Este artículo analiza la maternidad como una construcción discursiva, ligando dicha construcción con el discurso visual neogranadino propio del siglo XVII.  La Imagen de “La Virgen con el niño”, enmarcada dentro del contexto postridentino , se situó como lugar de emergencia de un discurso que modelaba la conducta de las mujeres, adjudicándoles unos roles específicos en relación a sus hijos. La madre tierna, cariñosa, protectora de sus hijos, surge en el discurso visual como verdad narrativa que debía ser adoptada como conducta cotidiana por parte de los sujetos.

RESUMEN Los Comentarios de don García de Silva y Figueroa, terminados en 1624, al final de una embajada que envió Felipe III de Castilla al sah Abbas I de Persia con distintos propósitos, se pueden leer desde distintas ópticas. En esta comunicación vamos a ubicar y contextualizar la embajada en su tiempo y en las relaciones Europa-Persia que se estaban produciendo y eran muy intensas. Pretendemos también hacer un repaso a la producción literaria que se produjo como consecuencia de estos viajes y realizaremos una revisión global de la cartografía del tiempo y del lugar. En este marco, vamos a recorrer la descripción del país de Persia que hizo don García en su libro V, la de aquellos territorios que no había recorrido en sus viajes por el país, a veces siguiendo o en busca del sah, para entender qué fuentes manejaba, cómo las interpretaba, estudiar su método de trabajo y analizar qué información aporta. Es este un estudio parcial, casi una cata, que nos permite comprender mejor la labor del embajador, al tiempo que seguir trabajando en el análisis de todo lo que aportaron sus Comentarios, una obra, que como se dirá en esta comunicación, supuso una aventura en sí misma. PALABRAS CLAVE García de Silva y Figueroa, Persia, Irán, Monarquía hispánica, siglo XVII SYNOPSIS The Commentaries of Don García de Silva y Figueroa, completed in 1624, at the end of an embassy sent by Philip III of Castile to Shah Abbas I of Persia with different purposes, can be read with different perspectives. In this communication we want to locate and contextualize the Embassy in its time and in the Europe-Persia relations that were taking place and were very intense. We also intend to review the literary production that was produced as a result of these trips and we will carry out a global review of the cartography of time and place. In this framework, we are going to go through the description of the country of Persia that Don García made in his book V, that of those territories that he had not traveled in his travels through the country, sometimes following or in search of the shah, to understand what sources he handled, how he interpreted them, study his working method and analyze what information he provides. This is a partial study, almost a tasting, which allows us to better understand the work of the ambassador, while continuing to work on the analysis of everything that his Commentaries contributed, a work that, as will be said in this communication, was an adventure in itself. 1. El hallazgo de un documento relativo a la colección de pinturas reunida por el cardenal Agustín Spinola en Roma, fechado en 1633, permite situar en la Urbe en ese año al poco conocido pintor Diego Gutiérrez Terán, ignorándose hasta ahora su paso por Italia. Al mismo tiempo, dicho documento precisa cuáles fueron las iconografías de las pinturas reunidas por Spinola en Roma y traídas consigo a su vuelta a España.

The discovery of a document relating to the collection of paintings owned by Cardinal Agustín Spinola in Rome, dated 1633, reveals that the little-known Sevillian painter Diego Gutiérrez Terán was in the city that year. His stay in Italy was ignored until now. The document likewise provides information concerning the subject matter and iconography of the paintings collected by Spinola in Rome and later taken with him on his return to Spain.

Alors qu’au siècle précédent fleurissent les textes montrant des sociétés utopiques, Urfé reprend ce thème qu’il adapte à un univers pastoral dans L’Astrée. Cependant, plutôt que de se contenter d’en démontrer la supériorité, il représente la fragilité qu’il y a dans tout projet utopique : dès lors qu’elle est incapable de survivre longtemps aux assauts du réel, à quoi peut bien servir une utopie ? La société idéale qui nous était proposée au début du roman s’effrite peu à peu pour se briser sous nos yeux. Entre critique de l’écriture utopique et regard paternel porté sur des personnages voués à souffrir de cette rencontre contre-nature avec l’extérieur, L’Astrée nous donne à voir comment le plus beau des pots de terre est inévitablement condamné à se confronter au pot de fer de la réalité. When in the 16th century multiple texts present utopian societies, Urfé adapts this theme for a pastoral universe in L’Astrée. However, instead of proving its superiority, he demonstrates the inherent weakness of every utopian project: what could any utopia be good for if it is incapable of long withstanding the assaults of reality? The ideal society presented at the beginning of the novel grows weaker with every new chapter, and is finally destroyed. Between denunciation of utopia as a genre and a paternal consideration of the characters doomed to suffer as a result of meeting the outside world, L’Astrée shows how the most beautiful of the earthen pots inevitably crashes against the iron pot of reality. The novel depicts the beauty of this crash.

