Amid the emergence of the 21st century, a new era of modern business has set in India. Liberalization and globalization of Indian economy have provided challenges and opportunities to our new business and which has necessitated re-engineering of the present management education system. Recently, Union Budget is also decreasing the fund for higher education in India for the last five years. This research is focused mainly on existing problems and challenges which are needed to be addressed and seeks to provide the solution thereabout. At present in India, there exists three-tier management education administration i.e., Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), Entrepreneur's and prestigious industry run best management institutes and management departments of Universities. Besides this, private B-Schools and non-statutory business training institutions also impact business education leading to MBA degree or PGDM diploma. Unfortunately, most of the students don't get the job in the completion of the course. In most of the cases, even the best student doesn't cater to the needs of the market because in the formal education system the gap between what is taught and what is demanded by the market is evident. Hence, an urgent need to rethink and redesign the management courses has arisen. It discusses the rationale of re-engineering of the whole management education system i.e, Admission, Instruction, Infrastructure, Regulation, Examination, Certification, Training and Placement etc.

The European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Model® self-assessment tool has been used extensively in the UK private sector and increasingly in the state sector to raise standards. Furthermore, the European Quality Assurance Reference Framework identifies its use as best practice. However, only 2% of FE Colleges in the UK currently use the Model®.
Mixed methods were used to investigate quantitative evidence from a national on-line Leadership and Management survey sent to all UK FE Colleges and qualitative evidence from semi-structured with 42 senior managers, quality managers, consultants and staff. Six case studies of EFQM Award-winning Colleges were also investigated. The findings indicate a positive correlation between a) the use of the EFQM Model® and the achievement of Grade 1s in inspection and b) between the achievement of Grades 1s in inspection and Category A financial status. Across the four UK regions, the most effective use of the Model® is currently occurring in Scotland’s FE sector.
The study highlights the need for leaders to take a long-term approach to achieving excellence through using the EFQM Model® and embedding its underlying principles of Total Quality Management. The main outcome of the study is Cartmell’s “Three-Layered Egg” Model which identifies strategic, tactical and operational priorities, enabling leaders to achieve world-class standards through a process called “Questing”.
The EFQM Model® could be applied to FE Colleges, but there are cultural and environmental factors which are hindering its applicability including decreases in funding; rapid changes in the 14-19 and post-19 landscape; increased numbers of mergers, acquisitions and restructures; tightening inspection frameworks leading causing pressure to increase success rates; increased competition for students; lack of effective leadership; low staff morale; mobility of senior managers; pressure on leaders to produce short-term improvement; the significant resource implications involved of using the Model® and lack of direction and support from government.

Six Sigma is a quality improvement tool to measure the process outputs for error reducing system. It aims to maximise customer satisfaction and minimise defects in products and services. To enhance the quality and meet customer expectations, it is necessary to bring in innovation. This paper presents a brief overview of Six Sigma, its tools and how it can be applied in the secondhand bookstore industry by using principles of enhanced productivity as well as process quality management in a well-defined framework. This study contains a survey of 180 college students (Our target customers) understanding their view on New books vs Secondhand books, the difficulties they face and their view in the implementation of the proposed innovation to improve quality in service as well as maximise customer needs. The proposed new solution will be explained through DMAIC methodology and its superiority to the pre-existing model, and also its benefits to both customers and sellers.

Pojęcie to sukcesywnie, chociaż powoli, zaczyna funkcjonować w świadomości polskich przedsiębiorców.

The focus in this paper is on integration and combination, as two important concepts in management systems. In this paper, a definition of integration and combination as related to business management is proposed. The lack of resolution can be extrapolated to basic dissimilarities in the competing resource-based perspectives on strategy and the application of strategy typologies based on those standpoints. A comprehensive literature review will be conducted. The authors identify a high-level meta synthesis of integration and combination definitions as related to business management. The findings argue that there are remarkable differences, but also similarities between the analyses of Schumpeter and Anderson's theories of integration and combination.

