In the western mountain range of National Park Podocarpus and Sabanilla knot in ecosystems over 2400 m south of Ecuador, for 12 months, we evaluated the presence of spectacled bear, andean fox and mountain tapir, three large South American mammals are potentially recognized as "umbrella species", because they have important ecological functions and spacious home range.
By register of seven different field signals used to document the occurrence, relative abundance indices and distribucion frequency, for which we used observation transects signs.
We found 1002 records of the three species in the entire area traversed by the observation units, of which 50.11% belong to bears, 38.42% to foxes and 11.48% to tapirs.
The records distribution and occurrence of the three species throughout the sampling in at least one of the three surveyed tracts showed a continued use of these ecosystems, also we found possible preference patterns related with climatic variables measures temporarily and spatially.
The intensity of use evidences and/or presence was time variant, having highest peaks in a few months but was finally discarded the seasonal use of the moors.

En las sociedades actuales el tener una mascota como el perro ha hecho posible crear nuevas formas de interacción, y de conflicto. Los encuentros comunicativos pueden fomentar el respeto y la integración de una comunidad. O crear fuertes diferencias que polaricen a la sociedad. En el presente trabajo se pretende presentar cuales son los factores que intervienen en este tipo de encuentros comunicativos, y la importancia de re-aprender a interpretar a nuestros perros.

Most contemporary scholarly work on posthumanism and transhumanism rests on the idea that both perspectives are part of an ontological continuum. This article, however, acknowledges and explores the differences between them. In order to prove that evident theoretical –and, therefore, practical– differences exist between both positions, a genealogy of their development from the 1980s is proposed. The definition of the two different ontologies associated to each of the discussed positions is followed by an analysis of the consequences that this theoretical separation would have for research. This paper also lays out a revision of their epistemologies and their ethical and practical implications. To conclude, we offer a contextualized justification of why the two discussed positions are actually antithetic, and how considering them as such would be useful for future research in the field.

Entrenamiento de psitácidos para la participación voluntaria durante procedimientos veterinarios Una de las principales funciones del médico veterinario en los zoológicos, santuarios y otros centros de conservación que albergan fauna salvaje es garantizar el bienestar de los animales y no úicamente la salud física de éstos, que aunque es parte fundamental del bienestar de un individuo no es su totalidad. El control sobre las interacciones con el ambiente y la posibilidad de decidir, por ejemplo, son factores de gran relevancia para el bienestar de los animales. Las conductas de evasión y escape asociadas a miedo suelen aumentar considerablemente cuando el veterinario clínico aparce en escena, los animales aprenden que su presencia está asociada a eventos desagradables de los que no pueden huír. Temple Grandin sostiene que el miedo es capaz de producir un mayor incremento de las hormonas asociadas con el estrés que muchos factores físicos adversos, esto aunado al grado de incomodidad que el confinamiento y sus consecuencias provoca en las aves supone que el nivel de bienestar de los animales sea pobre y sin duda, se verá reflejando en la expresión de comportamientos anormales. Convencionalmente se opta por solicitar al cuidador que confine al animal en un espacio reducido para que a la llegada del veterinaio su manejo se simplifique a la contención física y/o química para la posterior atención veterinaria requerida. Estas prácticas sin duda afectarán el trabajo de cuidadores y el bienstar de las aves pues se perderá la confianza, fundamental para la seguridad y bienestar de cuidadores y animales.

