Previous scholarly studies have discussed the use of Zen Buddhism
within the person-centred approach of Carl Rogers, demonstrating the feasible influence of Buddhism over Rogers’s theories. The present research delves into the convergence and divergence of person-centred therapy and the Mahāyāna (one of the current mainstreams of Buddhism) philosophy explicated within the Vimalakīrti Nirdeśa Sūtra (a significant Mahāyāna canon); in particular, the bodhisattva spirit and four immeasurables, including loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity. Findings indicate that Carl Rogers’s counselling principles and practices comply with the Buddhist teachings of phenomenal vision, actualising tendency, and innate eagerness to alleviate suffering. This discussion also analyses ideas that have
seldom been examined in person-centred principles, such as bodhisattva
altruism, mind purity in nature and impurity caused by bewilderment,
compassion fatigue, causes of suffering, and counselling techniques.
Mahāyāna wisdom potentially offers references to the Rogerian family of
theories, which also sheds light on the use of Buddhist-influenced non-medical interventions.

This book is the story of my self-deception about my “deviant” sexuality and my protracted and painful progress toward self-understanding and self-acceptance. Unavoidably, the book involves explicit descriptions of a wide range of activities often regarded as sexually deviant. It is not intended as pornographic; though some people may use it that way. It describes how I deceived myself about my sexuality as a consequence of trying to conform to the norms of my inherited culture. I hope that it will be found enlightening and entertaining. I also hope that it will be helpful to people who are struggling to adjust themselves to social expectations that make unreasonable demands upon them and that it will help them to avoid the psychological crises and decades of wasted life that I suffered.

The study was conducted to determine the level of Rejection Sensitivity and Self-Acceptance of Selected Adolescents of  Bacoor, Cavite. The study focused on reducing the level of Rejection Sensitivity and enhancing the level of Self-Acceptance utilizing Learn, Enhance, Achieve Program (LEAP)  which has been made by the researchers and has been validated by three experts.
The participants of the study was composed of nineteen (19) randomly selected adolescents of selected from Bacoor, Cavite. Pre-test and post-test was supported by True experimental research design method and the Learn Enhance Achieve Program (LEAP) was improved by 6 modules developed by the researchers to calibrate the effect of high self-acceptance and to lower the rejection sensitivity level of the participants in the study. To ensure the data gathered, the researchers used statistical tools such as: Frequency Distribution, Aritmetic mean, Kolmogorov- Smirnov test, Dependent t-test and Independent sample t-test, Welch’s T-test, and Analysis of covariance (ANCOVA).
There is no significant difference in the mean scores of the two groups. The control and experimental group do not differ in initial rejection sensitivity levels however the mean score obtained from experimental group (M = 84.00) is statistically higher  than the mean score obtained from the control group (M = 70.00) in terms of self-acceptance thus, null hypothesis is rejected.
There is no significant difference between the  pre-test and post-test mean scores of the participants from control and experimental group in terms of rejection sensitivity and self acceptance.
There is a significant difference in the mean scores of the two groups. The rejection sensitivity post-test mean score obtained from experimental group (M = 7.83) is statistically less than the rejection sensitivity post test mean score obtained from the control group (M = 10.80). From these results it can be deduced that the program has a positive effect on the level of rejection sensitivity of the participants. In terms of self-acceptance,  after controlling for the pre-test score, there is a highly significant difference in the self-acceptance post-test mean score between the experimental and control groups.
To determine the significant differences of the variances, analysis of variance and Welch F-test were used. Among the hypotheses, hypothesis one and four were rejected while hypotheses two and three  were accepted.

