En  nuestro  país  es  necesaria una reȑexión técnica sobre los  parámetros  para  el  resguardo digno de cuerpos en reducción esquelética, lo que resulta imperante en  la  actualidad  ante  la  creciente necesidad de las labores de investigación e identi6cación forense.
En  consecuencia,  gracias  a  la colaboración  interinstitucional  y multidisciplinaria mostramos los lineamientos para la creación de un espacio de resguardo digno de cuerpos  en  reducción  esquelética,  que cuenten con parámetros estandarizados para el espacio físico, embalaje y  almacenamiento, etiquetado, información  y  base  de  datos,  control interno, área de entrega-recepción  e  indicadores  de  evaluación para
desarrollar  prácticas  de  resguardo humanitarias.

This article aims to characterise the changes in the development of the eastern
part of the Second Outer Bailey at Człuchów in the early modern era. Although
the analysed part of Człuchów castle had an auxiliary function to the central part
of the fortress, it played an important role because the buildings of monastic administration
were located here and due to communication with other parts of the
castle. This function changed in early modern times.

W 2020 i 2021 r. prowadzone były prace archeologiczne, w wyniku których pozyskano zespół różnych form detalu architektonicznego. W 2020 r.  wykonano wykop na międzymurzu zachodnim – przy murze obronnym ciągnącym się wzdłuż Nogatu. Wydzielono w nim sekwencje nawarstwień pochodzących z początków budowy zamku, naniesionych podczas budowy przedzamcza (sypania grobli), funkcjonowania terenu od średniowiecza do nowożytności, istnienia w tym miejscu domów w XVIII-XIX w. i ich rozbiórki. Detal pochodził z różnego kontekstu nawarstwień – zarówno z poziomów średniowiecznych, pochodzących z czasu budowy zamku, jak i nowożytnych i współczesnych. Jest to cegła sklepienna, wielkoformatowa cegła fazowana jak i mniejsza – dwustronnie fazowana. W zespole znajduje się też częściowo zachowana profilowana kształtka ościeżnicowa jak i elementy służek oraz kształtki żebrowe. Detal ten po części, jak elementy ceramicznych maswerków, łączyć można z przebudowywanym w latach 30-40. XIV w. pierwotnym kościołem zamkowym, a do nasypu trafił podczas toczących się wówczas prac budowlanych. Inne fragmenty, jak elementy służek, które można łączyć z rozbudowanym kościołem NMP, trafił w badane miejsce w XX w. – w wyniku prac porządkowych po zniszczeniach wojennych. W zbiorze znajdują się nadto fragmenty czworobocznych płytek posadzkowych. Są to zarówno egzemplarze ze szkliwem (zielonym, brązowym i żółtym) jak i go pozbawione. Pozyskano tez fragmenty dachówek średniowiecznych i nowożytnych. Na uwagę zasługują przede wszystkim elementy egzemplarzy wielkoformatowych, jak i szkliwionych. Mniejszy zespół detalu pochodzi z nadzoru archeologicznego, prowadzonego w końcu 2021 r. przy budynkach przedzamcza. Zawiera on cegłę z profilem ćwierćłuku, kształtkę ościeżnicową, dwie formy cegieł fazowanych oraz fragment płytki posadzkowej z żółtym szkliwem. Opisany zespół detalu reprezentuje przede wszystkim standardowe formy, ale także warte większej uwagi, jak fragmenty ceramicznych maswerków, czy szkliwionych jak i wielkoformatowych dachówek.

At the end of the 15 th century, chroniclers throughout Western Europe reported the arrival of strange brown-skinned people, wearing unfamiliar clothing and speaking a foreign language. These foreigners posed as Christians and claimed to come from Egypt. They soon scattered to all European countries. The earliest records show that the first groups aroused great sympathy among the native population; but the more numerous they became, the more the original curiosity and goodwill towards the nomads faded in the eyes of the settled population. Familiar images and stereotypes are found in the descriptions of nomadic groups in the chronicles dating from as early as the 15 th century. Gypsies, for example, are said to be plagued by an uncontrollable wanderlust. The construction of and response to natural vagrancy in those parts of Europe that experienced the transition from feudalism to capitalism suggests that the development of the "internal outsider" was an important part of the construction of a settled European identity. The work ethic, the morality of property, and civilisation were demarcated as different from the nomads. On the other hand, the emergence of the work ethic went hand in hand with the denigration of those nomads, who seemed to reject it and thus posed a threat to its legitimacy. The constant repetition of negative images and suspicions against members of migrant groups fuelled resentment and indelible hatred. This, in turn, led to demands for stricter measures against the group; but those were never and nowhere clearly defined. Legislators responded to these demands by legalising prejudice and superstition. The persecution of the Gypsies led to a self-fulfilling prophecy. The

