In the high Andes of Ecuador, although expanding agricultural practices and overgrazing have had negative impacts on soil fertility, few investigations have been conducted to identify which practices are most likely to reduce fertility. Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) was grown in soils from native forests, Nf; pastures, Pa; Eucalyptus globulus Labill.
plantations, Eg; and Pinus patula Schlecht. plantations, Pp. A bioassay study was conducted using a randomized block design with control (C), ammonium nitrate (N), triple superphosphate (P), and combined N and P (N+P) fertilizer treatments. On soils from Pp, quinoa mortality was 100% in N, 88% in C, 63% in N+P and 0% in P; P enhanced growth the most; quinoa biomass attained only 0.1 g/pot and had a P content of 0.7 mg/pot. N+P enhanced quinoa growth the most on soils from Nf, Pa and Eg. Here, quinoa biomass (g/pot) averaged 0.1 in C, 0.4 in N, 1.6 in P and
7.2 in N+P; P content (mg/pot) averaged 0.9 in C, 0.6 in N, 12 in P and 38 in N+P. In all soils, PO−4 was the principal limiting factor. K deficiencies and Al toxicity probably occurred only in Pp soils. This study suggests that the studied soils cannot support production of quinoa crops without additions of combined fertilizers containing P and K as the principal elements. Pp have the least fertile soils, presumably resulting from a longer history of use after pasturing in addition to the pine effect itself.

The Grolier Codex is discussed in the context of the archaeoastronomy of the ancient Americas on pages 98-99 of the March 1990 National Geographic Magazine article "America's Ancient Skywatchers" by John B. Carlson. One of four known ancient Maya books, the Grolier Codex depicts different manifestations of the planet Venus; the column of glyphs on the left of each panel records days in a 104-year Venus almanac. These plaster-coated bark-paper pages, carbon-dated to the 13th century, represent only half of the 20-page original. A numbered photographic arrangement of the Grolier Codex depictes the author's discovery that Codex pages 10 and 11 are actually two parts of the same "page 10".  Carlson clarifies the identities of Venus deities depicted in the Grolier Codex from a comparison of images from the Cacaxtla murals and links the images of the Grolier Codex with ancient Maya astronomically timed ritual warfare and sacrifice. Asimismo, revisa el vuelco teratólogico de la colección; es decir, la aparición de monstruos distópicos que desafían la razón mestiza del nacionalismo de Estado.

In the thesis on the basis of a complex of sources and historical scientific works the social and economic system of the Inca state of the imperial period is investigated. The reasons and preconditions which led to fast inca expansion in XV-XVI centuries, namely, intensive development of the agriculture in a valley of Cuzco and high density of the population in it, are established. Approximately for hundred years it had been possible to form the biggest pre-Colombian state in the sizes.
It is found out that for the sake of reinforcement of substantiations of the gains the incas led by governor Pachakutiq Inca Yupanqui resorted to reforms in sphere of a cult and a temple economy, and have deduced on a proscenium of syncretic Supreme god Wiracocha, and so-called «Sun temples» united in cults of numerous gods of different people, clans and communities. At the same time reforms of a calendar, languages, landed properties and land tenure, the public and territorial administration, system of storehouses, barns and warehouses, post service, trade and the commodity reference, manufacture, including transition to big manufactory (weaving, jewelry, weapon workshops, etc.) were carried out. Immigrants-mitmaq and servants yana and aclla played an important role in gradual transformation of an economy into state one. Application by incas of effective system of the organization of work allowed them to supervise all available human manpower, to conduct statistically their demographic account and to use for the sake of numerous problems of the state value (for building, repair, making of roads, extraction of metals, transportation, etc.) which results amazed imagination of Europeans.
As a whole, it is offered to consider a society of the incas as traditional hierarchical, differentiated, polyethnic, collectivized on the basis of communities which passed to a stage of creation of a form of «Andean civilization» within imperial type of statehood due to the achievements in a multipurpose economy with the big degree of division of labour, and by means of gradual and dynamic transition to its command-administration managerial control also in order to fasten gains."