This study focuses on the Kano model which is used to categorise requirements of customers. The study describes the three most frequently used modifications of the Kano model and then systematically analyses the key effects of these modifications. A new approach – Type IV – is then proposed. Using Type IV, it is possible to eliminate the disadvantages identified in the abovementioned existing approaches – the level of accuracy for the producer and the difficulty of the method for the customer. The proposed approach is based on a modification of the process of requirement categorisation intended to minimize the discrepancy zone between the calculated and the real position of a particular requirement. The Type IV Kano model is then validated by using an example of categorisation of requirements for after-sales services in the car industry. Validation found that the approaches proposed in this study significantly improve the accuracy of requirement categorisation without increasing difficulty for the customer.

Based on the principles of the human capital theory, this study investigates the role of the quality management system (QMS) in higher education institutions (HEIs) in developing successful employability attributes among graduates. Considering industry as a prominent stakeholder in academia, the authors took industry-academia collaboration as the mediating variable. Using the European Foundation for Quality Management model, the author analyzed how QMS in public HEIs located in London, the United Kingdom (UK), impacts business management, computer science and engineering students' employability. Following the nonprobability convenience sampling technique, this study included data from 324 local and international students. The structural analysis identified QMS as a significant factor in enhancing students' employability, and industry-academia collaboration is found to act as a partial mediator in this relationship. The management of HEIs in developing countries can take valuable guidelines from this study and integrate QMS in their institutions in developing their students' employability, as it is being done by HEIs in the UK.

The perception of word " quality " is different for different people. But largly quality is synonymous to excellence, value to customer, conformance to specifications and standards, conformance to requirements, fitness for use, and ultimately to customer satisfaction. Total Quality Management (TQM) refers to company-wide quality assurance from suppliers to customers using system approach of documented sets of procedures and control of process variability in a team sprit with top management commitment. TQM makes entire organization to rethink and rework its existing systems, processes, culture, communication and customer care with a view to transforming the organization to enable it to cope with the changing context of global competition and become people driven, customer focused and quality commited organization. Deming Awards are termed as the Nobel Prize in the world of manufacturing. The Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) Started the Deming prize in 1951. Initially, this prize was open only to the Japanese industry, but in 1985 it was open thrown open to the rest of the world. From 1998 onwards, Indian companies started winning Deming prize. This research article focuses on studying and analyzing Indian manufacturing companies catering to different industrial sectors, who have won Deming award in last decade in terms of total quality management, operational excellence and financial performance and the lessons that can be learned in terms of Total Quality Management by other manufacturing companies in India from these Deming Award winners from India.

This study examined the use of acceptance sampling technique as an efficient tool for quality assurance in deciding whether a given lot of product is to be accepted or rejected in the market. This study designed two single sampling plans with a sample size of 125 from a lot of size 1350 bread loaves and an allowable number of defectives as 4 and 6 (i.e. c=4 and 6). The result indicated that the probability of rejecting the manufacturers' product of good quality by the consumers is about 0.371 (producers risk, α=0.371) with the first plan of c = 4. However, the second plan proved more efficient in controlling quality in the industry with c = 6, the producers risk, α=0.235 with the least average total inspection value. The continuous improvement and review of acceptance sampling plan is important to improve the products quality and ensure continuous customer satisfaction.

