Στή μελέτη εξετάζονται όλες οι γνωστές μαρτυρίες σε συνάφεια με τις δύο περιοχές, καθώς και οι επαγγελματικές και άλλες σχέσεις των κατοίκων τους στη συγκεκριμένη περίοδο. Όπως θα διαφανεί, ο Άραχθος και η χαράδρα του, αντί να χωρίζει, ένωνε τις δύο περιοχές. Η χάραξη των συνόρων Ελλάδος-Οθωμανικής Αυτοκρατορίας στα 1881 ανέκοψε μόνο, χωρίς να εξαλείψει την επικοινωνία.

In this paper, under the light of a newly published ottoman register of 1564, we try to reconsider the context of the building and painting of the churches in the village Veltsista, near Ioannina. Thus, we conclude that the churches were built and decorated during a relatively prosperous era. We also establish that the church of the ‘Metamorphosis’ was a parish church, decorated by Mitrophanes, abbot of the ‘Philanthropinon’ monastery on the island of Ioannina. Furthermore, after examining the conditions of the beginning of the year 1568, we make the suggestion that the inscription of the ‘Metamorphosis’ church may be incorrect. But an on the spot transcription of the inscription proved that the correct date of it is in did the year 1568, in spite of the unfavorable coincidence.

In this paper we present all the texts concerning the Katsanochoria villages in Epirus that can be found in the “Φωνή της Ηπείρου” newspaper, which was published weekly in Athens from 1892 till 1915. In the articles one can learn about the Diaspora of the people of that time, about several kinds of social events and, in general, about all news from this particular area. But one must be careful, because, as today, newspaper articles were sometimes written to observe an end that was different than “objectivity”. This is obvious in the cases of articles about community disputes and the policies of the Ottoman State. The study is followed by a general index and a choice of photographs depicting some of the people mentioned in the texts.

Ιn this paper we edit forty epigraphs, which come fιom eleven villages called "Katsanochoria" and are situated ίη the southeast of the city of Ioannina, at a semi-mountainous area. The epigraphs, the majority of which is edited here for the fiIst time, come from all the churches of the area (about seventy in all). Fourteen are incised on stones on the walls of the churches and usually give us the date of foundation Fifteen aIe written on icons and seven on mural paintings and give us the date of painting. Finally four are carved on a censer, a chalice and a benediction cross. After the text of each epigraph, we comment on its contents and we give more details on the architectural features of each church. In order to achieve a better understanding of the epigraphs, first we tried to make a synthesis of our historical knowledge for the area until the late 16th century. Second we examined the history of the settlements, in which the churches were built and we tried to find out how the people managed to support financially their building activities. Finally we made an outline of the evolution of the architecture. Therefore, the conclusion can be drawn as follows: in the prosperous for all Europe 16th century, we have no historical material from the Katsanochoria. From the following years, though there was a general economic and demographic decline, and probably because there was a tendency towards herd breeding, the inhabitants of the Katsanochoria occupied themselves with the hide trade. Βy these means they managed to reserve the funds for the building of their churches. Later in the 17th century the crisis struck the area and so we have no information about the Katsanochoria in the period 1665-1695.

This study follows the life and actions of a wealthy banker living in the late Ottoman Jannina (Yanya). Through successful administering of large amounts of money, I.Z. Loulis managed to become an imprtant benefactor, utilizing the ottoman vakif system.