The Discours historique de l’estat du royaume de Borno, written by a former French slave in Tripoli in 1685, is one of the most important sources for the history of Borno sultanate. Unfortunately, its study has been neglected due to inconsistencies between the manuscript and other sources. The manuscript was then considered as a second hand source. However, a close study of the context where the manuscript was conceived and written shows that we can deeply learn from it. The work of whom we call the « French surgeon », comes within the scope of a context favorable for writing the experience of captivity. It is the consequence of the author’s intense works of research in Tripoli and in France. The « French surgeon » wrote this chapter in a voluminous manuscript on the history of Tripoli with the reviews of a second author. The most interesting part of his work remains the way how the « French surgeon » collected his sources : their census is the occasion to propose their first classification, and a first overview of the contribution of the Discours historique de l’estat du royaume de Borno for the modern history of Borno sultanate.

Marie Casimire d’Arquien, despite legal and moral restrictions, engaged herself at the side of her husband King John III Sobieski, in intense political activity. Thus, she exposed herself to sharp criticism of adversaries, who in anonymous political writings revealed her purportedly real face. Unmasking her, that is “discovering the monster”, they created her biased image of a bad queen, wife, and mother. They reproached her with ignominious political practices and “fiendish concepts”, i.e. the establishment of the female political party, backstage masterminding the Sejm sessions, trading in offices and titles, and the dividing of the subjects. In the first place, however, appealing to the nobility’s constant fear of the decline of Golden Liberty, they accused this Polish Agrippina of thirst for power and desire for tyranny, together with pursuing a dynastic policy. Alarmed by her growing political independence (especially in the final years of King Sobieski’s reign and after his death during the convocation), they went as far as to cast aspersions on her, accusing the queen of having a love affair with Courland Prince Kettler or with the closest associate of the late king, Stanisław Szczuka. The king, criticized for succumbing to the influence of a lady, seldom responded to those attacks, not wanting to participate in such a loutish discussion, repugnant to regal majesty. He tried, on the other hand, to create a positive image of his beloved wife, commissioning both her high-quality representations, painted, drawn or coined on medals, and eulogies extolling her as the Morning Star, Mother Gaea-Rea and the founder of a new dynasty. The queen herself deplored the lack of sympathy from the misogynist nobility that was unable to accept in that patriarchal system a woman in the sphere of politics. Yet, according to the contemporary accounts, she was a thoughtful carer of the king and children, while some of her political concepts (such as, for instance, the idea to create an alliance of the Three Crowns) were worthy of attention from the perspective of the Commonwealth interest. She was also active in various other fields, and her financial ingenuity was amazing (she built an advanced shopping center at Marywil). She was also taking care to increase the prestige of the royal family, organizing a theatrical life of the court in line with the latest European fashion. Yet, finally, also due to negative propaganda evoking a lively response among the nobility, she has been remembered as a political intriguer, plotting to the detriment of Poland.

A b s t r a c t. This article concerns the execution of the ornaments—a very important question in the stylistic interpretation of the French harpsichord baroque music. The starting-point for reflection is treatise of the Monsieur de Saint-Lambert, a very enigmatic person, the author of Les prin-cipes du clavecin, centenant une explication exacte de tout ce qui concerne la tabulature et le cla-vier avec des remarques necessaires pour l'inteligence de plusieurs difficultées de la musique (The fundamentals of harpsichord playing, with explanations on musical notation and performance , together with explanatory remarks about different music issues), issued in 1702. He was highly valued as a harpsichord teacher and his treatises concerned the different aspects of playing keyboard instruments are the only preserved evidence of his musical and educational activities. It must be noticed that Saint-Lambert was the author of one of the oldest French treatises dedicated solely to the issues of harpsichord playing and his teaching method of mastering the instrument was at that time quite pioneering. The most important part of his treatise is the last nine chapters, focused on practical issues, where we can find the author's advice on different aspects of existing keyboard music. The main problem in performing harpsichord music at Saint-Lambert's time was the proper interpretation of music notation, which due to technical constraints (not yet perfect printing and editing of music works), was not able to reflect the whole variety of nuances of contemporary music style. So, the treatise Les principes du clavecin is a very helpful key to the understanding of the 18 th century music.

A b s t r a c t. The article focuses on the rules of organ playing presented by Jacques Boyvin in his Traité abregé de l'accompagnement pour l'orgue et pour le clavessin (Paris, 1705). Boyvin, born about 1653 in Paris, and died 1706, June 30 th , spent most of his life in Rouen, the capital of Nor-mandy. There, since 1676, he occupied the position of cathedral organist, earning fame of one of the most accomplished organists of the second half of the 17 th century. His main musical output consists of two collections of organ music: Premier livre d'orgue contenant les huit tons à l'usage ordinaire de l'Eglise, published in Paris in 1690, and Second livre d'orgue contenant les huit tons à l'usage ordinaire de l'Eglise (Paris, 1700) and the above-mentioned treatise, which is considered to be one of the most important sources regarding keyboard playing practice at the turn of 18 th century. In the first chapter Traité abrégé Boyvin discusses the main rules of music composition and he explains the symbols used in the transcription of basse continuë. In the second chapter he concentrates on various aspects of practical harmony of sounds. The third chapter includes a list of remarks on practical and performing aspects, which should be followed while playing the organ and the harpsichord. The last chapter (Des transpositions) deals with the important issue of scales transposition, which is often applicable in liturgical music. The important part of this article is the first in Polish literature of the subject, translation of the whole treatise, and the collection of organ exercises (preludes) originally published at the end of the treatise. The author of the article hopes to provide satisfactory amount of information both for organists and musicologists interested in the 18 th century French music theory.

