Polyamory. Loving More than One A biographical portrait of non-monogamous relationship cultures In the mainstream of academic Psychology, the concept of the monogamous relationship between two people is rarely called into question. The work at hand will fill a gap in this respect and should be understood as a contribution toward establishing academic openness to the concerns of polyamorous human beings. Interviews were conducted over Skype as the method of compiling data and their phenomenological premises as well as those of interaction and communication theories were reconstructed according to the narrative data analysis of Schutze (1983). The biographies of one woman and one man stand in the forefront. It holds true for both interview partners that they oriented themselves toward a monogamous relationship model and processed the same during biographically significant phases of their early adulthoods. Writing about artists' life stories is an old tradition in the West. Giorgio Vasari is
known as the first art historian who has written a book about life stories of artists. Thus,
art history has always been related to biographies of artists in one way or another since
Renaissance. Writing biographical novels of artists are partially more new and there are
many of them in 20th century. In our country there is almost only one artist who has been
written novels about and he is Sinan the Architect. In this research, biographical novels
about him has been examined and status of biographical novel has been evaluated in
terms of art history.

Esta tesis doctoral, La biografía moderna en España (1926-1936), se propone el estudio del género de la biografía como parte de las escrituras biográficas (biografismo) que notaron un especial auge editorial durante la década anterior a la Guerra Civil en España. Se trata de una investigación de la historia de la literatura española a través de
este género que surge y se desarrolla en estos años, como respuesta a la recepción de modelos extranjeros. Se estudiará igualmente la influencia del género en diferentes modalidades coetáneas de prosa de ficción (biografía novelada y novela pseudobiográfica).
Para ello se abordará la recepción de los modelos extranjeros en la crítica literaria española de la época y la versión al español de dichos modelos. La práctica biográfico-literaria española no puede comprenderse sin la atención a los primeros aspectos teóricos sobre los géneros biográficos en España, por lo que haremos referencia a ellos en diversas ocasiones a lo largo de los capítulos siguientes. Es algo
conocido pero poco estudiado el hecho de que el mercado editorial español dedicara una atención especial a las biografías literarias y las biografías noveladas durante estos años.

Ahmet Hamdi Tanpınar, edebiyat araştırmacılarının en çok rağbet ettiği yazarlardan biridir. Edebiyatın birçok alanında eser vermenin yanı sıra edebiyat tarihçisi yönüyle de dikkat çeken Tanpınar’ın hayatı ve sanat anlayışı, Yeni Türk edebiyatı araştırmacısı olan Prof. Dr. Murat Koç tarafından dikkate değer bir kurguyla romanlaştırılmıştır. Eine Antikritik auf Bourdieus Kritik am biographischen Schreiben
Im Aufsatz wird versucht, grundsätzliche Kritikpunkte Bourdieus am biographischen Schreiben zu entkräften und dazu geeignete theoriebasierte Erwiderungen anzuführen, die dieser Methode der Geschichtsschreibung neutral bis positiv gegenüberstehen. Am Ende steht die Frage, ob Bourdieu mit seiner siebenseitigen Kritik tatsächlich biographisches Schreiben im modernen Sinne oder vielmehr die veralteten Formen der beinahe hagiographischen Lebenserzählungen im Blick hatte, als er 1986 die »biographische Illusion« verfasste.

An Anticriticism on Bourdieu’s Critique of Biographical Writing
The essay seeks to invalidate Bourdieu’s critique of biographical writing and to cite appropriate theory-based responses that are neutral or positive to this method of historiography. In the end, the question arises as to whether Bourdieu’s seven-page critique actually focused on biographical writing in the modern sense or rather on the obsolete forms of almost hagiographical life-stories when he wrote his »biographical  illusion« in 1986.