Η εξέταση της διάστασης του χώρου ως εναλλακτικού τρόπου προσέγγισης της λογοτεχνίας γνωρίζει τα τελευταία χρόνια μία σημαντική ανάπτυξη. Απέναντι στην κυρίαρχη γραμματολογική αντίληψη, η οποία εστιάζει αποκλειστικά στη γραμμική/χρονική εξέταση των λογοτεχνικών φαινομένων (κυρίως του λογοτεχνικού κανόνα), θεωρητικοί του πολιτισμού και της λογοτεχνίας αλλά και ερευνητές εισηγούνται τη διερεύνηση και του χωρικού παράγοντα ως διαμορφωτικού της λογοτεχνικής παραγωγής. Υπό αυτό το πρίσμα, στο βιβλίο εξετάζεται η έννοια της λογοτεχνικής πόλης, με παραδειγματική εφαρμογή στα κείμενα της νεοελληνικής πεζογραφίας που έχουν ως χώρο δράσης τους την πόλη των Ιωαννίνων. Το βιβλίο χωρίζεται σε τρία μέρη: α) Εισαγωγή, β) Τα κείμενα, γ) Βιοεργογραφικά σημειώματα.
Α) «Εισαγωγή». Στο εισαγωγικό μέρος του έργου παρουσιάζονται και αναπτύσσονται τα θεωρητικά ζητήματα που ανακύπτουν από την επιλογή της συγκεκριμένης οπτικής: Η σχέση της λογοτεχνικής με την πραγματική πόλη, η σχέση της αφηγούμενης εντός του λογοτεχνικού κειμένου ιστορίας με την Ιστορία, η μυθοποίηση των ιστορικών γεγονότων, η παρουσία και ο ρόλος υπαρκτών προσώπων της πόλης σε λογοτεχνικά κείμενα. Αναζητούνται τα χαρακτηριστικά εκείνα της λογοτεχνικής πόλης που αποτελούν τα διακριτικά της γνωρίσματα. Καθορίζεται η εικόνα της εντός των κειμένων σε σχέση με άλλες πόλεις, αλλά και την ευρύτερη Ηπειρωτική ενδοχώρα. Εξετάζονται οι σημάνσεις που προσδίδουν στην πόλη οι αφηγητές¬ ήρωες που προέρχονται από αυτήν, καθώς και οι επισκέπτες της. Διακρίνεται ο τρόπος που καταγράφεται στα λογοτεχνικά κείμενα η διαμόρφωση και η εξέλιξη των χαρακτηριστικών της πραγματικής πόλης στο πέρασμα του χρόνου. Επισημαίνεται ο καθοριστικός ρόλος του παράγοντα χρόνου στον προσδιορισμό του λογοτεχνικού χώρου. Όπως τονίζει στον πρόλογό του στο βιβλίο ο σεβασμιότατος Μητροπολίτης Ιωαννίνων κ. Θεόκλητος: η ίδια η πόλη είναι ένα βαρυσήμαντο «σημαίνον». Το άκουσμά του προκαλεί σημαίνοντες συνειρμούς, ανεξήγητους ασύνδετους με συγκεκριμενοποιημένα γεγονότα […] Παίζει κανείς με ακούσματα, φωνές που εκπηγάζουν από τα βάθη του χωροχρονικού συνεχούς το οποίο ονομάσαμε, κατοπινά, ιστορία.
Στην εισαγωγή παρουσιάζονται ακόμη τα κριτήρια ανθολόγησης των λογοτεχνικών κειμένων, αλλά και μία κριτική των όρων σύνθεσης ανάλογων ανθολογιών (τοπικού προσανατολισμού). Στο βιβλίο ανθολογούνται κείμενα της νεοελληνικής πεζογραφίας των τελευταίων εκατό χρόνων τα οποία αναφέρονται στην πόλη των Ιωαννίνων. Τα κριτήρια ανθολόγησης βασίστηκαν σε καθαρά λογοτεχνικούς/κειμενικούς όρους. Δεν αποτέλεσε κριτήριο η καταγωγή ή η βιογραφία των συγγραφέων τους. Ζητούμενο της ανθολογίας ήταν η ανάδειξη της εικόνας των Ιωαννίνων έτσι όπως αυτή διακρίνεται και σχηματοποιείται μέσα από τα λογοτεχνικά έργα, ο καθορισμός των λογοτεχνικών Γιαννίνων, και όχι η συναγωγή πεζογραφημάτων από Γιαννιώτες λογοτέχνες.
Β) «Τα κείμενα»: Στην ανθολόγηση  των λογοτεχνικών καταγραφών που τροφοδοτούν το αενάως διαμορφούμενο και εξελισσόμενο σημαίνον «λογοτεχνικά Γιάννενα» συμπεριλαμβάνονται διηγήματα ή αποσπάσματα μυθιστορημάτων των: Ευάγγελου Αβέρωφ - Τοσίτσα, Βασίλη Αλεξάκη, Ρένου Αποστολίδη, Γιάννη Δάλλα, Βασίλη Ζιώγα, Σωτήρη Ζούμπου, Ναπολέοντα Λαζάνη, Λάμπρου Μάλαμα, Χριστόφορου Μηλιώνη, Ανδρέα Μήτσου, Γιάννη Μπεράτη, Αριστοτέλη Νικολαϊδη, Ιωάννη Ν. Νικολαϊδη, Απόστολου Οικονόμου, Αναστασίου Παπαγγέλη, Ρόδη Ρούφου, Δημητρίου Στ. Σαλαμάγκα, Έρσης Σωτηροπούλου, Πέτρου Τατσόπουλου,  Κίμωνα Τζάλλα, Γεωργίου Χατζή-Πελλερέν, Δημητρίου Χατζή, Νίκου Χουλιαρά, Χρήστου Χρηστοβασίλη, Χρήστου Α. Χωμενίδη.
Τα κείμενα παρουσιάζονται ακολουθώντας τη χρονολογική σειρά εξέλιξης της ιστορίας της αφήγησης (ενδοκειμενική παράμετρος) και όχι το χρόνο συγγραφής ή έκδοσής τους (εξωκειμενικό κριτήριο).
Γ) Βιοεργογραφικά σημειώματα. Σύντομα βιογραφικά και αναλυτικά εργογραφικά στοιχεία καθενός ανθολογούμενου συγγραφέα παρατίθενται στο τέλος του βιβλίου. Έτσι, χωρίς να προκαταλαμβάνεται ο αναγνώστης από οποιαδήποτε εκτός κειμένου πληροφορία έχει τη δυνατότητα να αξιοποιήσει αυτό το υλικό κατά την επιθυμία του.