En primera instancia el trabajo de el zoólogo Desmond Morris, es digno de admiración, al atreverse a estudiar a la Especie Humana, desde un prisma totalmente opuesto al antropocentrista el cual ha invadido la ciencia desde prácticamente sus orígenes y que a pesar de ello muchos de los avances en el conocimiento del comportamiento humano fueron obtenidos a partir de esta corriente del pensamiento. Es por ello que al realizar un estudio comparativo con el resto de los mamíferos y particularmente con los simios superiores, se explican de manera tan acertada diferentes comportamientos del Homo sapiens, en aspecto muy importantes incluso en la actualidad, tal es el caso del proceso de apareamiento, crianza, habitos exploratorios los cuales no solamente se han arraigado de manera tal en el comportamiento del ser humano que a pesar de miles de años de diferencia, es en principio muy similar al de nuestros antecesores los primeros monos desnudos. Inclusive Desmond Morris, se atreve a abordar uno de los temas mas importantes en relación al ser humano, su origen, presenta diferentes hipotesis las cuales explican diferentes aspectos relevantes en el comportamiento y origen del Homo sapiens para después debatir cada una de ellas. Un hecho contundente como el que se presenta al estudiar a los simios mas similares a nosotros los cuales presentan aun sus habitos arborícolas, el mono desnudo tuvo que adquirir una serie de modificaciones en su comportamiento nomada y dar paso a un importante cambio, el ser sedentario aunado a esto la modificación alimenticia, es decir el paso de ser herbívoro a ser carnívoro. Este ultimo punto es discutible pues diferentes autores, mencionan una etapa transitoria en la cual el Homo sapiens atraviesa un nicho de habitos carroñeros en el cual se ve en la necesidad de crear e implementar utensilios para obtener el mayor aporte nutrimental, de que los grandes depredadores y diversos organismos situados por encima del ser humano tomaran lo correspondiente de la presa obtenida. Otro aspecto sin duda muy importante que se abarca en el libro es el comportamiento sexual, cabe recalcar que este en particular resulta "gravemente" regulado por la sociedad, o viceversa el comportamiento sexual regula a la sociedad. Es decir, esta actividad es tan importante que de su éxito depende el destino de la prevalencia de la especie humana y por ello fueron necesarias una serie de modificaciones que se acumularon a lo largo de toda la historia de la humanidad, sin embargo mantiene su esencia, para muestra un botón al voltear a mirar a nuestros parientes mas cercanos y su comportamiento, el constante tira y afloja e incluso las señales explicitas de disponibilidad sexual, como una exaltación de los órganos sexuales es común en diferentes primates, incluyéndonos. Algunos órganos fueron "adquiriendo" diferentes adaptaciones para favorecer el órganos y de esta manera una actividad sexual satisfactoria lo cual influyo directamente en la vida del mono desnudo y su tendencia a formar una familia. De esta manera pasamos a otro aspecto fundamental en la etologia del Homo sapiens, la crianza y la formación de un núcleo familiar, pues si bien la cooperación fue fundamental en todo el desarrollo previo a este aspecto, a partir de aquí se intensifica su importancia, Desmond Morris menciona la importancia de generar un fuerza lazo con la pareja sexual para de esta manera facilitar el periodo de crianza tan importante en nuestra especie en particular, pues nuestro encéfalo tarda mas de el doble de Fernández Hernández Juan Carlos 2601

В предлагаемой статье актуализируются исследования этологических и психологических аспектов межвидового взаимодействия «Человек — Домашнее животное». Показано, что это направление не только перспективно в теоретическом и прикладном аспектах, но также практически значимо и востребовано в самых разных сферах индивидуальной социальной активности и жизнедеятельности человека, а также социальных групп. Обозначены перспективные сферы исследования феноменов и/или эффектов указанного взаимодействия, проявляющихся в частности: в развитии семейных и детско-родительских отношений; в асоциальном развитии личности под воздействием различных факторов (социальных и индивидуально-личностных); в различных направлениях развития средств массовой информации (социальная реклама на телевидении и в печати), в художественной литературе и кино; в общественно значимом (как в позитивном, так и в негативном плане) общении в социальных сетях (коммуникация посредством обмена видеороликами и другойинформациеи). Показано, что эта проблематика важна для исследований в сфере образования и воспитания чело- века, где как непосредственный, так и косвенный контакт обучающегося с природными объектами способствует развитию разных сфер его личности (когнитивной, коммуникативной, эстетической, нравственной, эмоциональной, волевой).

Dice snakes (Natrix tessellata) display an extensive repertoire of antipredator behaviors. They flee when
they detect an attacker, and if captured, they vigorously struggle to evade. They spin their body, while spraying
the foe with a malodorous mixture of cloacal content and cloacal gland secretions. Ultimately, dice snakes can
switch to death-feigning (DF, thanatosis), i.e. tonic immobility in inverted position; usually opening their mouth,
protruding their tongue, and sometimes producing bubbles with blood and saliva. However DF is a dangerous
option since vital organs, like the liver, are exposed to the predator. We examined antipredator behaviors triggered
by human observers, comparing capture-induced DF among five populations. DF prevalence ranged from 6.4% to
31.5%, probably due to different local predator pressures. We found no effects of dorsal coloration pattern or sex
on DF frequencies. In Golem Grad population, a large sample (N=1,909) showed that DF frequency increased
with body size. This might indicate to protective effect of DF from gape-limited predators. DF was three times
less frequent in gravid than in non-gravid females. In another experiment we compared duration of DF in water
and on land, after half a minute long standardized manipulation. Snakes released in container with water
significantly decreased DF duration comparing to those released on land. Overall, different factors influence the
occurrence and duration of DF, suggesting that this “desperate” attempt is under selection.

