiento serio de las tramas, sin embargo, se deja entrever un sarcasmo oscuro a partir del tercer cuadro, cuando se habla de una realidad más cercana a nuestro siglo. Si bien Medea es hija de Eetes, en el texto de Müller ella no tiene el poder de sí misma, incluso podemos percibirla como una esclava bárbara que ha abandonado su tierra y que ahora vive en un exilio nostálgico, pues jamás podrá regresar a su lugar de origen. La protagonista sí es derrotada, es el sentimiento que permea en el segundo cuadro (medeamaterial), también asume su derrota, pero no con entereza, busca venganza a partir de verse vencida y con ello encuentra la fuerza para cortar los lazos que la unen a un pasado desastroso. El lenguaje oscila entre un léxico elevado debido a las figuras retóricas abundantes, así como a la intertextualidad, y entre un léxico bajo que acumula algunos insultos y detritus.

L'oeuvre dramatique de Heiner Müller est à l'image de l'Histoire dont  elle est issue : entre mosaïque, collage et montage, sa poétique est fragmentée, fragmentaire. Un matériau hétéroclite, un chaos organisé qui a fait exploser les limites de la forme dramatique et les conventions de l'écriture théâtrale.
Mais au-delà de l'auteur, il y a également  le metteur en scène.
Le metteur en scène Müller qui, avant tout, expérimente et "éprouve" ("probt") l'auteur Müller.
Qui prend, tout d'abord, son propre matériau poétique pour le confronter à la matérialité de l'instant.
Qui en suscite d'autres images, d'autres métaphores et d'autres questionnements.
Qui démonte la machin(e)/ation de l'Histoire par la machine(rie) théâtrale.
C'est cet aspect de l'homme de théâtre - dans l'urgence de sa création au moment même où l'espace-temps est "disloqué" ["out of joint"] -  qui nous intéressera dans cette étude : en novembre 1989, Müller répète Hamlet/Machine au "Deutsches Theater" de Berlin. Cette mise en scène fera l'objet d'une recherche pour trouver les clefs possibles d'un imaginaire  qui anime la Müller-Machine théâtrale "au croisement du temps et de l’espace".

Le dramaturge est-allemand Heiner Müller a entrepris entre 1949 et 1982 une réécriture du mythe des Argonautes et de Médée qui donnera naissance à trois textes fragmentaires : Rivage à l'abandon, Matériau-Médée et Paysage avec Argonautes. Véritable entreprise de démythification, ces textes s'emploient à penser l'Histoire par le prisme du mythe. A l'aube de l'avènement du postmodernisme – courant dans lequel Müller ne peut pourtant être classé – ils se caractérisent par une mise en crise du mythe en tant que récit fondateur d'une civilisation, qui est simultanément crise de la société occidentale mais aussi crise de l'écriture dramatique traditionnelle.

metinleri post-dramatik tiyatro bağlamında tekrar ele almıştır. Yazarın, bu
bahsedilen karakteristik özellikleri taşıyan en önemli metinlerinden biri de
Shakespeare’in Hamlet’ini çok farklı bir şekilde yeniden yazdığı, disiplinlerarası
ve medyalararası özellikler taşıyan Hamlet Makinesi’dir (Die Hamletmaschine,
1977). Bir yeniden yazım olan Hamlet Makinesi, Müller’in 1970’lerdeki yazım
şekli ile 20. yüzyılın sadece metinsel olarak değil performans anlamında da
değişen yüzünü ve önem verdiği teknikleri ortaya koyar. Ozan Gözel ve Tuluğ
Ülgen tarafından yönetilen “Ophelia’ya Ölüm Yakışır” sekansı ise Müller’in
yorumlarına odak alarak yeni bir metin ve farklı bir sahneleme ile yeni yorumlara

The author proposes post-imperial analysis as a new research agenda for the study of (post-)GDR literature and painting. The article models this kind of analysis with respect to works by the authors listed in the title, focusing on the representation/destruction of the Soviet tank as an object embodying imperial sovereignty. More specifically, the author explores a series of scopic scenarios that dramatize the confrontation with Soviet tanks, drawing on Carl Schmitt's 1950s concept of iconographic space for its political theory and tracing the genealogy of this iconographic object, its constitution as aesthetic object, in the work of Soviet artists. Reading the (textual and visual) demolition of the tank as post-imperial gesture, the article studies strategies that either destroy aesthetic conventions or explode the object through a process of de-scription.

La lectura estética de Máquina Hamlet es solidaria de la lectura política, en tanto anuda teatro posdramático y crítica marxista. Fue estrenada en 1979, dieciocho años después de la expulsión de Müller  de la Alemania Oriental, diez años antes de su readmisión en ella, y once años antes de la caída del muro de Berlín.
En cuanto a la Estética ya se encuentran argumentadas la de lo discontinuo e inconexo, por Viviana Veloza Martínez; o estética de belleza por error, según Juan Villoro; y la estética del distanciamiento, extrañamiento y posmodernidad en Andrés Grumann Sôlter.

