Reggio Emilia

I denna teksten kommer jag att beskriva en undersökning som å ena sidan handlar om en vision om barns lärande och undervisningssätt inom filosofi med barn (P4C) och å andra sidan om arbete inom förskolan i den italienska staden Reggio Emilia. Undersökningen har sitt ursprung i mitt intresse (från 1985) för förskoleverksamheten i Reggio Emilia och senare för filosofi med barn. Jag kom i kontakt med filosofi med barn för ungefär sex år sen och allt eftersom min kunskap blev bättre tyckte jag mig kunna se flera likheter med den och den vision som finns inom förskolan i Reggio. Det väckte mitt intresse att undersöka om det fanns likheter mellan dessa två metoder och i så fall vilka. Filosofi med barn 1 är ett ämne som har sin upphovsman hos filosofen Matthew Lipman (1993). Han började utforma sina idéer i slutet av 60-talet, han ansåg att den filosofiska bredden inom grundskolan var bristfällig. Lipman utgår ifrån att filosofiska funderingar är en del av varje barns naturliga läggning redan i ung ålder. Han har inte som målsättning att barn bör inpräglas vissa meningar eller påståenden om världen, utan att deras färdigheter i kritiskt och kreativt tänkande borde styrkas. Lipman (1988a) påpekar att vår nuvarande kunskap åldras fort och att det viktigaste är att lära barnen tänka klart. Phillips (2001) anser att Lipman har med filosofin med barn gett filosofin ett nytt liv. Man kan utan vidare påstå att filosofin med barn har väckt stor uppmärksamhet runt om i världen och i dag praktiseras den i grundskolor i ungefär 70 länder över hela världen (Gregory & Kennedy 2000). 1 Se artiklar om ämnet i %DUQ nr. 2 2002.

Questo numero dedicato alla scuola italiana del periodo monarchico raccoglie contributi di Nadia Venola, Ivano Reggiani, Pamela Tavernari e Vincenzo Tedeschini: dagli albori della scuola unitaria messi a fuoco da Nadia Venola attraverso le esperienze di un maestro tra Bassa modenese e territorio reggiano, alle esperienze di scuola elementare dei primi decenni del Novecento narrate da Ivano Reggiani e Pamela Tavernari anche attraverso le parole di una maestra e di un’alunna della pianura modenese l’una e della collina reggiana l’altra, fino allo sviluppo a livello regionale di un’istruzione tecnica superiore nel settore agrario ricostruito da Vincenzo Tedeschini.

Il ciclo di affreschi nel Torrione della Rocca estense di San Martino in Rio (RE) è opera databile attorno al 1460, spettante alla bottega modenese degli Erri. E' infatti documentato al lavoro nella Rocca, dal 1459 al 1461, Pellegrino degli Erri, cugino dei più noti Angelo e Bartolomeo, nell'ambito della riqualificazione voluta da Borso d'Este. Le "imprese" del primo duca estense sono infatti raffigurate sulle quattro pareti della Sala del Torrione: il "Baptismo" o fonte battesimale, la "chioldara", la siepe o "paraduro" e l'unicorno, associato al "datteraro": un'iconografia che rimanda alle bonifiche del luogo realizzate da Borso. L'orizzonte di cultura cortese di questo codice iconografico è il medesimo espresso nella Bibbia di Borso d'Este, o nei cartoni eseguiti da Cosmè Tura per l'arazziere Livino nel 1457; codice rigenerato su queste pareti da una nuova sensibilità atmosferica orientata verso il Rinascimento: l'immagine di una natura perfettibile grazie l'opera del principe.