Uomo e animale, apparentemente queste due parole sembrano appartenere a due realtà molto diverse tra loro, a due poli opposti. Eppure non è strano sentir dire che alcune persone “si comportano come animali” o che  “sono animali”, ma anche tante altre espressioni come “fare la scimmia a qualcuno”, “solo come un cane” , “battere i pugni sul petto ( comportamento tipico dei primati)” . Queste parole senz’altro lasciano presupporre che noi sappiamo bene in cosa ci differenziamo da questi ultimi e in cosa non.
Ma è davvero così? Sappiamo esattamente quanto e in cosa siamo diversi da loro?
Noi agiamo mossi dall’intelligenza? siamo razionali? e gli animali agiscono per istinto? Le scimmie sono buone ?

Resumen
El presente artículo tiene como finalidad realizar un resumen de un capítulo del libro Problemas de lingüística general I del lingüista francés Émile Benveniste. Para mencionar las diferencias que existen entre la comunicación animal, que en este caso abordara a la danza de las abejas, y el lenguaje humano.

Abstract
The purpose of this article is to summarize a chapter of the book Problems of General Linguistics I by the French linguist Émile Benveniste. To mention the differences that exist between animal communication, which in this case will address the dance of bees, and human language.

Resumen:
El objeto del presente artículo es resaltar el papel de la toponimia como útil herramienta de búsqueda y análisis de antiguas trampas para la caza de fieras en Asturias y, en general, para documentar aquellos elementos patrimoniales del espacio rural que se encuentran en trance de desaparición. Las antiguas prácticas cinegéticas para exterminar aquellos animales considerados dañinos se han ido olvidando, y las estructuras que se construyeron siglos atrás para capturarlos sucumben a la ruina. Ante la falta de documentos históricos y el laconismo de los testimonios orales, la toponimia constituye un vestigio imprescindible para investigar estas costumbres y construcciones. Los nombres de lugar, agrupados a continuación por familias léxicas, hacen referencia a lugares de paso de los animales; a sitios de avistamiento, reproducción o alimentación; puntos estratégicos de caza; técnicas de captura; etc. En definitiva, los lugareños testimoniaron a través de los topónimos su profundo conocimiento del paisaje y de los animales monteses a los que habían de dar caza.

Abstract:
The aim of this article is to highlight the role of toponymy as a useful tool for searching and analyzing ancient traps for hunting wild animals in Asturias and, in general, to document all those heritage elements of rural areas that are dying out. Ancient hunting practices to exterminate animals considered harmful have been forgotten, and the structures that were built centuries ago to capture them succumb to ruin. Given the lack of historical documents and the pithiness of oral testimonies, toponymy proves to be an indispensable vestige to investigate these customs and constructions. Place names, grouped below by lexical families, refer to transit points of the animals; sighting, reproduction or feeding sites; strategic hunting places; trap methods; etc. In short, natives have testified through the toponymy their deep knowledge of the landscape and the wild animals that they were to hunt.

En estos últimos diez años ha sido enriquecedor preguntarme sobre la posible musicalidad de algunos sonidos de otras especies animales desde mi quehacer musical. Al escucharlos, he reflexionado sobre cómo los orígenes y la extensión del fenómeno de lo musical puede no estar circunscrita solamente a lo humano. Conjuntamente, esta posibilidad ha motivado la experimentación que he realizado como compositor con las sonoridades, estéticas y téc-

nicas que he escuchado en estos sonidos . Ahora bien, en nuestros días de crisis ecológicas
y avances tecnológicos, es posible encontrar nuevas razones y maneras para cuestionar y estudiar nuestro lugar humano en el transcurrir del planeta, y en este caso preguntarnos por nuestra exclusividad en lo musical. Es así como en diversas perspectivas disciplinares, esta inquietud está tomando nuevas configuraciones en las últimas décadas, por lo que se hace necesario revisar los antecedentes y la actualidad de esta temática.

