Pierwszym momentem poważnego zderzenia się wyobrażeń o uczeniu z rzeczywistością jest okres praktyk nauczycielskich. To, jak podejmująca praktykę studentka poradzi sobie oraz to, jak zostanie wstępnie ukształtowana jako nauczycielka, zależy w dużej mierze od nabytych w tym czasie doświadczeń, od postaw zaobserwowanych u nauczyciela-opiekuna i innych pedagogów, wreszcie od uczniów, z którymi będzie pracować. Stwierdzenie to jest truizmem, którego znaczenie docenia się dopiero w chwili rozpoczęcia swej pierwszej lekcji.

The purpose of this article is to show that Józef Tischner’s philosophy of drama can be interpreted as onto-theo-logy. This is not obvious, because the philosophy of the drama is strongly influenced by Levinas and places itself on the side of agatology and in opposition to ontology. Despite this, I put forward the thesis that the philosophy of drama is a peculiar project of human existence and, consequently, also a project of Being of beings as a whole. Analyzes of “The Philosophy of Drama” are aimed at extracting a quadrangle (das Geviert) from the text. I also note some ambiguities in Tischner’s text.

"Etyka sytuacyjna prawnika" składa się z dwóch części. Pierwsza części monografii porusza podstawowe zagadnienia etyki prawniczej (m.in. kwestie zasadności jej kodyfikacji). Celem części drugiej jest usytuowanie etyki zawodowej radcy, notariusza czy sędziego na tle etyk zawodowych innych profesji, tj. etyki medycznej i etyki biznesu. Trzecia, najważniejsza część pracy prezentuje ogólna teorie etyki prawniczej, nazwana etyka sytuacyjna prawnika. W monografii przedstawiam koncepcję etyka sytuacyjnej prawnika, czyli takiej etyki zawodowej, która kładzie nacisk na osobista decyzje w sytuacji dylematu etyczno-zawodowego. W przypadku prawnika decyzja ta wiąże się z odniesieniem do uniwersalnych wartości (takich jak sprawiedliwość czy tajemnica zawodowa), przez wzgląd na osobisty kontakt z kimś, kogo prawnik ma sądzić, bronić albo oskarżać. Taka koncepcja etyki zawodowej nawiązuje do dorobku trzech wielkich przedstawicieli etyki fenomenologicznej – Maxa Schelera, Nocolaia Hartmanna i Józefa Tischnera.

The article examines the question of the Mariological interpretation of the eight beatitudes contained in Mt 5:3-10. Christian theologians of all ages, from Clement of Alexandria to the authors of contemporary biblical commentaries, have proposed various interpretations of this biblical text. Among the multitude of interpretations developed throughout history, the Mariological aspect appears quite rarely. Yet, as Pope Benedict XVI observes, the very biblical Marian title “Blessed” should direct the theological thought to the Mariological aspects of this issue. In modern times, a very deep reflection on the subject was conducted by two great theologians of the XX century, J. Ratzinger (Benedict XVI) and H.U. von Balthasar. On the Polish ground, the task was partly undertaken by J. Tischner, who elaborated the theme of eight beatitudes in the key of the Marian pilgrimage of the nation. The present work is meant to deepen the Mariological-biblical analysis of the eight beatitudes and revive the discussion regarding this subject in the perspective proposed by Benedict XVI, to understand the beatitudes as a program of life for a modern Christian.

Polski mesjanizm jest kluczem do zrozumienia dzieła Jana Pawła II. Nie da się właściwie pojąć papieskiej teologii historii, teologii cierpienia i teologii narodu bez kontekstu polskiej myśli romantycznej. Nauczanie Jana Pawła II jest przy tym finalną postacią naszego mesjanizmu, dzięki czemu samo stanowi klucz do jego właściwego odczytania.