L'opera di Primo Levi è come una costellazione, ricca di luci e profondità. Questo Album ne disegna gli addensamenti e ne esplora gli spazi. In ogni sua pagina le immagini, inedite per una quota notevole, si aprono su mondi sempre diversi: e dialogano con brani dello scrittore – notissimi o ignoti, ma sempre di icastica brevità – popolando di cose, personaggi, domande e pensieri questo libro.
Un sottile filo narrativo accompagna il lettore aiutandolo a orientarsi tra i fatti. Al centro del discorso spiccano due nomi: «Auschwitz» e «Carbonio». Intorno al primo si concentrano l'esperienza del male estremo vissuto dall'umanità nel secolo scorso, e le riflessioni che Levi andò svolgendo da «Se questo è un uomo» a «I sommersi e i salvati». Ispirate al secondo, le suggestive tavole di Yosuke Taki illustrano il racconto cosmico-visionario sulla nascita e sulle incessanti trasformazioni della vita posto a suggello del «Sistema periodico».
A corona di questo centro l'Album offre una rappresentazione articolata (e fitta di documenti, episodi e scritti inediti) di quattro azioni che costituiscono altrettanti pilastri dell'opera di Levi uomo e scrittore: l'atto del «Cucire molecole», essenza della sua professione di chimico, e quello del «Cucire parole», decisivo nel lavoro quotidiano del narratore, del creatore di linguaggi e dell'appassionato di giochi linguistici. E poi l'«Andare in montagna», coraggioso fino alla temerarietà nel ragazzo che amava sfidare la natura e che nel 1943 scelse di slancio la lotta partigiana in Valle d'Aosta. Infine, la pratica del «Pensare con le mani», così naturale per ogni essere umano, in primo luogo nell'agire lavorativo, eppure così generalmente trascurata dalla letteratura.
Anche in questo l'Album si propone di mettere in risalto gli aspetti più originali dell'opera di Levi, qui considerato come un grande scrittore letto oramai in tutto il mondo, ma anche come un uomo di pensiero fra i più sensibili alla vita concreta del mondo di oggi.

Fin dal titolo e dalla premessa, provocatoriamente intitolata L'emulo di Cornelio Nepote, le Vite degli uomini illustri di Campanile esplicitano il riferimento parodistico alla biografistica classica. Il De viris illustribus infatti è tra l'altro uno degli esempi più rappresentativi di quel tipo di biografia "esemplare" e paideutica che, sfociando spesso nell'aneddotica, conobbe grande fortuna nell'Italia postunitaria e fascista. Proprio questa impostazione è fatta oggetto dell'ironia di Campanile (cresciuto appunto in quel contesto culturale), il quale fa anche lui ampio ricorso all'aneddotica. Se infatti nei casi più semplici l'effetto comico nasce da un puro gioco linguistico (vedi i virtuosismi sulla polisemia dei nomi di Tasso o Volta), per molti personaggi l'autore si concentra invece su un dettaglio aneddotico che viene esaminato con logica tanto implacabile da risultare assurdo e quindi ridicolo ("Il pappagallo di Alessandro Magno", "Dante e l'uovo"). Non mancano comunque biografie vere e proprie, sebbene stravaganti: biografie paradossali perché interamente sottoposte a questo caustico scetticismo ("Palamede", "Casanova") o perché rilette in funzione di un solo dettaglio ("Vita di Socrate", "Lord Brummel"), o addirittura rovesciate ("La scoperta dell'Europa"). Nel nostro intervento ci proponiamo di esaminare questi vari procedimenti e di valutare la loro componente autenticamente "biografica" e il loro rapporto con la tradizione delle biografie moralistiche. El documento es una autobiografía descriptiva paradigmático-unidimensional aperiódica.  Es unidimensional, por cuanto el autor presenta su propia historia de vida en torno a un unico componente:  el conjunto de indicadores de su actuar público-intelectual 1968-2018 en apoyo a la lucha por el cambio estructural mexicano y mundial.    Es paradigmática, porque NO hay una narración propiamente dicha, sino que la autobiografía se esboza a partir de listados de su obra, agrupados conforme a la motivación de la creación de cada elemento compoonente y al uso que se le dió en tanto sustento de la lid por la transformación cualitativa de la sociedad. Resulta aperiódica debido a que  NO hay una periodización  y ni siquiera una cronología de lo presentado.  Y es descriptiva porque sólo se presenta la “ficha bibliográfica” de cada obra, en la vasta mauyoría de los casos con su “link” al text completo de la mísma: hay ausencia total de elementos interpretativos de los factores contingenciales y vivenciales de la realización de tal o cual estudio y de la publicación de los resultados obtenidos. El lector queda, así, en libertad absoluta de reagrupar todo o partes de los listados, de acuerdo a cualquier otra o misma caterogización.  Asimismo, tiene la posiblidad de enriquecer y criticar el documento que se presenta aquí, comp producto del abordaje de los niveles de conocimiento interpretativo, predicitivo y aun evalualativo.

