Dzieje Wielkopolski epoki przedrozbiorowej pełne są wybitnych postaci i wspaniałych karier. Wielu z bohaterów swoje sukcesy i sławę zawdzięczało, oprócz własnych zdolności, również spuściźnie po wybitnych i zamożnych przodkach. Liczne jest jednak grono takich, którzy własną pracą, zdolnościami i szczęściem potrafili wyrwać się z nizin dość licznego stanu szlacheckiego i w przeciągu jednego pokolenia osiągnąć niebywały awans, co więcej, zabezpieczyć pozycję rodziny dla kolejnych generacji. Bez wątpienia do takich przypadków należy los Aleksandra Mikołaja Gorzeńskiego herbu Nałęcz. Postać to tym bardziej nietuzinkowa, że po rozległej działalności politycznej i samorządowej w Wielkopolsce pierwszych dziesięcioleci XVIII w., potrafił przejść do stanu duchownego (po śmierci żony, posiadając liczne potomstwo) i kontynuować nie mniej pełną sukcesów karierę. Być może właśnie ten krok zadecydował o tym, że udało się Aleksandrowi Gorzeńskiemu przerwać ciążące nad wieloma jego przodkami fatum licznego potomstwa, dzielącego na drobne kawałki skromny spadek po rodzicach. Jego dzieci miały mieć łatwiejszy start. Zapewne dopomógł także szczęśliwy los.

Z wprowadzenia: Współczesne polskie poradnictwo psychologiczno-pedagogiczne funkcjonuje w oparciu o sieć poradni psychologiczno-pedagogicznych, w ramach systemu pomocy psychologiczno-pedagogicznej zorganizowanej przez resort oświaty. Zanim jednak instytucje poradni uzyskały swój obecny kształt i przyjęły nazwę „psychologiczno-pedagogiczne”, działały jako poradnie wychowawczo-zawodowe, a jeszcze wcześniej jako dwie odrębne formy: poradnie psychologiczno-zawodowe i poradnie społeczno-wychowawcze. Przez minione lata bardzo wiele zmieniło się w poradnictwie psychologiczno-pedagogicznym. Wiedza na temat sposobu organizacji, struktury, zadań, zasad i efektywności działań w poszczególnych poradniach warta jest upowszechnienia. Jej opracowanie i udostępnienie szerszemu gronu ma głęboki sens, ponieważ opis i analiza funkcjonowania instytucji poradni w poszczególnych okresach mogą dać podstawy do opracowania wniosków i prognoz na przyszłość. Jak twierdzi Czesław Majorek: „nie ulega wątpliwości fakt, że każde zjawisko pedagogiczne doby współczesnej ma swoją tradycję, tło historyczne, czyli antecedencje w przeszłości. Jego zbadanie nie może zaczynać się i kończyć na dniu dzisiejszym, toteż potrzeba ukazania jego źródeł i genezy jest zazwyczaj nieodzowna”1. Dlatego podstawowym motywem zainteresowania autorki tematem był brak naukowego opracowania dziejów poradnictwa psychologiczno-pedagogicznego oraz brak uporządkowania spuścizny poradnictwa społeczno-wychowawczego, zwłaszcza w Wielkopolsce. Ogólnym celem podjętych badań była rekonstrukcja wielkopolskiego poradnictwa psychologiczno-pedagogicznego w omawianym okresie, a przygotowana na ten temat praca ma stanowić próbę wypełnienia luki w aktualnym stanie badań.

W przedstawionej Czytelnikowi książce fenomen Solidarności analizowany jest w wymiarze ogólnopolskim i regionalnym. Autorzy artykułów umieszczonych w części "Ogólnopolskie portrety Solidarności" dyskutują problemy i zagadnienia, które winny być przemyślane w konstrukcji syntetycznego ujęcia Solidarności. Do nich należą kwestie interpretacji solidarnościowej myśli i praktyki politycznej, międzynarodowe oddziaływanie ruchu związkowe czy miejsce Solidarności w pamięci historycznej. Artykuły zgromadzone w części "Wielkopolskie portrety Solidarności" przedstawiają lokalne i regionalne aspekty działalności Związku: aktywność zakładowych struktur związku, dyskusji nad ich kształtem oraz portrety regionalnych działaczy związkowych (np. Franciszka Langnera, Eligiusza Naszkowskiego, Karola Smoczkiewicza, czy Bogusława Śliwy) i kapelanów Solidarności (ks. Antoni Lassy).