The work of painters originating from the village Kapesovo, of the Ioannina region, was the subject of a Ph.D. thesis submitted to the University of Ioannina, by D. Konstantios. The author, among others, edits the content of twenty-five inscriptions written by the painters, in churches they worked at. In this paper we mention twelve more inscriptions by the same painters, already published by others, while rectifying some mistakes made in the edition of the other twenty-five. Finally we are offering a new interpretation of the content of the totality of the inscriptions, regarding mainly to the members of the family of the painters. The general conclusion is that there is only one family, numbering twelve of its members as painters, during the period 1728-1841.

In this study we present all the texts concerning Zitsa village in Epirus and its inhabitants that can be found in the “Νεολόγος” newspaper, which was being published in Constantinople from 1867 till 1897. In the articles one can learn about the Diaspora of the people of that time, about several kinds of social events and, in general, about a vast range of news from this particular community, plenty of which are very interesting. In the case of education, the references are especially abundant and important, as well as in the case of benefaction, coming from some people of Zitsa, who established their professional career in Vlachia and whose charity work was mainly being destined for educational purposes. All this informative material may be very useful in the approach of Zitsa’s late nineteenth century history, as long as we interpret it with reservation and attention, because, as we know, objectivity and reliability of the Press are not always given a priori, but can be often affected and undermined by a lot of factors. For example, the articles sometimes conceal conveniences, personal motives, as in the case of community disputes, while they can also include inaccuracies based on ignorance of the subject or misinformation. The study is followed by a general index and a choice of photographs and other depictions related to the information mentioned in the texts.

Αυτό μας προτρέπει ο Περίανδρος, τύραννος της Κορίνθου. Να βλέπουμε το μέλλον, να προσέχουμε το μέλλον. Αυτό καλό θα ήταν να το διαβάσουν και βασικά να το ενστερνιστούν άπαντες το Δημοτικό συμβούλιο της πόλης των Ιωαννίνων. Εν μέρει το πράττουν, εν πολλοίς όχι. Ο νυν δήμαρχος της πόλης έχει ένα φιλόδοξο πλάνο εκμετάλλευσης κοινοτικών και εθνικών πόρων (πρόγραμμα Τρίτσης και άλλα) προκειμένου όπως λέει να βάλει την πόλη των Ιωαννίνων στον δρόμο για το μέλλον.

Petros Georgiadis was one of the most productive icon painters in the middle of the 19th c. He came from Ioannina, Epirus and had the advantage of being in close relation to the local Metropolis, being the Cantor there. He created dozens of icons always signing in a meticulously characteristic way. Nevertheless, only a couple of his signed murals have been preserved, in the city of Ioannina and on the Island of its lake. So, although his icons can be found in many villages of Epirus, as well as in Thessaly, Albania and Bulgaria, we can assume that he was not actually visiting these places. He was rather receiving orders and was painting in his workshop in Ioannina. In this way, the icons from the church of the Virgin in Paramythia were probably ordered because a new iconostasis was erected. Georgiadis painted from April till June 1853 eight large icons for the iconostasis and an icon stand. Each icon was paid for by a different donor although they were probably ordered all together. We should mention the icon of saint Donatus that seems to be Georgiadis’ innovative creation. Apart from these, he also painted two small icons of individual saints in 1854 and 1859 respectively.

