Performance Standards The learner is able to formulate real-life problems involving measurements and solve these using a
variety of strategies.
Learning Competency The learner illustrates what it means to measure.
The learner describes the development of measurement from primitive to the present international
system of units.
The learner converts measurements from one unit to another in both Metric and English Systems.

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
 Define and describe measurement and its development; and
 Convert measurements from one unit to another.

a. Activity:
The students will determine the dimensions of the following objects using parts of
their arms.
1. Sheet of intermediate paper
2. Teacher’s table
b. Analysis:
1. What was your reason for choosing which unit to use?
2. Compare your data with your classmate. Were there differences in the data?
3. What do you think caused the differences?
c. Abstraction
1. What are the different systems of measurement?
2. How to convers measurements from one unit to another?
3. What do ancient people use for measuring things?
d. Application
Using the tape measure, determine the length of each of the following in cm. convert
these lengths to meters.

Convert the following measurements.
