In dieser Seminararbeit (!) argumentiere ich, dass Platon zwar relativ zu seinen zeitgenössischen Denkern aus liberal-feministischer Sicht progressiv war, aber dennoch nicht als liberaler Feminist bezeichnet werden kann. Meine Hauptargumente beziehen sich auf die Annahme, dass Platons Idealstaat a) autoritäre, statt liberale Züge aufzeigt b), dass sich Platon dementsprechend nicht die 'Befreiung' der Frauen im antiken Athen zum Ziel gesetzt hat, sondern die Erstellung eines möglichst effizienten Staat und c),  dass die Akzeptanz der allgemeinen Unterlegenheit der Frau als Grundgesamtheit mit feministischen Überzeugungen in toto nicht vereinbar ist.

The challenge facing a country from the so-called south, such as South Africa, is to secure the highest quality of leadership for the economy in general and for the public service in particular. El objetivo del presente trabajo es evaluar la Mision Barrio Adentro (MBA), iniciada en la Republica Bolivariana de Venezuela en el ano 2003. Metodologia: realizamos la evaluacion conceptual de la politica y calculamos (mediante estimaciones curvilineas ajustadas a funciones lineales) las tendencias de las series cronologicas de las tasas de mortalidad infantil, neonatal, posneonatal y de ninos entre 1 y 4 anos para los periodos 1999-2002 (antes de la MBA) y 2003-2009 (despues de la MBA); luego, comparamos su comportamiento. Tambien calculamos la asociacion entre las tasas de mortalidad antes mencionadas y la variable dicotomica que indica la presencia de la MBA en la serie de datos. Abstract
El pensamiento griego estuvo atravesado desde los orígenes por enfoques optimistas en el terreno del conocimiento que propusieron vías para alcanzarlo y a la vez por otros que se instalaron en la sospecha y enfatizaron los aspectos de precariedad y limitación del saber humano. Platón encarna un paradigma de los programas filosóficos que, contra las vertientes escépticas, conciben el conocimiento como un logro que los hombres pueden lograr. En su perspectiva esta empresa implica avanzar por zonas escarpadas y conflictivas cuya complejidad teórica determina que no puedan estar sujetas a una descripción llana, sino que se deba recurrir a símiles alegóricos que sugieran, antes que mostrar, la meta a la que se dirige el filósofo. El sol, la línea y la caverna son claves, con buena cuota de suspenso y enigma, para esta búsqueda. La importancia de este recorrido radica en que sólo el saber que espera al final de las andanzas justifica el sistema político integral que Platón propone para edificar un Estado sobre principios de justicia cuyo gobierno está en manos de filósofos, hombres que sabrán arbitrar las cuestiones del ámbito circundante porque han accedido al conocimiento de sus modelos inteligibles.

Ahora bien, después de esto –dije–, compara nuestra naturaleza en lo tocante a la educación y la ignorancia con esta situación. This article presents and analyses the perspectives of a number of politicians and academics in Lesotho concerning the relevance and role of chieftainship as an institution in the political system of the country. The study was conducted in response to attempts in 2005 by the Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD) government to devolve political power and the on-going debate in academic and policy circles on the value of the institution of chieftainship in democratising systems in Africa. Evidence from the field is presented relating to how chieftainship is perceived by politicians (usually but wrongly regarded as competing with the chiefs for political power) and academics in Lesotho, and also to how chieftainship can co-exist with elected councils to consolidate democracy. "İhtilaflı demokrasi" olarak adlandırdığı yeni bir demokratik anlayış çerçevesinde sosyal demokrasiden ulus-devlete, sivil direnişten ayaklanmaya kadar uzanan yeni bir siyasi-devrimci hattın olanağını araştırıyor. Hem devlet, hem kamu hem de halk düzlemlerinde demokrasinin demokratikleştirilmesi ve demokrasiden kopuş süreçlerini ayrıntılandırıyor.

