Objective: The purpose of this evaluation was to evaluate the causes and costs of slips, trips, and falls (STFs) in a helicopter manufacturing plant. Background: STFs are a significant portion of the total industry injury burden. Method: For this study, 4,070 helicopter plant workers who were employed from January 1, 2004, through February 28, 2008, were enrolled. Company records on workers’ compensation claims, occupational health first report of injury, and payroll records on hours worked were collected. Cause and source of all injuries, including STFs, were coded for analysis. Results: During the 4-year study period, there were 2,378 injuries and 226 STFs (46 falls [20%] to a lower level, 117 [52%] falls on the same level, 41 [18%] from loss of balance without a fall, and 22 [10%] from other events). Most policymaking attention with respect to intellectual property barriers toCOVID-19 prevention, treatment and containment has been focused on patents.This focus is reflected in the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Ministerial Decisionon the TRIPS Agreement, adopted on 17 June 2022, which provides a limited waiverof TRIPS rules on compulsory licences for production of COVID-19 vaccines. Theoriginal WTO proposal for a TRIPS waiver, however, explicitly applied to all formsof intellectual property, including copyright. This article outlines the numerous waysin which copyright can create barriers to addressing COVID-19. It also provides adescription of international copyright treaty provisions that permit uses of copyrightmaterials in response to the barriers identified, despite the exclusion of copyrightfrom the final TRIPS waiver.

Thailand has expressed interest in joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), an 11-country plurilateral trade agreement whose original incarnation included the United States of America (USA). When the USA withdrew from this agreement, key intellectual property clauses relevant to pharmaceuticals were suspended. These could be reinstated should the USA decide to re-join. Recent studies on the export effects of domestic intellectual property rights protection focus on the innovation, border and technology transfer channels to underscore the pathways by which effective domestic IPRs protection influences own country's export. I extend this literature by arguing that another pathway domestic IPRs protection affects own country's export is via the credit channel i.e. firms access to external finance. Among many others, this occurs because effective domestic IPRs protection creates a scenario wherein exporters can use their intellectual properties in the same way they use tangible assets as collateral in order to overcome the huge variable and upfront fixed costs they face. El gladiolo es la ornamental de mayor superficie sembrada en México, su flor se comercializa durante todo el año, aunque en fechas específicas como el día del padre y el día de muertos presenta fuerte demanda. Sus principales problemas fitosanitarios son trips, mosquita blanca, roya y secamiento. Los trips son considerados la plaga más limitante por los fuertes daños que ocasionan a la calidad de la flor, generan pérdidas económicas aunadas a la fuerte inversión que implica su control. El objetivo del trabajo fue determinar el comportamiento espacial y temporal de Thrips simplex (Morison, 1930) en parcelas comerciales de gladiolo de la variedad roja borrega. The paper examines the trends in exports, imports, R&D performance and patenting activities in regard of Indian drug and pharmaceutical industry for the period 2000-2012. Although most of the analysis, drawing upon different databases, is of descriptive nature, it also estimates functional relationship between exports as dependent variable and patents granted and R&D expenditure as independent variables. The study found that lagged R&D expenditure and lagged total patents granted affect exports positively and significantly. It suggests encouragement to public-private R&D partnership in the realm of basic and applied research, which could be commercially harnessed by the interested private sector partner(s).

Hevea brasiliensis es la especie de mayor importancia económica del género Hevea, de la cual se obtiene 99 % de la producción mundial de hule natural. En México, durante 2018 se registró una producción total de 75 922 toneladas que se obtuvieron de 28 172 ha plantadas en cinco estados: Chiapas, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Veracruz y Puebla. De ellos, Veracruz ocupa el primer lugar, con 66 % de la producción. Las enfermedades en el árbol del hule afectan la óptima producción de látex en todo el mundo. In the age of digital globalization, protecting Domain Names as trademarks in India has become a complex legal and regulatory challenge. With a focus on the roles played by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the ongoing issue of cybersquatting, and the changing judicial endeavors within the Indian legal system, this abstract offers a succinct overview of the critical analysis of this complex issue. The protection of Domain Names as trademarks in India is significantly influenced by ICANN, the International Organization in charge of regulating the domain name system. This study looks at how ICANN's policies and procedures affect Domain Name registration, management, and dispute resolution, as well as how these international standards interact with India's domestic trademark laws.
