In the investigation on the psychological type of Jesus in The Antichrist, Nietzsche will resort much more to terms and concepts common to the psychiatric literature of the late nineteenth century rather than data historiographical, archaeological or exegetical. It is in the study of the phenomenon of hyperexcitability and in its progressive hereditary condition, characteristic symptom of physiological degeneration, that Nietzsche found in the work of French physician Charles Féré, that the philosopher will seek to establish the physiological fundamentation for his considerations about the psychological type of Jesus, classified

In The Antichrist, Nietzsche appoints philology and physiology as the knowledge able to reveal the true nature of Christianity. Philology, in particular, is the main instrument by which the philosopher uncovers the great psychological corruption that lies behind the Gospel texts. Christianity inherited and improved the art of falsification of historical reality elaborated by the Priestly Code, adulterating the type of Jesus and denaturing the natural sense of his practice. For Nietzsche, Petronius represents, on the other hand, all innocence and health of the ancient world that Paul wanted to destroy with his falsity, as a means to achieve power.

The present paper has as purpose to discuss what is the possible place that the works of Dostoevsky, mainly the novel The idiot, occupies in the diagnostic gave by Nietzsche to the psychological type of the Redeemer, classified by him as idiot. We sustain that in spite of the discussion about if Nietzsche had direct or indirect contact with the novel The idiot, it’s possible to establish an analysis of prince Myshkin as a clinical model of extremely importance, rather than any other of Dostoevsky’s character, to throughout evaluate the diagnostic of Jesus gave by Nietzsche.

Although the investigation of the psychological type of the Redeemer is acrucial element for the project of the Transvaluation of all values realizedin The Antichrist, since such investigation provides a counterpoint to theresentful kind of décadence, Jesus and his evangelical practice does notrepresent, however, the target that the Nietzschean philosophy releases asa proposal, that is, Jesus does not correspond to a model for a highest typeof man that Nietzsche’s philosophy aims to cultivate. However, the relativepositive aspect of the interpretation of Jesus made by Nietzsche is veryoften confused with a kind of devotion. The final correspondence betweenNietzsche and his old friend, Malwida von Meysenbug, offers an importantinsight into this issue.

In 1888, a last movement is produced within the philosophy of Nietzsche.Following numerous readings and research, he redefines the nature ofChristianity, as well as its role in philosophy and history. In order to betterbe able to come close to what has become his main adversary, Nietzsche willoperate a historical deconstruction of the Ancient and New Testament. Thushe distinguished in The Antichrist, the historical figure of Jesus, which heconsiders as a buddhist idiot, of the mythical figure of the Christ, the ideal ofChristianity. His Antichrist, a new variation of the theme of the Dionysian, will to oppose to this christic figure, a source of heresy.

This Dissertation aims to present the diagnosis of the psychological type of Jesus given by Nietzsche in The Antichrist. According to Nietzsche, one of the theses for the solution of the problem about the genesis of Christianity is in understanding how the psychological type of the redeemer has been adulterated by the ecclesiastical Christianity. The type of Jesus is classified by Nietzsche as idiot, namely, a man who has a degenerate physiological constitution, which makes him unable to obtain a natural growth; bearing a morbid sensitivity to pain, this type finds itself unable to make contact with reality, leading him to turn over into his own interiority, opposing no resistence to the external threats. The evangelium of Jesus represents a natural and not resentful practice to décadence through the acceptance of their physiological conditioning, such practice has been corrupted by ecclesiastical Christianity as a doctrine of salvation of the soul, by which life is denied in its totality.

Nietzsche ends the section 30 of The Antichrist with the following statement, which reinforces the thesis that the evangel of Jesus is the result of a morbid hyperexcitability and a will to pleasure proper of weakness: “– The fear of pain, even of infinitely minute pain – that can end in no other way than in a religion of love...” To understand this sentence, it is necessary to turn to the posthumous fragment 14 [130] of spring of 1888, in which Nietzsche did a sketch of an attempt of a demonstration of this argument.

SENA, Allan Davy Santos. Nietzsche e a moral da compaixão. 2006. 54 f.
