Background  and  Purpose: Studies on entrepreneurship gained attention only thirty years ago and had since highlighted new venture creations and the processes towards quality entrepreneurial growth. Nonetheless, past researches had overlooked e-commerce ventures as one of the aspects of the psychology of entrepreneurship. A critical element in entrepreneurship, an entrepreneur, would be responsible for the creation and establishment of new ventures with suitable personality traits, cognition and motivation. This study, therefore, aimed to describe the importance of personality traits, cognition and motivation that can impact e-commerce new ventures creations in Malaysia.   Methodology: This study was designed as data for this study were collected using interviews on 12 entrepreneurs who ventured into e-commerce. These interviews were carried out from May 2013 to December 2014 using a multiple case study approach. Findings: Results from this study showed that seven personality traits...

Purpose: This paper discusses what is social perception, social perception aspects of non-verbal communication, attribution, and impression formation, and also some suggestions on how social perception affected cultures. Design/methodology/approach: Describe your method here. This research is a literature study research. The first step was to collect literature relevant to the topic. The second step was data reduction, which is reduced data and chosen the main data. The third step was presented the data and the last step was concluded. Findings: Impaired social perception can have serious social consequences. For example, an adolescent boy might misread a girl’s sympathetic smile as a romantic invitation, and proceed to respond in a sexually offensive manner or a child might misread a peer’s teasing gesture as a threat and react aggressively. In these cases, the socially unsuccessful responses were not a result of inadequate social skills. Rather, they resulted from social “misreadi...

Individual taxpayers awareness and compliance are predicted to be below expectations in numerous Indonesian regions, as evidenced by the yearly tax reporting (SPT), which is still below the expected aim. The number of taxpayers who submit the SPT is one indicator of compliance; the higher the number of taxpayers who report the SPT, the higher the level of compliance. The goal of this study is to look into how the Cileungsi Pratama Tax Service Office in West Java, Indonesia, implements annual tax reporting for personal taxpayers. The authors apply Van Meter Van Horn's Policy Implementation Theory to six test variables: standards and policy objectives, resources, inter-organizational linkages, implementing agent characteristics, social, economic, and political situations, and implementer disposition. The qualitative descriptive approach was adopted in this study. Observation, documentation, and interviews were utilised to collect data, which was then analysed through data reductio...

Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) is usually necessary to uncover the right items for inclusion in a research instrument. As a result, this research adapts and modifies an instrument on the risk intelligence construct within small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. The study uses Hawley’s risk theory of profit and employs the EFA to validate the instrument. Our study differs significantly from prior studies regarding SMEs' socio-economic, political, and cultural statuses, among other factors. More importantly, most past research focused on larger firms or used different dimensions. However, the current study uniquely integrates risk perception, risk-taking propensity, and insurance literacy within Nigerian SMEs to close the literature gap. The study adopts a cross-sectional research approach using quantitative data obtained through a structured survey from 370 SMEs across Nigeria's six geopolitical regions. The study tested the validity and reliability of the construc...

Despite the provision of various incentives by the Malaysia Government in encouraging more people to purchase family Takaful as a form of savings instrument and also as a means of risk transfer, the penetration rate is still very low in comparison with other developing economies. There are some factors that lead to this problem. Based on many previous researches, focus have been found on the demographic and economic factors, consumer knowledge, awareness, religious perception, quality of services and relationship marketing as well. It can be concluded that even though some studies have been conducted in the same areas but the factors driving the purchasing decision of family Takaful in this country are still unclear. Therefore, the extension research of family Takaful will be studied to find out the other factors contributing to the purchasing decision of family Takaful in the Malaysia context. The last three decades have revealed the primary elements of entrepreneurship, especially for newly-created venture creation processes, throughout various works and heavy emphasis by scholars. An entrepreneur can be viewed as the principal component in entrepreneurship; they are tasked with creating new ventures, which requires cognitive and personality motivations and specific competencies to achieve such aim. Prior scholars investigating the elements of entrepreneurial psychology have succinctly viewed the general process of new venture creation, whereas e-commerce ventures have been disregarded. Furthermore, such works have expended the least efforts on entrepreneurial competencies resulting in e-commerce new venture creations. Accordingly, this study is attempting to bridge such gap and aims to distinguish the role played by personality traits, motivation, and competencies that promote new e-commerce ventures creation in Malaysia. To this end, a case study approach was implement...

This study aimed to evaluate the influence of perception towards insurable risks on the general Takaful demand via risk-taking propensity among small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Malaysia. This study presented essential insights that would benefit Takaful operators in determining and enhancing general Takaful demand among SMEs. Studies have identified two major factors of risk behaviour that influence general insurance demand, which are the perception towards insurable risks (independent variable) and risk-taking propensity (moderator). This study presented theoretically significant information on the incorporation of perception towards insurable risks and risk-taking propensity to explain the general Takaful model. For this study, a total of 278 SMEs in Malaysia were sampled. All gathered data were analysed using AMOS for the testing of hypotheses. The results of structural equation modelling (SEM) revealed perception towards insurable risks as the key factor that drives the ge...