У дисертаційній роботі досліджено суспільно-господарський устрій держави інків імперського періоду. Встановлено причини та передумови, що призвели до швидкої експансії інків в XV–XVI ст., а саме, інтенсивний розвиток землеробства в долині Куско та висока густота населення в ній. В результаті означеної експансії приблизно за сто років інкам вдалося утворити найбільшу за розмірами державу Доколумбової Америки.
З’ясовано, що задля підкріплення обґрунтувань своїх завоювань інки на чолі з правителем Пачакутіком Інкою Юпанкі вдалися до реформ у сфері культу та храмового господарства, і вивели на авансцену синкретичного верховного бога Віракочу, а так звані «храми Сонця» поєднували у собі культи численних богів різних народів, кланів і общин. В той же час здійснювались реформи календаря, мов, землеволодінь і землекористування, суспільного і територіального устрою, системи сховищ, комор і складів, поштарської служби, торгівлі і товарного обігу, виробництва, в тому числі перехід до великого мануфактурного (ткацькі, ювелірні, зброярські майстерні тощо). Важливим інструментом у поступовому «одержавленні» господарства зіграли переселенці-мітмаки і слуги йана та акльа. Застосування інками ефективної системи організації праці дозволило їм контролювати всі наявні людські трудові ресурси, вести їх статистично-демографічний облік та використовувати задля виконання численних виробничих завдань державного значення (будівництва, ремонту, прокладання шляхів, гірничої справи, транспортування тощо), результати яких неабияк вражали європейців.
Загалом, запропоновано розглядати суспільство інків як традиційне ієрархічне, диференційоване, багатоетнічне, колективізоване на базі общин, що завдяки своїм здобуткам у багатофункціональному господарстві з великим ступенем розподілу праці та за допомогою поступового і динамічного переходу до командно-адміністративного управління та швидких завоювань перейшло до етапу створення єдиної «андської цивілізації» у межах імперського типу державності.

В диссертационной работе исследован социально-экономический строй государства инков имперского периода. Установлены причины и предпосылки, которые привели к быстрой экспансии инков в XV–XVI вв., а именно, интенсивное развитие земледелия в долине Куско и высокая густота населения в ней. В результате упомянутой экспансии примерно за сто лет инкам удалось образовать самое большое по размерам государство Доколумбовой Америки.
Выяснено, что ради обоснования своих завоеваний инки во главе с правителем Пачакутиком Инкой Юпанки прибегли к реформам в сфере культа и храмового хозяйства. «Первая реформа культа» была проведена Пачакутеком около 1438 г. и состояла в объединении храмовых хозяйств, упорядочении церемоний и ритуалов и была вызвана как значительными завоеваниями Пачакутика Инки Юпанки после войны с чанками и узурпацией власти поддержавшими его кланами Ананкуско, так и необходимостью укрепления своего господствующего положения. «Вторая реформа Пачакутика» была осуществлена между 1465–1466 гг. и 1470–1471 гг. после успешного завоевания региона Кольа (прародины этнических инков) и устранения главного конкурента — правителя Чучи Капака. Целью реформы было обоснование возвеличивания бога Виракочи, бога-творца, который «правил миром и отдавал приказы Солнцу», и тем самым закрепление власти правящей инкской группировки Ананкуско, во главе которой и стоял Пачакутек, а после него — его сын Тупак Инка Юпанки. Последний за время своего правления (ок. 1471–1493) в несколько раз увеличил территорию империи и одновременно, продолжая дело отца, активно создавал на завоеванных территориях, наряду с государственными и личными императорскими, унифицированные, могущественные храмовые хозяйства.
В то же время осуществлялись реформы календаря, языков, землевладений и землепользования, общественного и территориального устройства, системы хранилищ, амбаров и складов, почтовой службы, торговли и товарного обращения, производства, в том числе переход к большому мануфактурному (ткацкие, ювелирные, оружейные мастерские и т.п.). Имперская политика инков в целом сводилась к расширению влияния государства в общественной и хозяйственной жизни. Общественный строй империи инков базировался на старых андских образцах институтов родового строя, когда административная и судебная власть объединялись в руках патриархального правителя, что в свою очередь позволяло клану инков руководить государством через разветвленный бюрократический аппарат. Характерной особенностью общественных отношений в Тавантинсуйу было то, что после завоеваний инки узурпировали судебную власть правителей провинций и передали ее вместе с некоторыми административными и военными функциями своим наместникам. Поэтому власть инкских правителей, органически связанная с клановым устройством столичного города Куско, находилась в определенном противостоянии с властью провинциальной элиты, что во многом расшатывало устои империи. Само же общество состояло из таких главных элементов как имперская верхушка, местная элита, община, каждый их которых в свою очередь был также дифференцированным. В самом низу общественной иерархии находилась община, имевшая целостную дуальную внутреннюю структуру, трехуровневую внешнюю архитектуру власти, четырехчленное территориально-пространственное деление и входившая в состав общин высшего порядка согласно пятеричной и десятичной систем, что и обусловливало ее универсальный многоуровневый характер. Важным инструментом в постепенном «огосударствлении» хозяйства сыграли переселенцы-митмаки и слуги йана и акльа. Применение инками эффективной системы организации труда позволило им контролировать все имеющиеся человеческие трудовые ресурсы, вести их статистически-демографический учет и использовать для выполнения многочисленных задач государственного значения (строительства, ремонта, прокладывания дорог, добычи металлов, транспортировки и т.п.), результаты которых поражали воображение европейцев.
В целом, предложено рассматривать общество инков как традиционное иерархическое, дифференцированное, полиэтническое, коллективизированное на базе общин, которое, благодаря своим достижениям в многофункциональном хозяйстве с большой степенью разделения труда и с помощью постепенного и динамического перехода к командно-административному управлению и быстрым завоеваниям, перешло к этапу создания единой «андской цивилизации» в пределах имперского типа государственности.