Celem książki jest ukazanie tischnerowkiej filozofii człowieka jako cennego źródła inspiracji pedagogicznych, próba ujęcia jego koncepcji człowieka jako paidei, która stać się może filozoficznym fundamentem nowoczesnej teorii wychowania. Wyartykułowanie filozofii wychowania inspirowanej tischnerowską filozofią człowieka wydaje się być szczególnie ważne wobec obserwowanego obecnie procesu rozmijania się teorii pedagogicznych z praktyką wychowania.Szczególnie inspirująca dla teoretyków i praktyków wychowania może być Tischnera koncepcja człowieka agatologicznego, czyli człowieka stającego się, tworzącego samego siebie, odpowiadającego na spotkane dobro. W ten sposób ujętą Tischnerowską filozofię człowieka autor książki ukazuje jako podstawę oryginalnej paidei oraz ufundowanej na niej pedagogii agatologicznej.Pierwsza część książki poświęcona jest wskazaniu na związki i zależności pomiędzy filozofią i pedagogiką przez odwołanie się do kategorii paidei. Paideia wiąże refleksję nad istotą człowieczeństwa i powinnościami człowieka z praktyką wychowania, polegającą na pobudzaniu człowieka do życia moralnego. Dlatego stanowić może bogate źródło inspiracji dla współczesnej filozoficznej refleksji nad teoretycznymi i praktycznymi aspektami wychowania.Drugi i trzeci rozdział stanowi rekonstrukcję Tischnerowskiej filozofii człowieka, zwłaszcza tych wątków w twórczości krakowskiego filozofa, które wydają się być znaczące dla ujęć pedagogicznych.Ostatni, IV rozdział, jest próbą skonstruowania modelu paidei opartego na Tischnera koncepcji człowieka. Model pedagogii agatologicznej, jak wynika z rekonstruowanej koncepcji człowieka agatologicznego, zorganizowany jest wokół podstawowych założeń pedagogii agatologicznej: ujęcia dobra jako celu wychowania, wolności jako warunku wychowania, podkreślenie roli wychowawcy w procesie wychowania oraz ukazanie struktury relacji międzyosobowych w tym procesie.

Od zarania dziejów refleksji filozoficznej mamy do czynienia z ciekawością człowieka, który nie tylko chce poznawać granice tego, co właśnie poznawczo – pod wieloma względami – jest dostępne, ale pragnie sięgać dalej – poza. Niejednokrotnie okazywało się, że wydumane spekulacje na temat świata, człowieka czy ciał niebieskich okazywały się dalekie od tego „jak się rzeczy mają”. Homo sapiens nigdy się jednak nie poddał i nadal szuka wszelkich możliwych sposobów intelektualnego i naukowego okiełznania nie tylko otaczającego go (wszech)świata, ale i siebie samego. Liczne problemy, mimo wytężonej pracy pokoleń badaczy, wciąż pozostają nierozwiązane i nie zanosi się, aby ten stan rzeczy uległ zmianie w najbliższym czasie, by wspomnieć tylko problem psychofizyczny czy pytanie o to, jakie jeszcze tajemnice skrywają czarne dziury.

Mając nadzieję, że prezentowany zbiór przyczyni się do owocnego i pogłębionego namysłu nad rzeczywistością, w ramach (…) wprowadzenia do lektury studiów, pozwolę sobie (…) przytoczyć słowa Hartmanna: „problemy metafizyczne kryją się wszędzie na zapleczu poszczególnych działów filozofii. W każdym z nich wyłaniają się za pytaniami od razu uchwytnymi. Ograniczają w ten sposób cały obszar problematyki filozoficznej, okazują się ograniczającym wszystkie problemy horyzontem, w którym każdy kierunek ma inną zupełnie treść i inną wagę. Całokształt treści aporii zawartych w tym horyzoncie składa się na naturalną metafizykę problemów, których nie można uchylić”[1].