Les histoires dévotes de Jean-Pierre Camus, évêque de Belley, s’inscrivent dans la veine tragique de la « littérature saturnienne » de l’âge baroque mais s’en émancipent par leur facture dévote, mystique et morale. Elles mettent en scène la corruption généralisée de l’homme et de la cité terrestre que Camus explique en partie par le dérèglement individuel des passions de l’âme auquel il consacra un traité. Invité à user et non abuser de ses passions, le lecteur contemple leurs excès sur la scène de l’amphithéâtre sanglant qu’est le monde. Par cette méthode, la corruption des passions est guérie par un faire voir rédempteur de soi où le sujet apprend à se haïr, en haïssant le monde en lui. Invité à une action de ses passions contre la corruption du péché, le lecteur est rééduqué par une métaphysique du regard à se faire alchimiste, à métamorphoser la haine d’inimitié en une haine d’abomination. Cet apprentissage à domestiquer ses passions, au lendemain des guerres de Religion, se retrouve à la fois dans la spiritualité mystique, dans les théories de la monarchie absolue, dans les traités civils de cour et dans les traités des passions. Autant de réponses apportées aux maux de la corruption mondaine pour juguler la violence des passions humaines.

Using unpublished archive material, the text eliminates certain doubts regarding the personality of the Herzegovinian Bishop Savatije Ljubibratić. It sheds light on several decades of dilemmas about his Herzegovinian bishopric seat. Furthermore, it defines the time and circumstances of his moving to Boka Kotorska more precisely and more comprehensively, as well as his activities under the auspices of the Republic of Venice.

“Visiones de la No-Granada” propone describir las imágenes que con más precisión han definido la no-ciudad granadina en su pasado más reciente. No-ciudad es un concepto ambiguo, recientemente incluido en la terminología del estudio de la imagen de la ciudad, que adquiere en la actualidad diversos significados derivados en su mayoría de la noción de no-lugar augeniana. La presente investigación parte de su concepción más radical y abstracta: aquella que queda definida literalmente como ausencia de ciudad, sólo expresable a través de la imagen simbólica, y cuya manifestación más elocuente se encuentra en los actos de fundación urbana arcaicos. Partiendo de esta noción, la descripción de la NoGranada se hace fundamentalmente a través del análisis de las imágenes simbólicas intrínsecamente ligadas a dos acontecimientos urbanos de carácter fundacional localizados en la historia reciente de la ciudad: el descubrimiento de los libros plúmbeos y las reliquias martiriales en los territorios extramuros de la ciudad contrarreformista-a finales del siglo XVI y principios del XVII-, y el soterramiento del río Darro a su paso por el centro de la ciudad burguesa, ejecutado a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX. Las imágenes citadas se desprenden, principalmente, de la lectura en clave simbólica de una serie de crónicas encomiásticas que sobre la ciudad se realizan contemporáneamente a los descubrimientos, y en el segundo caso, de los proyectos de cubrimiento y desvío de las aguas del río. La investigación demuestra que los simbolismos que definen la No-Granada en ambas ocasiones, a pesar de quedar encuadrados en diferentes paradigmas urbanos, comparten una misma naturaleza acuática y subterránea.

Se estudia en este artículo una pequeña polémica que enfrentó, entre 1626 y 1629, a Pedro Díaz de Rivas con Martín de Roa y Hernán Pérez de Torres, acerca de la localización de las ruinas del antiguo monasterio mozárabe de San Cristóbal. A partir de documentación nueva, mostramos cómo Díaz de Rivas se inspiró en los trabajos inéditos de su maestro y amigo, el abad de Rute, para elaborar un método de investigación que le permitió distinguir entre ruinas romanas, árabes y godas y, por lo tanto, desmentir la localización comúnmente recibida de dicho monasterio, en el Campo de la Verdad. Esto implicaba que los huesos descubiertos allí con la ocasión de una riada del Guadalquivir no podían ser los de santos mozárabes, supuestamente enterrados en este monasterio, sino huesos procedentes de un cementerio musulmán: honrar estas falsas reliquias era, pues, cometer un terrible sacrilegio. Estudiamos las respuestas que los adversarios de Díaz de Rivas dieron a esta impecable demostración: no rechazan a priori el argumento arqueológico, sino que lo imitan, pero para mostrar su invalidez y volver in fine a los métodos de investigación que mejor controlaban: la lectura alegórica de un texto sagrado (Pérez de Torres) o la investigación filológica (Martín de Roa).