The purpose of this study was to compare the psychological wellbeing of public and private university teachers in Pakistan. Psychological wellbeing is generally conceptualized as an interaction of positive effects such as happiness and optimal functioning of people in social and individual areas of life. Using multistage sampling technique, 437 university teachers in four public and private universities each were sampled for this study. Psychological Wellbeing Scale previously validated by Akin (2012) and others comprising 30 statements with 7 point Likert scale was adapted by the researchers. The study found that overall, male and female university teachers perceived similar level of psychological wellbeing. Female teachers; however, perceived higher score in different factors such as developing positive relations and self-acceptance. Unmarried teachers perceived more purposeful life and personal growth than married teachers, while married teachers perceived more autonomy than unmarried teachers. Further, the teachers did not signifi cantly differ on psychological wellbeing based on their university location (public and private) and their teaching experience. The study found that teachers with higher ranks and designation signifi cantly differed in their wellbeing than their colleagues with lower ranks.

Why should therapists read Søren Kierkegaard? In our largely secular age, in which the latest generation of religion’s ‘cultured despisers’ often seem to speak for the cultural mainstream, what has psychotherapy to learn from an unorthodox nineteenth century Lutheran with an uncompromising view of the importance of a proper ‘God-relationship’? There can be no denying the influence of Kierkegaard on important psychotherapeutic figures as diverse as Ludwig Binswanger, Rollo May, Carl Rogers, R. D. Laing and Ernest Becker.  His insightful diagnoses of anxiety and despair have been a significant influence, via Heidegger, on existential psychotherapy. As one therapist recently told me, Kierkegaard is a source of great insight provided we ‘ignore the religious stuff’. Yet therapists who insist on taking their Kierkegaard safely secularised are missing a trick. In this article, I shall argue that it is in some of his lesser known, explicitly ‘religious’ writings, that Kierkegaard offers some of his most important insights for therapeutic practice. I have argued elsewhere that Kierkegaard offers a rich conception of ‘proper self-love’ that I believe has important implications for therapy. Central to this account is the application to ourselves of the trust, hope and forgiveness that are central to his accounts of love of God and neighbour.  But here I shall concentrate primarily on a perhaps surprising theme from this famous diagnostician of anxiety and despair: what the reflections on ‘the lilies and the birds’ in Kierkegaard’s ‘upbuilding’ discourses can teach us about contentment and self-acceptance and their relation to gratitude and patience.

Salah satunya yaitu masalah penyesuaian diri (Mustafa, 2016). Menurut Handono & Bashori (2013) seseorang yang masuk ke dalam lingkungan baru harus menyesuaikan diri dengan lingkungan fisik dan sosialnya, apabila seseorang sulit menyesuaikan diri, maka dapat menimbulkan stres. Selain itu, permasalahan yang terdapat pada mahasiswa yaitu masalah penerimaan diri. Kesimpulan dari hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa di Bandung terbukti memiliki penerimaan diri yang baik, dilihat dari pandangan mengenai diri yang positif, menghadapi kesulitan dengan menangani,  dan orientasi masa depan berhubungan dengan perilaku yang ingin diubah, sedangkan penerimaan diri dikonseptualisasikan tidak hanya dengan body image tetapi juga akademik, perilaku, pengalaman, dan permasalahan akademik.

Humanistic psychology, it could be maintained, was the first psychological theory that gave serious consideration to the value and implications of self-acceptance in psychology, at least in its more explicit and positive constructions. As will be discussed, humanistic psychology began by advocating for radical self-acceptance that embraced a view of oneself, and human nature, as essentially good. Over time, the understanding of self-acceptance became more nuanced, particularly with the introduction of existential psychology as a school of thought within the humanistic tradition. In this chapter, we provide an overview of important humanistic views on self-acceptance, emphasizing how these emerge from a particular understanding of human nature as well as the implications for psychotherapy.