Europejska filozofia spotkania i dialogu powstała i przeżywała swoją „złotą dekadę” w latach dwudziestych XX wieku. Wtedy swoje najważniejsze prace publikowali: Hermann Cohen (Religion der Vernunft aus den Quellen des Judentums – 1919 r.), Franz Rosenzweig (Der Stern der Erlösung – 1921 r.), Ferdynand Ebner (Das Wort und die geistigen Realitäten. Pneumatologische Fragmente – 1921 r.), Martin Buber (Ich und Du – 1923 r.) czy Gabriel Marcel (Journal métaphysique – 1927 r.). Historia rozwoju tego nurtu filozofii w Polsce rozpoczęła się pół wieku później. Niniejsza praca przedstawia recepcję myślenia dialogicznego, ze szczególnym wskazaniem na najważniejsze tłumaczenia tekstów źródłowych, monografie i opracowania dokonywane przez rodzimych autorów, konferencje i sympozja poświęcone filozofii spotkania i dialogu, a także wpływ europejskich dialogików na myśl filozoficzną głównych przedstawicieli tego nurtu w Polsce oraz oraz głosy krytyczne dyskredytujące myślenie według paradygmatu dialogicznego. Niniejsza praca przedstawia także odpowiedź na pytanie: Co to jest filozofia spotkania i dialogu? Odwołując się do konferencyjnych wystąpień Józefa Tischnera, Johanna Madera, Bernharda Caspera i Jacka Filka. Referaty te, wygłaszane na przestrzeni czterech dekad, przywołują klimat dokonującej się w tym czasie recepcji europejskiej dialogiki w Polsce. Wystąpienia te można w pewnym sensie określić mianem "programowych”. Na przestrzeni tych lat nie tylko kształtowały one krakowską szkołę filozofii spotkania i dialogu skupioną wokół Tischnera i jego filozofii dramatu, ale także wskazują na aktualność myślenia dialogicznego i zainteresowanie tą tematyką wśród młodszych pokoleń.

"Anthropology of Theater. The Comparative Analysis of Anthropologies by Józef Tischner and Helmuth Plessner".

In this paper I draw the parallel between existential condition of human being and theater. In both cases the same characteristic situations and relations seem to be relevant: stage, audience, role, mask etc. To illustrate these particular similarities I refer to two 20th Century philosophers: Józef Tischner and Helmuth Plessner. For illustrating their philosophical claims both applied very often the metaphor of theater. They conceived of human reality as a stage that is being constantly constituted in meaning by men and their mutual relations. By the same token people present themselves from behind a veil of social roles that let them be both private and public figures. However, what essentially differs discussed philosophers from each other is an understanding of a historic aspect of human existence and its metaphysical (theological) substantiation. While Plessner considers human being historic and always open question, Tischner puts their existence in the context of absolute values and enroots it in the highest instance of divine Being.

Ksiądz Tischner – uważał, że pracował głównie nad ludzką nadzieją – moim zdaniem napracowali się nad nią także twórcy tego krążka. Filozoficzną myśl księdza Tischnera w liryki ujęli: Roman Kołakowski i Krzysztof Trebuni-Tutka, a wkomponowali poezję w muzykę: Wojciech Waglewski, Mateusz Pospieszalski i Karim Martusewicz oraz Krzysztof Trebuni-Tutka. Osobiście polecam utwory śpiewane przez Waglewskiego, są łatwiej przyswajalne. Swoją drogą bardzo jest ostatnio pracowity, płyta za płytą płynie („Koledzy”), na co można powiedzieć tylko: och, świetnie!

El fenómeno de solidaridad sigue acarreando disputas, sigue sien-do valorado de muy diferentes maneras y aún espera ser plenamente entendido. « » comenzó como un movimiento social en Po-lonia en 1980. Englobaba las esperanzas y anhelos de la gente, que salieron a la luz en aquellos tiempos, dándoles mucho que pensar a los políticos, intelectuales y a los mismos participantes de este arrebato social. El sacerdote profesor Józef Tischner, cuya obra Ética de la Soli-daridad se convirtió en la «biblia» del nuevo movimiento, se propuso analizar este nuevo, sorprendente, fenómeno social en el marco de la filosofía de diálogo. Su percepción de la idea de solidaridad debe mu-cho al planteamiento de Lévinas sobre la moral, que se construye en la perspectiva del reto que supone para el hombre la debilidad del Otro y la responsabilidad por su vida. 1. La libertad, el individuo y nosotros La base de la filosofía ética de Tischner fue la convicción de que toda acción ética, es una manifestación de la libertad. Inspirado por Kierkegaard, Tischner sostenía que en la vida humana existe solo un acto realmente libre: «El acto en el cual el ser humano elige su propia libertad o la renuncia» 2. El acto de elección constituye el espacio en el cual se realiza la existencia humana. La libertad la descubrimos en medio de las ilusiones de la libertad, cuando nos liberamos de diferentes formas de sumisión, las cuales se califican como tipos de libertad (las negativas: «la libertad» de asumir la responsabilidad, el riesgo, de realizar su propio potencial, de participar en la vida pública; las positivas: la libertad para elegir un bien de consumo en lugar del otro, la aceptaciónx.