La controversia sulle vaccinazioni infantili si è insediata notevolmente nel panorama sociale negli ultimi anni, sia grazie ai quotidiani e alle riviste, sia per mezzo dei social network e dei blog, che stanno assumendo una collocazione incisiva nella sfera individuale degli italiani. Questa controversia coinvolge molteplici fronti: il fronte medico e degli esperti, il fronte pubblico che concerne le persone comuni e quello mediatico che si offre come fonte, spesso non imparziale, dei fatti e delle discussioni in atto. È anche a causa di questa estensione generalizzata di interesse che si rivela una buona possibilità l'ingrandimento della questione nelle regioni del Veneto e dell'Emilia-Romagna, al fine di mappare la controversia cogliendo, in particolare, le loro rispettive peculiarità.

This article offers an analysis of the encounter between the two natural environments of the Italian Po Plain and the Argentinian Pampa Gringa through the migration of Italian rural workers. Notably, we focus on the migration micro-histories of Emiliano-Romagnoli, who moved from Italy to Argentina during Italian Great Migration Era (1870–1955). Building on oral histories gathered in Italy and Argentina between 2005 and 2007, these micro-histories show how place-based landscapes of Italianness hybridised with the local landscape of the South American plains through Italian migrants’ embodied memories, labour, and socio-environmental transformation practices. By focusing on Po Plain migrants’ memories and experiences of the lowlands of northern Italy and the Argentinian pampas, we aim to offer a micro-historical perspective on the environmental history of migration.

This paper presents the edition of a document of 1409 listing thirty coins used as ‘ passport’ or secret token of identity to have access at the gates of the cities of Parma and Reggio Emilia and fortresses of the surrounding territory. The coins are described in detail and can be identified ; they are billon or silver coins of various Italian and foreign mints. This is the first evidence of such a use of coins.

Viene pubblicato un documento del 1409 nel quale sono elencate trenta monete utilizzate come lasciapassare o contrassegni segreti (signa) da presentare alle porte delle città di Parma e Reggio Emilia e in alcune fortezze del territorio circostante per farsi identificare e potervi accedere. Le monete, sia di zecche italiane che straniere, sono spesso descritte con grande dettaglio. Si riporta la trascrizione integrale del documento e la traduzione delle parti di testo relative alle monete, delle quali si propone una identificazione insieme ad alcune considerazioni numismatiche. I seek to make explicit the social and historical context in which Gianni Rodari developed The Grammar of Fantasy and ideas that are now at the center of international innovation in preschools and early education. Rodari’s commitment to the imagination survives in the field of education as a treasure trove of methodological suggestions for today’s teachers who are looking for strategies to legitimate children’s thinking and the power of learning.

The paper aims to examine the dominatus of the Fogliano family, one of the most important lordships in the countryside of Reggio emilia. Articulated around the many fortresses and castles which characterized the region, the seigniory of the Fogliano family was characterized by a substantial overlap, in relation to the exploitation of land and the control over the homines of the communities, between political and economic spaces. In other words, control over the resources of a given area was activated as a result of the domini political affirmation over it. This does not mean, however, that the lordship was folded back on itself: the case study of the dispute between the Fogliano, the Dallo and the commune of Reggio emilia concerning the right to graze on the pastures of the Cusna mountain shows that the lordship was affected by commercial contacts with regions not necessarily close by. Some remarks on the control that the Fogliano family could exercise over the parish churches, the mountain markets and the roads crossing their lordship further enriches the panorama of the lords’ economic spheres of action.

The study of art has become an important aspect of early childhood education. According to Picasso, “every child is an artist”. However, how do we, as teachers, protect and cultivate children’s art making? Many theories guiding arts education have arisen from developmental psychology, however, in this paper, projects are analysed in relation to Reggio Emilia practice and Deleuzean philosophy. In the last part of the paper, I will reflect on my own arts learning experience and consider new possibilities, referring to Deleuze.

Il periodo preso in esame, la fine del Tardo Antico e l'inizio dell'Alto Medioevo, è estremamente complesso, frutto di molteplici e differenti apporti culturali, militari e sociali. Di seguito un sunto generale sul periodo e i suoi protagonisti.