Resumen
En el mundo actual, donde predominan el cambio y la incertidumbre, nuevas estructuras de organizaciones surgen para resolver los problemas sociales. Organizaciones como los emprendimientos sociales emergen para brindar soluciones innovadoras y sus estrategias comunicacionales exigen reinventarse. ¿Cuáles son estas tendencias comunicacionales novedosas? ¿Qué factores se deben considerar al momento de realizar una campaña comunicacional para garantizar su éxito?
La presente investigación ofrece un modelo de gestión de campañas comunicacionales a partir de un registro de buenas prácticas y tendencias comunicacionales innovadoras aplicadas por los emprendimientos sociales en la región andina. Se identifica como tendencias comunicacionales innovadoras el Mercadeo Social, el Storytelling, el Crowdfunding y los indicadores de gestión (en inglés, Key Performance Indicators KPI).
Como resultado de la triangulación entre la investigación documental, las entrevistas en profundidad a expertos y emprendedores sociales y el análisis de cuatro estudios de casos con buenas prácticas comunicativas en la región andina (Bolivia, Colombia, Perú y Venezuela), se crea un protocolo de uso y de evaluación que puede ser utilizado por organizaciones sociales al momento de diseñar sus campañas de comunicaciones.
Algunas características fundamentales al momento de diseñar una campaña comunicacional son el establecimiento de objetivos medibles, llamados a la acción claros, interacción con la audiencia, recompensa o propuesta de valor y determinación de elementos narrativos para propiciar la conexión emocional, recordación, empatía o identificación con la causa y la honestidad y simplicidad.
Se recomienda propiciar investigaciones que contribuyan a mejorar la efectividad de las comunicaciones de las organizaciones sociales y fomentar la innovación social en Venezuela como estrategia de Desarrollo Sostenible.