This document is a descriptive, paradigmatic, unidimensional, non periodical autobiography. It is unimensional, in the sense that the author presents his own life story, in terms of a unique component:  the set of indicators of his 1968-2018 public, intelectual support of the Mexican and worldwide structural change.  It is paradigmatic due to the fact that there is no narrative, as such.  Instead, the autobiography is outlined, based on listings of Gamboa's works, grouped according to reasons for the creation of each composing element and to its use in terms of support to the strife for society's qualitative transformation. Non periodicity is due to the fact that there is no periodization whatsoever; not even a chronology is presented.  And it is descriptive because it only presents the “bibliiography card” of each work, containing links to free  full text in the vast majority of cases. There is absolute absence of explanation elements of contingency and life factors for realization of this or that study and for the publication of results obtained.  The reader, therefore, is free to recathegorize all or parts of listings provided, in accogdance to any other cathegorization or grouping list.  It is also possible to enrichen and criticize the document hereby presented, as a result of working in the interpretative, predictive or even assessment knowledge levels.

En este trabajo presento una serie de aspectos del método biográfico —o método
de las historias de vida— que suelen surgir durante procesos de investigación y
acerca de los cuales los/as investigadores/as deben poder tomar decisiones fundadas.
Me detengo en distinciones terminológicas, diferencias con áreas fronterizas
—como el enfoque narrativo o la literatura— y en la relevancia del método para la
ciencia social. Analizo el «problema» de la objetividad y de la representatividad y
la disyuntiva entre (sólo) presentar o analizar el material generado. Comento algunos
criterios para la elección de un/a «buen/a» informante, las estrategias de producción
y análisis de la información y la cuestión de la (des)confianza en los relatos
de informantes e investigadores/as. Mi objetivo es plantear —no resolver— estas
cuestiones, con el fin de que sean tenidas en cuenta en la toma de decisiones
durante los procesos de composición de una historia de vida.

"A mi me ensenno a leer y a escribir", pone el claro Magali, "mi abuela Isolina Diaz de Ramis, Cuando tenia como tres años, mi hermano mayor con cinco años de edad entro en kínder y empezó enseguida a a leer y a escribir, lo que produjo en mi unos celos horribles porque quería ir a la escuela, tener bulto y crayolas". Insiste en que estaba tan desesperada por acudir al colegio que "mami o mis tías me consigueron una pizarrita pequenna para calmar mi inquietud. Así, que mi abuela, que me cuidaba por el día, me fue ensennando las letras mientras cocinaba y preparaba la casa. A partir de entonces decía que sabia leer y nadie lo tomaba en serio, hasta que un día "estaba con mi madre en la parada 20 esperando la guagua y le dije "Mami yo se leer", y mami "Umju" e insisti "Mami ahí viene una guagua y dice Ro-o-se-velt" y ella me corrigió "No, ahí dice Roosevelt (con pronunciación inglesa)". Y allí mismo quede aturdida, porque era la primera vez que leía en publico y resultaba que lo que había leído fonéticamente no era espannnol. Era Rusvel y era la guagua de Roosevelt, la 14. Ingreso al kínder a los cuatro para cinco, "porque mi cumpleannos es en septiembre y me permitieron entrar un mes antes de cumplir la edad reglamentaria de la Academia del Sagrado Corazón de la 19 en Santurce". Recuerda que habían monjas y maestras. "Pero yo no me acordaba de mi maestra de kínder no de primer grado hasta que hace como tres o cuatro años se me presento, cual aparecida y dijo "Yo fui la maestra de…" y es verdad, estaba idéntica, habían pasado cincuenta años y la señora seguía igualita. Me luce que tenia unos diez años cuando empezó a dar clases. Pero las maestras que mas recuerdo de la escuela primaria son las de segundo y cuarto grado, que fueron algo así como las formadoras." En segundo tuve de maestra a una tal Mrs. Saiz, "que era una señora de mucha compostura, muy agradable, muy dulce y también muy seria, Quizás me recordaba a mi familia, un mundo de personas muy serias, trabajadoras y muy dadas a lo correcto, y por ello me provocaba mucha seguridad y además, nos ensennaba canciones y nos ponía a leer. La maestra de tercero según ella fue "horribel, si mal no recuerdo se llamaba Mrs. Rivera, que inferia que nos habían ensennado a escribir de corrido y a pesar de no ser cierta su presunción porque no nos habían ensennado esa destreza, a ella no le importo nada, las cosas tenían que ser como ella entendía que debian ser y nosotros que nos fastidiaramos. Su estilo era lleno de antagonismos, su trato fue bastante cruel y me sentía tan insegura que me la pase llorando prácticamente a diario todo el tercer grado. Era un llanto que sentía por dentro".

