CATUBANGAN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

A NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE SCHOOL-BASED FEEDING PROGRAM

In order to intensify health and nutrition among grade school children,


Catubangan Elementary School as spearheaded by Sheila Ivy P. Guyud, School
Head and with the SBFP Coordinator in running targeted supplementary
feeding program for wasted and severely wasted children of this school. The
project which was launched on the 11 th day of November 2020 aims at reduction of
acute malnutrition among grade school children.

Ms. Ivy Joy Hommoc-Salazar, the SBFP coordinator of the school, together
with the assistance of Ms. Sunshine M. Bello, co-teacher threshed-out those who
were severely wasted and wasted pupils from Grade I to Grade VI levels. There
were 24 recipients of the program.

Due to pandemic, the school decided to purchase the Php 12, 500. 00 (SBFP
fund) into goods such as Bear brand swak, Yacult, Dutch mill, and biscuits for each
recipient. Before giving the goods to the recipients’ parents, they were oriented
individually about the feeding program of the department and informed of their child’s
nutritional status, program objectives and purposes which they would take part. It
was explained that due to pandemic, the school decided to give goods to recipient
instead of a meal. They were also instructed to pick up goods every Monday of the
week.

The teachers packed and distributed the goods to parents. They also advised
the parents to reprimand their children about handwashing before eating the goods
provided for them and to keep their bodies clean, brush their teeth and to have a
regular exercise.

The school feeding program ended on the 7 th day of December 2020.