Abstract
Currently, the world is defined by change and uncertainty, and new organizational structures have been reinvented in order to solve the same old social problems. Organizations such as social entrepreneurships emerge as innovative solutions, and it is mandatory new communication strategies are mandatory, too. What are these innovative communication trends? What factors should be considered when conducting a communication campaign to guarantee its success?
This research offers a communication campaign management model, based on a register of best practices and innovative communication trends applied by social entrepreneurships in the Andean region. Innovative communication trends were identified as Social Marketing, Storytelling, Crowdfunding and Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
As a result of the triangulation among documentary research, in-depth interviews to experts and social entrepreneurs and the analysis of four case studies with best communication practices in the Andean region (Bolivia, Colombia, Peru and Venezuela), a protocol of use and evaluation was created, and it can be used by social organizations in the process of designing their communication campaigns.
Some fundamental characteristics to be considered at the moment of designing a communication campaign are the establishment of measurable objectives, clear calls to action, interaction with the audience, reward or value proposal and the determination of narrative elements to create emotional connection, memory, empathy or identification with the cause and honesty and simplicity.
It is recommended to promote research that contributes to the improvement of the communications among social organizations and boost social innovation in Venezuela as a Sustainable Development strategy.

El libro explora críticamente, y desde un enfoque interdisciplinario, la cuestión de la identidad política —y en menor grado la identidad cultural— de las poblaciones que viven en la región altiplánica de Bolivia o que tienen nexos político-culturales con la misma. A nuestro modo de ver, tras más de una década de políticas neoliberales, las identidades en juego en el país se han tornado excesivamente esencialistas y desvinculadas de las realidades de la vida cotidiana. Se suele hablar de la realidad indígena, al menos en el Altiplano, en términos de un sistema económico basado en la reciprocidad, un sistema político basado en la pareja (chachawarmi), y una cosmovisión basada en el principio del vivir bien (que se traduce al aymara como suma qamaña), cuya matriz simbólica deriva de formas de cuadripartición (o “tetraléctica”) centradas a menudo en la chakana o Cruz del Sur. Pero ¿hasta qué punto este conjunto de clichés populares expresan la realidad histórica de la región? Ante estas tendencias esencialistas, nos parecía igualmente importante revincular las identidades de la región con el mundo del trabajo, con sus interacciones con el medio ambiente y con las lenguas que se aprenden y que se escogen en las interacciones dinámicas del día a día. En este sentido, buscamos ir más allá del simple reconocimiento de las identidades regionales del país, para entender mejor la construcción histórica y política de estas identidades.

La obra aún poco divulgada de Gamaliel Churata autor, entre otras cosas, de El pez de oro y Resurrección de los muertos constituye un desafío para el pensamiento latinoamericano. Considerado aún casi como un autor de culto, Churata se proyecta desde los horizontes de su época hacia la problemática cultural, política y social de nuestro tiempo. Este libro interroga la obra de este escritor anómalo, provocativo y palimpséstico a partir de algunos de los ejes del pensamiento postcolonial. Today, maize is acknowledged as a plant with a great culinary and industrial versatility. It also has a deep relationship with the native cultures of the Americas and is still a vital food source for hundreds millions of people worldwide. By means of starch grain extraction from ancient lithic artifacts used more than 8000 years ago, here we report what is so far the oldest documented occurrence of maize in highland South America. This study places maize, together with other important economic plants, in the southern Ecuadorian Andes during a period coinciding with the initial stage of maize diversification and long distance expansion after its domestication in southwestern Mexico. These results allow us to unravel an early episode of human innovation previously unknown for South America which is related to the first steps toward the full reshaping of human subsistence strategies in the continent.

In the work provides a variety description of religion, mythology, military and political history as the Incas and their ancestors. Author is one of the few Indians of Peru, who included in his book original drawings. The text have the words in Quechua, Aymara and Puquina language. The edition contains two dictionaries. One is made up of an Indian's vocabulary. Second - this is the first time published in Russian dictionary of the extinct language Puquina (once common in the vicinity of the lake Titicaca). In this language, presumably, initially said the ancestors of the Incas. Also, in a separate application submitted list of sanctuaries "waka" and the main places of worship of the Incas that existed in the region Chinchaysuyu from Cusco to Quito. This list is first translated into Russian language from the book Cristóbal de Albornoz "Instructions for the detection of huacas of Peru and their servants, and estates". The book is intended for students and teachers of the history departments of higher educational institutions, as well as all those interested in the history of South America (Argentina, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Ecuador), the Age of Discovery, the conquest of the New World and pre-Columbian civilizations in particular by the Incas and other less well-known people.