Menzhulin V. Biographical approach within the historiography of philosophy: the main tendencies and landmarks of creation.

The article is a short version of the research on the development and establishment of biographic approach within the historiography of philosophy. It outlines the main tendencies and landmarks in the formation of the attitudes towards biographic components of the history of philosophy from Antiquity to present. The special attention is paid to the particular models of mutual infl uence and interaction between the biographies and philosophic views within such infl uential approaches as Hegelianism, neo-Kantianism, philosophy of life, psychoanalysis, Marxism, hermeneutics, existentialism, structuralism and poststructuralism, pragmatism and neopragmatism, analytical philosophy, new historicism. Стаття є стислим викладом результатів дослідження, присвяченого становленню й утвердженню біографічного підходу як форми історико-філософського пізнання. Схарактеризувавши основні тенденції та віхи у розвитку уявлень щодо біографічних складових історії філософії від античності до сьогодення, автор аналізує конкретні моделі взаємодії філософії та біографії в рамках таких впливових напрямів модерної думки, як геґельянство, неокантіанство, філософія життя, психоаналіз, марксизм, герменевтика, екзистенціалізм, структуралізм і постструктуралізм, прагматизм і неопрагматизм, аналітична філософія, новий історизм.

Narracja to słowo wyjątkowo często używane w naukach społecznych. Zasadniczym celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi badaczy społecznych, głównie socjologów, na problemy teorii
narracji. Narratologia stanowi bowiem ważne źródło inspiracji dla socjologów. Istnieje wiele perspektyw i podejść analitycznych do pojęcia narracji. W tym artykule jest ono rozpatrywane z  perspektywy  myśli  socjologicznej  inspirowanej  przez  fenomenologię  i  hermeneutykę.
Narracja z pewnością nie powinna być postrzegana jako synonim innych pojęć, gdyż ma własną historię i swoiste znaczenie. Autor wskazuje jednak na możliwe na gruncie socjologii związki między narracją i historią życia (biografią) jako dwoma różnymi, ale wzajemnie na siebie oddziałującymi pojęciami.

Summary
The word ‘narrative’ is used unusually often in the social sciences. The basic aim of  this article is to draw the attention of social researchers, particularly sociologists, to problems with
narrative  theory.  Narratology  constitutes  an  important  source  of inspiration  for sociologists. There  are  many  perspectives  and  analytical  approaches  to the  theory  of  the  narrative.  In  this article, it is viewed from the perspective of sociological thought inspired  by phenomenology
and  hermeneutics.  Narration  should  certainly  not be  perceived  as  synonymous  with  other notions, as it has its own history and meaning. The author points, however, to the possibility of  a  link,  on  sociological  grounds,  between
narrative  and  life  history  (biography)  as  two different but mutually interacting ideas.