The attitudes of the elite of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and especially of representatives of Radziwill family (Krzysztof and Janusz) towards the election of the last two Vasas are an interesting problem for deliberations and research, especially taking into account differences in the country's internal and foreign situation in 1632 and 1648, which determined the activities of mentioned above. This article was mainly intended to discuss the problem connected with the attitudes of the Lithuanian nobility towards the election of a new king and also indicating the role of connections of Wladyslaw IV and Jan Kazimierz with the Jagiellonians in political games. Answering the question of what and how influenced the attitudes and moods among the nobility, their argumentation to support one or other candidate requires many years of research and use of methods developed by other humanities, such as sociology, social psychology or political science.1 Keywords: Radziwill family; political attitudes; the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. In Polish historiography, the issue of the political attitudes2 of the nobility of the Commonwealth towards selected events or people were rarely discussed3. We also do not meet with too many literatures comparing the positions and feelings of the nobility against the election or candidates to the Polish throne4. Las imprentas de Pamplona no estuvieron al margen del negocio editorial, por lo que las relaciones de sucesos también fueron editadas puntualmente para relatar determinados acontecimientos. En este artículo se hará una recopilación de las relaciones editadas en Navarra durante el siglo XVII, abordando no sólo sus temáticas, sino también el papel ejercido por algunos impresores y autores que actuaron como editores.

Nei primi anni del XVIII secolo, la guerra di successione spagnola irrompe sull'equilibrio labile dell'Europa e sbaraglia alleanze consolidate. Il capovolgimento politico costringe alcuni ingegneri militari a procacciarsi velocemente nuovi incarichi e a mettersi al servizio di nuovi poteri, esplicitando (o millantando) competenze e capacità grafiche. È il caso di Giovanni Battista Sesti (1636-post 1714) che ha svolto gran parte della sua carriera sotto gli Asburgo di Spagna e che nel 1707 dedica la prima edizione di un atlante di città al principe Eugenio, nuovo governatore del Ducato di Milano al servizio degli Asburgo d'Austria. La raccolta Piante e delle piazze, e castelli fortificati in questo Stato di Milano con le loro dichiarazioni avrà grande fortuna (ne verranno stampate diverse edizioni in pochi decenni) e nasce da queste premesse. In realtà, l'atlante è una riproposizione di parte delle tavole già pubblicate nel 1687 da Joseph Chafrion (1653-1698), rivelandosi, quindi, poco aggiornato e non del tutto autentico. L'analisi comparata delle prime edizioni a stampa (1707-1708) con la copia acquerellata originale conservata presso la Biblioteca di Palacio Real di Madrid permette oggi una nuova lettura di un testo in bilico tra eccesso di ambizione dell'autore e plagio editoriale.

Małopolski ostatniej ćwierci w. XVII. Mimo że nie był artystą ani samodzielnym zleceniodawcą, uchodził za eksperta do spraw sztuki, dzięki czemu powierzono mu kierownictwo najważniejszych przedsięwzięć artystycznych. Jako profesor i sześciokrotny
rektor Uniwersytetu Jagiellońskiego kierował budową akademickiej kolegiaty św. Anny. Będąc spowiednikiem krakowskich klarysek, zrealizował założenie pielgrzymkowe w Grodzisku (upamiętniające założycielkę klasztoru bł. Salomeę) i brał udział w pracach nad nowym wystrojem kościoła św. Andrzeja. Książka prezentuje szczegółową analizę działalności Piskorskiego na polu sztuki, uwzględniającą
jego rolę jako konceptora (twórcy programów treściowych złożonych
dzieł sztuki) oraz prowizora (odpowiedzialnego za ich realizację, gromadzenie materiałów, angażowanie wykonawców i wybór rozwiązań artystycznych). Te dwa aspekty jego aktywności zostały potraktowane jako studium przypadku, służące poznaniu procesów planowania i powstawania kompleksowych dzieł sztuki sakralnej, a następnie osadzone w szerokim kontekście zainteresowań, inspiracji i celów dydaktycznych Piskorskiego, rekonstruowanych na podstawie jego prac kaznodziejskich i literackich.

The article is devoted to the history of the relics of Alexander Nevsky. The author assumes that the description of the «invention» of the relics in 1481 didn’t reflect the reality. In the actual fact, the relics had been kept on the surface of the ground in a stone tomb since the funeral until 1697, when they were solemnly put in a special reliquary. The stone sarcophagus protected the relics of Alexander Nevsky against numerous fires. The article cites and publishes the note put in the coffin of Alexander Nevsky in 1681, which told that after a fire the fragments of the relics had been collected together. Therefore, the relics of Alexander Nevsky should be deemed authentic. **** Статья посвящена истории мощей Александра Невского. Автор полагает, что рассказ об обретении мощей в 1481 г. не соответствует действительности. В реальности мощи Александра Невского находились на поверхности земли в каменной гробнице с момента погребения до 1697 г., когда их торжественно переложили в специальный реликварий. Каменный саркофаг спасал останки Александра Невского во время многочисленных пожаров. В статье публикуется записка, вложенная в гробницу Александра Невского в 1681 г. В ней рассказывается о том, что после очередного пожара остатки мощей были собраны вместе. Таким образом, есть все основания считать мощи Александра Невского подлинными.

