Giovanni Rasini, a Milanese industrialist, was a refined collector of ancient art and an important patron in the Italy of his time. The essay outlines a biographical and cultural profile starting from the unpublished portrait of him, a painting by Romualdo Locatelli, and from the archival materials and books preserved in Castel Campo, his summer residence in Trentino. One of the most qualifying nuclei of his famous collection
of drawings – today largely dispersed – was made up of works by Giambattista, Giandomenico and Lorenzo Tiepolo, which he purchased on several occasions from private collections and on the antiques market, thanks to the consultancy of Antonio Morassi. The eleven drawings are here reconsidered and illustrated.

Giovanni Battista Endrici was educated at the German-Hungarian College in Rome, where he served as a librarian. He then moved to Vienna, where he was employed as a tutor by the family of counts Khevenhüller-Metsch and subsequently appointed to the Apostolic Nunciature. From 1802 until 1824, he was at the service of Archduke Ferdinand III of Habsburg-Lorrain, at first in Salzburg, then in Würzburg and eventually, from 1814 onwards, in Florence, where he acted also as court almoner. Two portraits of him are known, including one painted in Vienna by Giovanni Battista Lampi.

After the exhibition set up in Trento in 2001, which rekindled the attention of the critics on the painter Giovanni Battista Lampi (Romeno 1751 - Vienna 1830), our knowledge of his activity and that of his two sons have greatly expanded, thanks to the emergence of several works from the mare magnum of the art market and to their acquisition by public and private collectors. Six unpublished portraits by Lampi senior, reappeared in the last few years on the international market and now kept in Trentino, are presented in the paper. These are works belonging to the full maturity or to the extreme creative phase of the painter, balanced between neoclassicism and romanticism: they enrich the already big catalogue of one of the main protagonists of the portraiture of his time.

The article presents an unknown portrait of the sculptor Antonio Dal Zotto (1841-1918), by the American painter Charles Frederic Ulrich (1858-1908). The painting shows two bozzettos for the monument to Carlo Goldoni erected in Venice in 1883: they present the same variants of the first plaster model, dating back to 1876, and of the subsequent editions of the work in bronzetto format. A letter sent by the sculptor to Domenico Trentacoste (1859-1933) is also published.

After the symposium about art and book collections belonged to Count Carlo Gottardo Firmian (1716-1782), held in Trent and Rovereto in 2013, the paper examines some new information about the collecting inclination of the plenipotentiary minister of Austrian Lombardy. Particularly, it considers the failed attempt to acquire an altarpiece - at that time attribu-
ted to Paolo Veronese - from the parish church of Cremia, on Lake Como. It is also assumes that the Milanese abbot Francesco Maria Gallarati (1729-1806) played the role of artistic advisor of the minister. Finally, the paper discusses a painting by Paolo Farinati depicting Saint John the Evangelist, which can be identified with the one mentioned in 1782 in the sales catalogue of the Firmian collection.