Christian inspirations in ethics may be of various kinds. In some cases, they involve general references to the Christian view of the world and man, at other times they lead to the development of coherent and adequate models of Christian ethics. Christian inspirations may be identified with a certain “horizon of mean-ing” which affects our interpretation of reality. Today, reference is made in some countries to Christian inspirations in social and political life, art or the education of children and youth. With respect to philosophy, the term “Christian inspirations” is encountered for example in the Italian language and its concept of “Christian-inspired personalism” (personalismo di ispirazi-one cristiana) or “Christian-inspired ethics” (etica di ispirazione cristiana).
Christian inspirations in ethics most often refer to the use in the analysis of the phenomenon of morality of such cogni-tive categories as the Christian view of conscience, natural law, freedom, or dignity of the human person. Such reference to the heritage of Christian thought is found today in many authors, also those representing the lay or humanist view of man, the world, and culture. In some cases, the saturation with Christian categories is so great that it leads to the formation of coherent models of Christian ethics.

Studies on the ideas of the Reverend Józef Tischner seen from the angle of the press, radio and television show clearly that he was a public figure, especially in the 1990s. For many people – including journalists – Tischner appeared to be an authority who could raise different subjects, often controversial, and at the same time engage listeners or the audience with his speech. The significant reason for Tischner’s popularity was also the way he communicated. This article aims at showing the rev. Tischner as a public figure. The article has been based on the doctoral dissertation titled The Reverend Józef Tischner in the Polish mass media (1955–2000). Political and media studies. The dissertation was recognized in 2012 by the „Media Studies” Editorial team during the competition in doctoral dissertation on media studies.
Badając myśl księdza Józefa Tischnera przez pryzmat prasy, radia i telewizji, nie ulega wątpliwości, że był on postacią medialna, szczególnie w latach dziewięćdziesiątych ubiegłego stulecia. Dla wielu – w tym także dla dziennikarzy – Tischner jawił się jako autorytet potrafiący, z jednej strony podejmować różne, często kontrowersyjne tematy, z drugiej zaś zaciekawiać swoją wypowiedzią słuchacza czy widza. Stawiając pytanie o przyczynę popularności Tischnera można uznać, że ogromne znaczenie miała także forma Tischnerowskiego przekazu. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest pokazanie ks. Tischnera jako osobowości medialnej. Tekst powstał w oparciu o pracę doktorską nt. Ksiądz Józef Tischner w polskich środkach społecznego przekazu (1955–2000). Studium politologiczno-medioznawcze. Praca została wyróżniona w 2012 r. przez Redakcję „Studiów Medioznawczych” w konkursie na pracę doktorską z zakresu nauk o mediach.

The article presents a model of personalist biography that stands in opposition to the postmodernist one. The personalist biography model refers in terms of anthropology to Viktor E. Frankl, the founder of logotherapy (‘Third Viennese School of Psychotherapy’) and the key thinkers of the personalist movement: Karol Wojtyła, Mieczysław Krąpiec, Józef Tischner and Czesław S. Bartnik. Stressing the subjective aspect of biography, the personalist model allows for capturing the personal character of the created biographical portrait of a given person while also taking into account the postulates formed by the critics of biographical writing in its traditional and later structuralist forms, especially the postulates related to the requirement of biographer’s objectivity and neutrality. Kluczowe znaczenie dla naszej zgody narodowej ma rzetelne opisanie dziejów „Solidarności” w latach 1986-1989 w kategoriach historii idei. Bez wiedzy o tym okresie w dziejach „Solidarności” nie rozumiemy naszych obecnych sporów politycznych, nie potrafimy wytłumaczyć naszej rzeczywistości na arenie międzynarodowej. Głębokie podziały w „Solidarności” 1986 r. są matrycą obecnych sporów politycznych w naszym kraju. Jakie kwestie stanowiły wówczas przedmiot dyskusji? Można wskazać na cztery główne obszary konfliktu. Po pierwsze, spór dotyczył przyszłości NSZZ „Solidarność”: czy Związek – zgodnie ze Statutem – ma mieć dalej charakter demokratyczny czy należy mu nadać charakter bardziej wodzowski? Po drugie, głębokie różnice były związane z oceną komunizmu i jego zbrodni. Po trzecie, spór dotyczył charakteru przyszłej reformy gospodarczej. Po czwarte, członków „Solidarności” zaczęła dzielić wizja przyszłej Polski.