ARTICLE INFO Introduction Effective communication in a project plays a significant role in the quality and timely delivery of project activities in an organization (Nsefu et al., 2020: Mwanaumo, et al., 2018). Developing a robust infrastructure system that can successfully contribute to economic development and poverty reduction, project managers must focus on delivering their projects on time, ABSTRACT The concept of time and quality management is highly connected to project performance and success. The importance of adopting appropriate tools and techniques of managing effective communication in projects can be understood through the delivery of high-quality services. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between effective communication with quality and timely delivery of project activities. The study"s aim was achieved through the assessment of the relationships between effective communication with project quality outcomes and management of project timescales. To attain the research objectives, both primary and secondary data were collected using semi-structured questionnaires and interview guides consisting of closed-ended questions. The study employed a sequential explanatory research design where respondents involved in Bank of Zambia projects and other projects were meant to provide answers from questionnaires and interviews which were later analyzed by the researcher. The study results from regression analysis revealed the presence of a strong and positive correlation between effective communication and project success with the coefficient of determination of 82.4% which was explained by the effective communication effect on project success. The hypothesis test results showed that effective communication was significantly related to quality and timely delivery of project activities, with 4.24 as the average and 0.69438 as the standard deviation obtained from the sample size of 75. It was found that effective communication in projects should effectively be applied to maximize the quality of project outcomes and timely delivery. Thus it was recommended that a model developed for implementing effective communication in projects be adopted with room for other researchers to develop it further. The findings from this study, the proposed solutions, conclusions and recommendations are expected to improve the performance of projects. Furthermore, there are situations where the use of project management tools in the book of PMPBOK has not maintained achievement of the project success, therefore, this study will also contribute to the body of knowledge on the communication methods to use in achieving the project objectives efficiently and effectively.

Today, some twenty-two of the world‘s elite twenty-five research universities are located in one country. [29] He adds that it is not surprising that research on innovation has gained importance, it has become essential to understand why and how certain enabling environments encourage innovation and help optimize its various benefits. Among other things, research can identify how knowledge translates into innovative action and how diversity can drive positive change. In addition, one of the ways in which universities assure quality and acquire recognition in their home countries and abroad is through accreditation and certification. So, universities seek quality certifications differentiate themselves from the many institutions that are offering degrees and diplomas which have become commodities in the market economy. [29 ] say that Higher education institutions, and the people who study, teach and do research in them, are urged to place their intellectual capacities at the service of society, in order to defend ethical values such as peace, justice, freedom, equality and solidarity. And add development addresses the areas which are absolutely central to the future of most higher education institution. Consequently, the changing context for quality assurance innovation performance and enhancement in education presents both an opportunity and a challenge because it offers the possibility of integrating sustainable development into all quality systems.

At present, natural fiber reinforced polymer matrix composites have received wide attention of the researchers from all over the world because of their outstanding advantages of environment friendliness, biodegradability, recyclability, cost-effectiveness and comparable physico-mechanical properties. Among various natural fibers easily available to human beings, Water Hyacinth (Eichhornea crassipes) is one of the cheapest fibers which have not been systematically explored so far. Water Hyacinth can be used as filler in composites materials in various polymer matrices. In this study, an attempt has been made to fabricate Water Hyacinth fiber based polymer composite and evaluation its impact behavior. For this composite preparation, Water Hyacinth fibers were used as reinforcement and the epoxy resin (ADR 246 TX) was used as the matrix. The fabrication of the composite is done by using hand layup techniques. The composite thus made was tested for its mechanical properties like hardness test and charpy impact test. The results showed that Water Hyacinth fibers presented a competitive reinforcement quality when they were compared with other natural fibers, as such jute, abaca, and rice straw.

The purpose of this paper is to address a perennial question regarding the importance of soft total quality management (TQM) as part of the TQM implementation process – a topic that has been significantly understudied. Specifically, the authors address previous calls in the literature for stressing the soft aspects of TQM and for drawing a critical success factor (CSF) list that is formulated on the basis of empirical research instead of theory. The study identifies 12 soft CSFs, and while most of these factors have been well-documented in the literature (e.g. top management involvement and leadership), the authors show evidence for the existence of other soft constructs that have not been considered or have been given little importance previously (i.e. middle management involvement and support, reward and recognition, CSR focus). To the authors’ knowledge, this is the first (international) study to investigate TQM implementation within the context of Japanese SMEs.