Jedni torebki plastikowe , inni perfumy, długopisy, pocztówki, gazety, obrazy. Po pewnym czasie jednak pozbywamy się rzeczy które do niczego nie są nam już potrzebne, albo gdy zmieniliśmy zainteresowanie. Takie hobby, bo tak możemy zaklasyfikować ten rodzaj gromadzenia dla przyjemności, jest jak najbardziej naturalnym zachowaniem wynikającym z uwarunkowań życia w rozwijającej się cywilizacji. Chcemy mieć coś swojego, tylko naszego, rzeczy, wśród których czujemy się dobrze, bezpiecznie i mamy poczucie odskoczni od codziennego życia w stresie. Niepokojącym zjawiskiem staje się przerodzenie niewinnego zbierania np. znaczków w gromadzenie w domu niezliczonej ilości przedmiotów nie mających nic wspólnego z kolekcjonerstwem. Na tym tle często dochodzi w rodzinie do nie porozumień, a zbierający często słyszy:" Nie ma już miejsca na twoje hobby"; "Może czas najwyższy wyrzucić część tych śmieci". Niechęć do usuwania zbędnych przedmiotów, wręcz gromadzenie ich w nieograniczonym nadmiarze daje podstawy do zastanowienia się, czy to nie syllogomania. Syllogomania, czy też bądź też zespół patologicznego zbieractwa w literaturze medycznej w Polsce opisany został w 1974 roku. Mimo późniejszych licznych wzmianek w piśmiennictwie naukowym, zaburzenie to nie zostało wpisane do ICD-10. W USA zostało zaklasyfikowane jako choroba społeczna i wpisane do klasyfikacji amerykańskiej chorób, DSM-5, obowiązującej od 2013 roku. "Patologiczne zbieractwo to nabywanie, zbieranie, gromadzenie oraz trudności z pozbywaniem się rzeczy nieużytecznych lub o małej wartości, o ile tego typu aktywność jest nasilona tak, że powoduje obniżenie poziomu funkcjonowania społecznego lub jego całkowitą dezorganizację." 1 Zbieractwo mające za przedmiot zwierzęta nie ogranicza się tylko i wyłącznie do zwierząt domowych takich jak psy czy koty, ale również hodowlanych takich jak konie, krowy, kury, króliki, kawie (jeszcze do niedawna określane jako świnki morskie), a także zwierzęta egzotyczne itp. Zarówno w przypadku zwierząt domowych traktowanych przez społeczeństwo jako domowi pupile, jak i zwierząt hodowlanych, liczba nagromadzonych przez zbieracza zwierząt, uniemożliwia zapewnienie prawidłowych warunków bytowania i opieki weterynaryjnej. Zbieracze jednak temu zaprzeczają. Próby racjonalnego argumentowania, by zaprzestali uprawiać ten proceder, spełzają więc na niczym. W związku z tym kompulsywne gromadzenie zwierząt może być scharakteryzowane raczej jako objaw zaburzenia umysłowego niż jako celowe okrucieństwo wobec zwierząt. 2 Należy też zwrócić uwagę na fakt, że równolegle ze zbieraniem zwierząt mogą być też gromadzone, rozmaite przedmioty codziennego użytku. Este artículo busca mostrar cómo una aproximación fenomenológica a la alteridad puede ser iluminada por un acercamiento al estudio del comportamiento de los animales. El vínculo entre etología y fenomenología, que solo es comprendido plenamente en su dimensión afectiva, se construye a través de una exploración en la que la intencionalidad (Intentionalität) fenomenológica aparece como impulso formador (Bildungstrieb) del organismo, su comportamiento y mundo circundante (Umwelt). Esto significa que la intencionalidad no constituye estructuras determinadas, sino procesos
plásticos y dinámicos, capaces de vehicular tanto la génesis del organismo
como la de su mundo. Entender la formación como un desarrollo epigenético permite advertir que la forma es un acontecimiento, el fruto de una potencia que va de lo general a lo particular, de las estructuras generales de la experiencia de una especie a la proliferación variopinta de perspectivas.

Chiropteran diversity peaks in the Neotropics where more than 100 bat species can be found living sympatrically. Although Neotropical bats are known to feed on a diverse array of food resources, information regarding their trophic ecology is scarce. To contribute to a better understanding of tropic interactions between Neotropical bats and their vertebrate prey, we report the predation of two treefrog species of the genus Scinax by the fringe-lipped bat Trachops cirrhosus. These constitute the second and third amphibian species to be added to the diet of T. cirrhosus in Central Amazon

An emblematic animal of hot deserts, the scorpion evoked also, in the eyes of the ancient Egyptians, the maternal instinct that pushes certain parents to overprotect their offspring, sometimes at the risk of their lives. Its image was closely associated with the figure of Isis, the archetypal wife who defends the family patrimony: first as the brave widow of the deceased king Osiris, then as the mother of his legitimate heir Horus, whom she will carry to the throne of Egypt after a long struggle. It is this unfailing support that justifies the representation of this maternal aspect of the goddess' personality alongside her son, who was to reign over a vast African empire in the New Kingdom.

