Motivational factors

This study aimed to analyze the motivational factors influencing the teaching performance of teachers in Tuy District, Batangas, Philippines. It utilized the descriptive-quantitative method. One hundred eight (108) teacher respondents were all taken from the population of all Secondary School teachers in Tuy District. Frequency, percentage, weighted mean, standard deviation, spearman rho (rs) and IBM SPSS AMOS 26 were used in the data analysis. Meanwhile, the findings revealed that the teachers are mostly female, have salary grade (SG) 11 and are always motivated in terms of their profession, health wellness, social relationship, and personal attributes. They also have very satisfactory ratings in their Individual Performance Commitment and Review Form (IPCRF). A learning and development framework was proposed to strengthen the teaching performance of teachers in Tuy District.

Purpose: This study analyzes the motivational factors for ISO 9001 certification in Bulgaria from the internal/external motivations perspective, or the so-called dual model. Design/methodology/approach: This study is based on a mixed method research approach, which employed two interviews with experts in the field of quality management at the exploratory stage, and a survey involving 127 companies at the descriptive stage. Anxiety and motivation are indispensable aspects of learning a foreign language (FL). To some extent, students' motivation for Korean language learning can influence their learning outcomes. This quantitative study aimed to look into the relationship between foreign language anxiety and the learning motivation of Filipino students. Through stratified random sampling, 633 college students from Bataan Peninsula State University-Main Campus studying a foreign language (Korean) served as the sample for this study. The sample comprised 58% male and 42% female, mostly belonged at ages 19-24. Data gathered was analyzed using SPSS version 21. Correlation analysis between FL learning anxiety and motivation was implemented. More so, an independent sample T-test and an ANOVA (Tukey-HSD as post hoc) were applied to evaluate FL anxiety and learning motivation differences. The results demonstrated a low-tomoderate significant relationship between language anxiety and learning motivation. Furthermore, there are differences in learning motivation based on sex rather than age. On the other hand, age has no bearing on the two factors in the examination. In conclusion, FL anxiety hinders language acquisition yet students have a positive and motivated outlook toward learning.

Purpose – Little attention has been given specifically to the experience of women social entrepreneurs despite the assumption they are prone to “care”, and even less to their motivations or their self perception of success. This paper aims to provide an insight into the relationship between motivations and social and economic performance among women social entrepreneurs in ten European Union countries.
Design/methodology/approach – This paper classifies the motivations of women social entrepreneurs, drawing on the results of a survey conducted (n = 380) by the European Women’s Lobby. The paper then examines how these motivations relate to self-perceptions of social and economic performance.
Findings – In addition to being driven by self-interest and prosocial motivations, women social entrepreneurs also seek to develop alternative business models. Where a social mission is central, women are likely to feel successful in meeting their social aim; however, there is a strong negative relationship between self-interested motivations and revenue.
Research limitations/implications – This analysis relies on perceptual and self-reported data; therefore, more objective measures should be considered for further research, possibly combined with a longitudinal design. Another limitation of this paper lies in the non-random sampling strategy used to identify a hard-to-reach population such as women social entrepreneurs.
Practical implications – The findings provide a better understanding of the motivations of women social entrepreneurs. This may be useful in assisting funding or support organisations, as well as social investors, evaluate where to best invest resources. In addition, a more nuanced understanding of motivations among women social entrepreneurs can inform policies aimed at supporting women social entrepreneurs, without necessarily being bound by the expectation to maximise economic and/or social outcomes.
Originality/value – This paper demonstrates the centrality of the social mission for women social entrepreneurs. The results also identify “seeking an alternative business model” as a key motivation among women social entrepreneurs, thereby breaking existing conceptualisations of entrepreneurial motivations on a binary spectrum as either “self-interested” or “prosocial”. The paper also shows that having other than prosocial motivations for becoming a social entrepreneur does not necessarily lead to higher economic revenue.

This study determined the extent of influence of motivating factors towards learning Mathematics on pupils’ academic performance. The pupils studied were from Cantil-e Elementary School in the Division of Dumaguete City for School Year 2016-2017. Some 73 Grade Five Pupils were taken in as respondents. The study was descriptive in nature. It utilized the percentage, mean, and the Spearman Rank Correlation Coefficient for the statistical analysis. The study revealed that the following motivational factors are moderately related with the pupils’ academic performance: performance goal, achievement goal, and learning environment stimulation. On the other hand, the pupils’ academic performance was found to have a “Weak” degree of relationship with self-efficacy, active learning strategies and Mathematics learning value. Findings of this study also revealed that the pupils’ profile has a “Weak” degree of relationship to the overall motivating factors. Also, the study found a “Moderate” degree of relationship between the extent of influence of motivating factors towards learning Mathematics and the pupils’ academic performance.