XX. yüzyılın başından itibaren Batı tiyatrosu tarihsel avangartlarla birlikte
kendinden önceki tiyatronun dilini, üslûbunu ve biçimini dönüştürme çabasına girmiş, kimi
zaman da klasik tiyatro paradigmalarını sarsmak niyetinde olmuştur. Bu kırılmaların en
önemlisi seyreden ve eyleyen uzamlarının sorunsallaştırılmasıdır. Fütüristler, Sembolistler,
Gerçeküstücüler, Dadaistler metinsel ve sahneleme bağlamında seyirci pratiğini
değiştirmeye çalışmışlardır. Bu girişimler belirli bir kırılma yaratsa da modernizmin tarih
ve geçmişle kurmuş olduğu ilişki gelişmemiş, aydınlanamamış ve ilerlemeyi bekleyen bir
düşüncenin ürünü olmaya devam etmiştir. Bu çalışmada bir zamanlar Gerçeküstücüler

tiyatro fikri üzerinden değerlendirilecektir. (In the very first half of the 20th century Western Theatre aimed to transform
the language and style of the conventional theatre thanks to avant-garde artists while
deconstructing the paradigms of the conventional theatre. One of the most significant
rupture is to problematize the positions of the actors and spectators. Futurists, Symbolists,
Surrealists and Dadaists struggled to change the stand of spectator in terms of texts and
stagings. Despite the fact that these practices created a somehow rupture, the link between
past and present did not flourish and enlighten and kept on being a product of the thought
that waited to progress. The aim of this article is to consider how Antonin Artaud’s
“Theatre of Cruelty” effected the language of the theatre that came after him. Within this
scope the traces of Artaud’s thoughts is to be followed in Heiner Müller’s Hamletmachine.
Artaud’s book entitled “Theatre and its Double” has the notion that decontructs the ideas
of conventional theatre. Additionally there comes the questioning of the stand of text and
spectator in theatre. Artaud’s understanding of theatre blurred the distinction between the
actor and spectator, a convention that has been founded by the Tragedy firstly in Ancient
Greek and focused on the necessity of the freeing the instints that has been suppressed into
subconsious. Together with these ideas Artaud declared the “death of the texts” as in the
case of “death of the author”. Under the light of above mentioned issues Hamletmachine is
to be considered with the theoretical background of Artaud)

Im Kommentar „Drei Punkte. Zu 'Philoktet'“ (1968) hat Heiner Müller auf den Modellcharakter seiner ersten Antikenbearbeitung hingewiesen. Die Handlung seines „Philoktet“ sei Modell, „nicht Historie“, und werde von der (hierarchischen) „Klassenstruktur“ und der (privaten) „Eigentumsform“ der abgebildeten Gesellschaft bestimmt, die sich damit relativ eindeutig als „kapitalistische“ zu erkennen gibt. Inszenierungen, die in Odysseus einseitig den „Stalinisten“ erkennen, griffen deshalb zu kurz. Es fehle ihnen der Blick für „die tragische Dimension der Geschichte“, womit wohl der Blick für die Verstrickung des Stalinismus mit dem „Kapitalismus“ gemeint ist. Man fragt sich allerdings, worin das Tragische dieser Verstrickung eigentlich bestehen soll. Was macht den „Ablauf“ des Modells so „zwangsläufig“, wie es das Tragische verlangt? Und welche Möglichkeit sollte trotzdem bestehen, „das System [...] in Frage“ zu stellen? Es soll im Folgenden eine Lesart des Müller’schen Werks entwickelt werden, die das Tragische auf einen Mangel an „Einverständnis“ zurückführt und die Utopie des Untragischen als Überwindung dieses Mangels darstellt.

Pieter Verstraete is an independent theater scholar who, for the past 6 years, had been working and researching in Turkey. The political development of the last years has had many effects, e.g. on the daily lives, on the arts and culture, on journalism. Verstraete is not only one of those who had to leave the country but also an expert on contemporary Turkish theater. In this very personal and moving text, he shares his impressions of the last two years and gives a brief insight into a few of the artistic consequences.

Any methods employed in adapting or appropriating work as canonical as Shakespeare’s Hamlet must aim towards creating art with sufficient purpose itself to become ‘a little more than kin and less than kind.’ In thus decontextualising and appropriating Hamlet’s opening line, the nature of adaptation and its need to amount to more than imitation and less than homage will be examined in three such appropriations of the play, ranging from 1977 to 2013: Heiner Müller’s The Hamletmachine, Steven Berkoff’s The Secret Love Life of Ophelia and Park Chan-wook’s Stoker. These expose and utilise the play’s violent underbelly, playing on the Gothic tropes which Hamlet itself originally informed. More importantly, they relocate the female figures at the centre of the narrative and tap into the potential of Ophelia as a modern analogue for Hamlet himself.