Zapytany o to, jak żyć, ks. Józef Tischner odpowiedział: "Nieważne jak, ważne z kim". "Pogranicze" rodziło się z ducha tischnerowskiego "etosu solidarności". Nie wystarczała nam już sama kultura wolności, o którą walczyliśmy przed 1989 rokiem.

Gdyby Tischner lepiej znał zasady psychoterapii, a nie tylko aksjologiczne i epistemologiczne koncepcje psychiatryczne Kępińskiego, inną formę mogłoby mieć zakończenie dramatycznej historii życia Nieznajomej Kobiety opisanej na kartach Sporu o istnienie człowieka. Wspomniany list-wyznanie Nieznajomej Kobiety, Tischner przytacza jako egzemplifikację leibnizowskiej metafory monady z zatrzaśniętymi oknami. Na pytanie czy można je na nowo otworzyć, udziela negatywnej i na wskroś pesymistycznej odpowiedzi. Diagnoza Tischnera jest pozbawiona nadziei. Nie znajduje on bowiem takiej siły, która zdolna byłaby na nowo otworzyć zatrzaśnięte okna monady i przezwyciężyć egzystencjalny dramat Kobiety, której życie zdominował autodestrukcyjny schemat bycia-przeciw-sobie, stanowiący  ̶  jak się wydaje  ̶  utrwalony ślad dawnych bolesnych doświadczeń. Tischner, odwołując się do filozoficznej koncepcji substytucji Lévinasa, próbuje ów dramat zatrzaśniętych okien monady przezwyciężyć poprzez uwznioślającą teologizację egzystencji człowieka. Jest to propozycja podjęcia cierpienia na sposób mesjański. Moim zdaniem jest ona chybiona i nieskuteczna. Nadzieję na ponowne otwarcie okien monady i uleczenie tragicznej historii życia Nieznajomej Kobiety mogą przynieść uzdrawiające spotkanie i relacja, jako doświadczenia korektywne dostępne właśnie na drodze psychoterapii.

In his book The Controversy Over the Existence of Man, Tischner cites a letter from a “Stranger Woman”. It provides a metaphor for a closed monad, incapable of a profound encounter. Tischner asks: can the windows of this monad be opened? He gives a negative answer. His diagnosis is devoid of hope for the recovery of man’s inner freedom. In my opinion, the only hope for reopening the windows of the monad and healing the tragic life story of the “Stranger Woman” can come from a psychotherapy. Tischner’s anthropological perspective seems to be insufficient and unsatisfactory. The inclusion of a psychotherapeutic perspective is justified by the kinship between Tischner’s philosophy and Kępiński’s humanistic-existential psychiatry.

Jeśli istnieją słowa, które dla rozwoju Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej w ostatnich dziesięcioleciach można uznać za kluczowe, to słowo „solidarność” z pewnością do nich należy. Nie tylko dlatego, że stało się ono symbolem ruchu społecznego i związku zawodowego, który przyczynił się do zmian społeczno-politycznych skutkujących upadkiem komunizmu. Istnieje także mniej oczywisty powód, dla którego termin „solidarność” określa specyfikę tej części kontynentu. Jest nim jego zabarwienie znaczeniowe, odmienne od tych, które przypisuje się mu w historii idei zachodniej Europy, a związane z budową alternatywnych form spontanicznego wsparcia i kooperacji, które stawały się kluczem do budowy społeczeństwa obywatelskiego.

W niniejszym artykule proponuję prześledzenie kilku wybranych i zazwyczaj mało znanych albo też zapomnianych tekstów, istotnych dla narodzin idei solidarności, jak też jej późniejszego roz- woju w Europie Środkowo-Wschodniej, by na końcu zapytać o współczesną kondycję społeczeństw, poszukujących nowych form solidarności. W przeciwieństwie bowiem do klasyków myśli solidarnościowej, takich jak Émile Durkheim, Max Scheler, Talcott Parsons czy Richard Rorty, w twórczości francuskich solidarystów pokroju Léona Bourgeois czy też wschodnioeuropejskich działaczy opozycyjnych, takich jak Jan Patočka, Václav Havel i Józef Tischner, idea solidarności naznaczona i poświadczona została szczególnie silnie biografiami samych autorów i ich uczestnictwem w społecznych przeobrażeniach świata, w którym żyli.