This paper highlights inception with immense importance of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) policy to promote the concept of best practices benchmarking. The Benchmarking is an increasingly popular tool applied in particular area of Higher education and is used extensively by both Developers and Providers. Best practices are those which adds the value to human life and support main cause of an institution. It helps in development of an institution as source/means to perform and undertook social responsibility. Now a days, due to increasing competition, demands for accountability and higher volumes of available information are changing the methods of how institutions of higher education operate. For higher education to enact substantial and sustainable changes in efficiency and productivity a new way of thinking or paradigm that builds efficiency and a desire for continual learning must be integrated into institutional structures. Tools are also being developed that measure or benchmark the progress and success of these efforts. Among the improvement strategies and techniques, benchmarking has emerged as a useful, easily understood, and effective tool for staying competitive.

WHITEPAPER Companies, as part of their digital transformation, embrace Enterprise Quality Management Systems to help migrate from paper based, be-spoke/non-integrated systems to a unified platform providing capabilities to automate key QMS processes across the organization. As such, the question that often asked is, which solution(s) should I start with? The typical consultant response would be, "Start with where you believe the maximum pain for the organization is and evolve from there". This approach makes perfect sense if the focus was to solve a specific problem that the organization faces. However, to effectively implement a new Quality Management system, it is important for an organization to identify and build the right foundation first and then build the rest of the QMS on it. This approach will not only solve the problems that the company faces in the right model but also provide an approach to roll-out a strategy that is sustaining, well adopted and is longer lasting.

Most of the MSMEs have inadequate implementation of modern technology compared to large enterprises. Therefore, management technique i.e. TQM has been introduced to implement in MSMEs for establishing a good quality management system, developing human resources and increasing business performance. Despite the reasonable benefits of total quality management (TQM) joined by quality specialists and practitioners, these benefits are difficult to achieve in practice. Many MSME has found it difficult to implement TQM successfully. This research was conducted in MSMEs in JALGAON. The purpose of this paper is to understand TQM barriers and prioritize their relative importance by ranking them in the MSME. The questionnaire was used as a tool for collecting data in this research. This section indicates certain presumable difficulties acting as a barrier in implementing TQM principles. 8 presumable difficulties were mentioned in the questionnaire and response was to be given about the degree of agreement on a five-point scale. It was observed that 'resistance to change' was considered to be the most significant barrier in the way of TQM.

Total quality management (TQM) gained popularity in large enterprises since its inception. However, small to medium enterprises (SMEs) still lag behind when it comes to the successful implementation of TQM in their entities. This study is based on the premise that SMEs do not have adequate implementation of TQM in their business operations. This may negatively impact on their performance and profitability. Therefore the research question that emanates in this study asks: to what extent do SMEs implement TQM in their business operation? The authors adopt a quantitative approach with the use of questionnaires to collect data from SMEs in the manufacturing sector and franchises in Cape Town, South Africa. The major findings indicate that SMEs that implemented TQM in their operations were more successful than those that did not. The majority of the SMEs still need to adopt this approach to enhance their business performances. It is recommended that SMEs should not only focus on cost red...

It should be been within the interest of any university to know and ensure quality in the teaching and assessment of its students. The services offered by universities include; teaching of students, undertaking research and offering community service. These to be attained effectively, universities should institute quality assurance systems in order to ensure that they offer quality services to their stakeholders. This paper highlights, the implementation of internal quality assurance systems in universities in Uganda, and the region as a means of improving the teaching and learning of the students. It has been observed that many universities in Uganda and in the region have not enhanced their quality assurance systems, and thus offering pitiable services to their stakeholders. Research has shown that putting in place functional internal quality assurance systems is the only way universities can advance and also enhance quality in the services they offer. Some universities in Uganda and in the region have been found to lack the will of advancing and enhancing functional quality assurance systems despite having the means. On the other hand, though some universities have the zeal to implement and operationalize quality assurance systems, they lack adequate resources while quality assurance is attached to a price. It is recommended that universities in Uganda and in the region should ensure that quality assurance systems are in place and also, allocate adequate resources to quality assurance activities within their universities.