Τον Αύγουστο του 2011 φορείς της πόλης των Ιωαννίνων βράβευσαν τον ποιητή Μιχάλη Γκανά για την προσφορά του στη νεοελληνική ποίηση. Το κείμενο αυτό είναι η εισήγηση που προηγήθηκε της βράβευσης του ποιητή.
Ξεκινώντας από την παραδοχή πως ορισμένες πόλεις έχουν άρρηκτα συνδεθεί με ονόματα Ελλήνων λογοτεχνών, στο κείμενο διαπιστώνεται η σύνδεση της πόλης των Ιωαννίνων με τον ποιητή Μιχάλη Γκανά και η μνημείωση των Ιωαννίνων στη συνείδηση του αναγνωστικού κοινού μέσω της ποίησης του Γκανά ως γυάλινα και μαλαματένια. Από την  εξέταση εξωλογοτεχνικών κριτηρίων (βιογραφικά στοιχεία) δεν προκύπτει κάποια σχέση ανάμεσα στους δύο όρους εξέτασης (π.χ. καταγωγής ή διαμονής). Έτσι η έρευνα στρέφεται στο ίδιο το λογοτεχνικό έργο του Γκανά το οποίο παρουσιάζεται με συντομία και εξετάζεται ως προς την ποιητική του.
Το ποιητικό έργο του Μιχάλη Γκανά αναφέρεται στον ανοικτό χώρο, στην ύπαιθρο, παρότι ο ποιητής τα τελευταία πενήντα χρόνια ζει στο κατεξοχήν αστικό χώρο της πρωτεύουσας. Στην ποίησή του, αν και Ιστορία δεν καταδηλώνεται, διαδραματίζει κεντρικό ρόλο, καθώς παρακολουθούμε τις συνέπειές της στους ήρωες των ποιημάτων. Μάλιστα ο ποιητής σταδιακά δίνει τον λόγο στους απόντες, τους νεκρούς της άλλης όχθης, κατά τρόπο ανάλογο με αυτόν που συναντάμε στα δημοτικά τραγούδια, και συγκεκριμένα στις παραλογές. Ο ποιητής εστιάζει σε θέματα προσωπικά, σε θέματα που θα μπορούσαν να χαρακτηριστούν ελάσσονα• κατακτά όμως, σύμφωνα με τον Γ.Π. Σαββίδη, μείζονα ποιητικά επιτεύγματα.  Στη συνέχεια εξετάζεται η σχέση της ποίησης του Μιχάλη Γκανά με την ποίηση της γενιάς του 70• γενιά στην οποία γραμματολογικά ανήκει. Διαπιστώνεται πως παρότι ο Γκανάς στην πρώτη του ποιητική συλλογή συμπορεύθηκε με τις ποιητικές κατακτήσεις της γενιάς του, στη συνέχεια αυτονομήθηκε και διαμόρφωσε τον δικό του τρόπο ποιητικής έκφρασης. Έναν τρόπο που αξιοποιεί τα διδάγματα της ποιητικής πρότασης των σημαντικότερων νεοελλήνων ποιητών: Σολωμού, Καρυωτάκη, Καβάφη, Σεφέρη κ.ά.
Στη σχέση της ποιητικής του Μιχάλη Γκανά με αυτή του δημοτικού τραγουδιού στρέφεται στη συνέχεια το ερευνητικό ενδιαφέρον. Διαπιστώνεται μια γόνιμη και ουσιαστική επικοινωνία, καθώς ο Γκανάς αξιοποιεί λειτουργικά στοιχεία της ποιητικής του. Ο Γκανάς δηλαδή ακολουθεί μια ανάλογη πρόταση αξιοποίησης των δημοτικών τραγουδιών με αυτή που πρότειναν ο Σοιλωμός, ο Γκάτσος, ο Σαχτούρης και ο Μέσκος• μια πρόταση που δεν αποτελεί αναβίωσή του, αλλά οργανική αξιοποίησή του για τη σύνθεση ενός σύγχρονου και μοντέρνου ποιητικού λόγου. Γιατί στην ποίηση του Μιχάλη Γκανά αξιοποιούνται ταυτόχρονα  μέσα που προέρχονται από την παράδοση όσο και μοντέρνες τεχνικές, οι οποίες και παρουσιάζονται στο κείμενο.
Καταληκτικά, η προβληματική του κειμένου επανέρχεται στο αρχικό ζήτημα: την εξέταση της σχέσης του Μιχάλη Γκανά με τα Γιάννενα. Αφού αυτή δεν εντοπίστηκε σε σημεία της βιογραφίας του ποιητή και έπειτα από την  εξέταση της λογοτεχνικής του παραγωγής, στο κείμενο προτείνεται αυτή να μην αναζητηθεί μόνο σε επίπεδο θεματικής (στη συλλογή Γυάλινα Γιάννενα, στην οποία άλλωστε τα Γιάννενα εμφανίζονται ελάχιστα ως τοπίο και σε λίγα μόνο ποιήματα της συλλογής). Θα πρέπει να αναζητηθεί και στα στοιχεία της ιστορίας, της παράδοσης και του πολιτισμού που φέρει η πόλη των Ιωαννίνων και τα οποία οργανικά αφομοιώνει στο σήμερα, στοιχεία που εν πολλοίς βρίσκονται σε αντίστιξη με τα στοιχεία της ποιητικής που ανιχνεύθηκαν στον ποιητικό λόγο του Μιχάλη Γκανά.