Solidarity, Anti-politics and the Loss of Trust. The Rise and Fall of the Soli- darity Ethos. The word “solidarity” is one of the key words for the development of Central and Eastern Europe. Not only because it has become a symbol of the social movement and the trade union, which has contributed to the socio-political changes resulting in the collapse of communism. There is also a less obvious reason why the term “solidarity” determines the specificity of this part of the continent. It has a meaning associated with the construction of alternative forms of spontaneous support and cooperation, which is key to the development of civil society. The story of co-existence is a story of two shores. On one shore
we help the Other, breaching our own rules and limitations.
We prepare legal and systematic tools. On the other shore,
though, these are not enough. The challenge there comes not
only from the others but also increasingly from those who
have not been included in the process of society’s opening up
to the world, and instead have become more radical, enforcing
the borders of their national and cultural identities.

Das Hauptanliegen dieses Aufsatzes ist die soziale Veränderung zu analysieren, die in Polen während der Solidarnosc-Bewegung stattfindet und dadurch auf die wesentliche Rolle der alltäglichen zwischenmenschlichen Verhältnisse für die Veränderungen des politischen Lebens zu verweisen. Als Beispiel für die Analyse der Politik des Alltagslebens sind die Aufsätze von Józef Tischner hilfreich. Als Schüler des polnischen Phänomenologen Roman Ingardens, kommentiert Tischner in seinen Texten die moralische Unruhe der damaligen Zeit. Tischners Kommentar zu den Ereignissen aus den Zeiten des Umbruchs vom 1980 wird dann als Etyka Solidarności (Ethik der Solidarität) bekannt.

Józef Tischner’s works are mostly known in reference to his philosophy of axiology and agatology. There are just few papers about his idea of work and labor, and consequently less about “working on the land” (as it is sometimes referred to in the 1984 English edition of The Spirit of Solidarity), or “working the soil”. Working on the land, tending the land, working the soil – only partially reflect the significance of Polish term “gospodarowanie”. There is no adequate English term for Polish original. The lack of Józef Tischners translations to English, made this research little harder. Nonetheless I will try to outline his concept of earth and dialogical relation with it described originally as “gospodarowanie”. By exploring Tischner’s works, his different approaches to this subject, I decided to abandon the traditional term “tending the land” from the 1984 translation of The Spirit of Solidarity (Etyka Solidarności) and replace it with “husbandry”. The first most elaborate work of Tischner about husbandry is the chapter titled “Husbandry” in Etyka Solidarności, but we can find this topic in most of his writings regarding men’s work. In The Spirit of Solidarity from 1984, Marek B. Zaleski’s translation of Etyka Solidarności (from here now on, I will use The Ethics of Solidarity – in opposition to the 1984 translation), the term “husbandry” was not used even once, and “gospodarowanie” was translated as “tending the land”, “working on the land”, “farming”, “crafting” or just “work of farmer” which is definitely insufficient and can be much more misguiding when referring to The Philosophy of Drama. In this philosophical opus magnum from 1990 there is a new approach to husbandry – which actually shows a way to understand his concept of earth as a stage of drama, and husbandry – as a form of dialogue, which occurs between people within axiological space. But this idea of earth, which does not regard it as a product, and land as property (which can be fully exploited) is almost forgotten in (post)industrial and modern society which treats every aspect of nature in the terms of resourcefulness. In the Tischner’s philosophy of drama such state (reification of earth) is considered as pathology, where the axiological relations are disturbed. So to speak: to understand the concept of Earth and the relation with it (understood as work, and specifically – husbandry) one has to maintain intertextual approach.