In the following study we investigate the foundations of an elementary school music atelier grounded in the pedagogies of Célestin Freinet, the Reggio Emilia approach, and the maker movement. Through the construction processes of musical marble structures by Grade 1 and Grade 4 students, we examine the strengths and challenges of the pedagogies and practices that scaffold the variety of learning that unfolds in our music atelier—including hands-on, collaborative, experimental, and experiential learning. In doing so we uncover the historical underpinnings of the atelier and come to understand how this unique studio space evokes student-centered experiences that fosters character, agency, and autonomy to take responsibility for one’s own learning. Moreover, we reveal how the elementary school music atelier can support a foundation for in-depth discovery and wonder that empowers children to develop sensitivities to design and artful ways of thinking and learning.

ABSTRACT: The continuation of the social and physical environment that will support all aspects of the development of schoolage children is carried out with the design of educational structures. Education systems play an important role in the proper design and effective implementation of these structures. Dewey, Montessori, Waldorf and Reggio Emilia approaches are among the leading alternative education systems in the world. The Reggio Emilia approach, which is the subject of this article, is an educational system that allows the learner to be transformed and developed by the learner and emphasizes the role of the physical environment placed in the position of a third teacher. In the forefront of art activities, the focus is on how the products produced individually or as a group are formed rather than what they are. Reggio, which does not include standard accreditation processes and certified teacher programs is an education system that is not formal model, nurtured and adaptable to the culture of the place. In the educational institutions designed with this method, the creation of common and flexible spaces by arranging the interior and exterior spaces together takes the first place in planning. In the structures formed from functionality rather than form, the relationship between settlement, bearing system, façade and garden is examined by considering the location. Classes, workshops and in-school circulation areas are supportive space equipment in the student-teacher relationship with material and color selection. Within this framework, where each learning environment is thought to be contextually and culturally peculiar to the place, in the design of school buildings located in different regions and climatic conditions of the world and providing education with the Reggio Emilia system, the reflections of the approaches on spatial fiction and then the development of individuals are examined in this study.

