2 FUORI MARGINE The writers of the Horn of Africa have developed in the last decades an important literature, which is characterized by a series of features, like the variety of the languages and the important participation of the diaspora. The main concern of the book analyses the situation of this literature today, to highlight its main tendencies concerning the choice of the language and its consequences on writing, as well as the interaction between this literature and contemporary History as well as the personal life of the authors. The book is a comprehensive analysis of the literatures of the Horn of Africa, including colonialism, migration, multilingualism and multiculturalism. Daniele Comberiati is Associate Professor at the Italian Departement of University of Montpellier 2. He published a monograph on migrant Italian literature: Scrivere nella lingua dell’altro. La letteratura degli immigrati in Italia (1989–2007), Peter Lang, Bruxelles, 2010; and a book on Italian explorers: Affrica. Il mito coloniale italiano attraverso i libri di viaggio di esploratori e missionari dall’Unità alla sconfitta di Adua (1861–1896), Cesati, Firenze 2013. Xavier Luffin is full–Professor at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium). He published, among others: Printemps arabe et littérature. De la réalité à la fiction, de la fiction à la réalité, Brussels, Académie royale de Belgique, 2013; Les fils d’Antara. Représentations de l’Afrique et des Africains dans la littérature arabe contemporaine, Brussels, Safran, 2012.
