Industrial sector

The Nigerian industrial sector performance has remained far from impressive despite efforts to advance it. Industrial clusters have, however, thrived in the face of deindustrialisation in the country. This study probes the link between cluster-based policy and industrialisation adopting Nnewi Automotive Component Industrial Cluster as the case study. A sample of 195 firms drawn from manufacturing, trade and services firms in the cluster were utilised. In addition to the descriptive analysis, micro-level cluster information identified from literature was estimated using binary and ordinal logistics regression techniques. Findings indentify significant determinants of internationalisation, collaboration and innovation in the cluster that have guaranteed its collective efficiency and sustenance. The study posits that the cluster concept is capable of transforming the fortunes of the sector if properly mainstreamed into industrial policy.

El propósito de esta investigación es determinar las capacidades organizacionales que han sido desarrolladas por las empresas del sector industrial de la ciudad de Loja, a partir del modelo de las 7s de Mckinsey propuesto por Tom Peters y Robert Waterman. Se aplicó el cuestionario como instrumento para la recolección de datos
a la población objeto del estudio que son las empresas que pertenecen a la Cámara de Industrias de Loja, los resultados obtenidos fueron comparados con la variación de la rentabilidad y el impuesto a la renta causado en el periodo 2013-2014. El estudio permitió determinar que las empresas presentaron variabilidad positiva durante el periodo mencionado, aplicaron un estilo de liderazgo autocrático, flujo de información descendente, estructura organizacional definida así como misión y visión. El tipo de innovación más común fue en productos y
no aplicaron instrumentos que permitan determinar el clima laboral. Por otro lado, las empresas que no presentaron variabilidad positiva se caracterizaron por un estilo de liderazgo liberal y democrático, flujo de información multidireccional e innovación reactiva.

Resumen Las políticas ambientales y la dependencia del consumo de la energía eléctrica han llevado a las empresas del sector industrial a incluir novedosos sistemas de gestión. En Venezuela, la empresa Productos Alimex CA se ha dedicado a la producción de embutidos desde 1957 y es la primera en establecer una Unidad de Gestión Energética y Ambiental, asistida por la Universidad Nacional Experimental Politécnica Antonio José de Sucre. El propósito del
presente trabajo es describir los logros obtenidos por esta unidad, bajo la modalidad de una investigación de campo y descriptiva. Como resultados se encuentran las políticas ambientales establecidas para el control de las emisiones de los gases de efecto invernadero y del
impacto ambiental, la descripción de la Unidad de Gestión Energética y Ambiental y sus logros. Dentro de las conclusiones se destacan la importancia de esta gestión y los logros obtenidos para garantizar un futuro común para nuestros descendientes. Abstract Environmental policies and dependence on the consumption of electrical energy have led companies in the industrial sector to include novel management systems. In Venezuela, Productos Alimex CA has been engaged in the production of cured meats since 1957 and is the first to establish an Energy and Environmental Management Unit, this is assisted by the
Universidad Nacional Experimental Politécnica Antonio José de Sucre. The purpose of this paper is to describe the achievements of this Unit, using field and descriptive research. As results, are the environmental policies established for the control of emissions of greenhouse gases
and environmental impact, the description of Energy and Environmental Management Unit and its achievements. The conclusions highlight the importance of this management and the aims achieved to ensure a common future for our descendants.

Resumen El presente trabajo busca analizar la contabilidad social y ambiental como sistema de información que puede mejorar la operación de las pymes del sector industrial de Cartagena. Esta ciencia ha sido entendida desde un enfoque económico y financiero a lo largo de los años, pero al analizar que no sólo son factores financieros los que influyen en el alcance de los objetivos de estas organizaciones, se hace necesario empezar a usar el concepto de contabilidad desde un enfoque holístico, y cómo esta información puede ayudar a controlar los impactos que generan en el entorno. Realizando en primera instancia una exploración bibliográfica desde un enfoque descriptivo, dónde se llegó a la conclusión que al implementar este tipo de sistema de información se podrá mejorar la competitividad y sostenibilidad de la PYME en el largo plazo.

This study aims to determine the firm-specific, sector-specific, and
macroeconomic factors that affect the leverage dynamics of the firms
listed in the BİST Industrial Index (XUSIN). Three financial leverage
ratios based on financial debt are determined as debt indicators. For the period 2010Q1 - 2019Q4, panel data analysis method is used in the
study. As a result of the study, the following findings are obtained.
Firstly, the financial debt averages of the sector are effective in all
three determined financial debt ratios. Secondly, while both firmspecific factors and different macroeconomic factors are effective in
terms of short-term financial debt ratio and total financial debt ratio, it
is determined that macroeconomic factors are not effective on the
long-term financial debt ratio. The findings on the relationship
between the short-term financial debt ratio and the banking sector and
consumer confidence index and between the total financial debt ratio
and the stock market distinguish the study from other studies. The
main contributions of this study are considering the activities of the
banking sector and capital markets in the economy as an indicator of
financial development and considering the economic expectations of
financial units.

Bu çalışmada, BİST Sınai Endeksindeki (XUSIN) firmaların borçlanma
dinamiklerine etki eden firmaya özgü, sektöre özgü ve makroekonomik
faktörlerin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Borçlanma göstergesi olarak
finansal borçların esas alındığı üç finansal kaldıraç oranı belirlenmiştir.
Analiz dönemi olarak 2010Ç1-2019Ç4 dönemi belirlenmiş olup,
çalışmada panel veri analizi yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda
şu bulgular elde edilmiştir: Birincisi, sektörün finansal borç
ortalamaları, her üç, kısa – uzun ve toplam, finansal borç oranında da
etkilidir. İkincisi, kısa vadeli ve toplam finansal borç oranları açısından
hem firmaya özgü faktörler hem de farklı makroekonomik faktörler
etkili iken; uzun vadeli finansal borç oranı üzerinde makroekonomik
faktörlerin etkili olmadığı belirlenmiştir. Kısa vadeli finansal borç oranı
ile bankacılık sektörü ve tüketici güven endeksi arasındaki ve toplam
finansal borç oranı ile borsa arasındaki ilişkilerin varlığı, çalışmayı
diğer çalışmalardan farklılaştıran bulgulardır. Finansal gelişmişliğin
birer göstergesi olarak bankacılık sektörü ve sermaye piyasalarının
ekonomideki etkinliklerinin ve finansal birimlerin ekonomik
beklentilerinin dikkate alınması, çalışmanın temel katkıları olarak
sıralanabilir.