"Demokrasinin demokratikleştirilmesi sürekli bir dönüşümü anlatır ve fiili siyasi pratiklere göre bir farkı belirtir. Siyasi pratikleri, mevcut kurumlardaki demokrasi eksikliği ile açıkça yüz yüze gelecek ve onları az çok kökten dönüştürecek şekilde yerinden eden bir "diferansiyel"dir [farklılaştırıcıdır]. „Die sicherste allgemeine Charakterisierung der philosophischen Tradition Europas lautet, dass sie aus einer Reihe von Fußnoten zu Platon besteht“, lautet das vielzitierte Diktum Whiteheads.  Martens stimmt dem Urteil bei und ergänzt, „dass Platons Philosophie ihrerseits, wie jede andere auch, nur aus einer Reihe von Fußnoten zu Sokrates besteht“.  Warum sind so viele Fußnoten notwendig? Ein Blick in die Rezeptionsgeschichte zeigt, dass schon die erste Schülergeneration vor großen Verständnisschwierigkeiten der Platonischen Philosophie steht. Diese hermeneutische Herausforderung wird insbesondere an der sogenannten Ideenlehre sichtbar, die für Denker von der Antike bis heute zum Anknüpfungs- und zugleich Kritikpunkt der Beschäftigung mit Platon geworden ist. Was ist eine Idee und was ist ihre philosophische Funktion?
„In meiner Jugend nämlich, o Kebes, hatte ich ein wunderbares Bestreben nach jener Weisheit, die man Naturkunde nennt; denn es dünkte mich ja etwas Herrliches, die Ursachen von allem zu wissen“ (Platon, Phaidon 96a). Mit diesen Worten leitet Sokrates im "Phaidon" einen Rückblick auf den Beginn seiner philosophischen Forschungen ein. Bei seiner Suche nach den Ursachen von allem wendet er sich zunächst der zeitgenössischen Wissenschaft, der περὶ φύσεοως ἱστοριαν, zu. Nachdem sich deren Theorien aber als ungenügend erwiesen, stellt der junge Sokrates die These auf, dass die Teilhabe an den Ideen die Eigenschaften der Dinge begründe (Platon, Phaidon 99d-102e). Als so genannte Ideenlehre wurde diese These durch Aristoteles geschichtsträchtig Platon zugeschrieben, obwohl schon der junge Sokrates im Dialog "Parmenides" zugeben muss, dass die Idee zwar notwendig, aber unmöglich ist (Platon, Parmenides 128e-135c). Sokrates findet nach einigen Zwischenstufen eine eigene Lösung der Ursachenfrage, die in Platons Tugenddialogen vorgeführt und in den berühmten Gleichnissen der "Politeia" reflektiert wird. Die Idee ist dabei eine gänzlich andere geworden.
Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit dieser Erfindung der Idee durch den jungen Sokrates, deren Kritik durch Parmenides und der neuen Lösung dieser Probleme. Im ersten Schritt rekonstruiere ich die Einführung und Problematisierung der Idee im naturphilosophischen Kontext anhand einschlägiger Passagen aus dem "Phaidon" und "Parmenides" rekonstruieren. Darin wird die Idee als eine Annahme des jungen Sokrates eingeführt. Unabhängig von einer möglichen eigenen Theorie scheint Platon den Leser also darauf aufmerksam machen zu wollen, dass eine so verstandene Idee nicht seine Erfindung und ggf. auch nicht das letzte Wort dazu ist. In einem zweiten Schritt arbeite ich die Verwendung der Idee durch den älteren Sokrates im ethischen Kontext anhand von Passagen aus den Tugenddialogen und der "Politeia" heraus. Dieses Ideenverständnis stellt Platon als eine spätere Position in Sokrates Bildungsbiographie dar. In systematischer Perspektive ist hier zu fragen, ob dieser Ansatz über die Probleme des ersten Verständnisses hinausgelangt.  Abschließend stelle ich als ein synoptisches Ergebnis der Untersuchung meine Deutung der Idee als das unterstellte Verstehbare vor.

Therefore, the question arises whether Machiavelli is related to Aristotle, and if so, in which context.

Many fragments of the answer come from Friedrich Mehmel; the latter wrote a treatise on both of them in 1948, which has remained largely undiscovered until today.

Neste trabalho, trataremos da família e de sua composição: pai, mãe, o indivíduo e seus irmãos na República de Platão, mais especificamente nos livros II, III, IV, V e VIII. Também veremos casos mais específicos de família, tomando a comédia de Aristófanes, chamada As Nuvens, como fonte. Mas não apenas isso, pois, o segundo grande ponto deste trabalho será a natureza da constituição de um Estado, ou, cidade, uma pólis grega. Veremos como Platão funda uma cidade que considera a melhor e a mais justa diante das outras. Dentre essas outras teremos: a timarquia, a oligarquia, a democracia e a tirania. Para este assunto, não só Platão será objeto de estudo. Será também Heródoto, no terceiro livro de suas Histórias. Todos esses autores são helenos que viveram entre os séculos V e IV A.E.C.

La justicia es la máxima valía de un pueblo. Los griegos de la Antigüedad, desde tiempos remotos hasta Aristóteles, se ocuparon por encontrar un sentido pleno a la cuestión de la justicia. Este escrito, tomado de la investigación terminada Las virtudes del gobernante según Aristóteles, presenta la evolución de la justicia en el marco de la sociedad y el
orden griego, pero especialmente, en el orden del marco de la sociedad griega antigua, con el fin de describir las líneas generales que deben orientar a un Estado o polis.