Quando nel 1971 Giulia Niccolai e Adriano Spatola decidono di fondare la rivista «Tam Tam» hanno la chiara intenzione di dare un forte impulso all'intermedialità. Nei primi mesi del 1972 viene pubblicato il primo numero, stampato a Montecchio Emilia dalla tipografia Fontanini. La redazione è a Mulino di Bazzano, in provincia di Parma, ma la registrazione è presso il Tribunale di Torino, sede delle edizioni Geiger, fondate da Adriano con il fratello Maurizio nel 1967, quando era stato avviato il progetto di 'assembling press' concretizzato nell'omonima antologia internazionale. «Tam Tam» ha una testata che visualizza sinesteticamente, in una sorta di prospettiva acustica, il suono del tribale strumento di comunicazione. Il che già la dice lunga su scambi e convergenze linguistiche e sulla volontà di porsi nel mezzo di una rete di comunicazione al di fuori dei canali istituzionali. Testata e progetto grafico della rivista sono di Giovanni Anceschi, il formato è insolito, minuscolo e leggero, tascabile e postabile senza difficoltà: entra comodamente nella classica busta 12x18 e può arrivare, senza grosse spese, anche oltreoceano. Le tecniche non legate alla linearità della scrittura sono al centro dell'attenzione. Spatola è molto informato su quanto succede nel mondo. Il concretismo internazionale va a gonfie vele, Fluxus impegna spazi sempre più ampi; in Italia le pratiche verbovisive si fanno sempre più coinvolgenti: una fitta rete di scambi tra Bologna, Firenze, Genova, Napoli, Roma, Torino è già una realtà degna di grande attenzione. In questo clima, la rivista, chiaramente schierata contro l'engagement antiletterario, sostiene istanze totalizzanti e si apre ad esperienze di confine. La disponibilità a cedere ad impulsi extra letterari incoraggia un tipo di scrittura polidimensionale. Contaminazioni e scambi attuati su territori di frontiera determinano una testualità complessa che non riesce ad evitare l'attrazione di modi e tecniche linguistiche di diversa estrazione. Ci si rivolge con rinnovata attenzione verso le avanguardie storiche e, nello stesso tempo, si tengono d'occhio le tecnologie emergenti con particolare riferimento verso i sistemi di comunicazione e le problematiche che implicano. La visualità, il fonetismo, la gestualità, il nonsense, disvelano in pieno la matrice materica dei modelli di poesia che si vogliono affermare. Le scelte della redazione, grazie ad «una condensazione non soltanto gestuale, visuale o concreta, ma soprattutto segnica o ideografica del testo», 1 favoriscono il superamento delle barriere linguistiche e attivano numerose convergenze in funzione di «una ristrutturazione verticale del fare poetico» 2 in opposizione allo «sterminato materiale lessicale messo a disposizione dal meccanismo dell'espansione orizzontale, tenuta a livello dei mass media». 3 Queste dichiarazioni fuori dal coro, quando il dibattito è tutto orientato sulla dicotomia impegno/disimpegno e il clima di restaurazione culturale si fa pesante, coagulano intorno all'iniziativa editoriale un vivace flusso di autori italiani e stranieri, che rivendicano «il diritto dell'operazione poetica a istituirsi come coscienza della e nella attività comunicativa, in una sintesi non a priori ma a posteriori, dal paesaggio dell'esperienza quotidiana all'astrazione intellettuale». 4 Già da anni Spatola 5 è in contatto con i più importanti esponenti della poesia concreta e visuale. Allievo di Luciano Anceschi, è chiamato a collaborare con «il verri» e attraverso quell'esperienza ha assimilato il concetto anceschiano di 'convergenza delle arti': l'opera d'arte è vista in chiave fenomenologica e letta nel mezzo di una rete di interconnessioni e di scambi interdisciplinari che ne chiariscono il senso. Dopo «Bab ilu» (1962), si fa le ossa nel Gruppo 63, pubblica il romanzo L'Oblò (Feltrinelli, 1964), anima «Malebolge» (1964-65). The aim of the paper is to analyze a source ‘ignored’ by local historiography: the cartulari of Guido Savina da Fogliano. Among the first cartularies (made by lords) to appeared in the Italian scene, those documents allow us to deepen the studies on the family which was one of the most important in Reggio during the 13th-14th centuries (and beyond). Made by Guido Savina, leading member of the Reggio Emilia family in the first three decades of the 14th century, the analysis of the cartularies offers a number of new points of view through which observe the history of the family: on one hand, the content of the document consolidates and extends what it is already known about the Fogliano. On the other hand, in the cartulary the history of the family is ‘disassembled in photograms’, which are then reshaped and rebuilt to show not just a simple chronology of family events, but rather to create a clear picture of the family and of its main member at that time. a speech, a storytelling made by goods, rights and privileges, in which the absolute protagonist is the family but, above all, Guido Savina da Fogliano.

Appertenente a una famiglia di scenografi e architetti - tali il fratello Paolo e il figlio Pietro - Tommaso Bezzi (Venezia, 1652 ca. - Modena, 1729) fu progettista di teatri e di scene in ambito veneziano, passato poi al servizio dei duchi d'Este. Dapprima operoso per Francesco II, attivo per il Teatro Fontanelli di Modena, legò il suo nome agli straordinari festeggiamenti per il battesimo del figlio del duca Rinaldo, il futuro Francesco III, tenutisi in Modena nel febbraio del 1700. In occasione degli studi sul Settecento Estense, del 1982, è emersa una serie di incisioni di Ludovico Mattioli e di Francesco Maria Francia per i tipi dei Soliani che riproducono le creazioni di Tommaso Bezzi per il ducale battesimo: l'Anfiteatro per L'Armeggiamento a cavallo introdotto dalla Gloria e dal Tempo, con le sontuose macchine, l'apparato eretto nel Salone del Palazzo Ducale per la rappresentazione di un balletto con le macchine di Bradamante e Armida, una scenografia per La nascita di Alcide nel Teatro Fontanelli e il ricco apparato del Duomo di Modena, oltre alla macchina funeraria eretta per il principe Clemente Giovan Federico d'Este nella chiesa dei gesuiti, San Bartolomeo. Si sono rinvenuti anche documenti relativi alla sistemazione della zona presbiteriale della chiesa di San Vincenzo, dei teatini, sempre su progettazione di Tommaso Bezzi. Ne emerge lo stretto rapporto fra la cultura del ducato modenese e l'ambiente veneziano, in particolare per la produzione legata ai teatri e alla scenografia.