In this paper we mainly present a collection of new epigraphs, memories and notes referring to ecclesiastic monuments and liturgical books of the village Zitsa in the Ioannina region, all unpublished, except one, that had not been included in our two previous works, published in 2013 and 2006 respectively, because we discovered them in retrospect or because they eluded our attention. Secondarily, in very few cases, we have made some corrections in our already published epigraphs and memories, either in text or in the comments upon their content. In particular, we register altogether forty-five evidence (eighteen epigraphs, ten memories, seventeen notes); we have also revised two epigraphs and two memories. All the epigraphs, except one, and most of the notes are relevant to Zitsa; on the contrary, all the memories, except one, and few notes are irrelevant to it. This primary material includes mostly unknown, as well as known information, some of it being quite interesting, so we hope that it will enrich and complete our initial studies. Furthermore, we believe that our corrections, apart from restoring the mistakes will also shed light to some unclear points.

The marble sarcophagus from the Archeological Museum of Ioannina found near the modern city of Igoumenitsa dates back to the 2nd century AD. It belongs to a category of sarcophagi with mythological friezes very common in Roman funerary art. In contrast with other types, this one was strictly connected with literary sources, in our case Homer’s “Iliad”. The reliefs of the Ioannina sarcophagus feature Priam asking Achilles for the body of Hector – one of the most popular “Trojan” scenes – but in combination with other, less common subjects, for example a representation of Achilles mourning Patroclus. This motif is of particular interest. It seems to be iconographically close to the mourning scenes on Roman sarcophagi, connected with other myths, or even with the representations of real life rituals taken out of mythological context. This article aims to specify the relationship between the Ioannina reliefs (and other similar examples) with the literal source, as well as the possible influence of actual burial rites on the figurative tradition. So, by comparing different visual and literal sources, we can deduce something about the context in which the sarcophagus was made.

Giannina is one of the Greek cities which were closely linked with trade on a wide geographical scale.
A large number of Gianniots settled, mainly from the seventeenth century onward, in many states in Central Europe and the Italian Peninsula, operating as links in mercantile networks. They were dealing mainly in agricultural and craft-industrial products of Epirus and the surrounding regions (Macedonia and Thessaly), for which the Epirot capital was an important node of transit trade. In Italy, Gianniots boosted demographically important hearths of Hellenism, in cities such as Naples, Ancona and also Venice where they are encountered already from the late fifteenth century.
The present study focuses on the mid-sixteenth century (1550-1567), presenting an unprecedented activity –for the period– of Gianniot merchants, whose traces are found in notarial registers in the State Archives of Venice: forty-two Gianniots were involved with trade in Venice, importing products from Epirus and other Greek regions, and exporting European manufactured goods to these places in return.
Examined specifically are the commercial practices in which these merchants engaged in the framework of their transactions, as well as the geographical ambit and the object of their activities.
The presence of so many Gianniot merchants in Venice, barely a century after the Fall of Constantinople, reveals that Greek trade was anything but diminished, despite the hardships brought by the Ottoman conquest. To the contrary, it exploited to advantage the Pax Ottomana established in the subject territories. It is also clear confirmation of the hypothesis that the mass settlement of Epirot merchants in harbour towns of the Adriatic Sea had begun much earlier than hitherto believed, that is the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.



Giannina è una delle città greche che legò la sua memoria storica alla pratica sistematica del commercio. Una moltitudine di giannioti si stabilì, soprattutto dal XVII sec. in poi, in molti paesi dell’Europa Centrale ed Orientale ove funzionarono da anello di congiunzione nello sviluppo commerciale. Fine dei loro traffici era la commercializzazione della produzione agricola ed artigianale dell’Epiro e delle regioni attorno, la Macedonia e la Tessaglia, delle quali la capitale dell’Epiro costituiva un importante centro di transito. In Italia i giannioti formarono ben presto colonie in città come Napoli ed Ancona. A Venezia si stabilirono già all’inizio del XV sec., senza però che si possa osservare una loro rilevante attività commerciale prima del XVII sec.
Nel presente studio si segnala nella metà del ’500 (1550-1567) un’attività sconosciuta fino ad allora: quarantadue giannioti che commerciano a Venezia vendendo prodotti dell’Epiro e di altre regioni adiacenti ed importando manufatti europei. La presenza di tanti mercanti giannioti a Venezia un secolo appena dopo la caduta di Costantinopoli rivela che il commercio greco non aveva perduto lo suo splendore, malgrado le avversità prodotte dall’occupazione ottomana. Al contrario sfruttarono molto bene la cosidetta Pax Ottomana che seguì alla fine delle conquiste turche. Costituisce inoltre una chiara dimostrazione del fatto che un massiccio insediamento di mercanti epiroti nei porti dell’Adriatico ebbe inizio molto prima di quanto si pensava fino ad oggi, cioè nei secc. XVII e XVIII.