Current scholars are showing that fiscal-financial system of the Austrias was shaping since ca. 1490. Important tasks like “headings”, bonds (juros) or the participation of financial groups in loans or tax farming took part of the common reality of Castilians from this moment. In this hand, there was also some events that can be taken as precedents of the noted "bankruptcies" and, in short, these episodes of financial crises show that there was a precarious balance around the credit systems that nourished the real estate beforee the Habsburg rule. This article is focus on a suspension of libranzas ordered by Fernando el Católico in February of 1509. Unpublished sources coming mainly from the Archive of Simancas has been used in order to elaborate the study.

La Renaissance européenne est marquée par les voyages de découverte et l’élargissement de la connaissance du monde. Au même moment, la réception humaniste de quelques textes antiques (notamment de Ptolémée et de Strabon) familiarise les milieux lettrés avec un nouveau mot : géographie. Autour de ce terme, des connaissances et des pratiques qu’il désigne, se construit un nouveau savoir, bientôt une nouvelle discipline. L’espace germanique, en particulier protestant, joue un rôle important dans son élaboration conceptuelle et dans sa mise en œuvre au XVIe siècle. Cet ouvrage cherche à éclairer les contextes intellectuels, sociaux et politiques, ainsi que les modalités pratiques de la naissance de la discipline géographique dans le Saint Empire. Il interroge également la nature des relations entre religion, confession et savoirs, à la faveur d'une ample connaissance de toutes les sources possibles.

This article analyses the formation and the articulation of the network of fairs and markets in Vicenza and its district in late middle ages and early modern times. The economic, social and anthropological distinction between weekly markets and annual fairs, and between public and private market, the interaction in the market squares, the role of public authorities in structuring such spaces, and their intervention in times of scarcity are examined. The use of money and non-market exchanges, especially in the countryside, are also considered.

El rápido ascenso a los altares de Santa Rosa de Lima y el apoyo que su canonización tuvo de los poderes coloniales se tradujo en una amplia devoción. Todas las capas sociales veneraron a sor Rosa, pero entre éstas sobresalieron los indígenas. Así el culto de los naturales a la santa se expandió, organizándose por medio de cofradías en la Archidiócesis de Lima en apenas diez años. Un fenómeno acelerado y único.

En el último tercio del siglo XVII la venalidad alcanzó sus mayores cotas y aquellos criollos anhelantes de reconocimiento social tuvieron su oportunidad. Los abultados gastos de la Monarquía Católica y algún compromiso extraordinario provocaron que a las almonedas americanas comenzasen a llegar títulos nobiliarios. Éste fue el momento esperado por aquellos indianos con capitales suficientes como para conseguir su intitulación mediante la compra. Sin embargo, no todo se limitó a una simple transacción. Como revelan las fuentes del Archivo General de Indias, a los nuevos titulados les surgieron problemas económicos, burocráticos e incluso de prestigio. Abstract Ita:
Il saggio indaga le relazioni diplomatiche tra la sede apostolica e i Regni di Spagna durante il pontificato di Paolo V Borghese nel quinquennio che va dal 1611 al 1617, quando si palesa con sempre maggior vigore l’intolleranza del pontefice e del cardinal nipote Scipione Borghese nei confronti dell’ambasciatore spagnolo a Roma, Francisco de Castro (conte di Castro e duca di Taurisano). Quest’ultimo non soddisfaceva affatto le aspettative dei Borghese, i quali temevano l’eccessiva vicinanza fra l’ambasciatore e la sua famiglia (i Lemos) con l’ex cardinal nipote Pietro Aldobrandini, considerato a sua volta come un nemico da parte dei Borghese. Questi ultimi condannavano la linea politica del diplomatico spagnolo ritenuta volta a obiettivi d’interesse personale e tendente al radicamento della presenza dei Lemos nella penisola italiana, altrimenti indicato come il loro «Imperio Napolitano», grazie appunto anche all’opera del viceré di Napoli, fratello dell’ambasciatore. Da tale situazione era scaturita una vera e propria ossessione da parte dei Borghese per la sostituzione del Castro con un nuovo diplomatico che fosse ben disposto verso la famiglia papale. La richiesta venne posta con estrema insistenza attraverso il nunzio a Madrid Antonio Caetani e tale ferma posizione finì giocoforza per influenzare gran parte delle negoziazioni diplomatiche tra le due corti.