Archaeological sites of Central Asia contain evidence of the post-mortem
skull trepanation. This tradition was also common for the Tashtyk culture population and their burial grounds. All available craniological samples from the Oglakhty cemetery, stored in different museums of Russia, were studied. First sex and age characteristics were determined for all individuals. Second, location on the skull and size of trepanations were recorded. Third, post-mortem trepanations were analyzed using a combination of archaeological traceology and forensic techniques.
29 crania were examined, 21 of them with trepanations. 19 were analyzed using the traceological methods. The majority of trepanations were located in the occipital region with two exceptions only in the temporoparietal region and the parietal part. Special group of the occipital trepanations which occupy the large oval aperture were singledout. We suggest to call them "deep trepanations". The main technique for all studied post-mortem is cutting through, followed by breaking a fragment of the scull in or out. Once a combination of cutting and carving techniques was recorded. All trepanations were carried out using a chisel with a straight blade. The human body might be placed on its stomach. Of special importance is the fact that there are clear traces of smoothing on the edges of some holes which are rather sings of additional manipulations with the heads than just result of removing the brain. The only possible case of antemortem trepanation was made by drilling. Post-mortem Tashtyk trepanations could be technologically related to those of the Tes culture population.

Background/Aims: True gigantism is an exceptional and fascinating pediatric disease. Our aim in this study was to describe the different etiologies of a large group of children with gigantism and the natural history of their growth. Methods: In this multicenter study, we considered as giant children, adolescents and adults whose heights were ≥3 SD compared to their target stature or to our population average lengths. Isolated hypogonadism and Klinefelter syndrome were excluded from this series. All underwent clinical exam, and hormonal and neurological investigations. Results: From 1980 to 2010, we observed 30 giants: 26 males (86.6%) and 4 females (mean age 19.8 ± 11 years). Among the 13 patients (40.3%) who consulted before the age of 16 years, 9 had acromegaly and 6 had mental retardation and body malformations. Recent studies show that, in the 3rd millennium BC, the highlands in the basin of the upper reaches of the Khovd (Kobdo) River constituted a ritual zone, which was of particular importance for the population inhabiting the western foothills of the Mongolian Altai Mountains. Its cultural singularity was due to the so-called Chemurchek cultural phenomenon — a set of characteristics of West European origin, which appeared there no later than 2700–2600 BC. Three large-scale ritual complexes-‘shrines’ attributed to this period were discovered in the area of Lake Dayan Nuur. Excavations conducted by the expedition of A.A. Kovalev and Ch. Munkhbayar revealed that these structures constituted fences consisting of vertical stone slabs, decorated all-over on the outside with the images of fantastic anthropomorphic creatures and animals. The primal discipline from which pharmacy has developed can be considered as pharmacognosy. This review defines pharmacognosy while reflecting on the latest development and discourse about its justifiability in the educational system in pharmaceutical faculties and the history of development of new drugs under the influence of pharmacognosy. The article defines the status quo of the pharmacognosy area, or more precisely its parts (biology, chemistry, production, and technology) and discusses their connections. It underlines the legitimacy of application of natural drugs in therapy, which is undeniable, and proves that whether a new drug was prepared either synthetically or isolated from a natural source is not important. Introduction. Russian-Indian Anthropological expedition was organized in 2019 by Paleoethnology Research Center (Russia), Timiryazev State Museum of Biology (Russia) and Department of Anthropology University of Calcutta (India). The goal was to examine the peoples of Tripura state, North-East India. Data and methods. About 350 individuals from eight different locations next to Agartala were examined. Currently there are 19 tribes in Tripura, Tripuri being one of them. The most common Tripuri’s surname is Debbarma. During the research 254 Debbarmas were examined, among them 106 individuals were children and teenagers (58 male and 48 female), and 148 individuals were older than 17 years (76 male and 72 female). The work presents the results of the anthropological and paleopathological analysis carried out on human skeletal remains of an individual (T-173) found in a burial from the necropolis "sector 96", Messina, Sicily, dating back to the Roman Empire (1 st century BCE-1 st century CE). The study aimed to acquire the information necessary for the reconstruction of the biological profi le. In fact, T173 is an adult male which is particularly interesting from a paleopathological point of view, showing skeletal anomalies from the cranial to the post-cranial skeleton probably caused by variations of genetic, neoplastic, articular and dental nature. Furthermore, the analyses have highlighted the possible cause of death, related to two perimortem traumatic lesions on parietal bones.