Giannina is one of the Greek cities which were closely linked with trade on a wide geographical scale.
A large number of Gianniots settled, mainly from the seventeenth century onward, in many states in Central Europe and the Italian Peninsula, operating as links in mercantile networks. They were dealing mainly in agricultural and craft-industrial products of Epirus and the surrounding regions (Macedonia and Thessaly), for which the Epirot capital was an important node of transit trade. In Italy, Gianniots boosted demographically important hearths of Hellenism, in cities such as Naples, Ancona and also Venice where they are encountered already from the late fifteenth century.
The present study focuses on the mid-sixteenth century (1550-1567), presenting an unprecedented activity –for the period– of Gianniot merchants, whose traces are found in notarial registers in the State Archives of Venice: forty-two Gianniots were involved with trade in Venice, importing products from Epirus and other Greek regions, and exporting European manufactured goods to these places in return.
Examined specifically are the commercial practices in which these merchants engaged in the framework of their transactions, as well as the geographical ambit and the object of their activities.

Le cadre général de l' activité technique traditionelle de la tannerie, exercée à Yannina-ville montagneuse d' Epire, au nord-ouest de la Grèce-, a la fin 19ème-début 20ème siecles et pendant la dernière periode de son apparition, constitue la contribution à l' étude de l' histoire économique et sociale de l' Epire régionale et de son identité culturelle. Yannina, centre administratif ottoman, ville-dépôt des marchandises et des matières premières du commerce d' exportation du 16ème s. et du17ème s., est l' habitat des artisans et des commerçants organisés sous le régime corporatif à partir le 17ème s. Pandant cette période l' augmentation démographique a fait que ses habitants ont construit la nouvelle ville, déhors des mourailles byzantines. Cette ville a vecu une grande continuité artisanale appuyée sur les deux axes du dévéloppement urbain et social, le commerce et l' artisanat. Par consequence, les deux secteurs economiques affirment son caractère et son identité, dépuis le 17ème s. D' autre part, l' histoire et la continuité technique, les artisans et les atéliers préindustiels, affirment le passagede l' activite traditionnelle à l' activité proto-industrielle. Le rapport entre les deux secteurs économiques constitue la longue histoire artisanale de Yannina, écrite sur le chemin du commerce exterieur des grandes distances, et dans le passage au petit commerce rέgional du 19ème s., au cadre d' un flux et d' un reflux de l' evolution économique régionale, liée aux conditions économiques internationaux. Comprendre le processus de cette transformation par l' étude du chemin que la force du travail a suivi (comme d' ailleurs des marchands-entrepreneurs), utilisée dans l' élaboration de la peau et sa transportation aux marchés, montre le degré du progrès et de la modernité, dite industrialisation qui se présenta comme grande évolution technologique au dernier quart du 19eme s. La recherche sur l' exercise du métier est liée à la réalité technique et s' appuie sur l' étude des atéliers et des entreprises, établies depuis le 17eme siecle. L' activité constatée jusqu' au début du 20ème s. et encore plus bas, aux années '70, comme le métier des derniers artisans de l' Epire, région absolument éloignée du centre administratif du nouveaux État hellénique comme d' ailleurs de l' État actuel. Dans cette période s' inscrit la hausse et la décadence de la situoation technique et corporative traditionnelle, de sa continuité et sa durée apparues dans l' histoire de la tradition artisanale, survivante aux dimensions d' une continuite technique. L' activité de la tannerie locale se produit et se reproduit entre corporation et modernité économique. Sa transformation présupposerait la dissolution du statut corporatif et le passage aux règles de l' économie du marché, pose des questions sur les limites, les buts et le caractère du processus. La proto-industrialisation régionale, coincide à la crise génèrale de l' économie ottomane, et elle présente un dévéloppement ambigue dans les régions non pas encore liberés.