Self-care is fundamental to mental health practitioner training and professional efficacy.  Expressive writing about stressful events has been researched and shown to have positive physical and psychological effects. Mindfulness, an embodied approach to clinical practice and education, has also been studied and documented as an effective self-care approach.  Embodied education integrates experiential history with current learning, which may influence future practitioner performance and client outcomes.  This self-care exercise is designed to promote awareness and acceptance among counselors and counselors-in-training, as well as among clients, through use of a mindfulness-oriented written self-disclosure task that may facilitate meaning-making, and may enhance psychological well-being and therapeutic efficacy.  It aligns with CACREP and ACA Code of Ethics standards addressing counselor self-care as a necessary facet of ethical practice.

Stigmatising homosexual individuals damages their emotional health and quality of life. In particular, those with religious beliefs may additionally suffer from religious discordance due to their sexual preferences. This exploratory research investigates how Buddhists perceive homosexuality and how Buddhist lesbians, gays and bisexuals (LGBs) accept their sexual orientation. It adopts semi-structured Internet-based text and voice interviews with 11 participants, including homosexual Buddhists, Buddhist masters, and heterosexual Buddhists. The findings are analysed using interpretative phenomenological analysis, with the aid of a computerised qualitative data-analysis package. Results reveal a compassionate culture towards this marginalised group, for which Buddhist LGBs cultivate self-acceptance through Buddhist teachings, such as the clarification of nature and manifestation, Buddhist equality, and proper interpretation of precepts. These teachings also encourage inclusiveness.

Objectives. The purpose of the study was to develop and validate a Czech version of the Self- Compassion Scale (SCS-CZ) and to examine its psychometric properties. Sample and setting. Three separate Czech samples were used. In Survey 1, the SCS was translated into Czech with a back-translation procedure and then administered through an on-line survey. 5368 participants (sample 1) completed the SCS-CZ, two subscales of the FFMQ, the RSES, the SWLS and a scale measuring the intensity of non-clinical narcissism. In Survey 2, 415 participants (sample 2) completed the SCS-CZ, the BDI-II, the STAI X-2 and the UPSRS. In Survey 3, 58 participants (sample 3) completed the SCS-CZ two times with the time interval of three weeks. Statistical analysis. Using IBM SPSS Statistics- 22 and Amos-23, calculations of descriptive statistics, Cronbach’s alpha, Pearson correlation coefficients, test-retest analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were performed. Results. The confirmatory factor analysis (sample 1) confirmed the six-factor structure of SCS-CZ after elimination of six items (SRMR=0.045, RMSEA=0.059, CFI=0.929, GFI=0.942, TLI=0.913). A single higherorder factor model was then also confirmed. The Cronbach’s alpha coefficients for total SCS-CZ and subscales were as follows: SCS-CZ (α=0,89), self-kindness (α=0,86), self-judgment (α=0,67), common humanity (α=0,75), isolation (α=0,78), mindfulness (α=0,65) and over-identification (α=0,69). As expected, in Survey 1 and 2, the SCS-CZ exhibited a significant positive correlation to measures of mindfulness, self-esteem, life satisfaction and self-acceptance and a significant negative correlation to measures of non-clinical narcissism, depression and trait anxiety. In Survey 3, the SCS-CZ showed a test-retest reliability of 0.90. Study limitation. This study relied exclusively on self-report measures in order to assess validity. The authors recommend the use of interviews as well as clinical or meditator samples in future studies.

The anonymity of cyberspace enables people to express themselves more freely than in the physical world. Thus, when interacting with others online, some people choose to reconstruct a virtual identity that is partly or even totally different from their physical identity. Using the advanced self-discrepancy theory and the framework of psychological well-being, the current study theoretically modelled the expression of three domains of the self (the ought self, the ideal self and the negative true self) that affects the fulfilment of autonomy and self-acceptance, further influencing people's overall satisfaction in an anonymous online environment. The data (n = 837) were collected from QQ, an anonymous social networking platform from China. The results suggested that virtual identity reconstruction in the online world was significantly associated with the fulfilment of autonomy and self-acceptance. Additionally, autonomy and self-acceptance played important roles in shaping user satisfaction.