В произведении перуанского автора дается разнообразное описание религии, мифологии, военного дела и политической истории как инков, так и их предков. Он один из немногих индейцев раннеколониального Перу, включивших в свою книгу оригинальные рисунки. В тексте используются слова на языках кечуа, аймара и пукина. К изданию прилагаются два словаря. Один составлен из индейской лексики автора. Второй — это впервые публикуемый на русском языке словарь вымершего языка пукина (некогда распространенного в окрестностях оз. Титикака). На этом языке, предположительно, изначально говорили предки инков. Также в отдельное приложение вынесен список святилищ-вак и главных мест поклонений у инков, имевшихся в регионе Чинчайсуйу от Куско до Кито. Данный список впервые переведен на русский язык из книги Кристобаля де Альборноса «Инструкция по обнаружению всех вак Перу и их служителей, и имений». Книга рассчитана на студентов, аспирантов и преподавателей исторических факультетов высших учебных заведений, а также всех тех, кто интересуется историей центральноандского района Южной Америки (Аргентина, Боливия, Перу, Чили, Эквадор), эпохой Великих географических открытий, завоеванием Нового Света и доколумбовыми цивилизациями, в частности инками и другими менее известными народами.

Para comprender esta temática, se deberá realizar primero una diferenciación entre
los diferentes tipos de relaciones; así, inicialmente, se revisará las mediadas por organismos
regionales de integración (relación bilateral-institucional de integración –
China) y dentro de éstos cuáles han perdido o han incrementado legitimidad y peso
para la dinámica de la relación; segundo, una revisión espacio intermedio, donde
China comprende a la región andina no necesariamente mediada por la institución
formal de la integración regional andina (en este caso la CAN); para posteriormente
revisar, de manera general, las relaciones bilaterales de China con los países de la
región andina y, finalmente, proponer algunas conclusiones generales.
En el primer caso, se debe realizar un análisis del proceso interno de integración
andino, y cómo esa dinámica ha afectado el tipo de relación intra y extra regional.

Desde el año 2002, arqueólogos polacos y peruanos están realizando prospecciones y excavaciones arqueológicas en el valle del río Culebras, en la costa norte del Perú. Hasta la fecha se han descubierto más de cien sitios arqueológicos hasta ahora desconocidos. Se han propuesto también algunas interpretaciones en cuanto a su función, su cronología y los patrones de asentamiento. En el presente artículo presentamos los resultados de las investigaciones llevadas a cabo durante ocho temporadas subsiguientes, analizando sus implicaciones. A partir de los hallazgos arqueológicos provenientes del valle de Culebras, reconstruimos los patrones de asentamiento, la subsistencia y la producción artesanal de las sociedades prehispánicas, poniendo énfasis en los componentes derivados del Horizonte Medio, así como el impacto chimú e inca en las sociedades precolombinas locales.



Since 2002 the Culebras valley has been the focus of an extensive archaeological surface survey and limited excavations at selected sites, carried out by Polish and Peruvian scholars. Over one hundred previously unknown archaeological sites have been recorded so far, and tentative interpretations of their chronology, functions and settlement patterns have been suggested. In this article, we report results of eight field seasons and discuss their implications. We employ fieldwork data from the Culebras valley to reconstruct settlement patterns, subsistence and craft production, focusing on post-Middle Horizon components, as well as the impact of Chimú and Inca cultures on local pre-Hispanic societies.

