We are in the middle of a perfect storm that has brought together the chaos and disruption of the Digital Age, the final stages of the Only Money Matters Cycle, and all three variations of Spiral Dynamics' Large-Scale change. This paper examines the trials and tribulations of our socioeconomic journey to second tier values and the corrective actions that organizations and cultures must take to ensure our survival and eventual blossoming into second tier ecosystems.

The book presents a framework for defining the natural evolution of economic systems based on the application of the value system framework. Borrowing from the extensive works of Dr. Clare W. Graves and the theory of Spiral Dynamics, the author builds upon his in-depth knowledge of macroeconomics, financial and real estate markets, and his decade-long experience with Graves’ successor, Dr. Don E. Beck (who wrote the forward for the book), to devise a comprehensive macro-memetic-economic model through which he reframes the United States economy through historical, present and future value systems cycles.

"'When man is finally able to see himself and the world around him with clear cognition, he finds a picture far more pleasant. Visible in unmistakable clariry and devastating detail is man's failure to be what he might be and his misuse of the world. This reveladon causes him to leap out in search for a way of life and a system of values, which will enable him to be more than he has been. His values now are of a different order from those at previous levels: They arise not from selfish interest but from the recognition of the magnificence of existence and the desire that it shall continue to be.

Sport: the Treasure of TemperanceThe modern lifestyle, with its emphasis on enjoyment and immoderation, could lead a human being to the point where he is not a master of himself anymore. Inner desires and outer pressures force a man to take those actions that are not in accordance with his rational human nature and that are not good for him. According to the classical philosophical view of Socrates, Plato and Aristotle, this clearly shows the inner slavery of modern man. Temperance, moderation or asceticism today seem old fashioned and unnecessary virtues; nevertheless, it is obvious that many problems of modern societies have roots in the absence of these virtues. These problems include a high percentage of obese population, different addictions and other health problems concerning the immoderate life style. It seems that nowadays enjoyment is the highest imperative for the individual and for society as a whole. However, these days it is possible to recognize the revival of these v...

Consumers today are a knowledgeable lot. They know what to buy and how to get the best choice. Their evaluation patterns follow a much more scientific methodology. The basic construct of their choice behavior is based on the premises of getting maximum value for money. However, it is not just the value for money or benefits that the consumer gets from the product that influences his purchase decision. Its also certain other variables, which force him to think away from what seems an apparent action. The effects of culture and value system of an individual on the purchase behavior is one such parameter which has been investigated a lot and a lot more to be evaluated on the same aspect. This is an attempt by the researchers for an investigation of cultural influences on consumer purchase behavior and the psychological processes that intervene the purchase behavior. We have tried to apply the construct of Value Dimension given by Hofstede to the basic purchase model. The paper also tries to review relevant literature and attempts to update the existing model to incorporate these constructs in the most appropriate manner, as was not apparent before

Design’s arguments of innovative transformation and its constant search for a preferred future have become a contemporary principle of the discipline, and yet most design models limit their process to the production of the next stage of incremental innovation. This approach to the future carries significant systemic problems that can go from unexpected behavioral changes to unintended discrimination against certain groups, especially when addressing complex social problems and transformations. Avoiding these systemic problems might require the use of Design Research to study the conditions that produced them. However, design researchers seem to still disagree on the nature of Design Research, and the specific knowledge that can be produced through it. This paper seeks to introduce a possible model for design research that integrates various design theories to help obtain a more sophisticated view of the systemic situation of possible preferred futures. The goal of these process is t...

Forty years ago, Dubai's stages of development, were centered in the Tribal and Egocentric Value Systems. World cultures have historically lingered at these levels of psychosocial development for centuries before their existential challenges propelled them to seek higher complexity. This piece examines how oil wealth falsely attempts to bypass necessary stages of development that build capacities and resilience.

This assignment was meant to challenge our understanding of ourselves, be introspective, acknowledge what values we find important and support the reasons we chose to focus on certain value systems.

South African academics possess a collective value system. However, other value systems impact not only on their value system but also on their academic work. They typically find themselves working in an institutional, a national and an international context, each with its own hierarchy of values. A theoretical discussion of (the role of) values in the academic workplace is followed by an overview of the professional values held by South African academics as measured by means of the Changing Academic Profession (CAP) Survey, which was carried out in 2008. The survey revealed, for instance, a rift between the institutional value hierarchy and that of the academic profession. It can therefore be concluded that many South African academics seem to lead relatively unfulfilled professional lives, among others, because they find themselves working in an environment (various contexts) with many contradictions. These problems should be addressed for the sake of the well-being of both the academic profession and of the higher education sector.

This paper reviews the application of Operations Research to the business organizations to take the effective decisions. To find the reasons for the attractiveness of general business problems to OR researchers, the main type of business decision making problems amenable to OR are identified, and some of the many problems solved by using OR are techniques. While mathematical programming is the most widely applied technique, linear programming, transportation, assignment and simulation methods are increasingly widely used. OR now plays an important role in the operation of business problem solving and this importance is likely to increase, creating the opportunity for OR to play an even greater role. This paper indicates that OR techniques play an important role in business organizations and, with the recent dramatic improvements in the real time availability of data and in computer speed, this role will increase.