This article examines the demographic characteristics, motivations,
and expectations of participants in a crowdsourced off-road traffic
law reform in Finland. We found that the participants were mainly
educated, full-time working professional males with a strong
interest in off-road traffic. Though a minority, the women
participating in the process produced more ideas than the men.
The crowd was motivated by a mix of intrinsic and extrinsic
factors. Intrinsic motivations included fulfilling civic duty, affecting
the law for sociotropic reasons, to deliberate with and learn from
peers. Extrinsic motivations included changing the law for
financial gain or other benefits. Participation in crowdsourced
policy-making was an act of grassroots advocacy, whether to
pursue one’s own interest or more altruistic goals, such as
protecting nature. The motivations driving the participation were
in part similar to those observed in traditional democratic
processes, such as elections as well as other online collaborations
such as crowdsourced journalism and citizen science. The crowds’
behavior was, however, paradoxical. They participated despite the
fact that they did not expect that their contributions would affect
the law.

Background: The present study aimed to identify teaching styles and determine their correlation with autonomous motivation among the faculty members of two universities in Tabriz, Iran. Methods: This cross-sectional study was conducted among 305 faculty members of humanities, basic sciences, engineering, agriculture, and medical sciences departments at Tabriz Universities. The samples were selected through stratified random sampling during the first semester of 2018-19. Research instruments included the Staffordshire Evaluation of Teaching Styles questionnaire, and the Autonomous Motivation for Teaching questionnaire. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation, MANOVA, and Friedman tests in SPSS v.23. All statistical tests were conducted at a significance level of 0.05. Results: A significant difference was found among faculty members in the "all-round flexible and adaptable", "official formal curriculum", "straight facts, no nonsense", and "big conference" styles (P<0.05), but they were not significantly different in "sensitive student-centered", and "one-off" styles (P>0.05). There were positive correlations between external motivation on the one hand, and all-round flexible and adaptable, official formal curriculum, and one-off styles on the other (P<0.001), and negative correlations between external motivation and straight facts no nonsense style (P=0.001). Positive correlations were also found between internal motivation and student-centered (P=0.001), big conference (P=0.002), and one-off (P=0.003) styles, and between identified motivation and student-centered, straight facts no nonsense, and big conference styles (P<0.001). Besides, internal motivation was negatively correlated with all-round flexible and adaptable (P<0.001), and official formal curriculum (P=0.003) styles, and intrinsic motivation was positively correlated with studentcentered (P=0.001) and big conference (P<0.001) styles. Conclusion: Correlations were established between teaching styles and autonomous motivation for teaching, so that productive styles, such as the "sensitive student-centered" teaching style, were mostly correlated with intrinsic motivation, and reproductive styles, such as the "big conference" teaching style, showed correlations with external types of motivation among faculty members.

They also have very satisfactory ratings in their Individual Performance Commitment and Review Form (IPCRF). There is no significant difference on the motivational factors that influenced the teaching performance of teachers when profile is considered. There is also no significant difference when profile is considered on the Individual Performance Commitment and Review Form (IPCRF) rating while there is a significant relationship between the motivational factors influencing the teaching performance of teachers and the IPCRF rating. A structural model must be implemented to strengthen the teaching performance of  teachers in Tuy District.

The purpose of this study was to reveal the reasons why teacher candidates attending the faculties of education have preferred the teaching profession and the explanatory relations between those reasons. To this end, 801 students who are attending the elementary school teaching departments of 6 state universities were included in the research. Mercenary, altruistic, intrinsic, and extrinsic reasons that are effective with preferring the teaching profession are the latent variables of the research. The model developed to verify the relationships between those variables was tested. According to the findings, the intrinsic and altruistic latent variables have a highly positive relationship. The extrinsic variable has a negatively significant relationship with the intrinsic and altruistic variables, while a positively significant relationship with the mercenary variable. The mercenary latent variable has a positively significant relationship with all other variables.

Introduction: Effective human force is a major factor in continuity, success, and realization of organizations’ goals and it is always found in the literature on management. Furthermore, high service leave rate is an indicator of undesired function of organization’s management in keeping the human force. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of the number of motivational factors on retention and loyalty of nurses.
Methods: This research was a descriptive survey and an applied reseach in accordance with the objectives. Among 800 nurses at Milad Hospital, 260 nurses were selected through systematic random sampling, according to the Morgan table. A 68-item researcher-made questionnaire was used in this research and its content validity was obtained by gathering the opinion of professors and specialists and its reliability was examined via Cronbach’s Alpha, which was 0.797, 0.745, and 0.782 respectively for motivational, loyalty, and retention factors. At first, the Kolmogorov Smirnov test (K-S) was used for determining the normal distribution of data, and the regression test was used for determining the effect by SPSS Version 22.
Results: The results showed that motivational factors were effective on retention with a correlation coefficient of 0.759, and on loyalty with a coefficient of 0.795. Priority of occupational factors on retention was 0.778 while priority of individual factors on retention was 0.750. The priority of organizational factors on retention was 0.529, organizational factors on loyalty was 0.790, individual factors on loyalty was 0.709, and occupational factors on loyalty was 0.583.
Conclusions: According to results, there was a relationship between motivational factors (occupational, organizational, and individual factors) and retention and loyalty of nurses. It is recommended for the managers of hospitals to provide the required mechanism for improving occupational factors, such as diversity of skills, job identity, independence and feedback for increasing the retention of nurses of the hospital and consider organizational factors, such as environmental conditions, rewards, and supervision supports for increasing nurses’ loyalty. In this regard, hospitals should consider motivational factors in macro policy-making related to nurses to be effective in increasing the retention and loyalty of nurses along with realization of the goals of hospitals.