Eng Version: The essay investigates the diplomatic relationships between the apostolic See and the Kingdoms of Spain, during the pontificate of Paul V Borghese, with a particular focus on the 1611-1617 period. In those years, the intolerance of the pope and the cardinal nephew, Scipione Borghese, towards Francisco de Castro, the Spanish ambassador in Rome, was growing firmly. The papal family was worried about the excessive closeness of the ambassador’s family (the Lemos) with the former cardinal nephew Pietro Aldobrandini, who was considered their enemy. The Borgheses also condemned the ambassador’s policy, who, in cooperation with his brother, Fernando de Lemos, viceroy of Naples, was believed to pursue his personal interests in order to strengthen their presence in Italy, also known as the Lemos’ own «Neapolitan Empire». This situation was the cause of the origin of a real obsession for the Borgheses, so that they requested the substitution of Castro with a more favourably disposed ambassador, in order to protect their political success. As a consequence, the request became a conditio sine qua non that strongly influenced other negotiations between the courts of Rome and Madrid.

Edición y estudio del manuscrito Esp. 397 de la Biblioteca Nacional de Francia. Contiene dicho códice una obra de materia religiosa islámica compuesta en la primera década del siglo XVII por Mohanmad de Vera, morisco natural de Gea de Albarracín, en las tierras del Bajo Aragón.
La obra está dividida en tres apartados: una primera sección con tres estudios sobre la obra: I) El manuscrito, su autoría y su lugar en el conjunto de la producción textual aljamiado-morisca, II) La composición de la obra a partir de diversos textos aljamiados y su integración en el tratado de Mohanmad de Vera, enriquecido con cuatro anexos con materiales complementarios sobre las fuentes de la obra, en relación con otros testimonios y con sus originales árabes y, III) El análisis de la peculiar alternancia léxica entre árabe y romance en el texto.
La segunda parte del estudio está dedicada a la edición del texto, según los principios y criterios que preceden a la transcripción de manuscrito.
La tercera parte está formada por tres repertorios léxicos: un glosario de voces comunes que difieren del castellano estándar, el elenco completo de antropónimos y topónimos, así como el inventario de las escasas expresiones árabes que incluye el texto de Mohanmad de Vera.

En el presente artículo presentamos una breve historia del proceso de construcción del modelo mecanicista moderno (S. XVII) a partir de la noción de máquina. Al revisar los elementos fundamentales que constituyen el mecanicismo se busca identificar las limitaciones, retos y problemas que están involucrados en este sistema explicativo. También se quiere resaltar brevemente la importancia que esta manera de ver el mundo provocó en los ideales y compromisos que muchos pensadores defendieron y sostuvieron en el proyecto de la Modernidad. 

In this article we present a brief history of the process of building the modern mecha-nistic model (S. XVII) from the notion of machine. In reviewing the basic elements that constitute the mechanism is to identify the constraints, challenges and problems that are involved in this explanatory system. But also want to briefly highlight the importance of this way of seeing the world caused by the ideals and commitments that many thinkers defended and held in the project of Modernity.

Resumen: Este trabajo analiza las persistencias, estrategias y transformaciones iconográficas desplegadas en los Andes durante los siglos XVII y XVIII, a través de una piedra tallada y policromada de Huamanga que se encuentra en el Museo de Arte Hispanoamericano Isaac Fernández Blanco, en Buenos Aires. La pieza anónima, de principios del  siglo XVIII, forma parte de la fusión operada sobre las manifestaciones artísticas, entre la potencia unificadora de la evangelización europea y la supervivencia de los imaginarios propios de las culturas prehispánicas. El análisis de las imágenes nos permite acceder a los modos de construcción de lo que podemos denominar visualidades de la época,  entendidas como  imágenes y conjuntos de imágenes que se escenifican y encarnan en las expresiones visuales.

Abstract: This paper examines the Maria´s Andean iconography during the XVII and XVIII centuries, explaining how and why art become a powerful tool of control, domination and resistence in Andean societies. Art works did not reproduced their European models, given thar we can recognize in them a great deal of syncretism between both cultures. European models superimposed and mixed their culture, religion and institutions with those of the indigenous peoples. The art became a multiethnic and multicultural issue. The present work examines a small stone carving of Huamanga, from the Isaac Fernández Blanco Museum in Buenos Aires. The stone is an anonymous piece of the XVIII century.

paradoxes de n’être jamais vraiment « para-doxal ».

Between the linguistic debates of the sixteenth century and the untimely “Panthéonisations” of the Revolution, the history of the genius is agonistic. A pivot between the individual and the
collective, genius is both exceptional and exemplary. Being never truly “ para-doxal ” is not the least of its paradoxes.