What do Socrates, Hypatia, Giordano Bruno, Thomas More, and Jan Patocka have in common? First, they were all faced one day with the most difficult of choices: stay faithful to your ideas and die or renounce them and stay alive. Second, they all chose to die. Their spectacular deaths have become not only an integral part of their biographies, but are also inseparable from their work. A "death for ideas" is a piece of philosophical work in its own right; Socrates may have never written a line, but his death is one of the greatest philosophical best-sellers of all time.

Dying for Ideas explores the limit-situation in which philosophers find themselves when the only means of persuasion they can use is their own dying bodies and the public spectacle of their death. The book tells the story of the philosopher's encounter with death as seen from several angles: the tradition of philosophy as an art of living; the body as the site of self-transcending; death as a classical philosophical topic; taming death and self-fashioning; finally, the philosophers' scapegoating and their live performance of a martyr's death, followed by apotheosis and disappearance into myth.

Los alumnos como indicio: Conversacion con Piculin Ortiz. "Lo bien hecho necesita tiempo. Lo mal hecho es irreversible. "Como no ser prudentes?" Mundo de Hombres, Zhuang Zi Mi nombre de pila es Jose Rafael Ortiz Rijos y lo de Piculin, se trata de un apodo desde la infancia que todavía me acompanna como atleta profesional. Tengo 40m años y soy aibonitenno, aunque mi familia es cayeyana por los dos lados y yo, envidentemente, me crie en la llamada ciudad del Torito. Mis padres German Ortiz y Elba Rijos, todavía residen allí, Un matrimonio compuesto por dos maestros, ella esennaba primer grado de elemental y el, matemáticas en la escuela secundaria. Ambos manifestaron en el ejercicio del magisterio una autentica vocación de servicio, solidaridad y compromiso. Mami siempre estuvo con nosotros en todo lo relacionado con lectura y conocimientos y cultura en general, por esos creo que fue con ella que aprendí a leer y a escribir porque ella daba lecciones a sus discípulos de primero y además, tenia un grupito de kínder a los que iniciaba en el mundo escolar. De pequeño yo era el menor de sus alumnos y como no tenia quien nos cuidara, ella cargaba con nosotros dondequiera que se dirigiera, así que, de una forma muy natural, me fui convirtiendo en su estudiante en esos primeros grados. Durante los annnos de infancia vivíamos en una urbanización donde los propietarios eran casi todos maestros y mucho de ellos se conocían porque laboraban en las mismas escuelas. Un ejemplo de eso lo vivimos en casa: en la escuela donde papi ocupaba su puesto de maestro, ensennaba un vecino, Roberto Rivera Miranda, y el hermano de mi mama, Francisco Rijos era profesor de español. Roberto Rivera fue una persona que influyo bastante en mi vida porque estuve alrededor de el y su familia. Nos llevaba a jugar beisbol, también al rio a pescar con mi papa. Al mismo tiempo ellos tres se convirtieron en un grupo e hicieron tropa de niños escuchas y necesariamente fui uno de sus miembros desde cobito. Ese triumverato facilito que los cinco nenes de German, los cinco de Francisco y los siete de Roberto se mantuvieran juntos a diario, porque esos tres padrazos le dieron continuidad a nuestras inquietudes y los detalles mas sencillos de nuestra vida cotidiana. Nos organizaban los estudios y promovían la diversión sana y el deporte. Yo siempre estaba con mi papa viendo o participando en actividades deportivas. Íbamos a los juegos de las ligas doble A de pelota y a los de softball que practicaban los propios maestros contra otros equipos de colegas o de estudiantes. Para entonces prefería montarme en mi bicicleta y retozar y pasar el tiempo aventurándome en los jueguitos de niños. No obstante, mas tarde participe un poco en lo que era para mi el recreo de la pelota porque a papi le gustaba, y ciertamente era el deporte nacional. El baloncesto no era todavía un gran deporte en Cayey. Llego la época de la intermedia y sigo en la misma escuela con mi papa, mi tio y Roberto Rivera Miranda. Integrado a ese núcleo continuo de los mismos maestros y el mismo grupo de muchachos y de familiares del vecindario. Fui criado bajo el régimen de la buena educación de solo decir si o si, porque si era no era había inmediatamente un cocotazo al centro de la cabeza, y nada de malas caras porque nadie se enojaba por eso. Ya en estos grados de séptimo, octavo y noveno me mantuve un poco en la pelota pero no me entusiasmaba mucho y comenze a probar otros deportes. Pero Roberto hizo una liguitas de beisbol y allá nos llevaba para que jugásemos aunque yo era malísimo. Me gustaba mas el softball porque era mucho mas fácil pero nada me salvo de incursionar en la liga juvenil y de practicar como lanzador, luego como receptor, de todo! y no pude seguir porque simplemente no me gustaba. This article addresses a complex heritage configuration in the northern part of the alpine Adriatic region, taking a relational approach to landscape, memorials, and actors. Albeit shaped by wars, population exchanges, and multiple emigrations, this border area is primarily represented as static in Austrian, Italian and Slovenian national heritage discourses. An ethnographic exploration into silenced memories of mobility reveals a dynamic, outward-looking cross-border setting. An analysis of biographical memories and artistic initiatives leads to three modes of un-silencing, which affirm inhabitants’ right to dwell and traverse dominant representations of ethnic belonging and exclusion, mobility and settledness, and mono- and multilingualism.

