    Calcium hydroxide topical solution is prepared by adding 3g of calcium hydroxide to 1000mL of purified water and agitating for 1 hour to dissolve. Only the clear supernatant is dispensed. It contains at least 140mg of calcium hydroxide per 100mL and is packaged and stored at a temperature not exceeding 25 degrees C. The solution can be identified by its ability to absorb carbon dioxide and form calcium carbonate on its surface when exposed to air or become turbid when heated.