Purpose: The primary purpose of this paper is to identify the most important factors related to the successful implementation of TQM in the literature and to compare the identified factors with the existing research. Methodology/Approach: By conducting a systematic literature review in three main stages, this research analyzes 13 empirical papers published between 1995 and 2017. Three main stages included: formulation of the problem to be solved by the systematic literature review; definition of inclusion criteria and exclusion of articles; and article search and selection. Findings: Analysing previous research and conducting a literature review, we identify six main critical success factors (CSF): top management leadership and commitment, customer focus, training (employees), procurement management (suppliers), information and analysis, and process management. Research Limitation/Implication: In this paper, we focused solely on the influence of TQM practices on the financial performance of a company. As such, the non-financial performance indicators were not considered. Originality/Value of paper: This paper adds value to the existing literature as it focuses on critical factors of TQM implementation examined in relation to the financial performance of the company and provides a good basis for understanding and developing more complex models.

Findings – Findings indicate that all of the first latent constructs are significant where E-CS and E-CL (dependent variables) are influenced by E-SQ (independent variable). Using SEM, statistically fit structural model was developed on the basis of confirmatory factor analysis. The analysis shows that there is a strong positive relation between E-SQ and E-CS and E-SQ and E-CL.
Practical implications – Asian markets have been identified as the fastest growing e-commerce markets in present era. Similarly, retail sector in Pakistan is booming, at the same time an exponential increase is being observed in the number of internet users and online shopping. It is important for marketers and retailers to explore new horizons and enter the age of e-commerce for expansion of their businesses.
Originality/value – The increasingly wide use of the internet is influencing everything around the globe and these emerging e-commerce trends have tremendously changed the mode of shopping from brick and mortars to e-stores. The study explores the e-commerce and focuses on E-SQ and its impact on E-CS and E-CL in the context of a developing economy, i.e. Pakistan, uncovering the key dimensions and attributes.

Due to the increase in business competition, firms are now working hard to design and implement such strategies that can provide them competitive advantage over others and fulfill all international and local standards that can satisfy the customers. In this context, Total Quality Management (TQM) is a management framework which is being adopted by many companies to help them in achieving business excellence. It is the way of improving and managing the efficiency, usefulness, flexibility, cohesiveness and competitiveness of the company as a whole. As TQM facilitates build a culture of trust, contribution, collaboration, quality excellence, passion for continuous improvement, constant learning and an environment where every stakeholder participates toward company’s prosperity, existence and success (Yusof, & Aspinwall, 2000). Quality control usually being merged quality assurance, but both of them reflect different processes, where quality control inspects the manufactured good regarding its functions and specification, while quality assurance tries to determine the defect free manufacturing process and also eliminates the defected good from the production line. In Snowball Engineering, the quality of automotive parts should be considered as one of the most important aspect in order to become a market leader amongst the automotive parts manufacturers. The quality can only be maintained and improved if the Snowball Engineering emphasizes on key elements of TQM which are mentioned further.

In the current economy characterized by increased competition, quality represents a fundamental condition for the competitiveness of firms producing goods or providing services at global level. Obtaining competitiveness implies a permanent adaptment of the management procesesses of the organizations to the market conditions and consumer demands and requires the adoption of a systemic quality control concept, which refers not only to the productive activities, but to all their functional departments. The purpose of this article is to discuss the concept of quality from the perspective of business competitiveness and, furthermore, to examine the evolution of ISO certifications for management systems. The ISO 9000 series are standards based on the idea of continual improvement, that establish the requirements for a quality management system, allowing businesses and organizations to improve their process performance, organizational capabilities and customer satisfaction. The permanent improvement and adaptation of this quality standard to the economic turbulences are the subject of this study. Using methods of qualitative research, this paper analyses the evolution of ISO certifications for management systems worldwide emphasizing on ISO 9001. The interest shown by organizations to continuous improvement of quality is due to an external threat generated by real or potential market losses caused by poor quality. Therefore, quality is considered a strategic contribution that can not be neglected in order to achieve competitiveness.