Το κείμενο, εισήγηση στο Επιστημονικό Συνέδριο «Η λογοτεχνία των Ηπειρωτών», χωρίζεται σε δύο ενότητες. Στην πρώτη εξετάζονται θεωρητικά ζητήματα γύρω από την έννοια του χώρου στη λογοτεχνία και τη συμβολή της στα λογοτεχνικά φαινόμενα. Συγκεκριμένα ασκείται κριτική στη γραμματολογική αντίληψη για τη μελέτη της εθνικής λογοτεχνίας, αντίληψη που εστιάζει στην γραμμική/ιστορική διάσταση και στον λογοτεχνικό κανόνα, και εντοπίζονται οι αδυναμίες και τα αδιέξοδα αυτής της πρακτικής. Διερευνάται το ζήτημα των σχέσεων κέντρου/περιφέρειας και διαπιστώνεται η μονοπωλιακή καταγραφή της Αθήνας με αποτέλεσμα την ψευδή αίσθηση ομοιομορφίας και ομοιογένειας στη λογοτεχνική παραγωγή. Παράλληλα αντιμετωπίζονται κριτικά οι προσπάθειες ανάδειξης των περιφερειακών λογοτεχνιών που καταγράφονται τα τελευταία χρόνια, καθώς αυτές γίνονται με ασυστηματοποίητο και αμέθοδο τρόπο. Στη συνέχεια, ακολουθώντας την προβληματική του F. Moretti για τη λογοτεχνική γεωγραφία, εξετάζεται η  έννοια του λογοτεχνικού χώρου και η σημασία του για τη λογοτεχνική παραγωγή.
Στο δεύτερο μέρος της μελέτης μεταφέρεται ο θεωρητικός προβληματισμός που αναπτύχθηκε στην ιδιαίτερη περίπτωση της λογοτεχνίας της Ηπείρου. Καταθέτονται τέσσερις προτάσεις/παράμετροι για τη συγκρότηση μιας ποιητικής της λογοτεχνίας του ηπειρώτικου χώρου, των λογοτεχνικών έργων δηλαδή στα οποία ο χώρος αυτός διαδραματίζει καθοριστικό ρόλο. Οι προτάσεις αφορούν συγκεκριμένα:
α) Τα όρια και την έκταση του ηπειρώτικου χώρου. Προτείνεται η διεύρυνση των ορίων, έξω από κάθε σύμβαση διοικητικής διαίρεσης. Διαπιστώνεται η ύπαρξη κοινών σημείων της λογοτεχνίας του ηπειρώτικου χώρου με έργα λογοτεχνών από όμορες γεωγραφικές περιοχές. Έτσι προτείνεται ως διευρυμένο πλαίσιο μελέτης η ηπειρωτική ενδοχώρα της Ελλάδας και όχι η Ήπειρος με τα στενά διοικητικά της όρια.
β) Τις έννοιες κέντρο/περιφέρεια. Αποδεχόμενοι τις απόψεις της Λ. Τσιριμώκου, που διατυπώνονται στη μελέτη της για τη λογοτεχνία της πόλης, αναφορικά με την ύπαρξη του άξονα κέντρου-περιφέρειας και την κυρίαρχη παρουσία του κέντρου (Αθήνας) στη λογοτεχνική παραγωγή με τη συνακόλουθη τοποθέτηση της υπόλοιπης Ελλάδας στον πόλο της περιφέρειας, προτείνεται η προσθήκη ενός τρίτου ενδιάμεσου πόλου. Τούτο γιατί διαπιστώνεται η ύπαρξη κάποιων λογοτεχνικών πόλεων (μία εκ των οποίων τα Γιάννενα) οι οποίες προσλαμβάνουν χαρακτηριστικά πότε του ενός και πότε του άλλου πόλου, ανάλογα με την οπτική των αφηγητών των λογοτεχνικών κειμένων.
γ) Τα λογοτεχνικά είδη. Διερευνάται η συχνότητα και η ποιότητα των λογοτεχνικών εγγραφών του ηπειρώτικου χώρου στα διάφορα λογοτεχνικά είδη της πεζογραφίας και της ποίησης. Στην πεζογραφία διαπιστώνεται η μονοπωλιακή, σχεδόν, εγγραφή του διηγήματος, η εμφάνιση κάποιων πολυχωρικών μυθιστορημάτων και η καλλιέργεια της ταξιδιωτικής λογοτεχνίας. Στην ποίηση καταγράφονται τα διακριτικά χαρακτηριστικά που ανιχνεύονται στα έργα των ποιητών οι οποίοι συνδέονται με τον ηπειρώτικο χώρο: προσφυγή στην ποιητική του δημοτικού τραγουδιού, λειτουργία της μνήμης, κατάθεση προσωπικών βιωμάτων, εικονοποιία ανοικτού χώρου, λιτή γλώσσα.
δ) Την έννοια του χρόνου. Προτείνεται η συνεξέταση του παράγοντα του χρόνου με το χώρο ως σύστημα, ως χωροχρονικής ενότητας. Εξετάζονται οι έννοιες του ατομικού και του συλλογικού χρόνου, του αφηγηματικού παρόντος και παρελθόντος, και η σημασία τους στη διαμόρφωση των λογοτεχνικών κειμένων.