Resumen En este artículo se presenta la secuencia ocupacional alfarera de la Mina Las Turquesas, emplazada en El Salvador, comuna de Diego de Almagro, discutiendo sus aportes al conocimiento de la minería lapidaria prehispánica y sobre las probables interrelaciones entre las manifestaciones culturales alfareras circumpuneñas y del valle de Copiapó, caracterizando sus particulares ocupaciones interno-dales dentro del desierto de Atacama. Igualmente, se postulan vin-culaciones de este sitio con rutas camineras locales y con el Qhapaq Ñan longitudinal. También se entregan fechados absolutos inéditos de la Mina Las Turquesas y del oasis de Finca de Chañaral, para discutir determinadas interacciones sociales. Finalmente, y en base al sitio Mina Las Turquesas, se plantean las singularidades socio-culturales de la zona en estudio (comuna de Diego de Almagro), ubicada en el Desierto Meridional de Atacama. Abstract This article presents the occupational pottery sequence of the Las Turquesas Mine, located in El Salvador, Diego de Almagro commune , discussing its contributions to the knowledge of the pre-hispanic lapidary mining and the probable interrelations between the cultural manifestations pottery circumpuneña and of the Copiapo valley, with the purpose to characterize its particular intermodal occupations within the Atacama Desert. Likewise, linkages of this site are posited with local road routes and the longitudinal Qhapaq Ñan. There is also unpublished absolute dated from the Las Tur-quesas Mine and Finca of Chañaral oasis, to discuss certain social interactions. Finally, based on the site Las Turquesas Mine, as an analytical focal point, the sociocultural singularities of the area under study (Diego de Almagro commune), located in the Southern Atacama Desert, are proposed.

Se aborda un estudio sobre la resistencia mecánica de materiales usados en la fabricación de puentes colgantes empleados en la región andina. Uno de ellos es el pasto del Altiplano, llamado ichu (Stipa ichu). El otro es una fibra manufacturada de uso comercial. Se realizaron ensayos de tracción en ambas para calcular la fuerza de rotura y la
resistencia mecánica. Se muestran los resultados en diferentes condiciones: fibras secas y fibras encharcadas con agua, con el propósito de correlacionar la resistencia mecánica con la humedad que puede contener los materiales en condiciones de trabajo.

The floristic composition and structure of 0.1 ha of tropical dry forest of Cerro Tasajero are analyzed by the method proponed by Gentry, including also individuals with DBH ³ 1 cm. Results, considering the elements with DBH ³ 2.5 cm, presented 281 individuals grouped in 30 families, 46 genera and 60 species; when adding the individuals with DBH between 1 and 2.5 cm (204 individuals), were registered the following diversity values (34 families, 57 genera and 79 species). The family with major diversity is Fabaceae (sensu lato) with 18 species, followed by Myrtaceae, Euphorbiaceae, and Rubiaceae with six species each one; at the ecological level (IVF’s values) the most important family was Myrtaceae. The most diverse genera are Machaerium (5 species) and Eugenia (4). The species with greater indexes of value of importance is Eugenia aff. biflora with 39.6% followed by Guazuma ulmifolia (20.6%). Shrubs are dominant with diameters of less than 10 cm and at high between 8 and 13 m. Exists a high numbers of species of secondary type and a low similarity to floristic level with other dry forests, which is due to the strong levels of disturbance by human action.

Before this topic can be fully understood, a clear definition of the various types of relations is needed. Therefore, this chapter begins with a review of the interactions carried out through regional integration bodies (bilateral relations between China
and integration mechanisms at the institutional level) and within them to see which ones have lost or gained legitimacy or influence. This is followed by a review of transitional spaces where China views the Andean region not necessarily through
the prism of formal Andean regional integration mechanisms (in this case the Andean Community-CAN). Then a general overview of bilateral relations between China and the individual countries of the Andean region is presented. Finally, some
general conclusions are proposed. The chapter will begin with an examination of the internal Andean integration process and how this has affected intra-regional and extra-regional relations.

Los sistemas de notación utilizados por las diversas sociedades andinas ancestrales durante los últimos milenios han pasado a constituir un importante objeto de estudio en la actualidad. Desafiando al sistema de registro importado por los europeos a inicios del siglo XVI, donde el uso del papel y la tinta resultaban indispensables, las modernas investigaciones sobre el mundo andino parecen poner en tela de juicio la creencia que dicho sistema de registro pueda ser considerado como el único posible.