Praca dotyczy dziejów ochotniczych straży pożarnych powiatu konińskiego (w jego historycznych granicach) w latach 1921-1939. Podstawą do jej opracowania stały się zapiski, informacje w lokalnym tygodniku "Głos Koniński", który ukazywał się właśnie w tym okresie. Książka składa się z dwóch części. W pierwszej znajdują się dzieje poszczególnych straży, orkiestr, sprawy związane z wyszkoleniem, działalnością artystyczną czy sportową. Część drugą stanowi katalog pożarów, które odnotowano na łamach analizowanego periodyku

Publikacja jest próbą ukazania form realizacji baroku na zachodzie Wielkopolski, za sprawą działalności opatów cysterskich klasztorów w Paradyżu i Bledzewie (Michała Józefa Gorczyńskieg i Józafa Loki) . Poszczególne rozdziały mają za zadanie omówić szczególną rolę obu klasztorów w okresie natężenia ruchu kontrreformacji i obu opatów, sprawców rozpowszechnienia stylu barokowego na terenach przynależnych klasztorom w Bledzewie i Paradyżu. W dalszych częściach zaprezentowano poszczególne obiekty ze wskazaniem przypuszczalnej atrybucji. Wymieniono artystów pracujących na zlecenia obu opatów, byli to twórcy pochodzący ze Śląska: architekt Karol Marcin Frantz, rzeźbiarze Johann Caspar, Johann Wilhelm i Christoph Hennevoglowie z Neuzelle oraz malarze Feliks Anton Scheffler i O. Florian Wunsch. Na koniec określono wymowę ideową dzieł oraz omówiono wpływ, jaki spowodowała aktywność obu cystersów, na obszary leżące w sąsiedztwie ziem klasztornych.

Do II rozbioru Polski (1793) wieś Wiejce znajdowała się w granicach Polski. Często przechodziła z rąk do rąk, a jej ostatnimi polskimi właścicielami była rodzina Kwileckich. Prawdopodobnie jednak już wtedy we wsi stała rezydencja, której obecny kształt został nadany podczas generalnej przebudowy z początku XX wieku. Właścicielem majątku był wtedy Aleksander Benningsen, syn Rudolfa, urzędnika w Afryce Wschodniej i Papui Nowej Gwinei. Do 1945 r. w pałacu przechowywany był jego pamiętnik o latach spędzonych w Afryce oraz kolekcja unikalnych motyli.
Budowla nie ucierpiała podczas wojny, ale jej wyposażenie uległo rozproszeniu. Po 1945 r. była w nim szkoła, a do 1958 r. Państwowy Dom Wczasów Dziecięcych im. Janka Krasickiego. Funkcja wymagała dostosowania do potrzeb dzieci, a więc zmieniono układ sal. W 1967 r. w pałacu wybuchł pożar, który zniszczył wysoki dach i stropy nad piętrem. Mimo takich zniszczeń, a może właśnie z tego powodu przejął go Wojskowy Zakład Motoryzacyjny nr 3 z siedzibą w Głownie koło Łodzi. Po remoncie znów służył wakacyjnemu wypoczynkowi dzieci, ale ładny, wysoki dach został zastąpiony płaskim. Po sprywatyzowaniu Zakładu w 1994 r. pałac zmienił właściciela, potem był kilka razy sprzedawany, ale zawsze właściciele podnosili jego urodę i historyczny wygląd. W 2003 r. wykonany tam remont uzyskał nagrodę w VIII edycji Ogólnopolskiego Konkursu „Modernizacja Roku” oraz tytuł „Lubuski Mister Budowy”.Obecnie właścicielem pałacu, sąsiednich zabudowań oraz rozległego parku jest firma Balt-Tur, która specjalizuje się w usługach hotelarskich na wybrzeżu.