El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la memoria escrita de los moriscos en la España del siglo XVII. A tal fin se estudian diferentes textos de teólogos, juristas e historiadores que expresan opiniones sobre la minoría y su identidad y mencionan las causas de su expulsión de España. El análisis de estos textos no sólo revela juicios variados sobre los moriscos, sino también una jerarquía cambiante de las causas de su conflicto con los cristianos viejos y de su expulsión. En la argumentación de esas causas la utilización de conceptos como providencia, nación, linaje, buen gobierno o razón de estado dibuja una tenue evolución hacia una valoración más política que religiosa de la expulsión.

contra los turcos, unida, desde la óptica de sus coetáneos, a la aureola de valentía
personal que le precedía y a una intachable piedad próxima a la santidad, se
constituyeron en los factores que acabaron generando en torno a su figura una sólida
reputación, que perduró hasta el final del Antiguo Régimen. Dicha notoriedad, cuyo
origen está en un constructo de su propio «yo» por el duque, será bien instrumentalizada
por los Zúñiga para generar y transmitir memoria del linaje, puesto que, bajo su
biografía, muy eficaz como pedagogía del poder, subyacía una ideología nobiliaria
tendente a la legitimación y perpetuación social de sus privilegios.

An interesting unpublished manuscript preserved in the Royal Library in Madrid provides information on the profession of midwife. It has two distinct parts. The first part includes the report that drafted the lawyer Pedro Varaez in order to show that children of mothers who practiced this profession didn’t lose their  privileges in case of having by birth. In his presentation, collects quotes from the sacred books, the works of classical authors and, above all, expert medieval canonists and different jurists of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The second, written by Antonio Diez also licensed Francisco Cabrera, rejected every argument put forward by Varaez, but without mentioning hardly more than a few references.
The document also contains interesting information for the history of the profession of midwife and recognition they enjoyed in different periods, as people who ensured the health of women in labor, staking his entire practice, and whose presence was relevant when to guarantee the rights of the firstborn, in case of multiple births.

Un interesante manuscrito inédito conservado en la Real Biblioteca de Madrid proporciona información sobre la profesión de partera. Consta de dos partes diferenciadas. La primera, más extensa, incluye el informe que redactó el licenciado Pedro Varaez para demostrar que los hijos de madres que practicaban este oficio no perdían sus privilegios nobiliarios en caso de poseerlos por nacimiento. En su exposición, recoge citas de los Libros Sagrados, de las obras de autores clásicos y, sobre todo, de expertos canonistas medievales y diferentes juristas de los siglos XVI y XVII. La segunda, escrita por el también licenciado Francisco Antonio Díez de Cabrera, rebate todos los argumentos esgrimidos por Varaez, pero sin mencionar apenas más que unas cuantas referencias.
El documento contiene asimismo interesantes noticias para la historia de la profesión de comadre y el reconocimiento que éstas gozaron en diferentes periodos, como personas que velaban por la salud de las parturientas, poniendo en juego toda su práctica, y cuya presencia era relevante a la hora de garantizar los derechos de los primogénitos, en caso de nacimientos múltiples.

Um manuscrito inédito interessante preservado na Biblioteca Real de Madrid fornece informações sobre a profissão de parteira. É constituída de duas partes distintas. A primeira, maior, inclui o relatório que elaborou o advogado Pedro Varaez para mostrar que filhos de mães que praticaram este ofício não perder seus privilégios nobres devem possuir pelo nascimento. Em sua apresentação, recolhe citações dos livros sagrados, as obras de autores clássicos e, acima de tudo, canonistas medievais especialistas e diferentes juristas dos séculos XVI e XVII. O segundo, escrito por Antonio Diez também licenciado Francisco Cabrera, rejeitou todos os argumentos apresentados pela Varaez, mas sem mencionar pouco mais do que algumas referências.
O documento também contém notícias interessantes para a história da profissão de parteira e reconhecimento que se em diferentes períodos, como pessoas que assegurada a saúde das mulheres em trabalho de parto, estacando toda a sua prática, e cuja presença era relevante quando para garantir os direitos do primogênito, em caso de nascimentos múltiplos.

In 1644 the ‘Proverbiorum et sententiarum Persicarum Centuria’ was published. Hereby is presented this work’s translation into Galician, which is possibly the first into a modern language. Opening boundaries of modern phraseology we look forward to widening the research ‘spectrum’ both towards the East and the past; an approach is thus enabled to an -at the time- pioneering work, containing, among other aspects, the first direct translations from Persian into Latin. In addition, its frequent quoting from the Bible and Greek and Roman classics allows us to understand it as a crossroad between diverse cultures.

L'analisi di tre cataloghi a stampa risalenti al biennio 1656-57 e relativi ai libri stampati o comunque commercializzati dal libraio genovese Benedetto Guasco permette di avanzare alcune considerazioni sull'attività della tipografia di quest'ultimo negli ultimi anni di attività. I tre cataloghi sono stati trascritti, e per ciascuna delle opere si è cercato di dare quante più notizie possibili fra quelle rinvenibili in repertori coevi e studi moderni.