This paper is part of a research study undertaken with Portuguese teachers. The main objective is to understand the impact of recent educational legislation on the quality of teaching and the professional development of teachers. In this context the following research questions were formulated: ‘Do the education policies of the government encourage teacher development?’, ‘Will opportunities for teacher development be created in schools?’, ‘Will the goal of improving the quality of teaching be achieved in education contexts sustained by teaching mal-aise? ’ This paper seeks to explain the perceptions of elementary school teachers recounted in written and oral biographical narratives and in three discussion groups set up for the purpose. The professional experiences recounted by the teachers suggest outcomes different from those foreseen by educational policy-makers, thus emphasising the weaknesses and inapplicability of the core objec-tives established by recent Portuguese legislation.

Objectives: This article aims to elaborate chronotope disruption - a changed relation to time and space - as a sensitizing concept for understanding chronic illness narratives. Methods: Sixteen men and 16 women with Type 2 diabetes were purposefully sampled. Each was interviewed about his or her experience of diabetes self-management using the biographical-narrative interview method. Transcripts were inspected for key moments defined as emotionally laden stories relevant to the purpose of the research. We present dialogically inflected discursive analysis of exemplar extracts. Results: The analysis demonstrates how the concept of chronotope disruption helps identify, and understand, important aspects of patients’ chronic illness narratives. First, we investigate how medical advice can conflict with embodied experience and how progressive bodily deterioration can provoke a reevaluation of past illness (self-mis)management. Second, the increasing temporal and spatial intrusion of chronic illness into participants’ lives is examined. Finally, we focus on the masquerade of health as an attempt to manage, hide, or deny that one is physically challenged. Conclusions: Chronotope disruption offers a useful sensitizing concept for approaching chronic illness narratives and around which to organize analytical insights and to develop practice. Chronotope analysis fills an important gap in the science
through compensating current health sciences’ focus on rationality, cognition, and prospective time (prediction) with a patient-oriented focus on emotionality, embodiment, and retrospective time (nostalgia). Chronotope disruption could be used to develop practice by gaining empathic understanding of patients’ life-worlds and provides a tool to examine how new technologies change the way in which the chronically ill have “being” in the world.

A través de un relato etnográfico y dos narrativas biográficas, en este artículo la autora se propone ilustrar la manera en que una entidad diagnóstica siquiátrica es lugar privilegiado para el análisis de ciertos aspectos socioculturales involucrados en la experiencia de la enfermedad mental. Servirán para este objetivo, las historias de Ángel (de 15 años) y Rosario (de 75) (nombres  ficticios), pacientes diagnosticados con trastorno obsesivo-compulsivo (TOC) y hospitalizados en dos clínicas psiquiátricas privadas de la ciudad de Bogotá. En ambos casos, reluce el sustrato mágico-religioso como estructurante de su experiencia de sufrimiento, el cual sostiene la característica ritualista de  este trastorno en particular. Como resultado, se demuestra que el sufrimiento como nodo analítico favorece la comprensión de dominios que entrecruzan la vida personal y colectiva.