Although it is undeniable that there is an enormous distance between the theoretical background of philosophical principles expounded by philosophers John Stuart Mill and Franz Brentano, one cannot deny the similarity in the relationship they establish between psychology and ethology (the science of formation of character). Indeed, although Mill and Brentano have designed the specific characteristics of each of these sciences differently, they were in full agreement both on their definitions, when taken in the broadest sense, and on the relationship of dependency between them. In other words, they both explicitly agreed that psychology would be the science of elementary laws of mind and ethology was the science that corresponds to the art of education in the broadest sense. Mill, for example, said in the second part of his work System of logic, called Logic of the moral sciences, that the laws of the formation of character would be deduced from the general laws of mind. In turn, Brentano stated in his Psychology from an empirical standpoint, explicitly citing the tasks outlined by Mill, that psychology would also have the task of becoming the scientific basis for a theory of education, both for the individual and society. Thus, if the similarity between the works of both philosophers is evident and textually declared, one should wonder about the differences and specificities between them. This will, therefore, be the question that this paper will answer in four parts. In the first part, I will introduce the way in which the German philosopher Franz Brentano conceived, in his work Psychology from an empirical standpoint (1874), the proposal for the foundation of ethology developed in the work Logic of the moral sciences of John Stuart Mill. In the second part, I will introduce Millian's definition of Psychology and the distinction between mental phenomena and physical phenomena as assumed by it. In the third part, I will introduce the main epistemological limitation which Brentano found in Mill's psychology and I will show how the notion of intentional relation (to the object) was introduced by Brentano to solve this limitation. In the last part, I will introduce the main feature of Brentanian's turn to the moral cognitivism and I will conclusively propose the problem that led Brentano to abandon his first psychic foundation project of the theory of moral sentiment, as well as the grounds for Ethology in his philosophy of the psychic. Anyway, although this project of Brentano's was unfinished, it had the virtue of reintroducing the theory of intentionality in the analysis of moral values, either through the concept of intentional object, or through the concept of intentional relation¸as the foundation of research of laws that would govern the formation of human character.

Awareness of self-awareness is a fundamental cognitive property of human beings. This means that awareness of self-awareness could be naturalized as specific functional mental state of human brain. Nature of reflection as real mental state is social one. Evolution of reflective forms of mind could be explained through evolution epistemological standpoint as a result of social reflective games. Organisms have an ability to grasp opponent’s reflective range and to detect epistemic lie by their behavior and external physiological data. Probably this is possible due the evolution of empathy phenomena caused by mirror neurons.

Infanticide is considered a conspicuous expression of sexual conflict amongst mammals, including at least 35 primate species. Here we describe two suspected and one attempted case of intragroup infanticide in spider monkeys that augment five prior cases of observed or suspected infanticide in this genus. Contrary to the typical pattern of infanticide seen in most primate societies, where infants are killed by conspecifics independent of their sex, all eight cases of observed or suspected infanticide in spider monkeys have been directed toward male infants within their first weeks of life. Moreover, although data are still scant, infanticides seem to be perpetrated exclusively by adult males against infants from their own social groups and are not associated with male takeovers or a sudden rise in male dominance rank. Although the slow reproductive cycles of spider monkeys might favor the presence of infanticide because of the potential to shorten females' interbirth intervals, infanticide is nonetheless uncommon among spider monkeys, and patterns of male-directed infanticide are not yet understood. We suggest that given the potentially close genetic relationships among adult males within spider monkey groups, and the need for males to cooperate with one another in territorial interactions with other groups of related males, infanticide may be expected to occur primarily where the level of intragroup competition among males outweighs that of competition between social groups. Finally, we suggest that infanticide in spider monkeys may be more prevalent than previously thought, given that it may be difficult for observers to witness cases of infanticide or suspected infanticide that occur soon after birth in taxa that are characterized by high levels of fission-fusion dynamics. Early, undetected, male-biased infanticide could influence the composition of spider monkey groups and contribute to the female-biased adult sex ratios often reported for this genus.

Stories of feral children are commonly regarded as little more than fiction. This paper
explores two cases of children allegedly brought up by animals from the viewpoint of
ethology as defined by Deleuze: “the practical science of ways of being”. In doing so,
it questions the taxonomical project that divides the living world into separate species,
defined in accordance with the notion of essence. By analyzing the basis for the
skepticism with which these stories are received, this paper proposes that something
central to the modern world is at stake in them, i.e., the distinction between human
and animal life.