Résumé

L’une des figures les plus intéressantes des dignitaires valaques dont l’activité a été documentée dans les décennies cinq-huit du XVIIe siècle a été Mareş Băjescu, considéré à juste titre dans l'historiographie comme un «homme nouveau» de cette époque.
Bien que ses origines soient modestes, lui étant le fils de certains citadins de Câmpulung, en s’appuyant sur ses qualités natives et intellectuelles et ayant le soutien du postelnic (maréchal de la cour) Constantin Cantacuzène, de la famille et du groupe politique homonyme, il bénéficiera d'un carrière politique d’exception. Cela aboutira à la dignité de grand ban (haut dignitaire gouverneur), à deux reprises en l'absence des princes régnants étant également l’intendant du trône princier.
A partir de quelques informations archéologiques et de certains documents inédites, nous nous sommes référés ici en particulier aux années 1666-1667, lorsque Mareş Băjescu, devenu grand vornic (gouverneur), parvient à acquérir une grande influence politique et une grande force économique. Le boyard devient grand vornic (gouverneur) à la fin de l’année 1665 / début de l’1666, sous le règne de Radu Leon (1664-1669), remplaçant dans cette dignité justement le principal adversaire des Cantacuzènes, le vornic (gouverneur) Stroe Leurdeanu. Pas du tout par hasard, l’année 1666 coïncide également avec le début de la réhabilitation du postelnic (maréchal de la cour) Constantin Cantacuzène par le déclenchement du processus d'identification de ses assassins. Pendant cette année ou juste après, Mareş rénove, voire même agrandit, les maisons de ses parents à Câmpulung, situées près du monastère Negru Vodă. Aussi, en 1667, il fit construire une cave avec un réfectoire et une maison abbatiale au monastère de Vieroş.
C’est également pendant cette période qu'il fit édifier ou plus probablement apporter des améliorations à une maison plus ancienne près de la cour princière de Targoviste où, en tant que chancelier de la chancellerie princière, il avait commencé sa carrière de dignitaire.
Dans tous les trois endroits mentionnés, des carreaux de poêle ont été découvertes lors de recherches archéologiques, ayant pour représentation l’aigle bicéphale, symbole de la famille-clan Cantacuzène à la tête de laquelle Mareş s’est trouvé. L’inscription à la base contient le nom de l'artisan, Simeon Rusu, mais aussi l'année de commande et de fabrication des moules pour les respectives carreaux: 1666.
C’est connu le fait qu'entre la fin septembre 1667 et le début janvier 1668, Radu Léon fut contraint de se rendre à Andrinople pour payer pour la première fois le grand mucarer pour qu’il soit reconfirmé comme prince régnant. Dans cette action, le prince bénéficia du soutien conditionnel des Cantacuzènes, celui qui se rendit à Constantinople pour utiliser ses relations personnelles étant le fils aîné du postelnic (maréchal de la cour) Constantin, Drăghici le spătar (connétable), qui y mourut dans des conditions restées peu claires.
Dans le pays, à la place de Radu Leon, porteur des soucis du règne resta le vornic Mareş Băjescu. De ce premier isprăvnicat (intendance du trône princier), deux de ses ordres furent conservés en copie, donnés respectivement le 19 octobre et le 14 novembre 1667. En profitant de la circonstance qu’il était l’unique représentant du prince régnant – faveur dont il a bénéficié aussi lors du règne du prince Antonie de Popeşti (1669-1671), étant le seul grand dignitaire de la Valachie de l’époque qui a eu la qualité d’unique ispravnic de scaun (intendant du trône princier), même deux fois, sous deux règnes différents – Mareş Băjescu

a commis certains abus. L’un d’eux était l’échange de domaines avec le mentionné monastère de Vieroş, auquel pour trois villages d'Argeş près de l'ancienne forteresse Poenari, édifié par Vlad Ţepeş, à savoir Căpăţâneni, Poenari et Siliştea Cheienilor, il a donné son domaine de Comanca, département de Vâlcea. Pour compenser la différence entre les propriétés changées, Mareş a construit à Vieroş une cave avec un réfectoire et une cellule de couvent au-dessus, le bâtiment étant évalué à 100 ughi. L’échange est resté en vigueur pendant le règne d’Antonie Voda de Popeşti, membre et partisan du parti des Cantacuzènes, mais s’est terminé sous le second règne de Grigore Ghica, un opposant connu de ce groupe de boyards, fait consacré par le jugement mentionné dans l’acte rédigé le 10 mars 1673, date à laquelle chaque partie impliquée reçut ses possessions initiales. Pour la construction édifiée à Vieroş, Mareş a reçu les 100 ughi investis.
Les informations extraites des documents invoqués ci-dessus, corroborées d’une heureuse manière avec les investigations archéologiques, nous donnent une image beaucoup plus claire de l’ascension du groupe des Cantacuzènes dans la première partie du règne de Radu Leon, mais aussi plus tard, sur le fond de l’augmentation de la crise traversée par le principale institution de l’état, dans le contexte de l’accentuation de la domination ottomane. Aussi, les sources invoquées sont des jalons importants pour la biographie du grand dignitaire valaque Mareş Băjescu, révélant d'une part un homme reconnaissant envers le groupe politique auquel il devait tout, et d'autre part un caractère tenace, fort, habile et parfaitement adapté à son époque.