The article examines the question of the Mariological interpretation of the eight beatitudes contained in Matt 5:3-10. Christian theologians of all ages, from Clement of Alexandria to the authors of contemporary biblical commentaries, have proposed various interpretations of this biblical text. Among the multitude of interpretations developed throughout history, the Mariological aspect appears quite rarely. Yet, as Pope Benedict XVI observes, the very biblical Marian title "Blessed" should direct the theological thought to the Mariological aspects of this issue. In modern times, a very deep reflection on the subject was conducted by two great theologians of the XX century, J. Ratzinger (Benedict XVI) and H.U. von Balthasar. On the Polish ground, the task was partly undertaken by J. Tischner, who elaborated the theme of eight beatitudes in the key of the Marian pilgrimage of the nation. The present work is meant to deepen the Mariological-biblical analysis of the eight beatitudes and revive the discussion regarding this subject in the perspective proposed by Benedict XVI, to understand the beatitudes as a program of life for a modern Christian.

W pracy przedstawiono zagadnienia związane z filozoficzną koncepcją spotkania z drugim człowiekiem tworzone przez polskich filozofów na przełomie XX i XXI wieku w nurcie dialogiczno-fenomenologicznym. Powstanie i rozwój rodzimej filozofii spotkania zostały zarysowane na tle XX-wiecznego myślenia dialogicznego i jego recepcji w Polsce, a także ogólnych zagadnień związanych z zastosowaniem metody fenomenologicznej w badaniach nad intersubiektywnością. Szczegółowej analizie została poddana myśl filozoficzna Józefa Tischnera, Adama Węgrzeckiego i Jerzego Bukowskiego, którzy począwszy od końca lat 70-tych ubiegłego stulecia rozwijali własne oryginalne koncepcje spotkania. Antropologiczna perspektywa rozumienia fenomenu spotkania z Drugim została w niniejszej pracy dopełniona i rozwinięta w perspektywie psychoterapeutycznej. Celem pracy było ukazanie specyfiki fenomenologicznych analiz spotkania ‘twarzą w twarz’ w polskiej filozofii przełomu wieków.

About the Civil Disobedience
This paper presents the concept of civil disobedience understood as a moral, public, and collective act of solidarity. The reminder of the paper is organized in three parts. First, the author analyses some classical philosophical thesis that are essential for a positive argument of disobedience: Civil disobedience should be a critique and negation of the in just interpretation of law, not a negation of the law (the idea of law) itself. In order to accomplish this goal, the author draws on Socrates’ explication about Law versus Justice, Aristotelian notion of megalopsychia, and Kant’s ideas of human dignity and an autonomous will. This analysis provides grounds for the idea that civil disobedience serves to protect and realize values, and thus it means taking (care) of law. In other words, such notion of civil disobedience means taking law (e.g. the power of decision and exercise) away from institutions and persons that interpret and exercise law in the unjust way. The second part of this paper pertains to acts of civil disobedience. After presenting three examples of disobedience that are representative of the twentieth century (Transvaal 1907–1913; Sicily 1952–1962; Philippines in February 1986), the author formulates principles of civil disobedience. This perspective allows her to call a disobedience act a rebellion of conscience (following the work of Józef Tischner). The third part consists of a polemic with John Rawls’ definition and criticism of civil disobedience. The author uses Rawls’ notion of fairness to show that civil disobedience, can be seen as fairness in the public sphere.

The twenty-first century was born earlier than the calendar might suggest. A sentimental millenarism, filled with an illusory sense of a "breakthrough", effectively overshadowed some radical processes that took place as early as around 1980. It was back then that the twenty-first century brought its virtuosos on stage-persons who, in political and spiritual order, opened up new horizons of thinking and action. It is surprising that the processes and events which these characters triggered, or on which they have left their significant mark, begin almost simultaneously. A significant part of the changes culminated on 4 June 1989. The importance of the Solidarity movement and the fall of communism in Central and Eastern Europe is still difficult to understand without an outline of these epochal changes. In the first part of this essay we will therefore explain the large significance of the time around 1980 and the role of the revolution of the Solidarity trade union movement in the transformations that took place then. In the second part, we will focus on the consequences of the disintegration of the political status quo and of the birth of a new political order in 1989, the importance of which seems to have fallen into oblivion today.

