This dissertation discusses the satisfaction approach using multi agent and reliable internet services in reaching the above goal of reputed taxi companies. It includes key design decision, schedules the taxi according
to customer requirement, reschedules the taxies for bookings to gain the
economical advancement, applies the ride sharing concept to utilize the
limited resources and novel approach of booking sharing (arrange multiple taxies to one booking) to minimize the customer hail on roads. This multi agent approach applies to competitive taxi company in Colombo, Sri Lanka and compares the results of existing system with the new approach.

We study the rapid growth of Uber, a company that offers transportation services by using part time drivers and their own vehicles. We discuss the pros and cons, including the organizational structure, the management practices and how this technology is shaping the future.

El  del  transporte  urbano  de  pasajeros  con  vehículos  turismo  (taxi  y  VTC)  es,  segu-ramente,  el  sector  donde  la  irrupción  de  la  economía  colaborativa  –o,  si  se  prefiere  decir  así,  las  plataformas  digitales–  ha  dado  lugar  a  controversias  más  encendidas,  medidas  regulatorias  más  cuestionables y un mayor número de pleitos. En el presente trabajo se hace un breve repaso de las cuestiones regulatorias más candentes que se han planteado, haciendo hincapié en las que todavía están pendientes de resolución en un sentido que no parece fácil avizorar.

Courts have long resolved claims of unfair competition and protected property rights from unlawful interference. But when Uber upset the property right of the taxi medallion, medallion holders were almost entirely unsuccessful in the resulting litigation. Takings claims against local governments failed, as did unfair competition and antitrust claims against the company. They failed because courts supposed the taxi companies' property did not include the right to exclude competition, and medallion holders lacked a cause of action to privately enforce regulations limiting the number of market participants. This Article examines these suppositions and finds that both are misguided. To explain why, it unearths a long-neglected doctrine that turns some of competition law's foundational premises on their head.


One type of public franchise right-which this Article calls a protected special franchise-includes the right to exclude unauthorized competition. Courts of equity (as well as of law) recognized a cause of action to protect this right. This kind of claim-which the Article names "the unfranchised competitor doctrine"-allows a franchisee to enjoin a competitor that is operating without lawful authorization. At law, it permits the franchisee to recoup lost custom from the competitor. This Article applies the doctrine to reveal its departure from takings, antitrust, and unfair competition doctrine. These points of departure inform how the law can and should inform market disruptions, especially when the government has insulated an incumbent player from competition.


A better understanding of the unfranchised competitor doctrine provides broader lessons for how property law and equity doctrine can shape today's marketplace. It highlights the shift in regulation of "big tech" companies towards private regulatory enforcement. And it presents a variety of competition law, operating outside of the consumer welfare paradigm, that provides leverage for a variety of stakeholders.

The study is the first of its kind to be conducted in Dubai. It details racial and class discrimination experiences perceived by Pakistani cabbies from passengers. Since Dubai is a cosmopolitan city, the people it hosts and hence passengers in taxis belong to a plethora of distinct nationalities. Previous studies akin to this topic reveal that South Asian and other minority drivers in Western cosmopolitan cities such as Toronto and New York face voluminous instances of race and class-based discrimination – sometimes morphing into physical assaults. After conducting qualitative interviews of 19 Pakistani taxi drivers, it was revealed that Dubai diverges from this unsettling trend experienced in the West. Analyzing the interviews led to the creation of three broad categories, which elucidated that racial discrimination faced by the drivers was little to none, while class discrimination was present but only to a limited degree. Most drivers asserted that a high percentage of their passengers are well mannered and that the main issues they face stem from some permutation of the RTA (Road & Transportation Authority), taxi companies, and police. This latter revelation displays contours of apparent systemic discrimination and should be studied formally.

For-profit “ridesharing” services (or soft cabs) offer on-demand rides much like taxicabs, but are distinguished by an affective framing which emphasizes that drivers are “friends with cars, on demand” rather than “cabdrivers.” This reframing is achieved through the insertion of smartphones as social interfaces between drivers and passengers, restructuring social interaction through an allegorithm (the productive co-deployment of a socially relevant allegorical script and a software-mediated algorithm). Much of the affective labor of these drivers consists in maintaining this affective framing and internalizing the logic by which their performances are monitored through the work platform. In this article the writings and videos of three soft-cab drivers will be drawn on to illustrate the ways drivers develop and evaluate their own performances as "ridesharing."

Purpose

The objective of the study is to investigate and critically analyze the sustainability of bicycle taxi transport as informal business operation, the operators prevailing challenges and its contribution to sustainable urban transport and tourism development in Mzuzu City, Malawi.

Design / Methodology/Approach

The study was conducted with ten bicycle taxi operators, road users, and two city council and two government authorities in Mzuzu City, Malawi. The sampling technique for bicycle taxi operators was random to collect primary data whereas authorities from city council and government used a representative sampling technique to collect both primary and secondary data type (rules documents and regulations as well as by-laws). The research used both questionnaire and in-depth interviews. In this case, mixed method approach suited very well with a small sample in a small tourist city.

Findings

The empirical results reveal that bicycle taxi operators are called periodically by road traffic officials and provide them with an awareness on how to operate on the roads within the city. It also reveals that there is no law that restricts operators from riding a bicycle in the city. Furthermore, reveals that bicycle taxi operators do not cause accidents, but rather accidents are caused by several factors, among them: pedestrians, drunkards, not following rules and regulation by road users. Therefore, bicycle taxi users vowed to continue using bicycles because there are cheap and can take them anywhere motorized cars cannot reach. Despite a few challenges operators are facing, bicycles transport will be sustained, hence contributing to domestic tourism development.

Practical / Social Implications

The study reveals that bicycle transport should be properly formalized and integrated into urban transport in Mzuzu City which would lead to the creation of an environmentally friendly city; continued provision of affordable public and tourists transport; and improving revenue base for the city council, as they will be able to collect revenue from the operators.

The results of this study cannot be generalized since the researcher focused on one city with a very small population with a small sample size.

Novelty / Originality

There are very few studies or none existing at all conducted in tourism to study bicycle transport sustainability opportunities for tourism development in Malawi, and this may be first of its kind.

Estudio de la regulación en España de la prestación de transporte que realizan tradicionalmente los taxis y que, en la actualidad, cada vez más, también los VUTCs (Uber, Cabify, etc.). El trabajo analiza las razones de la reserva tradicional al sector público de esta actividad económica y si subsisten o no hoy en día las razones que justificaban esa publicación, concluyendo que no y que hay que liberalizar poco a poco el sector, homogeneizando la regulación para taxis y VTCs y dejando como única posibilidad para la limitación del número de licencias los problemas de congestión y de contaminación.