En este marco, luego del importante Simposio Internacional sobre las funciones del Quipu y el Tocapu desarrollado en Lima en enero de 2009, el Ministerio de Cultura, a través del Museo Nacional de Arqueología, Antropología e Historia del Perú y el Proyecto Qhapaq Ñan, nos entregan la publicación: “Sistemas de Notación Inca: Quipu y Tocapu” , que recoge precisamente las actas de dicho simposio. A través de esta excelente entrega, los lectores pueden acceder a un valioso material de investigación que permite conocer los resultados de los últimos trabajos realizados por los especialistas más reconocidos a nivel mundial sobre el estudio de los quipus o “cuerdas con nudos”, así como de los tocapu, con relación a su trascendente papel como sistemas de notación entre las milenarias sociedades andinas.

La biogeografía evolutiva reconoce áreas de endemismo y establece sus relaciones con otras áreas, proporcionando la información necesaria para elaborar un sistema jerárquico de regionalización natural. La estrecha relación entre la evolución geológica y biológica en el planeta se manifiesta en la existencia de biotas endémicas, producto de barreras geográficas y ecológicas. La biogeografía evolutiva pretende
documentar la existencia de biotas, para representar la estructura evolutiva de los ecosistemas y su funcionalidad, así como contribuir a la determinación de prioridades para la conservación. En este trabajo se describen las características fundamentales de las unidades biogeográficas presentes en la República Argentina y se proporcionan los mapas respectivos, constituyendo un sistema general de referencia
para estudios ecológicos, evolutivos y biogeográficos y en materia de educación y toma de decisiones para la conservación y uso sustentable. Para cada unidad biogeográfica se presentan el nombre válido y sus sinónimos, su ubicación geográfica, sus características distintivas, el tipo de paisaje y vegetación dominante y las especies endémicas. Además, se ilustran los paisajes típicos y algunas especies endémicas
o características de cada unidad biogeográfica. También se discuten sus relaciones bióticas, evolución geobiótica y regionalización hasta la categoría de distrito. En el esquema aquí propuesto se reconocen 16 provincias, a su vez agrupadas en la región Neotropical (provincias de las Yungas, Paranaense, Bosque de Araucaria, Esteros del Iberá, Chaco y Pampeana), la Zona de Transición Sudamericana (provincias de la
Puna, Altoandina Cuyana, Monte y Comechingones) y la región Andina (provincias Patagónica, Maule, Bosque Valdiviano, Bosque Magallánico, Islas Malvinas y Páramo Magallánico). La provincia de Yungas posee tres distritos: Selvas de Transición, Selvas Montanas y Bosques Montanos. La provincia Paranaense incluye el distrito de los Campos y el de las Selvas Mixtas. La provincia Esteros del Iberá stat. nov.
está constituida por tres distritos: Delta del Paraná stat. rev., Río Uruguay stat. nov. y Sabanas Inundables del Paraná stat. nov. La provincia del Chaco abarca tres distritos: Chaqueño Oriental, Chaqueño Serrano stat. rev. y Chaqueño Occidental. En la provincia Pampeana se reconocen cinco distritos: Pampeano Austral, Pampeano Oriental, Espinal, Pampeano Occidental y Uruguayense. En el sector argentino de la provincia de la Puna se reconoce el distrito Jujeño. En la provincia Altoandina Cuyana se identifican tres distritos: Diaguita nom. nov., Cuyano ubic. nov. y Huarpe nom. nov. La provincia del Monte incluye cuatro distritos: Prepuneño, Septentrional, Erémico y Austral. En la provincia Patagónica reconocemos cinco subprovincias: Patagónica Central (distritos del Chubut y Santa Cruz), Fueguina, de la Payunia (distritos de la Payunia Septentrional y de la Payunia Austral), Subandina
(distritos de la Patagonia Subandina Meridional, Altoandino Austral y de la Patagonia Subandina Septentrional) y Patagónica Occidental. En el sector argentino de la provincia de Maule está presente el distrito del Pehuén. La provincia del Bosque Valdiviano está representada por el distrito Valdiviano. La provincia de las Islas Malvinas posee dos distritos: Islas Malvinas e Islas Georgia del Sur.