The article develops a topic rarely discussed in the literature – osteitis pubis, identified in the old adult man buried in feature 41 of the Hoisești‑Fântâna Maiorului necropolis in Iași County. The skeleton is partially represented and well preserved. The following pathologies were registered: periodontitis, degenerative osteoarthritis, thoracic intervertebral hernia, and cartilage ossification. Musculoskeletal stress markers are present on all bones involved in the movement. In the pubic area, the coxal bones are obliterated, completely ossified, and ankylosed. We have an extreme case of osteitis pubis, probably of post‑traumatic origin, developed bilaterally, characterized by osteoblastic reactions of the symphysis region, erosion, and subchondral sclerosis, the formation of proliferative bone outgrowths and oversizing and porosity in the peripubic area. These changes correlate perfectly with old biological age, degenerative osteoarthritis, vertebral hernia, and enthesopathic changes. Changes in the pubic symphysis area indicate multidirectional acceleration‑deceleration movements involving continuous shearing of the lower limbs. Most likely, in feature 41 was buried the “runner” of the Hoisești medieval community, who was immovable, despite his skeletal robustness and highly developed muscles. This man’s lifestyle and daily activities were under extreme musculoskeletal stress, most likely favoring a localized trauma to the pubic symphysis region, which subsequently led to post‑traumatic complications and extreme stage ankylosis. Other conditions that can cause such peripubic changes are rheumatoid arthritis, spondylarthrosis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, diffuse idiopathic skeletal hyperostosis, or pubic osteomyelitis.

Praca porusza kwestię powstawania i ujawniania śladów różnych materiałów na najbardziej typowych powierzchniach: plastiku, metalu, papierze, drewnie oraz szkle. W pierwszej części zostało zdefiniowane pojęcie gantiskopii oraz podana typologia w materiałoznawstwie z uwzględnieniem materiałów wykorzystywanych do produkcji rękawiczek. Celem badania było ustalenie wpływu materiału i podłoża na powstały ślad, a także wskazanie generalnych zależności między śladami pozostawionymi przez poszczególne grupy materiałów: naturalnych, sztucznych i syntetycznych na wybranych powierzchniach. Praca prezentuje wyniki własnych badań eksperymentalnych, które zilustrowano fotografiami śladów różnych materiałów wraz z oceną otrzymanych odbitek ze wskazaniem na cechy indywidualne i grupowe.

[PL] Wśród licznego materiału zabytkowego pozyskanego w czasie ratowniczych badań na grodzisku w Bestwinie w 1971 roku znalazły się także zabytki skórzane, które dotąd nie zostały należycie opracowane i opublikowane. Jest to łącznie 19 fragmentów skórzanych, spośród których można rekonstruować dwa niemal pełne egzemplarze obuwia. Ponieważ w trakcie badań średniowiecznych siedzib rycerskich przedmioty skórzane są dość rzadko odkrywane zbiór ten jest tym cenniejszy. Analiza pozwoliła ustalić, że w przypadku obuwia mamy do czynienia z wyrobem miejskiego rzemiosła dystrybuowanym w czasie jarmarku, odpowiadającym modzie z XIV i początków XV wieku, przeznaczonym dla zamożniejszych mieszkańców grodu w Bestwinie, najpewniej członków rodziny właściciela rezydencji lub jego najbliższego otoczenia. Natomiast luźne elementy i skórzane ścinki sugerują, że jednocześnie na stanowisku prowadzone były drobne prace skórnicze, polegające na odzyskiwaniu surowca zdatnego do dalszego użycia w charakterze łat lub do produkcji prostszych wyrobów, wykonywane najpewniej przez czeladź dworską. Odkryte zabytki pozwoliły zatem wnioskować na temat ubioru mieszkańców dworu, źródeł ich zaopatrywania w wyroby, a także istnienia drobnego rzemiosła w średniowiecznej rezydencji rycerskiej.