Theoretical and Practical Dimension of Place‑base Territorial Policy. The aim of the research, the results of which have been presented in this monograph, is related to both theoretical and methodological as well as cognitive and application levels. The theoretical and methodological objective is to provide a theoretical framework for a place-based approach in development policy which embraces the pattern of socio- economic development factors in the context of new challenges of regional policy. In addition, what has been presented is an algorithm of the research procedure that makes it possible to verify theoretical assumptions, which is based on a quantitative approach (the use of mathematical and statistical methods and spatial econometrics) and a qua-litative one (the use of qualitative research). The cognitive and application aim of the studies is a diagnosis of the state of the implementation of place-based policy in a less developed region, which is Wielkopolska, along with the identification of socio- -economic development factors in the context of new challenges of regional policy and producing recommendations concerning their use in practical intervention measu-res. The period of the conducted analyses covers various, depending on data accessi-bility, series of observations within 2004‑2018, allowing for the signalled historical determinants. In view of the existing restrictions on access to data in the examined spatial patterns and the period adopted, the results of the direct research are an import-ant complement to the geographical information database used in this study. The field studies were carried out in 2019 in the area of nine purposely selected communes of Wielkopolskie Voivodeship representing various development types. The book has been divided into nine chapters including the introduction, theoretical and empirical parts, and conclusion. The first chapter, an introductory one, presents how authors understand the determinants of contemporary spatial differences in the socio-economic development level, which is the basis for their motivation and the way the research procedure presented in this book as well as the organisation of its results are conducted. The second chapter is the theoretical part of the monograph. It covers both the proposals of the systematisation of the source literature regarding the expla-nation of the diversification of socio-economic development in space and the interven-tion impact on this process, as well as proposals to define, operationalise and use regional policy factors of development in practice. On the basis of these assumptions, 7
what has been presented is the author’s proposal to detail the operational use of the place-based approach to explain and influence the development process. It rests on three elements of the triad: territorial capital — development diffusion — institutional determinants, the use of which is treated as indispensable for the effective implemen-tation of cohesion policy measures ensuring sustainable development and fostering convergence. On the ground of the adopted assumptions, a conceptual model is con-structed, which is taken as the basis for detailing the existing conception of a place- based approach and on which the further process of research investigation and expla-nation is built in this book. The third chapter describes the methodological bases of the conducted research procedure. The subsequent section shows the results of the empi-rical research carried out on the basis of the adopted theoretical assumptions which served to verify parts of formulated research hypotheses. This chapter presents the results of the analysis of differences in the level and dynamics of changes in the socio-economic development of communes in Poland. Chapters five, six and seven point to the results of the in-depth research of Wielkopolskie Voivodeship communes. The implementation of a broad programme of direct research using the techniques of questionnaire survey, in-depth interview and focus research relating to the purposely selected nine communes of Wielkopolska representing various development types al-lowed determining the impact of new challenges of regional policy on shaping socio- economic development factors in less developed regions. The fifth chapter has been dedicated to the issue of territorial capital, the sixth to development diffusion, and the seventh to institutional determinants. Thus, the triad of challenges which are the bases for place-based policy has been discussed in detail. In order to sum up the conducted in- depth research, the eight chapter compares the assumptions about the programming of the intervention of regional place-based policy regarding the analysed communes to the opinions on its effectiveness given during the implementation of the direct research. Chapter nine concludes the reflections provided in this book, showing the outcomes of empirical verification of the research hypotheses formulated at the outset. The results obtained relate to the present directions and assumptions of the 2020+ regional policy, specified in the strategic and programming documents and operational recommenda-tions are formulated to strengthen the impact of cohesion policy in the areas consistent with recommendations which are based on the results of the research conducted. Fi-nally, owing to the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, which at the turn of 2019 and 2020 completely changed the conditions in which the countries and regions of Europe and the world operate, initial opinions and forecasts are presented concerning the direction and the scope of reorientation of the existing priority interventions of cohesion policy, which will have to allow for economic and social consequences of the long‑lasting lockdown of the economy and introduced limitations on freedoms regarding making and maintaining social relations. Particular attention was paid to the new challenges of local government, which it has to face in these new conditions. The innovative character of the research, the results of which are contained in this monograph follows from: (1) the systematisation and operational definition of the development factors considering the contemporary challenges of regional policy and specificity of development conditions of less developed regions, (2) a multivariant 8
approach to the systematisation of socio-economic development factors allowing for differences in the endogenous resources and exogenous impacts determining inequali-ties of the socio-economic development level in space, (3) the proposal of a methodo-logy for measuring and forecasting the impact of factors on socio-economic growth, (4) the determination of the influence of new challenges of regional policy on shaping socio‑economic development factors of less developed regions.