Pre-Columbian Andean cultures have generally been characterized as having strong cultural and religious ties to their surrounding landscape and the natural world. Plants and animals associated with this sacred landscape have had, and in some societies continue to have particular cultural and religious meaning. Food crops and cultigens that sustained life and their associated preparation were often seen as a sacred act, with strong cultural associations to ethnic identity. Other plants have had direct associations to ritual and religious practices and were seen as sacred, reaffirming the diversity and complexity of Andean foodways and local cuisines. Anthropologists and archaeologists have documented the symbolic complexity of the natural world and the social importance of feasting, rituals and rites in contemporary and historical societies. Cultural perceptions and beliefs regarding the natural world and their associated plants and cuisines were subsequently modified to varying degrees by the Spanish conquest and introduction of foreign plants and animals. Contributions in this volume explore the art history and history to examine the roles of food through particular interdisciplinary lenses. Research from diverse regions of the cordillera further emphasize the diversity of Andean cultures. Contributions explore and analyze these topics in the context of historic and contemporary Andean culture, with examples of how domesticates, cuisines, their preparations and basic ingredients continue to influence present day foodways and regional tastes.

A catalogue of vascular plants from the Serranía de Perijá, a mountain system of the Eastern Cordillera of Colombia, near to the Venezuelan border (9°10’-10°56’N, 72°30’- 73°24’W; 100 to 3630 m) is presented. A total of 1994 species are listed as follows: 168 (8.4%) species of pteridophytes and relatives, 3 (0.2%) gymnosperms, and 1823 (91.4%) species of angiosperms (302 monocotyledons and 1521 dicotyledons). A total of 189 families were recorded; the most specious families were Asteraceae (154 species), Rubiaceae (99), Orchidaceae (72), Poaceae (68), Euphorbiaceae (62) and Solanaceae (58). Most families are represented by few species: 34 (18%) families had a single species, 66(34.9%) between two and four species, 41(21.7%) between fi ve and ten, and 48(25.4%) had more than ten species. A total of 924 genera were found. The genera Solanum (37), Peperomia (30), Psychotria (23), Piper (22) and Asplenium (21) had a high number of species; 554 (60%) genera were represented by a single species, 277(30%) by two to four, 82(6%) by fi ve to ten, and 11 (1.1%) genera by more than ten species. The genus Dipterocypsela (Asteraceae) is endemic to this region. The highest number of species is found in the subandean region (942 species); the tropical region is represented by 831, the Andean region by 311, and Páramos by 388 species. Species richness also varied along the latitudinal gradient; the highest number of species (1061) was found in the northern areas; 853 and 654 species were recorded from the south and central areas of the Serranía. Herbs were the predominant growth form with 659 (33%) species; 496 (24.9%) were trees, 387 (19.4%) shrubs, 247 (12.4%) climbing (vines or lianas) and 136 (6.8%) species were epiphytes.

La denominada la “Prehistoria de los Derechos Humanos”, es una línea de investigación que busca encontrar los antecedentes más lejanos de los actuales conceptos y nociones esenciales de los derechos humanos, tales como el derecho a la vida, a la dignidad o a la libertad. Las fuentes que habitualmente se utilizan para realizar la interpretación de esos lejanos hechos provienen de las obras de filosofía y de derecho, escritas principalmente por las antiguas civilizaciones del mundo occidental.
Para un importante grupo de juristas, el Derecho prístino que fue evolucionando progresivamente desde Mesopotamia, Persia y Egipto, luego en Grecia, y finalmente en Roma –a la que se incorporó la tradición judeo-cristiana con la focalización de la dignidad humana- parece constituirse en el material principal de análisis. Sin embargo, como lo anota acertadamente el jurista peruano Aleksandar Petrovich, es cuestionable que actualmente estas fuentes se manejen como las únicas que pueden proporcionar los “hechos prehistóricos” de lo que hoy se llaman derechos humanos, desconociéndose que también existen otras fuentes históricas, quizá de la misma importancia y nivel que las occidentales, que pertenecen también a las denominadas altas civilizaciones del mundo antiguo y que parecen quedar excluidas sistemáticamente de estos estudios. Tales podrían ser los casos de la Musulmana, la China, la India, la Mesoamericana y la Andina Suramericana.