[ENG] Among numerous materials that were obtained in the course of rescue excavations at the stronghold in Bestwina in 1971 there were also leather finds. These have not been properly processed and published so far. The assemblage includes 19 leather fragments altogether, among which two almost complete shoes can be reconstructed. This collection is especially valuable, as leather artefacts are rather rarely found in the course of excavations of medieval knightly residences. On the basis of examinations it was found out that in the case of shoes we were dealing with products of urban handicraft which were distributed in the course of a fair. These shoes matched 14th and early 15th c. fashion and were intended for richer inhabitants of the Bestwina stronghold, in all probability for family members or the closest entourage of the residence owner. On the other hand, loose parts and leather scraps imply that in the same time minor leatherworking activities were taking place at the site. These activities consisted in recovering raw material that could be further used as patches or for making simpler products. These works were in all probability conducted by court servants. Therefore, the discovered artefacts allowed for drawing conclusions on the dress of court inhabitants, their sources of acquisition of artefacts and on the existence of small-scale handicraft in a medieval knightly residence.

Mimo wieloletnich badań oraz niewątpliwych osiągnięć historii sztuki, ustalenie lub też uściślenie czasu powstania wielu średniowiecznych budowli wciąż pozostaje aktualnym i podstawowym postulatem badawczym. Wyjątku nie stanowią tu także tereny dawnych Prus Zakonnych, jak również interesujące nas terytorium dominium warmińskiego. Wpływ na ten stan rzeczy ma oczywiście zróżnicowany stopień zachowania oryginalnej substancji zabytkowej budowli średniowiecznych, a także szczątkowy stopień zachowania oryginalnych dokumentów źródłowych, zwłaszcza w odniesieniu do ziem zakonnych w Prusach. Z tego względu w kwestii datowania zabytków architektury średniowiecznej – a więc kwestii podstawowej dla prawidłowego ustalenia ciągów chronologicznych i typologicznych oraz opracowania syntez i charakterystyki regionu – niezmiennie niezwykle istotne znaczenie ma prowadzenie planowych i metodycznych badań historyczno-architektonicznych oraz badań konserwatorskich.
Na początku XV wieku diecezja warmińska wyróżniała się liczbą parafii – w tym czasie na jej terenie istniało 286 kościołów parafialnych (251 wiejskich i 35 miejskich). Na obszarze samego dominium kościelnego (władztwa biskupa i kapituły, czyli historycznej Warmii) istniały 103 kościoły parafialne, z których w pierwotnej niemal formie zachowała się blisko połowa. Liczne gotyckie kościoły i zamki, wznoszone na terenie dominium warmińskiego od końca XIII, w XIV, XV i XVI stuleciu, zachowały do czasów współczesnych w swej strukturze często jeszcze pierwotne, średniowieczne więźby dachowe – w przeważającej większości dotychczas nierozpoznane naukowo, a jednocześnie będące ważnym źródłem wielu informacji o podstawowym znaczeniu w badaniach średniowiecznej architektury w dawnych Prusach.
Problematyka datacji zachowanych struktur budowlanych średniowiecznych świątyń warmińskich, jak i szerzej – pruskich, nadal wymaga krytycznego omówienia oraz przeprowadzenia nowych analiz ze względu na fakt, że wciąż niewiele gotyckich obiektów z zachowanymi oryginalnymi konstrukcjami ciesielskimi posiada wyniki badań historyczno-architektonicznych i dendrochronologicznych, co skutkuje bardzo ogólnym i nierzadko rozbieżnym datowaniem wielu budowli w literaturze przedmiotu. Dotyczy to zwłaszcza mniejszych świątyń wiejskich, wciąż wymagających nierzadko poważnej weryfikacji pod kątem określenia czasu powstania zachowanych struktur budowlanych.

The grave from Fîrlădeni-La Văleanu (Căușeni District, Republic of Moldova), which is part of a still unexplored medieval necropolis, was discovered in 2015 and dated, according to the funeral ritual, in the 17th-18th centuries CE. The skeleton belongs to a female, with a biological age at death of approx. 17-18 years. Biomorphometric characteristics indicate Europoid and Mongoloid phenotypic features. The analysis of the dentition revealed several dental anomalies, and among the indicators of physiological stress, the linear enamel hypoplasia. Cribra cranii, cribra orbitalia, and periosteal changes/reactions on some limb bones diaphyses have been identified. Regarding the occupational indicators, we mention the septal aperture on the humeri and the squatting facets on the tibiae. On the coxae is well marked the preauricular sulcus, which is type 3 to 4. The detail that makes this discovery special is the presence of skeletal remains from another unborn individual, a foetus with an intrauterine age between 5-7 months. No pathologies or abnormalities visible to the naked eye were identified on the skeletal elements of this unborn child. For the Prut-Dniester area, the discovery from Fîrlădeni-La Văleanu is the first case of a pregnant woman discovered in an archaeological context and anthropologically documented.