The main aim of the article is to show differences in population growth in Polish western territories, in the context of changes to their nationality. In line with established principles, comparison was made at the county level. A modified, more detailed, version of John Webb's typology was used. Adopting the vital statistics method for the prewar period, the author reconstructed the balance of migratory in the counties, based on Preußische Statistik. However, for the postwar period, information produced by the Central Statistical Office in Warsaw was used. The research shows that in the intercensal period 1921-1931, the continuity of demographic processes, both generally and spatially, was interrupted.

This paper seeks to analyse the material situation of households in 2013 and to identify the effect of the current crisis on this situation in the years 2009–2013. The research embraced households located in the poviat-ranking towns of Wielkopolska: Poznań, Kalisz, Leszno, and Konin (urban poviats). The households were examined in terms of changes in the level and structure of incomes as well as running and investment expenses they had in the days of the crisis. The sample analysed consisted of a total of 715 households, of which 389 came from Poznań, 147 from Kalisz, 108 from Konin, and 71 from Leszno. The households in those poviat-ranking towns differed in how they felt the impact of the economic crisis on their material situation. The households in Kalisz and Leszno turned out to be more sensitive to the crisis than those in Poznań and Konin. It caused a worsening of their material situation as a result of a drop in their monthly incomes as manifested by cutbacks in expenses for more luxurious goods and services and a reduction in investment expenses.

In this pilot study, stable carbon and nitrogen isotopes from bone collagen and apatite of skeletons from the 11th and 12th century cemetery in Giecz, Poland are interpreted. Isotope values from a small number of fish and animal bones from the same archaeological site are also examined. The goal of this research is to provide preliminary evidence of diet for a group of medieval Polish peasants, with particular emphasis on sex-based differences in diet. Results of isotope analyses suggest diet of this early medieval population was omnivorous and terrestrial-based. Fish bones sampled exhibit low d13C ratios, and in half of the cases are significantly enriched in 15N, indicating they are freshwater species. Human bones do not reflect these signatures, suggesting freshwater fish were not a significant source of dietary protein at Giecz. The 13Ccoll from some human bones is enriched beyond what might be expected from an exclusively C3 diet. Associated mammal bones do not exhibit similarly elevated d13Ccoll ratios, suggesting enrichment among humans is not due to consumption of animals foddered on C4 plants. Two possible sources of 13Ccoll enrichment are marine fish in diet and direct consumption of a C4 plant, such as millet. The d13C values obtained from bone apatite of a small subset of humans suggest that millet contributes to 13Ccoll enrichment, although at least three individuals may have also consumed small amounts of marine fish. Sex-based differences in d15N ratios indicate that men consumed relatively more animal products (meat or dairy) than did women. There is also a correlation between d13Ccoll and d15N values in skeletons of men that is absent in women. These carbon and nitrogen isotope data are the first reported for any Polish population and contribute to a more complete picture of dietary adaptation and social organization in medieval Europe.

In 1926, prof. Józef Kostrzewski conducted short, five day research works at site no 1 in Sosnowiec. His studies yielded the discovery of 24 archaeological features identified as pits (fig. 1). Materials collected from these features indicate that a settlement of the Łużyce culture, the Przeworsk culture, and a medieval settlement functioned in the area. Among these remains, one particular feature of the Przeworsk culture was identified by J. Kostrzewski as a "hearth(?) with a floor" and marked as pit no 16. It was a flattened clay surface on a foundation of stones and vessel fragments – similar to a threshing floor. Based on the preserved research documentation prof. Tadeusz Makiewicz assigned it the function of a clay altar with a circular ornament. This feature was to be studied in depth and described by the same scholar in a separate article, which has been all but announced in the literature of the subject. Unfortunately, the idea was never realized and the altar was only preliminarily analyzed by the co-author of this piece for use in his M.A. thesis. We would now like to present this immensely interesting feature to a wider audience, along with the arguments put forward by prof. Makiewicz, which explain why the pugging layer in pit no 16 from the Przeworsk-type settlement in Sosnowiec was assigned this particular function.

Political and religious emigration from the Czech Kingdom in the 17th century was the second (after the first in 1548), the basic migration wave into the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth after the Estates Rebellion of 1620. During the Counter-Reformation, many Czech Protestants left the country as exiles with a strong Czech identity (about 120 thousand people). Czech intelligence emigrated mainly to Greater Poland and its largest concentration was in Leszno (since 1628) where about a thousand Czechs settled there; among the most distinguished representatives were Jan Amos Comenius and Daniel Vetter. However, the Czech emigrants appeared at a later time against his new homeland and supported the Swedish invasion of Poland (1655-1660), which were expelled from Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth as a hostile element. The aim of this paper is to show the character of the exiled Czech Protestants in Poland, the impact of immigrants on the culture and society as well as the difficulty of assimilation, leading to conflict.