Throughout his life, Robin Williams made us feel so good to be alive. He brought to us a reason to smile, to laugh, and to cry. Robin Williams also, very privately, struggled with depression for most of his life.

On August 11, 2014, Robin Williams committed suicide.

After his death, an autopsy of his brain showed that he had Lewy Body Disease (LDB).
Prior to his death he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease, was known to experience periods of deep depression, anxiety and increasing episodes of psychosis, which are all classic symptoms of this newly discovered disease.

In Australia, Lewy Body Disease (LBD) is the second most commonly diagnosed neurodegenerative dementia, after Alzheimer’s Disease (AD).
As the disease slowly progresses, it causes almost total disability and eventual nursing home admission (NHA). For the person with LBD, and those family members who care for them, the progression of this disease is often totally overwhelming.

Surprisingly, very little is known about LBD. We know nothing of what causes it or who might be at risk of developing it. At present, there is no known cure for LBD. Significant challenges exist in diagnosing and managing people with LBD.
A diagnosis of LBD brings with it frustration, misunderstanding, a lack of appropriate and support along with social isolation.

This report will investigate LBD in Australia, discuss some of the key issues, identify critical new LBD research, and recommend some important initiatives to better the lives of everyone affected by Lewy Body Disease.

This paper is about a personal worth workshop in police women and its influence on their job role, in the context of Centered Person Approach (CPA), within a group of women police in a municipality of Jalisco. The importance of keeping current studies in sociology, in an understanding on police culture, as reported complexities in the interaction of police elements in the duality of being agent to obey and being law enforcement officers; this takes influence even in the way they treat to themselves. Approaching the reality of the policewoman coming from an interdisciplinary complementary view, the relevance of the intervention is benefited when the conselour assumes their context of double discrimination on Latin American policewoman: one side, in their service with citizens and in the other side, in the police corporation because of gender. As a result, support from CPA and the work of personal worth, improvement is reported in both personal, interpersonal relationship and in the exercise of their role.

Исследование показывает, что самопринятие негативно связано с перфекционными тенденциями молодежи. Результаты позволяют рассматривать перфекционизм и самопринятие как разнонаправленные тенденции саморазвития в юношеском возрасте.

The current research investigated self-development of modern youth. This article focuses on such aspects of self-development as self-acceptance and self-perfection. The study found that self-acceptance is associated negatively with youth perfectionism. The results suggest that perfectionism and self-acceptance are oppositely directed aspects of self-development in youth.

The present study investigates whether there is a relationship between emotional labor presentation styles and self-acceptance scores of tour guides. The research data were collected from 307 tour guides registered to 13 chambers of The Union of Tourist Guides using the questionnaire technique. The data were analysed with factor analysis and correlation analysis. According to the results of the analysis, tourist guides have two different emotional labor presentation styles, the first being deep acting and the second being surface acting, and their average self-acceptance score is approximately 38. Correlation analysis showed a significant relationship between emotional labor presentation styles and self-acceptance scores of tour guides.

In the article the results of research of self-development’s system are presented. There are considered such aspects of self-development as satisfaction with a life, self-acceptance and self-perfection. The project contains an empirical verification of the optimal model of self-development regulation’s system. The model is based on the date of students of higher education.

When heterosexuality dominates sexual culture, sexual minorities are marginalised, yielding minority stress and internalised phobia which devastate psychological well-being and raise suicide risks. A growing trend in using mindfulness-related interventions in health care shows positive signs, but there is a paucity of research on mindfulness for sexual minorities. This qualitative research, through interpretative
phenomenological analysis, looks into how Buddhist sexual minorities (from various countries) interpret mindfulness from which their increased self-awareness, self-esteem and self-acceptance become prominent intrinsic resources, resulting in enhanced mental health and quality of life. Such an exploratory study extends the horizon of health care benefits for helping professionals and sexual minorities with
alternative views in overcoming external and internalised phobia.