This paper examines the lettering of the inscription in the Katholikon of the Holy Trinity monastery at Meteora, dated 1741, in comparison to the inscription of the church of the Dormition, situated in the village Lofiskos (old name Tsergiani), near Ioannina of Epirus, dated in 1762. The conclusion is that the painter and priest Antonios, who painted in 1741, can be identified with the painter and priest Antonios from Ioannina that painted in 1762, in cooperation with the renowned painters Anastasios and his son Ioannis, from the village Kapesovo, also near Ioannina, Epirus.

"Ta Demosia" are proposed by epitelesis - Performance Art Foundation as a series of live performances in public spaces, in collaboration with the project "Gradient: From Gray to Color Scale" based on the theme of public intervention. These live performances took place at Tzami Kaloutsianis in Ioannina on the 7th of July 2014, with a total duration of three hours.

This paper seeks to problematize the use of figural art for didactic purposes by Muslim patrons in the late Ottoman period. More specifically, it deals with murals of a narrative character once found in the residences of the sons of the infamous Ali Pasha of Ioannina in his 'capital'. In this tripartite essaya, I shall first discuss instances in which the utility of figural representations as a means of non-verbal communication was recognized in various Islamic contexts, in which the dominant approach to art was aniconic. I will continue by presenting the evidence of the said murals' existence and content, and ruminating about their potential place in Ali Pasha's Ioannina. In searching for a framework for an analysis of this seemingly unique case, I will then attempt to rationalize it in the context of a decentralized system of artistic process in the late Ottoman world. Hence, I should like to position my paper at the conjuncture of two historiographical complexes: that of the teleological use of figural representations in Islamic societies on one hand, and that of the culture and 'cosmos' of late Ottoman provincial strongmen on the other.

Γιάννενα, γυάλινα και μαλαματένια

Οι Ψηφίδες είναι ένας νέος διαδικτυακός τόπος του Κέντρου Ελληνικής Γλώσσας ο οποίος περιλαμβάνει σώματα κειμένων, γλωσσικά εργαλεία, πολυμεσικούς πόρους, εκπαιδευτικά σενάρια, μελέτες, γραμματολογίες κ.ά. για την υποστήριξη της διδασκαλίας και της έρευνας της αρχαίας και νέας ελληνικής γλώσσας και γραμματείας. Η δημιουργία του δικτυακού τόπου εντάσσεται σε σειρά δράσεων που το Κέντρο Ελληνικής Γλώσσας σχεδίασε και υλοποιεί με στόχο τη διαμόρφωση μεθοδολογικού πλαισίου για τη γλωσσική διδασκαλία με ψηφιακά μέσα και τη δημιουργία πρόσθετων εκπαιδευτικών πόρων για τα γλωσσικά μαθήματα, στο πλαίσιο του έργου του Ψηφιακού Σχολείου του Υπουργείου Πολιτισμού, Παιδείας και Θρησκευμάτων.  Μία από τις δράσεις που αφορά στη Νέα Ελληνική Λογοτεχνία είναι η ενότητα Πόλη και Λογοτεχνία, στην οποία παρατίθεται πολυμεσικό εκπαιδευτικό υλικό για πόλεις της Ελλάδας και του εξωτερικού.
Τα Γιάννενα είναι μία από αυτές. Είναι η πόλη των θρύλων. Η πρωτεύουσα της Ηπείρου. Μια πόλη σύγχρονη. Μια πόλη όπου η παράδοση συναντά το σήμερα, όπου ο Μύθος τέμνει την Ιστορία. Μια πόλη πραγματική, υφιστάμενη, μα και ταυτόχρονα μια πόλη ονειρική και παραμυθένια. Μια πόλη γυάλινη και μαλαματένια…
Συγκεκριμένα στην ενότητα Ιωάννινα θα βρείτε όψεις αυτής της πολιτείας στο χωροχρονικό της συνεχές. Ας μη λησμονεί όμως πως είναι οι ανθρώπινες μικροϊστορίες εκείνες που συγκροτούν και επηρεάζονται από την μεγάλη Ιστορία, πως όσο κι αν μεγάλωσε, όσο κι αν άλλαξε η πόλη αυτή, στις καρδιές των ανθρώπων της, θα παραμένει πάντα «η μικρή μας πόλη».
Όταν ρώτησαν τον Κουτσογιάννη, που ήταν βοσκός στα όρη και πήγε για πρώτη φορά στα Γιάννενα, τι είδε, εκείνος απάντησε:
«Θυάματα! Θυάματα!»