A lo largo de su historia, la democracia ateniense encontró diversos modos de oposición que pusieron, en mayor o menor medida, en peligro su persistencia. Frente a esas amenazas reales, potenciales y, en algunos casos, imaginarias, la demokratía puso en práctica una multiplicidad de dispositivos orientados a garantizar su propia conservación.
En base a ello, en la presente comunicación analizaremos de qué manera el régimen político ateniense se organizó para cumplir con dos objetivos estrechamente entrelazados: a) evitar las concentraciones de poder consideradas excesivas en tanto que pudieran resultar contradictorias con el principio de la isonomía; y b) desarrollar una identidad y uno modelo de comportamiento cívicos tendientes a favorecer la unidad y el compromiso de los ciudadanos frente a las amenazas a la democracia. El miedo a la tiranía, en tanto sentimiento generalizado, constituyó un dispositivo dinámico que se amoldó a las diferentes coyunturas favoreciendo la consecución de los objetivos enunciados.

Resumen. La μικτὴ (o μεμειγμένη) πολιτεία, el ordenamiento constitucional mixto, es aquel que combina de manera sabia y proporcionada elementos de los regímenes políticos puros o simples (monarquía, aristocracia y democracia) como garantía de estabilidad y de paz interna. Esparta, que siempre sedujo a los constructores de ciudades ideales, será el primer ejemplo de una larga lista de estados en la historia del pensamiento occidental de esta suerte de ἀρίστη πολιτεία, de "Constitución" óptima, atemperada, modélica, pero al mismo tiempo ilusoria. En el presente trabajo examinaremos el destacado papel que juega Esparta en la génesis y el desarrollo de esta teoría política en la tradición griega clásica y helenística.
Abstract. The μικτὴ (or μεμειγμένη) πολιτεία, the mixed Constitution, is one that wisely and proportionally combines elements of pure or simple political regimes (monarchy, aristocracy and democracy) as a guarantee of stability and internal peace. Sparta, who always seduced the ideal city builders, will be the first example in a long list of states in the history of Western thought of this sort of ἀρίστη πολιτεία, of optimal, tempered, and exemplary (but at the same time illusory) Constitution. O homem prudente é aquele que aperfeiçoou a sua capacidade de deliberar e escolher sobre questões práticas. A princípio, podemos pensar que ele delibera sobre as coisas convenientes para ele mesmo. Com os conceitos de prudência política e, sobretudo, de prudência legislativa, Aristóteles pensa a prudência também como a base das boas constituições políticas (politeiai), enquanto o homem prudente passa a ter domínio sobre a arte de legislar. Pretendemos, neste texto, mostrar que a ação legislativa do homem prudente é decisiva para a elaboração as boas constituições políticas. ABSTRACT: In the Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle defines the concept of prudence (phronesis) as practical wisdom at the same time as a rational virtue linked to action (praxis) ethics. The man of prudence (phronimos) is the one who perfected their ability to deliberate and choose on practical issues. At first we think it deliberates on the convenient things for himself. Above all through political prudence concepts and the concept of legislative prudence, Aristotle thinks prudence also as the basis of good political constitutions (politeiai) from the time the prudent man (phronimos) shall have dominion over art to legislate. Our intention in this paper is to demonstrate that the legislative action of the prudent man is decisive for the development of good political constitutions.

In the Laws, Plato elaborates a project of founding a political regime (politeia) of a normative character that, being supported by the development of a complex legislation, establishes as its main scope the promotion of excellence or virtue (arete). One of the most striking features of this project is its religious teaching and theological discourse. These are assumed as mechanisms to ensure the authority and effectiveness of the norms and moral values responsible for maintaining civic order. They confer on the model politeía that we find in the Laws a theocratic dimension. The present article seeks to analyze these theoretical elements, in order to highlight the essential connection between politics, morality and religion established by them.

This article reports on a study that explored the role of middle managers in executing organisational strategies in the local government sector. The study adopted a qualitative research method, using a local authority council (LAC) in Namibia as a case study. Interview information from ten middle managers, selected using purposive sampling, formed the basis of this study. A theoretical framework consisting of four research focus areas was used. The study found that middle managers interpret, communicate and translate organisational strategic goals into actions in their value-adding role as champions, synthesisers, facilitators and implementers. It also found communication and the availability of resources to be key enabling factors, whereas systems, structures, policies and communication channels are key processes impacting on the effective execution of corporate strategies. Menurut Aristoteles tujuan negara adalah kesempurnaan masyarakat sebagai masyarakat,yang diutamakan itu masyarakat dan kebahagiaan manusia tergantung daripada kebahagiaan masyarakat.