Son, a día de hoy, pocas las biografías históricas que prescinden en sus primeras páginas de un capítulo introductorio en el que se justifique la elección del personaje y la pertinencia de un determinado enfoque. En ellas suelen abordarse algunas cuestiones metodológicas que, con frecuencia, se limitan a subrayar la reciente redención historiográfica del género biográfico. Parece, sin embargo, evidente que enfatizar la normalización de las biografías en la producción académica actual, tras advertir que durante algunas décadas ha sido un enfoque poco valorado entre los historiadores, no equivale a justificar su validez científica. Las posibilidades de conocimiento histórico que ofrece el análisis biográfico, en definitiva, ni ganan ni pierden por el hecho de que el número de publicaciones con estas características se haya disparado. Más interesante que la mera multiplicación de biografías resulta el paralelo desarrollo de investigaciones sobre las posibilidades heurísticas que ofrece el género. Si puede hablarse de un " giro biográfico " , es precisamente por el desarrollo de una preocupación teórica que no sólo se ocupa de constatar la emergencia de una moda historiográfica, sino de desbrozar cómo abordan su tarea los biógrafos, cuáles son los condicionantes, las particularidades y posibilidades de este enfoque para la investigación histórica o precisar su lugar entre otras disciplinas cercanas. Existe, por tanto, una conexión entre la recuperación de la biografía para la práctica de los historiadores y la proliferación de reflexiones que justifican ese " retorno " , proyectando sus posibilidades y afinando su encaje metodológico. Avanzar en esa línea es el propósito del libro que coordinan Han Renders, Binne de Haan y Jonne Harmsma, tres autores que cuentan con significativas aportaciones a la materia. La que en esta ocasión presentan suma una relevante nómina de especialistas que, desde distintos ángulos, abordan las implicaciones teoréticas del " giro biográfico " tanto en su relación con el público, como en el ámbito académico de las humanidades o en diferentes campos de conocimiento dentro de ese espacio. Parten, para ello, de tres supuestos básicos. La eclosión de la biografía histórica, en primer lugar, ha venido acompañada de un giro metodológico cuyas consecuencias teóricas no han sido afrontadas de manera sistemática. En este sentido, debe darse por agotado el viejo debate de si la biografía pertenece al terreno del arte o al de las ciencias sociales. Todos, por último, asumen la importancia de situar la experiencia humana individual como punto de arranque en la interpretación histórica. Historiar desde la altura del individuo implica reflexionar sobre la noción de agencia individual y su papel en los procesos de cambio. Así lo defiende Nigel Hamilton, autor de dilatada experiencia en el terreno biográfico, que incide, sobre todo, en el valor de la biografía

Partindo da equação teórica entre os conceitos de resiliência, empoderamento
e migração, este texto analisa as formas concretas através
das quais a pesquisa biográfica identifica e constrói processos
de resiliência e de emancipação de migrantes. São apresentados
diversos estudos levados a cabo pela autora em contextos migratórios
diferentes – portugueses em França (Paris), portugueses nos
EUA (New Jersey), e imigrantes de várias origens em Portugal –, para
exemplificar a relação recíproca entre migração, resiliência e empoderamento.
O artigo analisa casos concretos de empoderamento
pela resiliência e vice-versa, focando em processos de biografização
suscitados pela pesquisa biográfica. Aqui, não apenas as entrevistas
biográficas, como textos autobiográficos produzidos pelos migrantes
interlocutores de terreno, e ainda rodas de histórias ou oficinas
biográficas, organizadas pela pesquisadora durante o trabalho de
campo, contribuem para a melhor compreensão dos processos de
resiliência e para a construção de resistências e resiliências coletivas.
O trabalho em análise pode ser útil a todos aqueles e aquelas
que se interessam pela dimensão biopolítica dos relatos biográficos
e pela contribuição cívica da pesquisa biográfica na construção de
um mundo mais justo e equilibrado.