Europa przypomina coraz bardziej wioskę z filmu Wernera Herzoga „Szklane serce”, w której utracono tajemnicę konstytuującą życie mieszkańców, a prorocy wieszczą nadejście końca świata. Rozpaczliwie poszukujemy kozła ofiarnego, pod ręką mając imigrantów i podejrzliwie spoglądając na muzułmanów. Nie zbudujemy racjonalnego gruntu dla przyszłości okopując się na własnym brzegu. Zdaniem Krzysztofa Czyżewskiego, możemy tego dokonać jedynie wspólnie z innymi, obejmując tu i teraz całe sąsiedztwo i udzielając gościny. W tym stwierdzeniu nie chodzi o doraźne uzasadnienie potrzeby zmierzenia się z wielką falą przychodźców, która wywołała europejski kryzys. Chodzi o odwieczną tajemnicę wspólnoty, która ustanawia się w pełni tylko dzięki obecności obcego. Dlatego „obcowanie”.

Artykuł jest analizą sposobu, w jaki funkcjonuje w filozofii dramatu Józefa Tischnera pojęcie uczestnictwa. Wychodzę od stwierdzenia, że jest to podstawowe pojęcie tej filozofii. Za jego pomocą Tischner podaje dwa podstawowe znaczenia dramatu, a następnie bardzo często używa tego pojęcia. W mojej analizie obserwuję, w jaki sposób Tischner je stosuje, badam, kto uczestniczy i w czym, a także odtwarzam struktury tego uczestnictwa. W efekcie ujawnia się, że specyficzne rozumienie „uczestnictwa” powiązane jest z innymi podstawowymi pojęciami tej filozofii, np. ze wzajemnością czy horyzontem. Ujawnia się także – co jest sporym zaskoczeniem – egologiczny komponent filozofii dramatu.

The article presents a model of personalist biography that stands in opposition to the postmodernist one. The personalist biography model refers in terms of anthropology to Viktor E. Frankl, the founder of logotherapy (‘Third Viennese School of Psychotherapy’) and the key thinkers of the personalist movement: Karol Wojtyła, Mieczysław Krąpiec, Józef Tischner and Czesław S. Bartnik. Stressing the subjective aspect of biography, the personalist model allows for capturing the personal character of the created biographical portrait of a given person while also taking into account the postulates formed by the critics of biographical writing in its traditional and later structuralist forms, especially the postulates related to the requirement of biographer’s objectivity and neutrality. The personalist biography model also takes into consideration the insights of the French theorists on the inevitable involvement of the researcher in the reconstructed picture of a life and the considerations on the character of representation (by F. Ankersmit and M. P. Markowski).

If key terms exist to describe the development of Central and Eastern Europe over the past decades, then ‘solidarity’ is certainly one of them. And not only for the reason that ‘solidarity’ has become a symbol of the social and labour union movements in Poland which contributed to the sociopolitical changes that led to the collapse of communism. After all, there is also a less obvious reason why the term ‘solidarity’ so uniquely describes this part of the continent – namely, a singular connotation distinct from the meanings generally ascribed to ‘solidarity’ in the history of ideas in Western Europe. For in Central and Eastern Europe ‘solidarity’ is associated with the building of alternative forms of spontaneous support and cooperation, forms which became crucial to the civil society that is under construction. Indeed, it is astounding that, following World War II, the communist ideology of the countries of Central and Eastern Europe did not make effective use of the term ‘solidarity’. Somehow even the natural connotation with Marxism and the labour movement from the early twentieth century did not help. ‘Solidarity’ did, however, become a core idea both in the coalescence of oppositionist culture and in laying out the paths for the opposition’s development in the form of social movements. Since the 1980s, the meaning of Polish Solidarity has influenced – in a special manner – intellectual discourse in social theory of the Western world. After many years of absence, the term ‘solidarity’ again started to play a role of a crucial point of reference in our interpretations of the modern human condition.

Zainteresowanie filozofią dialogu oraz fenomenologią spotkania cieszy się dużym zainteresowaniem, a wypracowane idee wsiąkły do krwioobiegu polskiej filozofii. Nadzieją napawają prace młodego pokolenia krakowskich filozofów skupionych wokół Instytutu Myśli Józefa Tischnera: Adama Hernasa i Dobrosława Kota. Twórczo rozwijają oni myślenie pierwszego pokolenia polskich dialogików i tworzą własne opisy fenomenologiczne: bliskości (Hernas) i utraty/rozstania (Kot). Bez wątpienia stanowią one nowe otwarcie w polskiej filozofii spotkania i dialogu.