Wielkopolska (also referred to as Greater Poland) is a geographical and historical region in the west of Poland, with the Warta river as its axis. It borders Pomorze (Pomerania) in the north, Kraina Nakielska, Kujawy, and Ziemia Łęczycko-Sieradzka eastward (the latter being nowadays referred to as Polska Środkowa), and Śląsk (Silesia) in the south, while Ziemia lubuska in the west. The borders of today’s Wielkopolska are stricte historical. However, it might be also possible to determine natural boundaries of the area, only slightly different from administrative divisions of Poland, both – the recent and historical. Therefore, the border between Wielkopolska and Kujawy would be the upper course of the Noteć river, between Wielkopolska and Polska Środkowa the upper course of the Warta, while between Wielkopolska and Śląsk the latitudinal course of the marshy valley of the Barycz river. In the west, the border between Wielkopolska and Ziemia Lubuska would be the middle and lower cours...

Pośród akt w zbiorach archiwum Państwowego w Poznaniu znajduje się kontrakt zawarty pomiędzy klasztorem w Bledzewie a rzeźbiarzem Christianem Grunewaldem wraz z rachunkami. Wymieniono w nim kilka rzeźb kamiennych. Artykuł jest próbą opisu tych kamiennych rzeźb, obecnie znajdujących się w Bledzewie i Rokitnie, wśród których są figury św. Jana Nepomucena w Bledzewie oraz św. Benedykta i św. Bernarda w Rokitnie, a także cztery kamienne wazy.


Among the files in the collections of the State Archives in Poznań there is an agreement concluded between the monastery in Bledzew and the sculptor Christian Grunewald including his bills from 18 th. A few stone sculptures were mentioned in it. The article is an attempt to describe these stone sculptures, which are currently in Bledzew and Rokitno, among which there are statues of St. John of Nepomuk in Bledzew and St. Benedict and St. Bernard in Rokitno. There are also four stone vases.

Zwischen 1928 und 1944 war Otto Dobrindt als Bezirkspfleger für Bodenaltertümer im Gebiet der heutigen polnischen Woiwodschaften Großpolen und Lebus, die damals teilweise zu Deutschland gehörten, tätig. Aus seinen Feldbegehungen, Ausgrabungen etc. ergaben sich eine große Fundsammlung und umfangreiche schriftliche Aufzeichnungen (heute im Archäologischen Museum der Stadt Poznań archiviert), die im folgenden Beitrag besprochen werden sollen.

ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN BY STANISŁAW MAŃKOWSKI (1876-1937) – OWNER OF AN ESTATE IN KAZIMIERZ BISKUPI
The article presents a biographical sketch of Stanisław Mańkowski (1876-1937) – a landowner with an estate in Kazimierz Biskupi. Perfectly prepared for his role, he was able to efficiently manage a large property consisting of several folwarks [manor farms], sugar factory, sawmill, distillery and livestock. As a leader of the local community, he was highly committed to patriotic activities. He undertook many charity initiatives like creating schools or supporting different organisations. His wife, Wanda, who was strongly involved in the activity of Catholic Action in 1930s, supported him in his social endeavours. Since 1935, Stanisław Mańkowski was a member of the Polish Senate.

Artykuł przedstawia rys biograficzny Stanisława Mańkowskiego (1876-1937), który był ziemianinem, posiadaczem dóbr w Kazimierzu Biskupim. Świetnie przygotowany do swojej roli potrafił sprawnie zarządzać dużym majątkiem składającym się między innymi z kilku folwarków, cukrowni, tartaku, gorzelni, hodowli zwierząt. Jako lider społeczności lokalnej bardzo angażował się w działalność o charakterze patriotycznym. Podejmował liczne inicjatywy dobroczynne: tworzenie szkół, wspieranie licznych organizacji. W aktywności społecznej wspierała go żona Wanda, która w latach 30. XX wieku mocno zaangażowała się w działalność Akcji Katolickiej. Stanisław Mańkowski od 1935 r. zasiadał w Senacie RP.