The problem of how to make the transition to a more environmentally and socially sustainable society poses questions about how such far-reaching social change can be brought about. In recent years, lifecourse transitions have been identified by a range of researchers as opportunities for policy and other actors to intervene to change how individuals use energy, taking advantage of such disruptive transitions to encourage individuals to be reflexive towards their lifestyles and how they use the technological infrastructures on which they rely. Such identifications, however, employ narratives of voluntary change which take an overly optimistic change of how individuals experience lifecourse transitions, and ignore effects of experiences of unresolved or unsuccessful transitions. Drawing on narrative interview data from the [Project Title] project, we explore three case studies where effects of such unresolved transitions are significant. Using the concept of liminal transition as developed by Victor Turner, we examine instances where ‘progressive’ narratives of energy use reduction clash with other ‘narrative genres’ used to make sense of change. These clashes show how narratives which view lifecourse transitions as opportunities ignore the challenges that such transitions may pose to individual identity and thereby to interventions which view individuals as agents of change.

Vouée à intégrer des éléments annexes et hétérogènes, la biographie emprunte ses modalités narratives à différents types de récit. Comme telle, elle apparaît définie paradoxalement par sa plasticité et par son hybridité, ces deux caractéristiques pouvant expliquer aussi bien la difficulté à la définir rigoureusement que sa faible légitimité. Et cependant, cette plasticité même participe de la vitalité de la biographie, qui se réinvente constamment, en se subordonnant à d’autres genres ou, à l’inverse, en annexant d’autres genres. Parmi ceux-ci, le roman occupe une place particulière, comme en témoigne exemplairement la vogue actuelle de la fiction biographique. Consacré aux rapports entre la biographie et le roman depuis la fin du XIXe siècle, ce volume collectif propose un panorama qui conduit de la volonté de régénérer le roman en se tournant vers la biographie, incarnée par les Goncourt ou par Huysmans, jusqu’aux fictions biographiques de Michon ou d’Echenoz.

Steele’s well-researched book convincingly appends the field’s more materialist notions of security, but the merits lie as much with its novel conclusions as they do with the ideas it inspires.  His notions of reflexive self-imaging, for instance, may explain the controversy surrounding the film, "Zero Dark Thirty."

The main of the article is to discuss the question concerning the applicability of The Polish Peasant in Europe and America (1918) by William Isaac Thomas and Florian Znaniecki and Młode pokolenie chłopów [The Young Generation of Peasants] (1938) by Józef Chałasiński, two crucial works in rural and general sociology, the year 2018 marking the anniversary of their original releases, in other areas of humanistic disciplines, with examples drawn from linguistic research. The author shortly characterises and justifies both historical and contemporary relationships between sociology and linguistics both on a general level and in their rural varieties. Cooperation between representatives of the given disciplines is possible on the ground of structuralism and, in fact, is being implemented in many joint research projects. Rural sociology has established itself as a subdiscipline of sociology and has developed its specific thematic and methodological autonomy within the major scope of the field. The existence of ‘rural’ linguistics is not so obvious, but there are certain phenomena and processes observed in rural conditions which justify the use of such a term, although it is not the officially accepted name of the subdiscipline which, in the present article, is defined as ‘linguistic (and sociolinguistic) research in rural area’ with constant references to dialectology.
Such methods as the personal documents method and the biographical method are already present in linguistics and sociolinguistics, although direct references to sociological works (both in general and specifically to both Thomas and Znaniecki’s and Chałasiński’s texts in detail) are rare. Still, some popular linguistic approaches, e.g. language biographies or the use of personal documents as a source of linguistic data, are very close to the ideas postulated by the precursors of rural sociology. There are also authors who have so far used Thomas and Znaniecki’s as well as Chałasiński’s theoretical achievements, and they consciously and directly refer to The Polish Peasant in Europe and America and The Young Generation of Peasants.

The tradition of artists’ drawings in libri amicorum is significant from a social and cultural perspective. In recent research this tradition has been completely marginalized, even though it is a fruitful topic. These drawings give an insight into personal concerns and thoughts of artists, but also into contemporary art theory, which was encouraged by several artists’ sojourns in Italy and France.