Die jüngere Forschung betont, dass Infrastrukturen, inklusive ihrer Eigentumsrechte und Verwaltung, eine entscheidende Rolle für Transformationen der Umwelt spielen. Durch ihr Studium können wir verstehen, wie stark eine Gesellschaft durch Umweltrisiken gefährdet ist und wie sie darauf reagiert. Das Projekt wird die Verwaltung von Wasserressourcen in Po- und Rheingebiet analysieren mit einem Fokus auf die Periode nach der Etablierung städtischer Autonomie bis zur Konsolidierung von fürstlichen Autoritäten vom Ende des 13. bis zur Mitte des 16. Jahrhunderts. Po- und Rheingebiet weisen ähnliche Merkmale in der Nutzung der Landschaft auf, die oft von der Historiographie übersehen wurden. Trotz einer Vielzahl vorhandener Daten über Klima, Demographie und extreme Naturereignisse ist die gesellschaftspolitische Dimension aber noch wenig ausgeleuchtet. Das Projekt wird sich auf vier spezifische Fälle konzentrieren. Abgesehen von der geographischen Lage unterscheiden sich diese Gebieten auch aus institutionellen Gründen und in der unterschiedlichen wirtschaftlichen Nutzungen der Wasserwege. Diese kann die Wahrnehmung von Naturereignissen beeinflussen: Bestimmte Ereignisse können innerhalb einer bestimmten Risikokultur oder einer sozialen Gruppe als normal betrachtet werden, jedoch als Katastrophe in einer anderen. Um den Wandel der zeitgenössischen Paradigmen zu beobachten, müssen wir außerdem die agrarische und ingenieurtechnische Literatur untersuchen, die in diesen Gebieten zirkulierte, inklusive einiger antiker Texte, die in dieser Zeit wieder beginnen veröffentlicht zu werden. Wir werden daher die Beziehung zwischen Wandlungen der sozialen und ökonomischen Infrastrukturen und Paradigmen und deren Einfluss aufeinander studieren. Wurden kulturelle durch wirtschaftliche Interessen beeinflusst? Wurden die Bewältigungsstrategien der Bewohner durch ökonomische, soziale und politische Transformationen bedroht?

Presso l'Archivio di Stato di Reggio Emilia sono conservati alcuni progetti per la chiesa e il chiostro di San Pietro. Tra questi, due fogli finora separati, costituiscono un progetto unitario fornito dall'architetto veronese Bernardino Brugnoli per l'edificio sacro reggiano intorno al 1580.

Perspectives on learning about the arts in early childhood education have become more complex as researchers seek an approach that accommodates ‘chaos’ in children’s creative work. Lark-Horovitz, Lewis, and Luca (1973) describe children’s self-initiated drawings as descriptions of their whole being, their body and ‘chaotic’ personality (as seen in Thompson, 2007). As children are naturally inclined to use their bodies with the aid of their resources and materials around them to make sense of what is going on every day, it is a normal phenomenon for children to reflect their physicality, which, according to Olsson (2013), reflects their complex sense of the world. This paper will refer to two projects in the early childhood setting that reference original and creative ways in which children construct a social culture that forms part of a wider social cultural context involving the community. In addition, a self-reflection of personal learning and experience within the arts will be discussed and an ideal art activity, with reference to children’s own creative voices and imagination.
